One of the best looking cars I've ever seen.
You must be 10-11 years old.
No lies were detected in the above statement....
Is very beautiful indeed. I love this vintage sportscars. Another of my favorites, and from a very unknown brand is the Pegaso Z-102. A beautiful work of art of the engine world.
@@bierlichen1 So what's a good looking car to **you** then?
It was before this idiot got his hands on it!
That is a sweet car... I made an exclamation when I saw this, I am 70 years old and love everything about this piece.
A sweet BADASS car
too damm cool
Well don't leave us hanging, what was your exclamation?
It was all a lie and the guy didn’t built any part of this car.
Damn
The car is a work of art, and presented in an art district really set it off!
Thank you for watching!
Hi Guy's!
I'm a Old School mechanic!
I have a business specialising in restoration and modification of these Cute little Swedish gems.
I currently have five of these cars
in my care !
Greetings from Windsor N.S.W.
Oztralia!
So I’m guessing you are not on the American continent?
That’s awesome, would love to come film them!
Back in the eighties a buddy of mine was torn between buying the P1800 or a Porsche Speedster. He couldn't afford the Speedster and bought the P1800 instead. I named it the Swedster.😁 Yours is absolutely stunning!
Nice name! I made the video for my buddy Ken, check out his channel here with more clips of the Sinner www.youtube.com/@Thesinner1800
@@IAMRobertLyon Great video too.
I've seen a black with red interior in Britain.
That one is something else. Just beautiful.
These cars are severely underrated. Beautiful lines like the Italian sports cars of the time but with one of the most reliable and easy to work on engines ever produced. Love all the modifications on this one. One of a kind car.
The white letters just make that car look so wicked 👌
Agree!
This Volvo is phenomenal. I have always found the P1800 to be utterly beautiful, I haven't seen one restomoded like this and it is stunning. Immediately looking for one now.
As a pure Swede, I must say you made one hell of a job making this rare and iconic beauty even more beautiful.
This car is so sick, well done
Hands-down, the coolest and most BADASS Volvo ever to exist!
I bow before thee!!
This car is an absolute masterpiece. I want one.
Ive always loved the Volvo P1800, but THIS one is gorgeous!!
i never knew anything about this car, but THIS one is gorgeous!!
As a Swede, my opinion on this is ... its probably the best looking P1800 I've seen. Nice work.
Cheers.
Thanks for watching!
Agreed! Gorgeous car! Top-notch build!
I grew up on The Saint (Moore) and have always had a soft spot for the 1800. Nicely done!
This is a pure piece of art
Outstanding, true to yourself. Your P 1800 would get my trophy pick.
I can't believe I lived this long without knowing about this piece of art. What a magnificent piece of engineering.
SAME!
Hell yes.
I'm 74 and fell in love with the P1800 as a teen. Yours is a stunner.
Had a 71 1800E as a young man as my daily driver for 3.5 years, loved it and was very reliable. Probably my favorite car to date, I'm 69 now.
Had a '67 1800 S but that E was a very stylish edition of the model. Loved mine to death!
Nice.
Damn, what a beautiful car. Those lines are amazing.
I read all of the Saint novels by Leslie Charteris. They started in 1928 with “Meet The Tiget” I’d ride my bike to used book stores to look for them.. I grew up watching Roger Moore in The Saint. My Stepmother owned a 1973 P188 when she married my dad. I’ve loved them since. I WANT this car.
Robert this turned out great. You really hit it out of the park. Enjoy and thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Gorgeous, only Volvo I ever fell in love with.
A beautiful classic ! Great restoration ! "Now , The Saint has a darker nemesis ! Behold , "THE SINNER" Volvo P 1800 S ! A truly dynamic rival 👍👍👍👍 !
That is the epitome of beautiful car. Truly beautiful
Thanks for watching!
I'm an old guy and remember the P1800 as a real bargain GT, although out of my range. The Saint TV show was based on a series of books in the 1930's and 40's, written by Leslie Charteris. The stick figure "saint" with a halo was always on the book cover. The "sinner" figure is a nice take-off. This is real nice restoration especially for a first timer and for a car of this sort who cares if it gets demerits at an auto show.
This is one of the coolest cars I have ever seen hands down...
What the 1965 Mustang should have been!! Badass car, would also love to own one!!
You've done a beautiful job, it's amazing, would be proud to own it!!
I owned 2 1967 P1800S when I was a starving college student. I loved the cars, ever comfortable and reliable.
60's cars never cease to amaze me. I've been enthralled with American muscle from the 60s, but recently, foreign cars from that era are entering my awareness. This mod has a definite American muscle flavor to it.
I like what you did with the modifications. I own a 64 1800S driver that is very original , Red over black. Love the styling of these cars! Owning these cars are special in that people just don't see them often. My car always stands out at shows that are filled with all the typical American muscle cars.
You nailed it. I can't think of anything I would change.
The wheels. Tyres at least.
@@PawsleyDirt Ok. The white letters on the tires.
a real beauty! authenticity is the word
Love it. The black with red interior, the stance, everything is perfect.
Never seen one before, I would marry this car it's stunning 😍
Here in the UK an iconic white P1800 is the holy grail - because of the connection with The Saint TV series. Unfortunately back in the day the car was not as sporty as it’s looks would suggest and performance wise it was certainly no match for an E Type. However you’ve really nailed it with this car, it’s great. Well done.
Absolutely stunning.
When Volvo made truly beautiful cars. Love what you've done with it
LOVE IT! My first car was a 122s Volvo "Amazon" that was very responsive and exotic in 1972 Missouri. But I was working at the Chrysler assembly plant where they were making muscle cars that couldn't take a corner (and catching hell from co-workers), even tho' I loved the power of a V8. I finally drove a 1800 ES and was terribly disappointed in it's acceleration and body roll. So kept bouncing between Volvo (142, 264, 740turbo, V90, v70) & US cars numerous times, settling on BMWs. After seeing your car and seeing what it could be, I need to revisit my 1800 obsession.
Thanks for watching!
It's one pretty looking car, and a perfect example of the automobile as art. Clever name too!
I just found this video of another of these beauties
Jay Leno's site -

Few cars have this much aesthetic appeal. Objectively one of the most beautiful cars in the world.
Quite possibly the best looking car I've ever seen and I've been around
I don't know what I'm more admired of... your great taste or your craftsmanship... car is gorgeous!
I'm not what most folks would call a car guy, but this? this is just sorcery man, just beautiful.
I agree! Thanks for watching
Simple and so stylish. Beautiful
This is one of the best cars ever built. The P1800s will only get more valuable every year. They used to put superchargers on 4-cylinder Volvos.
We had a 1960s sedan and wagon. Now you know every inch of that wonderful car because you built it. Wonderful job. I love your car.
This video restored my love for restored oldies. My favorite tune up of all time. Thank you ❤
Thanks for watching!
Dude! This is one of the best looking cars that I've ever seen. I've never imagined being in love with a Volvo. This is a killer build. My hats off to you.
It wouldn’t truly be a Volvo conversation without mentioning the legendary P1800 and its incredible 3.5 million miles by one owner. Incredible! Does not get more Volvo than that!
A keeper. I like how you removed the bumpers and added wide tires. Very cool.
making a piece of art of something which is in bad condition is the best way to preserving cars. i love it. i will do the same with my old hated car.
Stunning 1800! Definitley a bucket list car for me.
What a great interpretation of that car! Beautiful
An eye catching classic, for sure!
That's an incredibly beautiful car.
Nothing about this I don't like. What a slick car!
Badass 1800 S!
I love what you did to this car. But then I was always more drawn to sinners that saints! Wonderful aesthetics.
Beautiful freaking beautiful! And with loving respect to the legendary "red" block that runs forever. 1800 is a dream for me. I have had 122, 240, 740, 960, 850r, xc70.........and a few more but 1800 has escaped me so far
Get one- you will LOVE it!
I’ve always loved this Volvo, outstanding restoration!
my heart stop for a second when I see the thumbnail, u know just like seeing a beautiful girl..
Seriously Rob you have really inspired me.
I am in my very early twenties and have no time nor interest for any of these new machines coming out of the AUTOMOTIVE industry.
My heart beats only for older cars with DESIGNS, TECHNOLOGY and ETHOS that are never ever ever going to be replicated in mass production.
You know, looking at the current market most restomods are been done by small boutique houses and cost a fortune the equivalent of the price of some of the modern supercars or hypercars as well as being ultra limited (In the case of your Volvo 1800S you have companies like CYAN).
But this project of yours is a testament that with some patience and girt it is possible to achieve great results SOLO.
Beautiful work 👏
I think Roger would have approved. Great job. (I used to watch The Saint as a kid, and I wanted to be Roger Moore...)
Long time fan of the P1800. In theory, ‘rodding’ a P1800 by slamming it, adding fat white sidewall wheels with oversized arches, shouldn’t work, but boy it does. And credit to the owner for having done all the work himself. Lovely job and attention to detail. F*cking love it.
😮 Whaaat! That’s a Volvo?! Freakin’ sweet looking ride! Well done 👏🏾
The turquoise color inlayed into the background of the gauges is badazz.
That's original to the car
@@kcirfulI had to repaint one of the gauges. Disassembly is risky w the chrome bevels, but it was worth it. Matched the turquoise and you cannot tell which one is original
I had a 2008 C30, (kind of a grandchild to the P1800 wagon), for 12 years. It was a great car and I really regret selling it. But those 1800s were beautiful cars! This one is a great restomod! Nice work!
Nice!! You did a great job with The Sinner!! If this was your first car renovation I'm even more impressed! It turned at beautiful! Greetings from SWEDEN🏴☠
Yes,this was my first. Stay tuned for the next project!
I always loved the 1800 look and wonder why it is under appreciated. This build takes it to another level and left me wanting one
The Saint was aired in the U.S. too.
The P1800 has always been one of my favorite cars. The "E" flying brake version was equally attractive.
Nice job on yours, by the way.
I had a 64, still the most fun I have ever enjoyed in a small, under-the-radar vehicle. Beautiful build! Extra points for sticking to the original powerplant.
Back in the late 70's my buddy had a '67. Dark green with a tan interior. That's when I fell in love with the P1800. Love what you've done with yours! Great job! ✌
My dad had a 64 B18 when I was a kid. The 4 speed shifter was about 36in long. To this day I always wanted to resto mod one. Never ran across one to do and I ended up doing a 66 C10. Nice job on you Volvo brings back so many memories.
That car could come with the same motor as the 1800S . My cousin had one and it went like a bat outta hell. Even tho it looked like a grampa car...
I've always loved the P1800 design and shape. IMHO this is the nicest looking one I've ever seen and the "making it yours" modifications reveal your excellent tastes. Very well done Sir! Borrowing from the p-car world, this should be specified proudly as a "P1800 Outlaw". "The Sinner" is a perfect name for it too.
P1800 is one of my favorite cars. One of my parents' employees at their repair garage owned one and he was the coolest cat. Fond memories. Great car! Beautiful restoration!
Nice job my dad had one in the sixties. Wish he was still here to see yours.RIP dad .
I never met a Volvo I liked… until now! This is a BEAUTY! Well done, sir!
Love it man!
Beautiful! Love black with red interior!
As a proud Volvo owner I am in awe at what you’ve created. I love absolutely everything about this machine- but the lowering and the widening of the wheels with those fender flares?? Absolutely improves the original design.
Can you tell how much Robert Lyon just LOVES cars? We used to call this car the Batmobile. Still looks great in 2024!
Beautiful car, well made video. Hope to see more like this!
Absolutely gorgeous Volvo!!!
Gorgeous modifications, looks amazing! Well done.
Well, done for sure! Especially for a guy who doesn’t have a history in restoring cars! Truly fantastic! Beautiful ride!
Never heard of this model, WOW, very sharp, I like the nice changes you made. I also like that you didn’t make chop up a car that should’ve just had a sympathetic restoration instead (thank you) Excellent video quality as well
Thanks for sharing 😊
Super sweet car! This model Volvo has always been one of my favorite styled cars..... The color combo is excellent!
Very nice restoration and upgrades! My uncle had the P1800 wagon. He made a wagon look cool to be in.
Love the wagon/estate with the all glass tailgate...
Ken Russell you did a wonderful job on this P1800! Very knowledgeable too. I always wondered why this particular model looked so good and was such a departure from standard Volvo; now I know - the Italians were involved! It all makes sense now
What a beautiful machine!
A breathtaking example of perhaps the most beautiful Volvo ever produced. I love the 1800's and I have to thank you for saving one.
There is no perhaps. It is the most beautiful Volvo ever made. And in my opinion even by today's standards it's beautiful, doesn't really look that dated despite the fins and laplanders.
Nice interpretation of a classic. Always loved the show and adored the car. Well done.
Absolutely stunning and a beautiful car. I’m sixty now and my late father always wanted this model, unfortunately practically and the cost didn’t allow it. He did own many early Volvos throughout his life though and when I see this particular model I always think of him. Great video thank you for sharing ❤️🇬🇧👍🏼
Very cool car. Equally cool video. Thanks! ❤ When I was in high school, in the late 1960s, the father of a buddy of mine owned one of these. I never got to drive it, but I’ll never forget sitting in it and working the shifter. It was built like a Swiss watch. Unbelievable technical excellence.
I’ve always been a lover of the brick Volvo’s but you’ve just convinced me that the 1800’s have potential - I love everything about this build!
You see these from time to time in San Francisco, but this is probably the coolest one I've seen.
Search Cyan Volvo P1800. It was featured on Jay Leno. This car is cooler in my opinion because it’s a well maintained original. The Cyan is a $300K museum piece. (Think Singer Porsche) ………and not that anyone will ever read this, but the 80’s Volvo 242’s with the turbo red block engine are also awesome.
A young man with exquisite taste. What is not to love but pure admiration! Wonderful choice brother
I LOVE THIS CAR.
Always loved the look of that car ever since I saw one in the '60s as a kid. You've done it justice.
I would love to drive this wonderful car on one of those twisty coastal roads between cliffs and with the sea at your side. There is nothing more pleasurable than driving these agile cars winding around the constant turns with the sea breeze as a companion.
sounds wonderful
