Lemme tell you about one of my experiences with this dude:
One day, I was in grade 6 and had a test in French class. I was so caught up in other work that I forgot to study and was so worried I'd fail. As I sat down in class, my teacher told us the test was postponed, because he found this really cool web series he wanted to show us.
That web series was Animator VS. Animation.
We got to watch Animator VS Animation I - IV as well as Animation VS. Minecraft. My friends and I laughed all the way and were impressed at his talent and effort.

It has been 7 years now, the Animation vs Minecraft series has 3 seasons and an upcoming 4th, there is now an Animator vs Animation 5 along with an upcoming 6th episode, the characters have fought against arcade games, math, pokemon, and other franchises. We have come so far and should never give up.

Dude, I didn't realize that you've been that OG animator all along! I remember watching your stuff all over the internet, but Newgrounds was the hub back then, I'm 35. As a scrub kid back in the day, we didn't know who was doing what. It was an explosion of content, the beginning of creators making use of the internet. Happy to hear you got things sorted out for yourself. Thankful for Steve and the others who came in at critical times to guide you. I'm glad I've come full circle now on your story, sorry it took me till 2022 to catch up. Now you're at 19m subs here on YT! Incredible dude!

@@Macaroni-Man That's because Steve was the first and only one for a while, and then Alex came in as a way for the game to appeal to female players as well. It's kinda similar to how in Persona 3, we only had one protagonist for a while, and that's the male protagonist who's most promptly featured, but then Persona 3 Portable introduced a female protagonist to play as and had gained a massive fanbase and would eventually get promptly featured too.

minecraft never endorsed the name "steve" originally. another game/animation (i think) made a character that looked like that character in minecraft, and his name was actually steve, so the mc community flocked to "steve" being his name instead of "mr. minecraft" or whatever else.

Knowing that Alan was only 12- 13 when he made the first ava gives me inspiration for my own stick figure animations. Admittedly, they are mostly about stick figures that fought each other randomly.

I can imagine days, weeks even months of thought and work put into these, and can't stand the fact that someone steals the name for thousands of free clicks and subs, and do an extremely lousy job after that dishonoring the original on top of everything.
(Most of the frauds openly admitted that they worked 1-2 days tops, for their entire video)
On the other hand I have nothing against people getting inspired by this, not stealing it's name, and worked really hard on their own animations. (Marker vs Maker for example, clearly inspired by this, but made his own series and worked really hard as wel)
