1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint Speciale - Jay Leno's Garage
• 1965 Alfa Romeo Giulia...
Jay Leno's Garage
/ jaylenosgarage - Авто/Мото
Driving on the freeway surrounded by all those SUVs is such a trip. It really highlights how small this car is compared to the huge things other people seem to feel the need to drive these days.
Petrolicious and Jay Leno's Garage together. A match made in motoring heaven.
Until Trump deports Petrolicious...
Why would Trump deport Petrolicious? Are they in the country illegally?
People who dislike Trump seem to not understand the difference between illegal and legal immigrants so they tend to make ignorant statements.
Why is it that some people always have to inject their (unwanted) politics into these threads? This channel is and has always about gearheads and their 'vices', not that sort of drivel.
Right, like 'an immigrant might've come here involuntarily', this from a former slave's great-grandson... And GOP spokesman. Having had my flight plans, within the US, as a free, WASP even, citizen, get delayed by hours, because I was travelling with someone moderately high-up in the Democratic Party's hierarchy , while Cheney/Bush were in power in the early 2000's... Nope, can't say that I am 'Ignorant', but YOU ARE! And, ya know, 'Johnson' isn't like, all that uncommon enough to raise a flag, unless... Yeah, so, this poor dude is in the video, better acquire more Leno-Like friends real quick, because, well, Trump isn't SANE like the "W" was... Dial 911, oh, wait, this phone has 11?!
Absolutely beautiful, and love that engine sound. A perfect example of how motoring doesn't have to be about 0-60 times.
I understand why some don'tike this car, alfa's can be an acquired taste, but if you "get it" you really get it. and I think this car is fascinating. beautiful car, beautiful sound, beautiful history.
The real problem with Alpha Romeo is with PARTS. And i'll bet it was always the example of constant problem like that and the same situation is with Fiat, Lancia etc. Just look on the cars from the 2000 - 2007 year like brakes suspension metal carrozzeria body panels engine parts gearbox parts electic parts windows etc.
Aki Ami Masen Centerline Alfa has you covered. They have most parts for any model.
Eric Hakanson lowest drag coefficient of any Alfa ever built
Older Italian cars, not just Alfas, were often beautiful to drive and some, like this one shown here, had looks that could melt just about anyone. But they were often riddled with problems. Especially the electrics were shoddy on them, allmost regardless of make and model. But worst of all were Lancias, I'd say. They would start to rust allmost before they left the showroom, and some models even had mechanical "quirks" that could be potentially lethal...
Personally, I'm not a huge fan of them but I can definitely see the appeal. The styling is just a bit awkward on their cars. I can't quite put my finger on it. The wheel wells perhaps? I dunno. They're by no means offensive to me, just not my cup of tea.
Petrolicious don't just make car videos - they create art. Probably the best car channel on RUclips.
+Aki Ami Masen That escalated quickly.
Without looking just yet; hoping that it is in 4k.
Pet I LOVE them all but the Ferrari 512 BB in the glass garage was my fav.
Peter Giacobbi's Testarossa video is my all time favourite.
Watching him fine tuning the engine with a screwdriver by listening to the sound is craftmanship at its finest.
Especially thanks for this one, Mr Petrolicious.
JB91710 you mean in the living room.. yeah, that inspired me to add this feature to my dream house, only with a Testarossa in it!
Amazing to find this coverage of the Alfa Romeo Giulia SS !!!! I owned a 1966 metallic silver gray , bought it in Sacramento, CA, in 1966 and drove it to San Antonio TX as I entered the Air Force Officer Training School, then up to Denver for specialist schooling at Lowry AFB for 9 months, then off to England with Air Force for 3 years, came back to the USA with it, to San Francisco for 3 years, then to Wash. D.C. where I eventually sold it. A great performing car, throaty Weber growls and such a beautiful design by Bertone! Loved its roadability and aerodynamic beauty! Thanks to my brother Ted in San Francisco for sending me this link by email!!!!
The exhaust note on this car is really awesome. I bet the owner never gets tired of hearing it.
Not exhaust, but twin barrel carburettor. See my other post.
I would never imagine my most favorite car would ever receive this spotlight. I thought it would be forgotten consigned to history books.
Two men responsible for the best video content about classic cars in the whole web - Jay and Afshin!
Kudos to the owner, great car and AMAZING, AMAZING web - Petrolicious!
Petrolicious & Jay Leno's garage in one car....the 2 best webchanels you can watch !! Lr Behnia has good taste...
Petrolicious is an awesome channel.
I only watch Petrolicious on YT, but I'm a big fan of their production technique and the overall quality. True car-nut stuff.
Golly Po sounds like a gay Web site
Tha Q - I wouldn't know, but I'll take your word for it. You seem like an expert.
Great to see the SS being highlighted in your garage. The car is so aerodynamic that even with the windows down there is very little air that gets in the car. The oil pan is a 3 piece affair with a baffle, oil cage at the oil pickup with 4 doors to keep the oil at the pump while cornering. The car has front disc brakes in the front. This and the 5 speed was standard with the car. This and many other SS cars are listed in the Sprint Specaile Register.
Memories. I owned a 1966 from ~1970 to 1983. Drove it cross country and back in 1976 then restored it, then published as Retrospect car in Motor Trend Sept 1978. All steel except the hood on mine was aluminum. That vintage Alfa was pretty simple, reliable and a whole lot of fun on Mulholland Drive and Malibu Canyon. Thanks
The engine was a Giuseppe Busso project. He did the "bialbero" and the "v6 Busso" that alfa used pretty much in every car for 50 years. i think he was heavily involved in the making of the racing v8 they used on the various 33 racing car too.
This is the first time I’ve seen this video ever though it was filmed seven years ago. I have a 2022 Giulia Veloce. Your description of the Giulia in the video as delicate is the way I think of the modern Giulia. I just never came up with the right word to describe it. It is the same with your observation about white cars! Really love your work!
I just found this video myself, too, and I am finding older videos more
Mr. Behnia seems like a cool guy.
altair1983 too bad he’s a racist
Love the sound of these old Alfas winding out!
First time I've ever seen this car. What a beautiful piece of rolling artwork. I love performance, but I'm with Jay, just grab a chair and sit and stare at it. Then go for a drive and listen to that sweet engine breathe through those Webbers. Who care about performance with this car, just drive... And kudos on Petrolicious! I tried to explain my passion for cars to my wife and she didn't get it so I showed her some Petrolicious videos and she still doesn't get it, but now she knows it's not just me. LOL
This is definitely the most beautiful car I have ever seen.
A perfect city car n one for the Canyons n Pacific Coast Hwy too. Bertone is my favorite car designer of all time too.
Mr. Afshin is definitely the Ultimate Car Guy! Thank you, Sir!
I've never seen an Alfa like this before, beautiful machine and I love the sound of the engine. Great automobile!
owner of petrolicious making video with jey leno. marvellous
Gorgeous car! It's reassuring to know that precious pieces of automotive history are being preserved so nicely. I very much prefer keeping things stock and original - to an extent.
SUGGESTION FOR THESE VIDEOS: Part of enjoying cars, specifically old cars, is hearing them crank and start. It'd be awesome if you guys would start including a shot of the car starting up, even if the cold engine is grouchy or whatever. The ride-along shots are awesome, and including the motor starting would give us a bit more of the overall experience with driving the car. Anyone who's fired up a 427 Cobra Jet or the like knows that half of the experience is the ROAR of starting the thing. Food for thought!
this video makes this alfisti so happy also this man and his website petrolicious are amazing
I always liked the engine sound of the Alfa Romeo from the 60's and 70's, that twin cam engines fed with Weber carburators. Some Alfas in my country are used for vintage racing with the exhaust pipe coming out under the driver's door. Great engine sound. Nice and beautiful Alfa!
ive been waiting for a alfa sprint special.making myself a cappuchino and then ill watch.yippe
Medicjas i think we were on the same Middle-class Suburbanite 101 course.
Don't forget your biscotti.
Your italian mama won't like it!
Ive watched this about 10 times. One of my favorite Leno's. I also am in love with this car ... I want a red one. Jay needs to be alone with that car!
18 min video felt like it was just 2 mins..
when i watch your show i dont realise how fast time passes...
jay leno is still the king.
Yes he really enjoyed this one.
So beautiful, and that noise under acceleration!
Anthony Pagano , , it is sound , , not noise , ,
OMG this is one of the guys that founded Petrolicious? What a man and seems like a great guy to talk cars with. If you guys have been leaving under a youtube rock, check petrolicious out it is a fantastic site.
As for this video, I love the 60s Alfa's but I have to disagree with Jay, the Zagato bodied Alfas were the best.
At last ! My prayers have been answered or you really reed comments! WE NEED MORE ALFAS!
Alfas are pure passion... and no logic at all. I owned an Alfa some years ago, it drove like heaven... but... man! lot of care and lot of little troubles here and there... I sold it 10 years ago... for a more economic car. Still I miss it every single time I sit into my new car. I'll probably buy an Alfa again next time... as a caprice, you know. Totally worth the little pains it gives you now and then... An Alfa is like your little, gorgeous chick: you have to constantly look after her... but what a pleasure you get back from her!
I had the opportunity to drive a friend's 1300 Giulietta Sprint Speciale version from Livorno to Munich and back with my best friend and my girlfriend in 1971 or so. My girlfriend had to sit/lie in the little space in the back, she wasn't a baby monkey. I remember passing all the BMW 2002s in Germany on the autobahn, it was so fast.
What a great automobile. And man, V8's have just a great sound, but look, how amazing sounds this small engine. 120 horse power with just 1.6 liter in 1965 really is something amazing.
I like the sound of this little car, when accelerating
Afshin not only makes amazing videos of automotive storytelling, but he is also an incredibly nice guy is grateful for his website/channel's fans. Great to see two of my favorite channels collide.
My family has had quite a few of these over the years, I have driven them a lot and man I love these cars. They are not the funnest to drive but, they are very pretty. Alfa is my favorite manufacturer for sure.
My two favourite car shows together, beautiful cars, beautiful shows, and real car guys!
What an exceptionnal piece of automotive art. Thanks Mr Leno. I wish i could like yours videos twice, or even ten times, because one doesn't feel enough.
And congratulations to the owner Mr Behnia. I'm a big fan of your work on Petrolicious. It's nice to put a face on one of my favourite channel.
"So you really got into the Italian thing?" - LOL! :)
Literally!!!😂
2 of my fave classic car channels combined!
This is an absolute beauty...engine sounds amazing and the looks...wow.
I was waiting for Jay to endorse Petrolicious, I knew he was a fan.
This is a real car with superb style and beauty.
I love the mash up of my two favorite car and motorcycle sites.
What a great guest!
Great show, great car. An engaging guest makes it more watchable.
Absolutely lovely car. Nice that it has an appreciative family to live with, too.
That's a nice shot watching it go down the freeway with all the modern cars there for contrast.
OMG, what gorgeous lines!
I think I'm gonna sit down. Franco Scaglione is a genius designer. Just lovely.
Thx for all the efforts that went into filming this piece.
I love Jay Leno's Garage but Petrolicious, I ADORE
Whadda beautiful car. The old Alfa's designs were top drawer.
It is like a Ferrari 250gt lusso in the front, 300 gullwing in the side and a unique back. The most beautiful car that passed through this channel
A Fabulous car, another vehicle that Leonardo or Rafael might have designed.
As a kid, growing up .in Portugal, I used to see quite a few.
And some lucky owners raced them. Interesting, most of them were white vehicles.
Thank you for this fabulous Video and congratulations to the pleasant and generous owner.
Note: The Zagato was also an object of Art.
And the 4 doors Giulia Super was a fantastic car.
My older brother owned one. If driven in an agressive manner the gas mileage would suffer a little.
Well, not mileage, in most countries resort to Kms.
The metric system, based on multiples of Ten, is highly rational and easy to master.
1.000 Thanks
I've been subbed to Petrolicious 3 or 4 years. Watched every video. When you watch their videos it feels as if you're there driving.
This car is like three or four feet off the ground. Neat looking little sports car. Love this show and first saw it about four years ago while on vacation in Carlsbad, California and watch it when it comes on MSNNBC channel here in the U.S.
really like the sound of this machine!
I can't believe more people haven't mentioned this. It's probably one of the sexiest exhaust notes I've heard, and from a 4 cylinder!
@@zaraak323i Not the exhaust note. The typical throaty note of twin cams Alfa engines come from the twin barrel carburettors. In fact, when Alfa Romeo put fuel injection in them in the 90's, the classic Alfa sound disappeared.
One of my favorite cars. Beautiful seiko chronograph as well
Mr. Leno, the lawn chair, spot on.
Needless to repeat what Leno had said about the beauty of this car, Franco Scaglione is another reason I admire this car, I am a fan of the legendary designer.
LOVE Petrolicious... Never miss an episode... every Tuesday... Then again never miss an episode of Jay Leno :)
Good Job, Jay and Afshin. Your channels are the best car content on You Tube!
Match made in heaven. Petrolicious is an amazing channel and the quality of videos are out of this world. Watch Jay on Monday and watch Petrolicious on Tuesday - no better way to start the week!
The more I look at the car the more I appreciate it! Beautiful car!
Super opportunity to be riding shotgun with Afshin .. originator of my favorite car review show,Petrolicious . It's the one car review that involves ZERO ego, extreme politeness, yet still covering car's from priceless-available to the every man . Filmed in high grade sound and visual, including stories of origin, often family ties stemming back generations.. so here in one car,you see the two premier auto presenter's .. Mr.J&Mr.A. What a treat !
Love the lines. Can see the new Alfa's in this auto's lines. How gorgeous.
ilove this guy>>>iwish i could meet him some day ...he is very polite and down to earth he should be called jay legend
Jay, love your site, and petrolicius too. Thanks for showing all these cars, I watch you every Monday night here in Spain. Thanks again.
It has a really unique sounding engine, with a beauty all its own. Lovely car and charming owner. Thank you for sharing.
Love the Petrolicious show, i watch it every week.
Jay really fills out the interior of that car.
That Webber sound!
Just when I thought I saw them all here's another terrific car.
...Jay at his best, giving technical and historical insight- just a great car video...
I have always loved old Alfas but this one is incredible!
One of the best shows ever!
Great car! Great owner! Alfa Romeo is so overlooked as a brand. Thanks Jay!
I feel like Jay has gotten better over the years doing this show on not interrupting the guests and dismissing everything they say. It makes it much easier to watch.
wow one of the most beautiful cars in my opinion, great episode as usual, keep them coming Jay
Petrolicious. One of my favorite places to visit on the internet. Great videos.
this is one of the prettiest sports cars ever
Petrolicious redefined how car videos/biographies should be made. Always beautifully filmed, truly wonderful content and I love hearing stories about cars that could be an interesting little runabout, to a historically significant piece of automotive art. By far my favourite website/RUclips channel. I've got a very high mileage, never rebuilt, completely original German roadster that has served as a very reliable workhorse you may be interested to hear about Afshin! One of the first one's built too! ☺️
This model is indeed a zwitter between the 50's (Giulietta Series) and the 60's (Giulia Engine), because this model was designed from Franco Scaglione for 1959 as a 1300 version (Giulietta Motor with about 95 SAE HP) and the project engineer for the Giulietta was Rudolf Hruska an austrian engineer that worked also as an assistant to Ferdinand Porsche for the industrialization of the VW Beetle Project in 1951 worked for Alfa and again in 1967 he industrialized the "Alfasud Project" that was like the Volkswagen the creation of a new factory complex in the South of Italy plus a new Car Concept that was the first hatchback from Alfa Romeo. (produced 1972 to 1984)
What a beautiful car, I have a long standing love for Alfa Romeo.
Alfas in white never looked good but this one does. And it looks amazing
like the car it grows on you ,yes can't wait for summer to sit back and look and reflect on one of my cars thanks Jay
Thank you Jay!!!!
How can so many beautiful designs come from one country.
John Dee ... it really IS the thing Italians are good at. Centuries of great art and design tradition. They suck at many other things like stable governments, warfare, letting their emotions get the better of them... but they sure can design stuff. ... Oh! And let's not forget the food!
Kinda interesting how Jay didn't seem to have much to say about the driving experience behind the wheel, maybe he was a bit underwhelmed ? I love the car, maybe not in white, but still a stunner, and I'm a huuuuge Petrolicious fan !
What a beautiful car
Love Petrolicious! It's got to be one of the best things on RUclips especially the Dino guy who's been on a few times. Jay your knowledge of cars astounds me continuously. Thank you both for all you do. Does the car tend to pull right it's beautiful.
The rake of the wind screen is my favorite part. Of quite a few parts.
WOW! What an attractive automobile!
Beautiful Car, the Petrolicious site is amazing as well.
What a *beautiful* car!! Just flat-out gorgeous!!
"My wife is Italian. Like... Real Italian" I like this man.
thankyou for making a history art museum
what a beautiful car
This production was so Lenolicious
A really superb, sexy design, elegant engineering, that exhaust note .... what fine, unique sports car. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.
