@@MasterNeko my gauge cluster only communicates with the sensors sometimes. Unfortunately, I’m not 100% the problem is fixed yet, but I do think it’s a grounding issue.
My bad i was a bit skeptical bout this video but now that i watched it carefully. I apologize sir 🙏 it's a great video well explained thanks for explaining everything in detail my respect
Been having a problem like this was diagnosed as a body control module then found out had bad pin tension but issue still occurred, was then told there's an open in the wire somewhere. It is an intermittent issue that happens in the heat mostly, around 11-2 or 3 it may go down, throwing abs, Trac control, and CEL. If no communication occurs all 3 will light up turn key nothing but CEL will stay on..
It's a shame this is what we have to go through now a days to keep an air pump running... The simplicity of an air pump with a fuel system and ignition has become WAY! over engineered with much to many components...
I had a Silverado in my shop same issue no crank no communication with ECM I did the diagnostics Step-by-step with you the only difference was I did not have any voltage at the 5v checks. Thank you so much man this video save my ass.
Great video! I'm currently working on a police '14 Tahoe 5.3L that runs but will set about 5 no communication network codes with various modules. B0081 on up. good diag but some times you have to test 5 volt refrence during load i mean that testing while the sensor is connected because if there is ashorted sensor the 5 volt will be dropped thanx
Yes you're right, it's best to check circuits while loaded. I did test the 5V ref at the APP with the sensor connected. The MAP I unplugged just to make backprobing easier, and the IAT I tested unplugged because the IAT is a pull-down circuit that should only be 5V when unplugged. Thanks for checking out my videos and commenting!

Do I need to take it to a dealer to fix and relearn my idle? Thanks 07.Sierra 4.8l single cab WT truck does start it just has an idle surge and reduced engine power light which Im guessing is why my gas pedal has no response at all in park or in gear.
Anyone know a good Shop in Southern California that can take this type of approach to a Silverado? I have the same type of situation with a u0073 . This is causing intermittent loss of communications leading to no first gear until I let off throttle and press again. You just gotta get training from wherever you can. Keep an eye out in your area for training classes sponsored by local parts stores. BWD training, ACDelco, and Bosch all do these types of training classes for local parts suppliers. Online, Autonerdz and iATN are both good resources, as well as youtubers like ScannerDanner and SouthMainAuto. And most importantly, experience. You just have to spend time working on cars and meticulously reading through service info to understand the systems you are working on. I have no formal education outside of Auto Shop class in high school. I learned everything I know through experience, local training classes, online resources, and trial-and-error.

Do you know of a shop that can be this thorough north of Denver? Got the same truck with multiple engine codes and issues that are somewhat obviously related to a computer mis communication. Thanks.
Subscriber 68 here just sayin hello. Enjoyed watching you work. Thanks for posting this vid man.
07 avalanche. Had a electrical gremlin. Door locks bouncing needles warning lights hard shifting now no crank. I’ve changed every ground. Jumped it at crank relay it will roll over. Have 60 ohms at canbus high/low I have power to all three fuses you tested eng and both ecm and 5 volt ref on maf etc. Only thing I notice is I have approx 980 mv on low and 4.8 volts on high canbus... any advice is appreciated
Did you find out what it was? I’m having this issue now
good diag but some times you have to test 5 volt refrence during load i mean that testing while the sensor is connected because if there is ashorted sensor the 5 volt will be dropped thanx
Yes you're right, it's best to check circuits while loaded. I did test the 5V ref at the APP with the sensor connected. The MAP I unplugged just to make backprobing easier, and the IAT I tested unplugged because the IAT is a pull-down circuit that should only be 5V when unplugged.
Thanks for checking out my videos and commenting!

thanx bro . iam always check your videos u are great man thanx again
I have an 09 Sierra with several modules showing the U0100 communication lost with ECM code. But Mine runs and drives fine. the only indication that anything is wrong is the gauges drop out then come back and it's the service stabilitrac comes up then goes away, then comes back and goes away again and so on. Any Ideas?
Same here
Solved?
Did you find the problem??
What was your problem
Any luck? Im having the same issue
Great video brother! If I take my new ECM too get programed and then install it, can I drive to a shop too do the crank position relearn? Is that gunna hurt anything or is it ok for the truck?
I recently installed brand new throttle body with a new sensor mass flow air sensor pedal sensor and then the problem came back 3 days later what should I do
Have a 2008 Escalade no crank no start. checked all fuses they are good. Powered the starter relay, engine cranks & wiring harness looks good.Pulled fuses on all modules with no change. Checked pins 6 &14 and getting 95 ohms seems strange as I would expect 120 or 60 any ideas?
unplugg the BCM and try to crank it....
Would I have to get my ecm programmed or can I do this at home
Expert troubleshooting. Maybe you can help me?
I have a 2018 Camaro SS with a 6.2 Liter automatic. It has a hard U0100 code and no crank and will not allow me to reprogram the new ECU. I followed you diagnostic steps and found all my sensor reference voltages at 12 volts, also between ECU metal case and frame ground is 12 volts, and CAN high and low pins on ECU blue connector also seems to be reading 12 volts. I can communicate with some of the other modules. Any ideas?
Mark Sternall you figure it out ?
Brilliant walk through, nicely explained. I'm sub'd.
Thorough Video, wya Derreck?
Would code U1016 on a 2001 Chevy Express be the same conclusion?
What is the tool you r using to diagnose the pcm .
I have a 2000 Silverado had a fuel gauge up and empty then no fuel so I jump on back and jump to activate pump then that didn’t work no more so. O power at all to relay or pump took crank sensor out tested good but no signal or no 5 volts there or evaporate or control idle cylanoid so does that mean bad pcm

What pricetag was associated with this repair? You said very expensive but I'm just wondering ballpark? Thanks
On the step for checking the voltage from Pin 4 to Pin 6 and 14, did you have to turn on the ACC/Ignition on? I did it with the ignition off/Key out
When you did it with the key out what’s was the voltage? And did you use dc voltage or regular voltage. And did you also try it with key on?
has to be w/ key out
Good video, lots of good info here 👌🏼
Does all this work need to be completed by a dealer?
Great job!!! Congratulations.
I'm having the same issue but it's not communicating with transmission trucks going off line and will not start. After a while of unplugging battery the truck runs great. It message on dash 4wd and stabilizer message any ideas
Bro I have an ecm but it’s not programmed to my vin, will it still work?
no
What's a possible cause for a u0100 code on a 2010 equinox 3.0 liter AWD with 234k miles? Starts up fine and idles rough due to timing chain system issues. Has cam crank correlation codes, p0089, displays reduced engine power message on the dash, and stability light is also on. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Hi Rusco, I had the some problem with your equinox u0100 with a reduced engine power. I just wanna ask how did you fixed the problem. Thanks
What was the voltage on the pink wire?
Where is ecm relay located? I'm getting p0690 code. I have replaced my battery and alternator. I'm still getting the same code
This guy knows his shit
Would this testing work if I’m able to start the car sometimes? I get codes u0073 and u0100 along with other codes when the car acts up but when it runs fine no codes. Can I still do this testing to determine if my pcm/ecm is going bad
could you find what the problem was friend?
@@jimmymazariegos6269 starting to believe it could be the bcm
@@jimmymazariegos6269 still couldn’t find the problem
Thanks derreck for video cheers sandy
My truck was running great before I cleaned the throttle body
Hard Codes U0073 & P025A, wont let me clear those codes
These 2 codes can be cleared but come back once the truck is started
P1516 P2101
my dumb ass cleaned and unplugged it without disconnecting the battery first no issues before the cleaning. Do I need to take it to a dealer to fix and relearn my idle? Thanks 07.Sierra 4.8l single cab WT
truck does start it just has an idle surge and reduced engine power light which Im guessing is why my gas pedal has no response at all in park or in gear.
Anyone know a good Shop in Southern California that can take this type of approach to a Silverado? I have the same type of situation with a u0073 . This is causing intermittent loss of communications leading to no first gear until I let off throttle and press again. I have tried with what limited experience and tools I have to diagnose but to no avail. Any assistance is appreciated!
Key on, back probing the ground to ecm is giving me batter voltage, not less than 100mV...
I need help I have the same issue but I can't get my ECU to get any connections an idk what else to think this video helps
What are the devices you’re using? Very interesting. Apprentice mechanic willing to get the advanced level as you bro. New subscriber here. Love the videos
Interesting. Thanks so much
I have an issue with a 2018 Malibu. Same deal here. No Communication with the scan tool. This car had no computer and was vandalized I bought a computer and a new harness and plug everything like a puzzle. Replaced a ton of fuses and check connections to modules and still no Communication with the scan tool. Scan tool turns on I can't read any codes. Any ideas or suggestion as 2 what other steps I should take into diagnosing this vehicle.
Do you ever find out what was wrong with it? Have the same problem
@Eduardo Lopez I ended replacing the engine bro.
Hello put a new transmission in2010 chevrolet 4by4 wanted start do u no if u got to program the computer
I am having some communication issues with my 14 silvy 1500. Transfer control module, engine control module and abs module are not communicating and throwing codes. My main display that play music went dark and doesn't work. I checked fuses, intellalink wiring was OK, and also drained the stored power to reset engine lights. Still can't figure it out, hopefully you can give me some direction
Any fix?
@@MasterNeko Yeah, bad Engine control module
@@travisberan2967 mines seem to happen randomly the one time I got codes for no communication to bcm ecm tcm pcm but it haven’t been doing it all week, only thing I did was move some wires around and change the mega fuse, I did the checks like in the video and I got power and the right ohms and voltage
@@MasterNeko which is the MEGA fuse??
What if the ohms test is good but the dc volt test was low? Like .632?
I did the CAN HI/CAN LO resistance check and got 125 ohms. I also am getting a Class 2 Data Link fault. Is my ECM failed. Problem started when I started my 2006.5 2500HD Duramax LLY, put in in reverse, truck died then no crank no start.
Great video. If you don't mind me asking. Where do you get training from?
Diagnostic Derreck I participate in autonerdz as much as possible just I do not own a Pico. I attend seminars and training thru Napa. Have a subscription to avi on demand. Just trying to get to the next level, so I always ask to see if I have been missing out. Thank you for the reply. Great video
@@diagnosticderreck3287 Do you answer questions? I have a head scratcher that is related to the Can Bus.
Great video buddy. I’m having the same problem but a little different let me explain,my part truck is a 07 Chevrolet Tahoe ran and drove great. I pulled the engine and transmission with wire harness pretty much everything to swap in my 87 87 cutlass. I was trying to start it on my shop floor and clean up harness before the install but it is doing exactly what that truck is doing in your video, maybe the ecm got Fried or something.any help is appreciated thanks buddy keep up the great content I almost forgot to mention no communication with scanner it does get power though
Any help to resolving my truck won’t crank after changed the engine to 4.8 from 4.3
I already programming ecm/ecu the key and still won’t crank I don’t have signal to the purple cable on the start
