    I think this approach is developing so well in America right now. More and more people are falling into that mentality of one car, drive it to the track, drive it to the store, etc. This really goes back to the true grassroots...the days when you bought a showroom Corvette and ran it at the SCCA Runoffs with a set of slicks and could win. It's that accessible form of motorsport and collection of like-minded enthusiasts. I believe the growth of road racing in America is finally arriving and growing in a healthy manner. Time Attack, rally's, Weathertech Championship, etc. This can be a great era if people get involved.

    A fine man, an admirable car and a perfectly executed video production. RUclips at its very finest. Mr. Price speaks with a humble integrity that can be a reminder for us all. The 4-cyl dohc Alfas were in a class of their own. My Giulia Super was the best car I ever owned. Keep on racing Mr. Price.

    I used to race at LimeRock in a 57 Giulietta Spyder the summers of 72 and 73. What a great track and the people were great. I was 18 years old at the time.

    In 1968 I bought a 1959 Alfa spyder from a man who had raced it at Lime Rock. It still had the number "73" on the doors and the "SCCA GP" designation on the sides. Loved that car but was forced to sell it a couple years later. Always wondered what happened to it after that. Maybe this is it. Would be happy if it was to see it still out on the track and being enjoyed. These cars are double overhead cam aluminum heads and the transmission housing and differential housing are also aluminum. Quite advanced for their time.

    When I was about 15 or 16, my friends father owned this car and back then, I didn't know what Alfa was. She was beautiful to look at but I was told that she only had about 80 hp or so. I was all about high hp figure and speed so it didn't intrigued at all. Now I'm 41 and thinking back after seeing this episode, what a privilege to had sat in the car and was taken for a short drive around the neighborhood.

Not compromising the closeup shots really added to the curiosity of the AUTODROMO stickers on Bradley's sweet carbon fiber lid. I have driven 1960 muscle cars, Berlinetta Boxer Ferrari's, Testarosa Ferraris but without a doubt the time I spend racing a TR3 was the most fun. It was more about you the driver instead of extreme horse power. You drove the car instead of accelerate, brake, turn, hold on, repeat. When you watch these races you get a little of how great it is but you really should try and get out there to really know.
    That is real racing!!

      We used to use this trick in the old days, (when most cars didn't have steering locks,can lead quickly to death otherwise), if you had a sports exhaust, (loud ),you would pick up some speed going down hill through town, then turn off the ignition so the car is turning over in gear but not firing ,when you noticed your preferred victim you would turn on the ignition and the unburned fuel would explode through the exhaust in a very loud explosion, much like a gunshot, older people may well have had heart attacks but we were young and thought that sort of thing was funny there may be a clue there for Mr Autodromo? I was always worried this was not a good thing for the car but like I say ,we were young.

  • @DeltaSniperZRR

    Awesome car, sounds great. Also nice editing/filming.
    One thing, does this car not look better without that thing behind the drivers seat? I don't know what it is called. But I think without it, it would look so much better (I know, that thing is probably original so you have to keep it that way).

    • @autodromo9302
      @autodromo9302 9 лет назад +9

      +Lt Col Speirs It's a roll hoop for safety. We designed it to be removeable and I agree, the car looks a hell of a lot nicer when the hoop is unbolted. But for racing, it would be foolish to run without it (and illegal in most clubs).

    • @manolisthaeghe9176
      @manolisthaeghe9176 9 лет назад

      +Lt Col Speirs It is a actually a partial rollcage so that in an event of a rollover, the car wont crash down on the driver's head.

  • @racedoc6473
    @racedoc6473 9 лет назад

    Sweet! The backfire on over run can mean that you are running a little rich, or that the exhaust valves are leaking a little. If the plugs look fine, leave it alone!....and keep having fun. Question: how did you get the car registered as "street legal" without a windshield and wipers? I had a great, full race, TR4 years ago and didn't even try to get it registered in CT with just a plexi wind screen and no wipers. Did we meet at one of Rich Taylor's Vintage Rallies a year or so ago?

    My next door neighbor did this with a c1957 Porsche Speedster. It was C1967. I was 17 he was 30 something. a few times I went to Laguna Seca and "pitted:" for him. We drove over Highway 17, a real bob sled run over the Santa Cruz mountains. Today it has K wall and it's maybe 5 feet wider. hwy 17 was more dangerous than racing.

    It backfires in those long sweeping corners due to centrifugal force... This force causes a temporary fuel starvation at such severe corner G's. You either need to pump more fuel faster...OR...adjust your carb float level to be higher...or both perhaps. When the G force subsides and the engine is again able to pull fuel after momentarily being starved for fuel...BANG! OR Conversely and possibly more likely, it can be a momentary loss of ignition in the corner as well...same result. A loose wire being moved till it grounds out...such as the coil wire...or a harness wire feeding ignition. Up to you to feel it out...I can only list the possibles...but there are clues If the engine loses power in a very fast on off switch manner...its ignition....if its slower to manifest...its fuel. If I were onsite I could quickly tell you which...but it sounds like it occurs quickly...so my attention would go toward wires and wire harnesses that can move....difficult to nail at a computer screen. Hope this helps
