This guy just gets it. Down to earth, inspired, listens to others, humble. And most importantly, loves alfas and racing. Awesome video, awesome story, beautiful alfa. Keep it up Petrolicious.
I have the passion for Alfas, but not the money. That´s why my daily driver is a Alfa 156 Sportwagon 1.9 Jtd from 2000, one of the first 156 Spotwagon ever made and i love it, even with the front wheel drive and the diesel engine it is a pleasure to drive,. 2 turns of the steering from top to top makes for a very direct front, the direction is really something special in these underappreciated alfas, i feel everything that the front wheels are doing and the front suspension makes it feel not a front drive machine. I´m sorry for you guys in the United States that don't know these beautiful 156 cars, we call them "Bellas" here in Europe, with good reason. I wish that here where i do live, in Portugal by the way, we had the same level of monetary income as you guys, but even so we have very beautiful and rare examples of classic alfas, the Portuguese people have always loved Italian cars like Alfa Romeo, Lancia and Fiat, but classic Alfas are alive and well here, for such a little country as we are i really think we are as real Alfisti as any, second only to the Italians.
I have to say, this is one of the few petrolicious videos where I have enjoyed listening to the owner as much as listening to the car. nice video well done
never before have i found a video on youtube with such incredibly well spoken and positive feedback in the comments. this lovely work of carefully made art (not only the car but the production of this video as well) has elicited emotions from the thousands of true car lovers that watched this and the comments show just how strong this community can be. no shit talking, no criticism, no nonsense. just a bunch of people who share the same love for this magnificent creation and for cars in general. incredible video and very very impressive car
As an italian I feel proud when I see this stuff being loved in far countries. My father has "teached" me to love Alfa Romeo since he has always possessed an Alfa as own car: first a Giulia 1600, then Alfetta 1800, Alfa 90 2000 6 cylinders, Alfa 164.. I love those cars and their sound. Of course the ones of this video is much more precious, but all of them have the same "soul".. Great car and great video.
Yes George, I was thinking the same thing. Mostly the positioning of the lights and the slightly downward facing grill immediately reminded me of the Lusso.
Been there, done that and going back again this year for more. Everything said here is so spot on. The love of cars, the passion to build them and the joy of living life to the fullest while driving them. The La Carrera Panamericana offers all of that and more.
Excellent show. Alphas are on the scene in some of my best memories. I fell in love with them at 17, 1969, in Rome, Milan and Turino. I bought a used 71 giulia 1750 in the early 80s and loved it, but I blew a seal and it seized up. Careless. I put a piece of plywood on my dining room floor and took the engine apart, put in new rings. Tried to get it back together, but I screwed up somewhere and it wouldn't turn over. Sold it for parts. Sad. But my best friend had a 72 GT Veloce 2 litre with dual Webers and I drove it often. Such a lovely exhaust note. Ah, me.
Your viewpoint on life sir, especially with those words at the end, is to be envied by many, including myself. You are living the dream. Amazing job on that car, I love how you took it to a personal level by combining multiple years of design. I love your car.
I met Conrad in the early nineties. I was apprenticing at a nearby race shop and decided to stop by his place during my lunch break. I was driving my '68 1300 Jr. that wasn't in good health. Conrad not only spent time talking to me, he gave me advice on my car. I don't know if he remembers me but I remember him every time I fire up my Jr.
In 1966 I was working for a SAAB/ Volvo dealership. We took a Sprint Speciale in on trade for a Monte Carlo. I was privileged to drive it. Celestial, and never forgotten.
Alfas just have an essence to them, they're so special. I had a '77 GTV, that I bought for a few hundred dollars. It overheated half the time, had numerous electrical gremlins I could never track down, and it was half rust, but, on those days when it was running right, it made me feel like a hero behind the wheel!
Here in Portugal we have several of those in enthusiasts and collector hands, i´v seen a few and i tell you they are something, in the 70´s they were used as ambulances here
I come back to this video time and time again. This Alfa really got to me. Bertone's design was OK, but I didn't take to the Giulietta SS and Giulia SS. I preferred the coupes. But what you did with the original design was remarkable. In my view you improved on the shape and made it look incredibly dynamic even when the car is standing still. Very dramatic! Congratulations!
@@MrWolf-xk8sl Good for you! We all have our individual preferences. As I said, I preferred the coupe, also a Bertone design, and of courrse the Zagato versions.
Fastest patchwork quilt I've ever seen wow great video and brilliant guy who knows what to do for the performance and handling needed for safe racing 😍🍀🍀🍀🍀🏁
Excellent! Bravo! This is the kind of videos that cause my love for Petrolicious! What a great Alfa! And this guy knows what motorsports are all about!
Beautiful job and car. I like his styling and changes. I was familiar with this Alfa model and always liked it. I currently own a 1982 Alfa Spider Veloce, one of 1440 produced. The TZ3, Stradale V8, and Alfa Bertone Spider are others I like..
Y'all [Petrolicious] make the best automobile videos! Not only are the videos sharp & informative, the soundtracks w/ ea of the videos fit like a glove; a masterful job! Keep it up.
the past few videos by petrolicious have been sort or bland and not about the car or the history. but this was fantastic. this stayed true to the older videos and i hope they keep making them like this because i absolutely love these videos
Something very beautiful in seeing an old car being driven so enthusiastic and full of passion. The owner/driver/builder is a human counterpart of that car :) Even though numbers mean nothing for these things i would still love to hear some specs of the engine.
I love how some Alfas look like Ferraris, the Giulietta Spider looks like a 250 California, and the Giulia Speciale looks like a 250 Berlinetta Lusso, and so much more.
I love the 'pinned up' face of these old alfas - BMW also had a few designs where there is a beautiful mix of a long thin grille and circular headlights
Yet another amazing video. Kudos for passion of both Petrolicious and to mr. Stevenson. I am just sad I dont have opportunity to be surrounded by these kind of people. It would mean more than jackpot.
Thank you for this channel. It makes me happy every time I watch it. I would love to race any car in a setting like that let alone a hand built Alfa! Soon I will stop making excuses and make it happen!
Respect.............. Beautiful car! I believe the same as him. I love Alfas for being underdog. Most importantly cars should be DRIVEN..........not museum pieces!
Both. Some cars were the defining design of art, or engineering, and defined an era, while some eras defined what was created, but usually the prior lead to the later. But great question!
This guy just gets it. Down to earth, inspired, listens to others, humble. And most importantly, loves alfas and racing. Awesome video, awesome story, beautiful alfa. Keep it up Petrolicious.
Ditto!
I wish I had a passion like that for cars.

Yes - I'm with you!
The Alfa Romeo Giulia SS (Sprint Speciale) is one of the most beautiful cars ever, I can only dream
my father used to own one back at 1970s , but the ass-head sold it !!! now it costs about a quarter of mil.
7:09 - 7:38, the most inspiring line I've ever heard! It's a line to remember, it's a line to stick to!
Gives me goosebumps :)
Dear Petrolicious, please never stop making videos.
I have to say, this is one of the few petrolicious videos where I have enjoyed listening to the owner as much as listening to the car. nice video well done
"life is too short, you have to do it, you have to go..."
Great car, legendary owner. Takes an amazing person to make a 3rd of the shell of a car sitting on a fence into a race car.
What a cool guy. Brings a car back from this bad a state himself and then goes racing it. Maximum respect.
Pure Genius again!!!! You guys are just amazing and so are your guests!!!!! ALFA FOREVER!!!! Conrad, you are a humble genius my friend!!!!
Alfa Romeo's just have a way to get under your skin... It's really something amazing. Loved the video.
Respect for the owner for building that masterpiece. Good to see it's used the way it should be. Another full HD gem by Petrolicious
Every time these videos end I release a breath I didn't know I was holding.
"Like a patchwork quilt"
A perfect description of my Saab Sonett..
Awesome Alfa.
You weren't kidding when you stated you built it from the waist down....well done and that's a very nice car!
Exactly why I love racing and cars. Pure passion.

This guy is leaving my dream racing in an Alfa Romeo that looks that good and sounds so cool and the best of all he raced in Mexico!. Bravo bravo!!
You built that! Wow it looks like it came from the factory like that. What a masterpiece.
Best looking SS I've ever seen! :) Great story and video. Thanks all around... :)
I have always had a soft spot for the older Alfas. thank you Petrolicious and Mr. Stevenson for sharing your love of fine automobiles.
As an italian I feel proud when I see this stuff being loved in far countries. Beautiful car! Looks in some ways like a Ferrari 250 Lusso!
That or a Karmannghia :)
I was thinking the same, although the interior looks more like a 50's vette. interesting combo
Yes George, I was thinking the same thing. Mostly the positioning of the lights and the slightly downward facing grill immediately reminded me of the Lusso.
Thought the same too!
OMG! The car is unbelievably beautiful 🥰😍
Been there, done that and going back again this year for more.

The love of cars, the passion to build them and the joy of living life to the fullest while driving them. The La Carrera Panamericana offers all of that and more.
This has got to be the best channel on RUclips!!
I believe I m in love!! I have been watching this footage 10 times , what a beautiful car.
Another wonderfully made video about a guy and his passion and love for racing and car building. Loved it.
Fantastic!!! Conrad... your my hero... and your passion and effort have paid off. Excellent!!!!
One of my favorites of Alfa Romeo
Alfa Romeo is just the most special and UNDERSTATED maker of absolutely superb cars
What a beauty in both appearance and sound. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a 4 cylinder that sounds that good.
Excellent show. Alphas are on the scene in some of my best memories. I fell in love with them at 17, 1969, in Rome, Milan and Turino. Connie has the right idea he found his passion and he is sticking with it . Cheers Conrad !

Well put, about life, cars, and nice to see his passion shared.
That's why I have 7 Alfas. Passionne!!!
It's so beautiful. It just took my breath away. If I can define beauty, that would be perfect example of beauty.
In 1966 I was working for a SAAB/ Volvo dealership. We took a Sprint Speciale in on trade for a Monte Carlo. I was privileged to drive it. Celestial, and never forgotten.
Como amo este canal, gracias Petrolicious por existir. Y ese Alfa Romeo SS es una joya, espero poder ver uno antes de morir.
One of the best video's on this channel! Thanks!
Another lovely little film and a superb car; what a wonderful achievement.
Alfas just have an essence to them, they're so special. I had a '77 GTV, that I bought for a few hundred dollars. This channel keeps getting better and better. More vintage bikes please!
What a stunning car and how great to see it actually being raced with passion!
I got to run with Conrad and this car at a local (Nor Cal) rally this past summer. A great guy and a beautiful car!
Thank you, Petrolicious, for making awesome content available to us for free.
4:44 A Giulia Familiare in the background! Never seen one before even in Italy!

it's not a original car but still beautiful and respect to this guy keeping the passion going
You have to love passion for a vehicle, no matter what it is and how much money went into it. Well done sir!
I love how some Alfas look like Ferraris, the Giulietta Spider looks like a 250 California, and the Giulia Speciale looks like a 250 Berlinetta Lusso, and so much more.
Fantastic video! Love the emotion in this one! I wish I could thumbs up this video more then once!
Molto Buona! THE Best Car Channel On The Web! Grazie Mille!!

best video yet, a lovely car and entertaining narration
Magnificant again! Speechless..
Someday soon, I'll be doing what you guys do. Which is having a job that doesn't feel like one. Working with our hobby.
First car I personally bought is also an Alfa. A beautiful GTV.
Giovanni Foulmouth hehe my first car is a gt junior 1600
Question to ponder:
Does a car dictate an era in time; or does an era in time dictate the car?
Both. Some cars were the defining design of art, or engineering, and defined an era, while some eras defined what was created, but usually the prior lead to the later. But great question!
Top job again. Keep up the good work guys!
great vid, from one Alfa racer to another what a wonderful video!
Beautiful. Emotional. Soulful.
Thank you:-)
I like this dudes attitude. Even though he spend a shitload of money, he wants to race this thing to the max and take risks.
Awesome little car. Well done.
