I was lucky to be able to help out Conrad with some of the work needed on that car. Amazing to see it in its completed form and out on the road. I did that dash and those beautiful wheels!
A compelling story about a lovely Alfa TZ1 - a car that I have admired since it appeared in the Alfa brochure in 1964 or 1965. This example with restoration by Conrad Stevenson is simply magnificent. Designed by Ercole Spade, the TZ1 and its successor the TZ2 are masterpieces from the golden era of car design and motorsport.
Thank you. The TZ is a very special car to me, it's a gift and a pleasure to have it feature in a high quality video. I do wish there was a bit more car, driving and engine, as much as I appreciate the stories and the people that have always made your videos special
I’ve watched a few Petrolicious vids now and they all tug at my heartstrings. I love the stories of the people and their cars and remind why I love cars so much. Only a true petrolhead would get them and I fear we are a dying breed in the age of electrification and worthy but mainly boring modern cars.
took a birthday adventure in 2018 from Missouri to my friend Curtis' old barn looking across the Russian river. we took stock of my Ducati 851's AL tank with it's cursed & bruised exterior. it was a great time hanging out with Curtis & his giant amounts of talent eased gently by the affable demeanor. i took notice of the TZ but tried to act like it was secondary every time we entered the barn to further the evolution of my 851 tank's aesthetics. finally, the tank was completed & it was time to chill & take in the barn's artifacts, tools, bikes and the TZ. Curtis accommodated the camera's needs & we took advantage of the short time. the intricate beauty of this car is something we didn't get to see here in this vid, but i have the pics to demonstrate; the engine bay, the quality of the assembly & the hand built aura of all the components will make one gobsmacked. i had an extremely wonderful Kalifornia birthday amongst a Bologna gas tank & a San Germano legend.
That last minute brought me to tears! It's crazy how the classic car community is so emotionally attached to these vehicles. Absolutely wonderful video, thank you so much!
I usually love Petrolicious videos and can’t stop binging on them on my Saturday mornings. However in this episode there simply wasn’t enough footage of the actual car. We never got a good, broad view of this wonderful Alfa. :(
Great job. I cried when your video is finished. I living in Milan near Portello the Home Factory of Alfa Romeo. Enzo Ferrari was here. We love that car but the future is not good 😭😭. Thank you from Italy 🇮🇹🇮🇹🏎🏎🏎🇮🇹🇮🇹
16 out of a hundred. That's how rare and precious this car is. Apart from being incredibly beautiful of course. Thanks for keeping the Alfa Romeo flame alive in this dark times of scientific destruction of old historic Italian brands. Lancia is gone and Alfa will soon be. These masterpieces must be kept as mementoes of what has been and will never be again.
a beauty on wheel , congratulations for the job ! the front is almost so exiting as the 33 stradale , the rest of the car has a breathtaking shape , this kind of cars can give you emotions also thru the pictures and videos , fortunately
Im motor trade in the UK, there will only ever be one car make that links to my heart. Alfa Romeo. its the feeling of driving them and the good and sometimes bad of the engineering, BUT. Alfa have the balls to do it.
Some TZ 1s were build in my home town of Udine Italy in 1963 till TZ 2s was introduced in 1964 and were built in Settimo Milanese as racing cars till 1965. The TZ is a masterpiece of Carlo Chiti, he also designed the tipo 33 and the F1 V12 engine cars

This was such a great episode! Petrolicious is really back in its stride with this series, especially after the Hyundai Veloster debacle. Really great stuff
Above Stinson Beach CA. For ads, the production folks typically run a water truck through, preceding the hero run, to "gleam" and sparkle the asphalt. Gorgeous car and an admirable commitment to it. Maybe it's necessary now that so many people's attention spans are so short, but I don't think there was a shot in the video held more than 1 second and it had a negative effect on it for me.
we will, once PSA has made Alfa profitable they will focus on brand building again. And with modular electric platforms on the cards we will see beautiful shapes sooner rather than later as it's easier to make them when everything underneith is scalable/modular. Have faith ;)
In the 1980s there was a TZ1 kit car offered. One could buy a tack welded tubular chassis, a fiberglass body, weld up the chassis, source parts, and have a reasonable facsimile of a TZ1. I don't know how many were actually sold, much less built. I do know that I wanted one, they are beautiful cars. Such a Beautiful car when Form really followed function and no bit was built to emulate an older bit in some retro fashion - the TZ, the 33 straddle ah inwish I could see them driving in true anger…
One of the most beautiful race cars ever designed.
