Love this. When cars still had soul. Love the weirdo van with original patina he drives parts around in. Truly transports you back to another time. Well done.
I'm 72. After my years in British sport cars and about 5 BMW's, I bought my first Alfa over 20 years ago. Overall very reliable. My for last 156 1.8TS, in 10 years time, cost me about € 3500,-- maintenance. Not one had rust. The only weak point I found, electronics. I admire your work. As you are familiar with Europe, not many here are interested in a Corvette. as you probably know! Keep going Sir! Ps, there is one car I would prefer to end with, even more than a AR, a Triumph Italia. As I could do everything on it my self, as it's based on a TR3, my first car.
What an amazing surprise. I looked at the image on the home page, humm thought I, no thanks and accidentally clicked. So pleased I did. Was expecting the normal chat about the car, what I've done...etc.... This man, his understanding and passion for engineering, solutions, working around problems and lack of tools to fix to finish the race or rally. Beautiful to hear and see. Total respect, Thank you.
My dream job.... just with vintage BMWs... Studying mechanical engineering for now, only have 80s cars... A couple BMWs and a Ford, love working on old cars, would love to work with restoring them one day like this...
Wonderful documentary - thank you @Petrolicious for capturing so many aspects and nuances behind the work and dedication that goes into these restorations!
I'm italian, if I think that all these products were totally made in my country and they went overseas with a great admiration, it's very melancholy that all of this is disappeared.
I have a modern Alfa, the 4C, it’s not a perfect car to drive compared to my 6 speed Cayman S but every time I drive it in the back roads, it just takes my breath away. The feeling of driving it is not linear and comforting, just bombards you with senses even if it’s a dual clutch, both hands must be on the steering wheel because it’s very nervous but lots of grip. Backroad driving makes me sweat, body and hands. It’s terrifying to drive but at the same time satisfying. Period!
What a great story and vlog. As a mechanical engineer myself, I can say you are living the dream. The experience and knowledge you have is invaluable in preserving these pre 70s Alfa's. Would love to see more of the work you do.
When I was young I was working with my father back in the nineties and my father had clients with Alfa Romeo cars. They were fantastic, they had something apart compared to other brands.
i met Conrad at the historic races at laguna seca the year they featured the chaparral cars, im an alfa guy and lived in Berkley too.. cut to yrs later im touring on my ducati 998 getting gas at the tribal station in Bishop, ca. Well yes, 24hrs lemons is an endurance format held wherever local people organise it, basically getting a team together and racing the cheapest running car you can find for the time... or until the last car breaks 🤣
Great video and very inspiring story! This man is truly passioned for the Alfa's restoration, besides being very good at it... My family had a 1996 Alfa 145 (not a vintage, ok) and yes, parts were hard to find, but the car had a soul of it's own, and handled very well.
Great story! I can relate to the negative comments about certain brands of cars (I'm a Jaguar guy). I also love the fact the parts runner is Fiat Multipla, which is so fitting!
Very well done vid! Would love a "day/week in the life" of this guy, I know this is a compression of that, and still, a longer or 2 - 3 part presentation will get my full attention. So... thanks for this one, more to come, I hope!
My first car, back in 1967, was a 101 Series Sprint 1600 Normale. I learned bodywork as a result, it rusted. I've had many Alfas since then, none in 25 years or so though. At 74 I just don't have the energy for cars that demand lots of attention, so now my daily driver, my only car, is a 2016 Mazda MX-5/Miata. Summer and New Hampshire Winter, it is the car I drive.

Words don't do justice to the beauty & ctaftsmanship of these cars.
Beauty, ok, craftsmanship, maybe, but its easy to get an old Alfa because so many owners give up and get tired of trying to keep them running.
