I find it difficult discussing with vegans who think they are god. god above nature; god in knowing it better than nature.
nature feeds you animal fatt and proteine when you are a baby. now tell me: does nature want to give you cancer? does nature lie to you like so many vegans only copy and tell lies?
      I dont think so.
so tell me again those vegans think they are better than god/nature itself...
mommies titties should have given you carrotjuice didnt they?
its harsh to soo all you vegans have become these piece of shit actWHORES copying and following other people their shit and telling lies to other people dragging them down. Its sad to see you even ACT frustrated because you THINK other people dont understand while you cannot accept the dark side of nature and yourself.
do you think life is a fairytail for you to live? do you want to live in fantasyland where kids grow up watchting disney instead of watching crocodiles rip open a zebra.
vegans dont want to see nature, too harsh too look at; and if they reale looked they would see how stupid they are themselves.
      netflix internet heros.
its disturbing how narcistic and psychopath this way of vegan thinking has become; makes you sick humans.

    • @_Mordion_

I respect how you responded to the animal industry but that wasn't my response. Mine was a quite different response to the same problem. It's clearly horrible how animals are treated in mass produced meat farms. No question there at all. It's also not healthy for us because of what they feed those animals and inject them with. I don't believe we shouldn't eat meat though especially if you're a Christian and have read the Bible. You'll see for yourselves there is nothing condemning the eating of meat. For me, it got me interested in conservational hunting. This isn't trophy hunting.. we hate that. We hunt to feed our families natural unfarmed meat and we give a lot of money and volunteer hours to sustaining public lands and keeping them public and out of the hands of corporations. We also donate some of the wild game meat that we harvest to homeless shelters. There are a lot of things that conservational hunters and vegans agree on in terms of the treatment of animals.

First he says only eat plants, then oh, wait, no, now you can eat animals. Very odd concept of a wishy-washy God who can't even "punish" the right parties. I'd say get beyond the man-corrupted scriptures and go by your gut instinct of what God wants.

I’m not a meat-eater, but the Bible commands meat to be eaten when the Passover was eaten traditionally.
“The LORD said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt, “This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year. Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb for his family, one for each household. If any household is too small for a whole lamb, they must share one with their nearest neighbor, having taken into account the number of people there are. You are to determine the amount of lamb needed in accordance with what each person will eat. The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect, and you may take them from the sheep or the goats. Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month, when all the members of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight. Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs. That same night they are to eat the meat roasted over the fire, along with bitter herbs, and bread made without yeast. Do not eat the meat raw or boiled in water, but roast it over a fire-with the head, legs and internal organs. Do not leave any of it till morning; if some is left till morning, you must burn it. This is how you are to eat it: with your cloak tucked into your belt, your sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand. Eat it in haste; it is the LORD’s Passover.”

God said for Adam & Eve to be vegan in the Garden of Eden, then told Noah that he could eat reptile eggs because there would not be much food right after the flood. That usually gets mistranslated though.
Literal Hebrew to English translation: "Every creeping thing that is alive, to you it is for food, as the green herb I have given to you the whole."
King James translation: "Every moving thing that livith shall be meat for you, even as the green herb have I given you all things."
The word creeping is "remes" in Hebrew and means reptiles. Also notice how the King James usually translates food to meat, and not just this verse.

Everyone has different interpretations of religious texts & meanings. Here's mine. In the beginning, we were placed in a garden, & told that plants are our food, & not to touch the forbidden "fruit of knowledge - of good & evil," lest we would surely die. That fruit I believe, was the fruit of the womb, of living, sentient creatures, with conscious knowledge, of good & evil. It's the "food" that keeps on killing us, today! By the next generation, it is written, that Cain's first plant harvest, offering to "God," was inferior to the blood sacrifice of his biological brother, Able. This is where religion first indoctrinates us into the notion that slaughter, & bloodshed are pleasing, to "God." At least the god they were dealing with - at that time. ? This story raises two doubts. One, of editing by later scribes, & two, the question, 'Did we abandon our original creator, in favor of one who seems to rule this world today - one with an insatiable bloodlust?' Jesus, I belive, came to convince people to repent of their original sin, & free themselves of filthy appetites, & deception, that they would be healed. He encountered his biggest confrontation at the temple, where animals were being sold for religious sacrifice.
But he asked us to remember him 'when we eat & drink.' He probably NEVER fed any 'fish' to 'the 5000,' but rather made bread from sea vegetation, served with grapes. This story could easily have been altered to fit Rome's revamped, made over, doctrinal teachings, with Jesus as it's new face. His true identity was most likely snuffed out with the early Vegan Christians, who were fed to lions (to make that eternal, food chain point!) The image of Jesus was simply used to rubberstamp Rome's newfound! 'spirtual' empire. As the world today, races to it's own destruction, Jesus must return again - in some form - to save the whole earth (not just doctrinal Christian believers). Vegans are that 'salt of the earth' movement, washing their robes. We don't need to wait & see if there IS some actual, flesh & blood Jesus coming from the sky, or whatever; because God's message of love for all creatures, is speaking loudly & clearly through our hearts (humanity's essence). By eating a clean diet, & championing love for every creature with a face, that expresses itself as a sentient, coscious, child of God in mortal form, we reconnect with our hearts, & God's true plan of peace on earth. We have all been deceived by those whose best interest lies in keeping the world bathed in blood. We're called, to wake up the critical mass of humanity, to save it. We're still predominantly in darkness, but the light is growing!

I read all what you said & totally agree -- it was the flesh-eaters/milk drinkers of organized religions who corrupted the holy books & started spreading lies about the true nature of God. People should listen to their gut instincts that no God would condone, allow, give permission to kill innocent beings for food or anything -- ever. He gave us a world full of plants for that :)

First, I would like to say I am a vegan and a Christian. Ed asks the perfect questions. I believe God wants us to love and care for His creatures no matter how big or small.
So with that i would like to make a few points from the Bible If you are interested in what it says.
1.) If you are a Christian then you believe in our creation by God. In Genesis, God placed us in the garden of Eden to tend to it. He said that he gave green plants for food to all creatures. (Genesis 1:30) He made it very clear that plants are the food, not animals.
2.) If you are a Christian then you believe a perfect world will one day be established on this Earth. (Isaiah 65:17-25) This Scripture touches on the perfection and peace of what God desires for us. It tells us that the sound of weeping will be heard no more. I know that includes the sounds of ALL of Gods Creation. The Scripture goes on to say that even animals will no longer consume other animals. The world will be at complete peace.
3.) God cares for all of His creation. One of my Favorite Scriptures. (Psalm 36:6) “Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your judgments are like the great deep; you save humans and animals alike, O Lord.”
I could really Go on and on just on the Scriptures that show God's compassion to All living creatures.
For those that care, there are also many scripture of God making a covenant with Humans and animals. That causes me to ask myself, "self, why would God make a covenant with these lowly and unintelligent creatures that are merely food and resources?" I discovered the answer after becoming vegan. Because God loves His creation and wants us to do the same. (Proverbs 12:10) "A righteous man regardes the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel." That's right, he calls a cruel action toward a "beast" wicked.
Since becoming vegan my respect for all creatures, even insects, has greatly increased. So, Earthling Ed, if you read this, please research the scriptures. Even if its purely to have ammunition against the so called "Christian" way of belief. Change needs to happen. I want to help. If anyone has questions I will be glad to offer assistance in scripture reserch no matter your way of believing.
    Thanks! Have a great day!

I created a video that activists can use for Christians who will not be persuaded to go vegan unless the Bible tells them to. I've compiled biblical verses that show that Eden was vegan, God is making people vegan in the present day, and all people and even animals will be vegan in the future, and heaven is even vegan. Not only that, but the Bible states that animals have souls, and more!

But you really explained it in a way that many religious people can relate to.

If you are not VEGAN, you are Breaking ALL Ten Commandments. By Dr. Chapman Chen
Summary: Love of Christ is the underlying reason we are to keep the Ten Commandments. Jesus said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments” (John 14:15 NKJV). Non-vegans violate not just the Sixth Commandment "Thou shalt not kill" but also all the other Commandments. E.g., in regarding humanity as superior to all other creatures of God, non-vegans deify themselves and break the 1st Commandment; in sacrificing animals to one's belly-idol, one breaks the 3rd Commandment; in eating God's creatures, thus failing to recognize that Sabbath is a reminder of creation, non-vegans break the 4th Commandment; in eating animal flesh and damage themselves physically, mentally and spiritually, non-vegans disgrace their parents and break the 5th Commandment; in forcefully and artificially inseminating cows and other female animals in order to get their milk, non-vegans break the 7th Commandment; in robbing animals of their food like honey, their skin, their hair, their feathers, their eggs, etc., non-vegans break the 8th Commandment; by misinterpreting "dominion" in Genesis 1:26 and speak unjustly about their animal neighbours, non-vegans break the 9th Commandment; in occupying and/or destroying animals' habitat for animal farming, for land development, etc., non-vegans break the 10th Commandment.

Muslim convert! I was pretty much born a vegetarian since I've never liked the taste or smell of meat, and growing up meat often made me feel sick if I ate it. It still does, and I even threw up once after eating it at a restaurant that we went to on a regular basis. This was ages ago, but I still feel the same way about meat to this day, I don't like it, it doesn't agree with me, and once I had learnt where it actually comes from I was glad I didn't like it in the first place. I've always loved animals, and I don't like to think of them as our food; they are living creatures who experience emotions just like we do, and they deserve our love, respect and care, not for us to kill them just for our own consumption. In Islam, killing an animal for food is done in a peaceful way, without torturing the animal. Words from the Qur'an are whispered and sang into the ear of a healthy and well looked after animal, and they suddenly stop struggling and lie down, relaxing completely in the arms of the slaughterer, feeling no stress as they know where they're going when they die; to God. I respect this way of ending an animal's life for food if the people really feel the need for it, which is why I love Islam so much. You must show love for an animal, even when you're about to kill it. And treating animals with respect is always encouraged in Islam, in fact it's something that's asked of you as part of your duty on this world. If animals are treated badly or cruelly by people, then those people will be punished for their actions. Ending an animal's life is only necessary for when it's for food, or if the creature opposes some sort of threat to you or someone else around you; to protect yourself, and even then you should try to avoid killing it. Hurting creatures is never encouraged, and you should avoid causing any harm at all to a creature, be it physical or mental.
As for animal-based products, I've actually noticed that when I eat a lot of cheese, I start feeling sweaty, and dairy often makes me have a runny nose. I guess I'm mildly lactose intolerant too. So I've recently decided to cut down on cheese and milk. Unless they're on or in something (pizza, ice cream ect), I'm not going to consume that much. Like I used to put cheese on bread and stuff, but I might not do that so much now. I feel like it would be healthier, since eating cheese is supposed to be as addictive to taking drugs. That's why people love it so much lol.
Really great video, loved the points you made. Almost made me want to go vegan myself 😂😂

Every bite of cheese and glass of milk is loaded with suffering, pus and blood. You should be avoiding it like the plague knowing where it comes from -- a sad mother cow who carried her baby for 9 months then had him taken away from her immediately after birth, the baby either bolt gunned in the head that day or held chained up for veal. There's hundreds of substitutes for cheese and milks made from cashews, coconut, rice, oats, etc.

Sounds like hipocrassy to me! Another monk once said that because they do not take part in the killing or suffering of the animals they can eat and use animal products. Again, this is a cop out. I used to belong to a Buddhist group (Triratna) and they stuck to a strict vegan diet.

This excuse really upsets me when I hear it, because it implies that all religious types are of this opinions - and that couldn’t be farther from the truth. As others have said, the Bible tells us we were created vegan, and only permitted animal food after the flood. As you say in the video, it was necessary for survival at that times because of a scarcity of plant matter. But nowadays there is no need to continue with what should have been a temporary measure. I truly believe that one of the best ways you can worship your deities is to respect the world they gave us.

There is nothing you can eat on this earth that isn't alive. That's a fact.. just because it's not furry with big innocent eyes doesn't mean it's not alive. Also, in terms of bible translations you should actually research them.. in the original aramaic (old testament) and greek (new testament) you'll find that the verses pertaining to meat aren't twisted as you've described. Gen 9:3 for example: "Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. And as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything."

They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground-everything that has the breath of life in it-I give every green plant for food.” And it was so."

And God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you;''

*Benjamin Scotch* correct me if I'm wrong but according to the religion... all men are sinners and fall short... and there is no listing of sins that are worse or better than any other. So a thing one may see as small... is no less of a sin than one that you see as big. And if committing a sin equates to "not being a true servant", then who on earth is a true servant?

Benjamin Scotch I believe Adam and Eve where vegans, they lived alongside animals as their brethren and where told to eat the plants. Only when they sinned and were thrown out in a barren land did God say they could eat meat because there was no other way they could live out of Eden. Today though, we’re living in our own manmade Eden with plenty of plant foods.

    • @LadyCoyKoi

We don't kill the plants, you silly goose. The only way to kill a plant is direct destruction of the whole plant, which we humans do not do. It's stupid. When I collect my vegs and fruits from my garden, I don't pull their roots out. That is such a waste of a strong plant and means more work for me for new harvest, because it means starting all over. I don't cut down the mango tree to eat one mango. 100% for me, I pick up the mango that was fallen (I never buy my mangoes at stores; they are tasteless). There are people who eat a burger who are wasteful... kill the whole cow just for one big mac. :X

Many people would not get upset emotionally by seeing plants being harvested but would have a vicarious reaction to see the torment and slaughter of animals first hand.

I respect that you choose to be a vegan, i respect you for standing up and bringing awareness to the cruelty thats going on in the world. My heart breaks when i see any cruelty. I do my best to help animals in need.
Sadly we live in a fallen world that loves darkness, rebellion against God and injustice (sin) more then it loves the light and righteousness and God (holiness)
As a bible believing christian i believe that the bible is the word of God and i believe it is the truth. The bible does not condemn people from using animals to work for us, be our companions or to clothe us, or feed us. The bible demands us to take good care of our animals, give them shelter, food, care and to spare them from cruelty, suffering, sickness and starvation. God hates injustice he tells us to stand up for the weak and the ones without a voice.
Pease try to understand christians who live their life according to Gods Word.
Jesus Christ is the truth, the way and the life. All men have sinned against God and need to repent from their evil deeds, Jesus is God in the flesh. He died for our sins so we can be forgiven for our sins.
He is the only one who will save our souls from eternal destruction. And the only one who will give us eternal life.

It seems cats can live on a vegan diet supplemented with synthetic taurine. It's true that some, especially males, may develop urinary tract problems on such a diet. For those cases, adding a small quantity of meat in their diet may be required.
Anyway, in a few years we'll have commercially available cultured meat, which will solve the problem, both for cats, and for humans who still think they must eat meat.

God gave us dominion over the animal kingdom. Animals and human beings are 2 completely different things in the bible. Humans are what's known as "man" (man & wo-man) and made in the image of God. Animals are known as "creatures". Jesus Christ allowed all things to be clean and eaten (meat etc.) If you're biblical stance is that Jesus said it was okay to eat fish and animals back in the day because food was scarce back then... well...you're simply wrong and don't understand the bible. Bible teaches things for generations to come. God is the same yesterday today and tomorrow. He knows what the future holds. So for Him to say it would be accepted because food was scarce is not accurate because He would know that in the future we'd have access to all types of food. And if he knows that and still makes eating meat acceptable then there is nothing wrong with it.
You ask questions like why would God allow pain and suffering for an animal, well they are not the same as man (and He actually loved the sacrifice of a lamb and the scent it produced for Him from the fat etc.). But also...God is mysterious as well...if you were able to understand His ways and make sense of all of them he wouldn't be worth worshipping that's for certain. So just because you can't comprehend something God does...doesn't mean there is something wrong with it.
Ps. Although sure, i agree it's not necessary to eat meat. I enjoy it, I love eating meat.
It's not a necessity to get married or have sex either, but guess what...people do that. Because it's a gift from God that he allows us to enjoy. Just like the animals he gave us dominion over to eat (should we choose to eat them).

Jesus said many times that he does not want our animal sacrafices.
Taste is a pleasure, and if you want to use pleasure to condone an action then we could use the bible to justify many things we don't accept as morally right in todays society.

@@116graceandglory what are you going on about? Jesus Christ Himself ate FISH! And in the old testament GOD LOVED the smell of a burnt offering from animals...the "aroma" was "pleasing to Him". You're forgetting God gave MAN (which is his greatest and most pleasing creation) dominion over the aninal kingdom. Which means he gave us the animals to use towards OUR benefit, whether we use them for sacrafices (which we don't need to do anymore because Jesus Christ was the ultimate sacrifice for our sins), or food, or clothing, or a means to get around etc. God is loving always. We also don't murder animals. Murder means your sole intent is to kill someone. When we kill an animal, it's not just for the sake of killing it...it's to benefit us and use it in some sort of way (as i previously mentioned).

"No religion says it's a necessity to consume animal products.
Because it's not a necessity it means it still can't be justified"
There you go again... not justified to you doesn't equate to not justified to everyone. Your moral opinions don't equate to everyone's.
You believe a benevolent God wouldn't want us to eat his animals if you wouldn't have to. Another opinion that can be countered with "I believe he'd want us to eat animals, regardless".
Why would he want us to inflict pain? Who knows? Maybe his knowledge of the universe and everything around us is far superior and beyond anything that our limited minds can come up with? Maybe he's far superior in every way and knows better than we do like a parent does their child. Who knows?
When people use their beliefs to justify taking the life of an animal or a sentient living being that becomes disingenuous? What? Lol. What makes it so? That's like saying "When people use their beliefs to justify not taking the life of an animal or a sentient living being that becomes disingenuous". Vegans use their beliefs of what should be to justify their actions... are they too disingenuous?
If someone uses their interpretation to justify killing an animal, that's their interpretation. That's their belief. Having that belief doesnt mean they have to accept the same for humans. That's how it works. If they believe the bible or religion is telling them this or that then that's their interpretation, their opinionated belief of what it's saying. The same way vegans have their beliefs of what should or shouldn't be done except vegans appeal to emotions while they appeal to religion.
If you justify one interpretation, you have to justify all? Um... no. Your logic could be used with morals as a whole. If we accept one persons interpretation of what is good or bad then we must accept all because not everyone shares the same interpretation of what's good or bad.
Lastly, everything else just seems to be you giving your opinion of what a God would do or what he wants. Questions could be asked... if God is all knowing, then he must have known what we were gonna do before we did it. If he didn't intend for us not to do whatever we want, take animal lives, etc, then why does he let us? Your logic is flawed and can be easily countered, and I'm not even religious.

You said no compassionate God will allow creatures to feel pain. I disagree. Nature is filled with pain. Should we fight against childbirth or promote pharmaceuticals because childbirth is painful then? I'm a mom of 2. Parenthood requires a lot of pain and suffering. Is sacrificing for my kids wrong then since it involves pain? Pain can be a useful and, in some cases, a beautiful thing. Just because something comes with pain doesn't mean it's automatically wrong.

They said "god created animals so we could feed on them, so why wouldn't you eat animals? Read Bible, it's in there" (I'm not religious) so I asked how they could eat a god's creature that feels pain and doesn't want to die and what I got was "what do you mean they don't want to? I want to add some knowledge to this as well as a Bible Scholar: 1. The Bible indicates that the first time man was able to eat animals for food was only after the flood haened in Noahs day. Thus, it indicates that before that, people were vegan or vegetarian. And the only reason Noah was told that he could eat meat was because the world was just starting to grow its plant life back. It had flooded. So this indicates we were originally meant to be vegan. 2. Hellfire is just a doctrine made up from Catholosism. There is no place of ffirery torment that exists in the scritptures. There is a place called Gehenna, which was used symbolicaly to refer to everlasting death. It originally was a firey pit to burn trash in in Israel. 3. In the book of Jonah, at the end, God says to Jonah when talking about why He wanted to save the city of Ninevah from destruction, "Should I not care for the many people in Ninevh who do not know right from wrong, as well as their many anmals?" 4. The wolf and the lamb will lie together in peace." A prophecy that says further that there will be a time hen animals will evolve past carnivores to a whole world of herbivores.

This should be a philosophical debate, but you are making a theological argument. You affirm that God deems killing animals a sin, except in the case of necessity. Why the exception clause? Why does the circumstance of our hunger ever justify an intrinsic evil? Circumstances never make an evil act good. I can’t justifiably murder a person when I’m hungry because murder is intrinsically evil, always and everywhere. You premise assumes Macchiavellianism, a view Scripture condemns. A good end never justifies evil means. But, in the case of killing animals to eat them, there is no evil means. God commands the sacrifice (and therefore killing) of animals for centuries, and he commands good things not evil things. He also commanded our first parents to subdue the earth. Does God command an evil action in Genesis? Does Jesus in the Gospels, when he declares all food clean? By all means, invite your friends to make a sacrifice for the sake of compassion. But I don’t suggest you attempt a biblical argument for the sin of eating meat. It is not a winning strategy.

I'm a muslim vegan and I don't think eating meat is an excuse, it's just an action. Fot me, what made me become vegan is not neccessiarly just the slaughter of animals, but mostly the cruel treatment for animals through literally their whole lives. In my religion a woman was punished or sent to hell for caging a cat, and we have really strict rules for dealing with animals especially those are to be consumed but sadly now people only care about the Islamic way of slaughtering rather than the actual rules of treatment. In school I was taught that nails must always be trimmed when milking a cow so that it won't get hurt, but the mass production nowadays is crazy and cruel.
I think it's alright to drink a cow milk IF there is a leftover AFTER her baby had already drink and both are not seperated or caged or injected with hormones but obviously that's not what's happening. The same with eggs. Sadly it's factories who do the job not farms.
As for eating meat, of course it is not forced and we can live without it nowadays. But I want to say that God's word is unchangable. So saying it was allowed before but not now is not so valid. Even in old Islamic text it was recommended to eat meat very fewly cause eating a lot stiffens the heart. Although I don't prefer to kill animals but I really want to put spotlight on the way they are caged and treated.
I really love the idea of loving animals and appreciating them and seeing them as more than food. I think it's better to show the suffering of the animals since they are born instead of just telling people to not eat meat bluntly. I also believe in a co-existence between consuming animal products like eggs and milk in a way that does not harm the animal in any possible way but that's not going to happen with the mass factories production. Many people still think that animals are RAISED happily in FARMS but the truth is they are CAGED in FACTORIES.

We must understand Scripture as a whole, and not only believe in it, but live by it, fully.
The first greatest commandment is this:
Jesus replied: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. - Mathew 22:37
It is true that in Genesis, the beggining of time God declares to Adam and Eve that He has given them every plant and every seed yielding fruit and vegetation for food.
Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. - Genesis 1:29
However, later in scripture we learn that Adam and Eve rebel against The Lord, and they become shameful of their naked bodies, so The Lord Himself clothes them in animal skin. This is when humanity and the earth becomes corrupted by sin, due to the disobedience of men and women. However, God forgives the man and the woman, as He loves them.
And the LORD God made clothing from animal skins for Adam and his wife. - Genesis 3:21
What God says next is captivating, as it leads to the first announcement of Jesus's Coming in the NT.
And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel." - Genesis 3:15
As we read on, The Lord then allows for the consumption of meat for Adam and Eve.
Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything. - Genesis 9:3
And even farther in scripture, God Himself tells us this:
The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them. - Romans 14:3
I want to emphasize that for the content of this video I am sharing verses of the Bible regarding nourishement and food, although truly, the Bible does not solely rely on that. Animals are part of God's creation, but He is more concerned about Us, and He makes it clear throughout scripture. We see animals in a total different way than God does and that is when we deceive ourselves.
"What goes into someone's mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them." - Mathew 15:11
God is clear when He declares that we as humans are His chosen ones.
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. - 1 Peter 2:9
He even warns us not to worship His creation.
And when you look up into the sky and see the sun, moon, and stars-all the forces of heaven-don’t be seduced into worshiping them. The LORD your God gave them to all the peoples of the earth. - Deuteronomy 4:19
And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles. - Romans 1:23
The greatest challenge that humanity has is to believe in the Gospel.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. - John 3:16
We are in need of a Savior, and our own righteous deeds will not save the animals, nor the earth, nor humanity. The earth shall pass and The Lord will come.
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. - Luke 21:33
Therefore stay awake-for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning - Mark 13:35
For you know quite well that the day of the Lord’s return will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night. - Thessalonians 5:2
It is written: "'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.'"
    - Romans 14:11
The very reason for Christ coming back is for the very reason that the world has become wicked and corrupted, in every way. We are sinful even in our own nature God declares.
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God - Ephesians 2:8
He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit. - Titus 3:5
It should come to no surprise that all of these terrible things are happening in the world, and that is not to say we should not do anything about it, however Jesus needs to be our main focus, for in Him there will be eternal life, in Him there is forgiveness of our sins.
Whether we choose to eat meat or plants we should seek God first, and consume in a way that is not only responsible, but Christ Honoring.
Lastly, I want to point out that nowhere in the Bible does God command for us be Vegan, for God and His faithful ones do not worship animals, nor do we make them a priority.

There's a lot in the Bible that is not of God, and it is obvious when you learn His character. The Garden of Eden represents a spiritual state, where God and man were familiar with each other. Note that God gave all plants for man to eat, not animals. Once that connection with God was destroyed, man left that spiritual 'garden' and then consumed meat. Then we see God again in some of the Prophets. Have a look at Isaiah where He says that a man who kills a bull is like one who kills a man, and people do things that displease Him. Jesus set free the animals in the temple that the people were selling for sacrifice. As for me, once I wanted to know God more, I became vegan. There is no violence on His 'holy mountain', and my spirit knows it's right not to eat dead flesh and cause suffering and harm

You're one of very few on here that actually comprehends what/who God really is. He is not found in a book rewritten by man and he certainly never told people to kill innocent beings. The atheists reject God as being cruel and the Bible people think God gave us animals to eat.... the truth is not found in either of those theories.

    1. Animals were created for the use and consumption of humans
    2. Animals are not sentient, and do not need moral consideration
Is it possible to “prove” him wrong? Or does the conversation just end here?

Sorry Ed but go to the bottom of the bible study class because in Acts 10 it says about Peter "The next day as they were nearing the city, Peter went up on the flat roof of his house to pray. It was noon and he was hungry, but while lunch was being prepared, he fell into a trance. 11 He saw the sky open and a great canvas sheet,[a] suspended by its four corners, settle to the ground. 12 In the sheet were all sorts of animals, snakes, and birds forbidden to the Jews for food.[b]
13 Then a voice said to him, “Go kill and eat any of them you wish.”
14 “Never, Lord,” Peter declared, “I have never in all my life eaten such creatures, for they are forbidden by our Jewish laws.”
15 The voice spoke again, “Don’t contradict God! If he says something is kosher, then it is.”
So clearly the Christian God is not squeamish about killing a few animals for your sustenance.

I don’t know much about other Religions but in Modern Christianity Jesus was the sacrificial lamb that ended any and all need for animal sacrifice. Also Genesis 1:29 ‘Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.” ‘ I don’t know how modern Christians to argue against plant based diets -were humans not designed to be plant based until the introduction of original sin in Eden ?

    THE BIBLE AND VEGANISM
    ADAM AND EVE WERE VEGAN
It is my understanding that in ‘the beginning’ there was no suffering or predation, no death. The world was created perfectly. Adam and Eve were made perfect and in the image and likeness of God and so they did not consume animals. They did not wear clothing and made no use of animals to facilitate this or any other activity. There was no sickness or death. They did not kill animals for any reason. This creation of God by his own admission was ‘good’.
Importantly, God specifically commanded Adam to consume ‘seed-bearing plants’ only and told him that this was his ‘FOOD’. And that he was to have dominion over the animals and therefore take responsibility for them, not eat them. This was God’s original design.
“I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.” - God, Genesis 1:29
Adam and Eve were by our modern-day standards, the definition of vegan.
Throughout the Bible, the consumption of animal products and feasting are very closely associated with sinfulness. Predation, murder, death and the need for animal exploitation started when sinfulness began and is also marked by the consumption of animal flesh by humans. It is also significant that meat-eating is associated with food scarcity.

ANIMAL SACRIFICE DOES NOT JUSTIFY CONSUMPTION
Before the flood, Abel son of Adam and Eve ‘kept’ animals but these were for sacrifice ONLY, not for human consumption. These would have been burnt offerings to God. Humans were only permitted by God to eat the meat of animals in the covenant God made with Noah AFTER the flood not before.
      Negative Impact of Eating Meat:
Eating meat coincided with the DECREASE IN LIFESPAN of humans after the flood. So the consumption of meat comes at a cost in terms of longevity if we use the lifespan of notable individuals in the bible. This is why the lifespan of Methuselah and the others mentioned before the flood is so important. The lifespans of those mentioned in Genesis chapters 1-9 were nearly a thousand years. Methuselah the longest-lived human was taken to God just before the floods so that he would not be condemned with the unrighteous AT RHE AGE OF 969 leaving Noah as the only opportunity for righteous humans to repopulate the earth, but Noah, unlike all his ancestors, had a shortened lifespan and those who came after him even shorter. For the 10 generations after the flood, their life expectancy averaged around 319 years. God allowed the consumption of animals due to scarcity of food post-flood and allowed this to continue only due to man’s inherent weakness.
Abel is often used by Christian people who eat animals to prove that God’s intention was for them to consume meat however the reason why God favoured Abel’s sacrifice over Cain's is not that it was a meat sacrifice (one that meat-eaters of today would prioritise) but because of what the sacrifice itself represented. To make that sacrifice, Abel would have had to work harder to keep the animals alive, to find or grow food for them, to take them to water, or to bring water to them, to keep them safe so that they could LIVE LONG ENOUGH TO DEPOSIT A LARGE AMOUNT OF FAT. The fat deposit is therefore a measure of the TIME and EFFORT put into the production of this sacrifice. This would have represented a huge sacrifice for Abel in comparison to that of Cain who would have had an easier time farming crops that did not require as much attention and after planting would have been dependent on the environmental conditions more than the actions of the farmer. Abel’s sacrifice was more substantial not only in terms of the hours spent, and the calories wasted in raising the animals but also in terms of the possible uses for the fattened lamb to get milk from and the use of its wool for clothing, etc. Cain’s ‘sacrifice’ was less favoured because it did not involve so much EFFORT to make it, not because the meat was more desirable to God.
People often state that God sent Abraham a lamb to ‘sacrifice’ and therefore sustaining themselves by eating animals is completely justified, but the lamb was to take the place of his son who God had asked him to. offer as a sacrifice as a test of faith. Are we then to assume that he would have eaten his son? Burnt offerings were not consumed. That is why they were a ‘sacrifice’. Giving up the opportunity to consume them IS the act of sacrifice since you lose the opportunity to make use of them.
Jesus was concerned with the abuse of rituals within the temple by the Pharisees. They would insist on the observation of so many religious days of obligation. Days which would involve the people most of whom were relatively poor having to bring animals for sacrifice so that the temple, the people who provided the animals for sacrifice and those who provided facilities for ritual cleansing and lodging etc. (as they would often have to travel to their home towns or into the city for these rituals) could profit. Jesus was against rituals for ritual's sake and if the spirit of God’s word was not being followed. He felt the Pharisees were simply exploiting the people. His views on the way Judaism was being practised and his teachings put him at odds with the Pharisees because they required adherence to the law. This adherence to the Law conferred them with a lot of power, influence and wealth. Jesus’ teachings, therefore, represented a direct threat to all of that. There are parallels to the way we are living today and the way that various churches exploit their congregations but that is a matter for another discussion. Jesus was therefore the ultimate sacrifice. He referred to himself as the Lamb of God. Presumably, no further sacrifices at the temple would be necessary. More on this later.

MEAT-EATING WHEN FOOD IS NOT SCARCE IS ABOUT TEMPTATION AND DESIRE AND THIS TEMPTATION AND DESIRE IS WHAT LEADS TO SINFULNESS
Throughout the bible, a period of excess involving copious amounts of animal products ‘feasting’ often precludes a period during which the people of God turn away from him. God gave the Jewish people Manna from heaven during the exodus from Eygpt. This was a plant-based food that would address their every dietary need but while Moses was on Mount Sinai Speaking to God and getting the 10
commandments the people turned away from their God towards false idols. They were no longer satisfied by the wholesome plant-based food provided by God despite the fact they had no physiological need. The ‘desire’ for the flesh of animals was there, and while they were susceptible to these desires they were also more susceptible to other sinful activities. They created false idols and descended into sinful behaviours. This is how meat-eating is linked to sinfulness in the Bible. Succumbing to the TEMPTATION of taking an animal's life for the pleasure of our taste rather than due to NECESSITY is seen as the gateway that allows other forms of sin to coexist.
THE BIBLE ADVOCATES FOR A PLANT-BASED DIET
The original creation as discussed previously was vegan by today’s standards.
Sin and consumption of animal products are intertwined in the descriptions of how sinfulness is expressed in the bible along with other activities which are judged to be more sinful by society.
Abstinence from animal products is often part of spiritual activities and a mark of closeness to God in the bible. Various figures within the bible set themselves apart from worldliness by either abstaining from animal products or actively promoting the consumption of plant-based food rather than animal-based foods. God in the first instance when he commands Adam to consume plants as his source of food, John the Baptist, Samson, David, Isiah and Ezekiel and everyone from Genesis Chapter 1-9 is plant-based.
Ezekiel Bread to this day is a bread made from sprouted seeds and grains that provides large amounts of all the essential amino acids that the body needs to sustain life. We now recognise the superior nutrition derived from sprouted seeds and microgreens which would have been more commonly consumed in the past than they are now.
David demonstrated how a whole foods plant-based diet was superior to the ‘royal’ meat-based diet for health and mental clarity and converted the king and his court to a plant-based diet. If that was not significant it probably wouldn’t have been included in the bible.
The staple foods of the Israelites are plant-based. Bread made with grains and legumes, wine and Olive oil sustained them along with other plant-based foods. They ate very little animal products generally. These were usually reserved for feasts days and celebrations.
Orthodox Christianity as practised in Ethiopia one of the oldest Christian communities has 250 days of fasting per year. These are days when animal products should not be consumed. 180 of those should be observed by everybody the other 70 by religious leaders and those who are devout. This emphasises the idea that a plant-based diet or abstaining from meat is what needs to happen to bring people closer to God. Romanised Christianity had to appeal to former pagans who would have found it more of a challenge to restrict animal products consumption and so we see less emphasis placed on this issue in the Christian practices influenced by Rome. They also made other allowances to make the transition to Christianity more palatable such as changing days of observance to coincide with pagan traditions so that the people would not feel that they had missed out on too much.
Today, Jewish people in Israel have made a move toward a plant-based diet with 5% of the population identifying as vegan and a large number actively increasing the plant-based component of their diets justifying their position using the Torah and having examined the text in a more original form than the Old Testament.
      FOOD SCARCITY
In the Bible consumption of meat is also linked to food scarcity so after the flood when the crop plants and fruits and vegetables would have been either completely wiped out or difficult to reach underwater, Noah and his family were allowed to consume certain animals that they had taken onto the arc. Noah sent out a dove which eventually returned with an olive branch. This brought hope because it not only demonstrated that there were now areas of land exposed and that plants could grow on it, but that a food crop that was central to their way of life was able to survive. Olives would she been important for their survival as food because it was a relatively healthy oil incorporated into their daily diets along with bread and wine. It was used for lighting lamps and rituals and anointing especially of kings. It also represented a source of significant income/bargaining power due to its important uses in society at that time right up to the time of Christ.
Jesus fed the five thousand with a few loaves of bread and a handful of fish because otherwise, they would have starved to death. Though Jesus could have performed a miracle to produce more fish and bread he made the little that they had to go further. The emphasis is on MAKING DO with what you have. We can’t use that situation where thousands sustained themselves on a tiny amount of food during a dire situation in which all faced certain death as a justification for factory farms, eating animal products in every meal and snack every single day of our lives, and for consuming Haribo sweets. And certainly not when other products are easily available that do not include loss of life.
JESUS, SPIRITUALITY RELIGIOUS LEADERS AND FOOD CHOICES
The Bible associates a plant-based diet and the removal of animal products/fasting/abstinence with spirituality and a desire to be closer to God. This is seen in other religions as well. John the Baptist who baptised Jesus and abstained from animal products (including locusts since it is thought that it was a bean that is referred to rather than the animal and this bean is found in the region) is an example. Samson is another. Nazirites like John the Baptist and Samson have made a vow to serve God and evidence of that is their strict vegetarianism along with not cutting their hair. John the Baptist heralded the coming of the Messiah so it is noteworthy that he tried to live in accordance with the plant-based diet first prescribed by God and that Jesus chose to be baptised by someone like him.
Jesus commanded his disciples to consume plant-based products IN HIS MEMORY. Bread from grains and wine from grapes, not animal-based products. The last meal that he shared with the people charged with continuing his work on Earth was not only plant-based but so important as a means to distinguish them as ‘believers’ that Jesus told them to continue to commune in this way in his memory. Feast/celebrations and gatherings of that day would have almost certainly contained some animal products unless it was to mark a period such as Passover when they would have to abstain. The fact that Jesus told his disciples to eat bread and wine and not fish, lamb or dairy products in his memory has significance since they would be gathering in his memory as followers of Christ for the rest of their lives. He was commanding them to eat like the people before the flood had eaten. why would he insist that they eat this way he knew some were fishermen by trade? And why would he tell them that he would make them ‘Fishers of Men’ rather than fishermen if it was not an encouragement to move away from that trade and towards a spiritual calling?
When Jesus referred to himself as the ‘lamb of God’ it was in reference to him being an ultimate sacrifice something given up and not consumed to bring about the end of sin and DEATH.
When he referred to himself as the ‘bread of life’ it was about ‘consuming’ his words and being ‘nourished’ by them so that humanity can release itself from sinfulness and LIVE.

      Conclusions
Whether you are a believer or not it is clear that the people who wrote the bible demonstrate an understanding of human nature. There is a recognition that humanity is capable of using its intelligence to bring about its own destruction and this started with something as simple as temptation and food choices. It fascinates me that thousands of years ago groups of people made this observation and wrote the old testament and then thousands of years later others continued to speak on this issue and two thousand years after that because of our desire for animal flesh rather than the need for it we are still grappling with the same issues. We are willing to put our salvation at risk for our food choices.
      Romans 14:20
‘Do not tear down the work of God for the sake of food. All things indeed are clean, but they are evil for the man who eats and gives offence.’
Christians are in this situation now where they can eat animals because they consider animals to be ‘clean’ however if they know the process of eating animals is destroying the work of God ‘the planet’ then they are in fact committing a sin. Christians should be mindful of their dietary choices since it was the consumption of forbidden fruit that led to the fall from grace of humanity.
I found this when I was looking into the issue again and it ties in with my idea that what ever God specifically instructs us to ‘consume’ physically or spiritually is plant based.
The Feast of First Fruits was celebrated the third day, the 16th of Nisan. This “third day” celebration was the same day that Jesus resurrected from the dead. In 1 Corinthians 15:20 Paul refers to Jesus as the first fruits of the dead. He represents the first of the great harvest of souls - including you - that will resurrect to eternal life because of the new covenant in his blood (Luke 22:20).U
