How can you not love the USMC and the history of honour and bravery?! From their strength and sacrifice on the beaches of Iwo Jima and Okinawa, the Chosen reservoir, the jungles of Vietnam and the Mountains of Afghanistan, they have always displayed their honour and willingness to keep the world free!

My son recently retired after 21 years as a U.S. Marine....first as a non-com, and then as an officer....retiring as a Major. He was an aviator in Iraq. I am very proud of him.

The New Commendant of thr USMC graduated from the Senior high that my daughter will graduate from TX. He is a Texas A&M graduate.

The Marines have the 5th largest Air Force in the world. U.S. Air Force is the largest & the U.S. Navy is the second largest.
My daughter is a Marine vet and was meritoriously chosen to attend the ceremony at Iwo Jima. An honor, she will never forget. I have a picture of her, standing on the famous black sand, with Mount Suribachi behind her.
I am from San Diego, CA and have grown up with both the Navy and Marin Corps in my backyard. My first high school dance was at a local Navy/Marine private school. I still enjoy the "Air Show" at Mira Mar Airbase which you may recognize from the original Top Gun movie that was largely filmed there.
Some things; First, the USMC is the epitome of Naval Infantry. I know the jarheads don't want to hear that but it's not a bad thing in any way. Secondly, from a story on Quora, a Marine squad leader told a new guy (FNG) to pack up his shit, it was time to go.
"How do you know?", asked the new guy.
Pointing out Army troops moving into the area, the squad leader explained, "We take it, they keep it".

If you're interested, outside of doing a video, you might want to listen to Johnny Cash's song "Ira Hayes". Ira was a Gila River Indian in the Marines, and one of the flag raisers. The song tells the story of his life. It's pretty sad that a hero like him didn't get the happy life he deserved!
It is celebrated every year...every Marine gets a piece of birthday cake even if they are out in the field.
Ive been to 3 Marine Birthday Balls.
My son was honored on veterans day in 2012 at a veterans meal. He was the youngest veteran in attendance (had just graduated from marine bootcamp the day before, he was home on 2 weeks leave) tgen, the oldest vet were honored.
This is a great video. My maternal grandfather wasa Marine and fought on Iwo Jima. He was also in the Korean War.
I was married to a marine and my son was a marine for 5 years before switching to the army. He's still serving.
Uniform difference is simply an enlisted/officer difference.
The red piping in in remembrance of the revolutionary war, I believe. My grandpa was a Marine and told me about it when I was a child.
the actual standard issue for all the grunts is the m27 with the 3x optic and suppressor and most have a bipod and even high cuts now but it's slowly getting integrated not every platoon in every single unit has this yet but will, the marine infantry is switching roles with the army now as the more higher speed gear and focus is actually on us now, or what it seems to be in the infantry at least
