Susan Egan came to my college and talked to us. She also critiqued three students. It was so cool and she talked about Hercules and her time on Broadway. 🙂
+Hannah Mims They should totally do what they did with The Lion King and add the songs written for the Broadway show and put it in a new polished version of the movie!! That'd be amazing ((:
I was in a production of “Beauty and the Beast” last summer as Maurice, and during this scene, Belle and I did a little dance towards the end of the song, which just made it feel all the more special. I felt like my heart melted a little every time we did that dance, whether it was in rehearsal or during a performance. I know this may sound a little biased, but I think if any song in this show is underrated, it’s this one. The music and lyrics are heart-meltingly pure and beautiful and perfectly shows just how much Maurice and Belle love each other.
my school just performed this, i was cast as the enchantress, and it was amazing. i was crying when it ended, last week, i didn't want it to end, it was an amazing musical! this is the soundtrack we used and i still listen to it as if i'm still in the musical, i miss doing it so much, great memories.
The man who played Maurice in my community theatre's production of this musical kept saying he couldn't sing...but he killed it. Everyone was cheering him on from backstage during this scene.
I remember being shocked that Tom Bosley was in this, and had such a good singing voice...then I remembered he'd been in the original cast of Fiorello. This song was what made me fall in love with the stage musical score. Such a sweet expression of father-daughter love!
I was SO disappointed when this wasn't in the new movie, cause they led up to it, and then they didn't use the song! This is my favorite beauty and the beast song, because it's such a beautiful father daughter song, and would have really added to the movie.
They kind of trolled us with this in the live action movie didn't they? They had Bell and Maurice say the openning dialogue, so someone who saw the stage version would start expecting the song, but nope.
Took me way too long to realize that this intro has the exact same melody as the intro to If I Can't Love Her. I feel like that's supposed to mean something, but I don't know what.
I just went to go see this show in Chicago last weekend! It was incredible! ... but... for some reason they cut this song from the show. I was kinda sad, because I love this song and moment between Belle and her father, and I was really excited to see it on stage. :\
Well done I say! I feel this song seems to somehow convey the sort of lighthearted, perhaps slightly troubled but muddling through feel of Belle and her Father's family which seems quite accurate to how I think they are meant to be. To my thinking. It's pretty impressive.
I am honored to be performing (Maurice) role: February 2,3,4,910,11,2018 in Bay Ridge/Boro Park Brooklyn, NY. Jeff Samaha/Ridge Chorale Productions. www.brownpapertickets.com for ticket info. Have we got a "Belle" for you. I'm modeling my performance on Tom Bosely's great "Maurice". Hope you can come. This will be a full 19 piece orchestra & chorus production with amazing cast and crew. Worth a trip from anywhere!
I’m Maurice in a production running 3/22….. this is such a great song. Tom Bodley is good- but listen to the performance done by the English. It seems better…..
Belle: And I made you a scarf for the fair tomorrow. Me: Huh, scarf. That's a funny way to pronounce the phrase Plot Device. And yes I know that line from Belle isn't in the song.
What if the uncle IS the beast? "No family could be saner, except one uncle who, well maybe let that pass........." Implying that that uncle was perhaps better off than them in some way(s), and perhaps they would rather let that pass because he wasn't very well liked, and after he shut himself off from the world they were perhaps told he'd died and so, for the above reasons, didn't want to bring him up?

The actress singing belle, sounds just like meg from hercules!!
+AliceCobert That's because it's her! Her name is Susan Egan :)
+Mavy Wavy I did not know that, woah😂👌🏻 I thought it sounded very familiar haha
Mavy Wavy Wow, I didn't know Susan Egan played Belle once. Damn, Susan is one of the best broadway girls out there, probably
Susan Egan came to my college and talked to us. She also critiqued three students. It was so cool and she talked about Hercules and her time on Broadway. 🙂
She follows me on Twitter!
This song deserved to be in the animated movie...
definitely

They did it with ''Human Again''.
The relationship between a parent and his offspring is definitely under-explored in the Disney Universe.
Same sentiments as Happy/Sad from The Addams Family. THAT one gets me.

Her high note at the end though. God, I love Susan Egan!
me too
She performed at my school.
Wait so this is meg doing belle????
@@blackswan4486 yep it's Meg from Hercules and Rose Quartz from Steven Universe
But sometimes they switch parts at the end
1:42 - 1:49 is gold. Something about the way everything falls into place. Beautiful.
That's a sweet song to a Father to his daughter.
Yes it is
+Mariah Raichert Yep.
Opinion time! I kinda want this to be my song for the father daughter dance at my wedding. good choice?
+Olivia Brown GO FOR IT!!!
OlivethePugs Heck yeah!
OlivethePugs yeah definetly
That’s like a theatre nerd’s dream!! Yes do it! I would cry

A Goth Named Wednessday I would have also loved for home to be in it. Completely agree with you.
This song is so great

Steven Higgins The opening song is said in any version. It's not a troll
BUT WITH HOME.
They played the opening to Home and then MOVED TO A DIFFERENT SONG I WAS SO SAD.
Steven Higgins The dialogue is in the animated movie too...
@@markjuarez6469 Yeah, but this sing hadn't been written then.
THEY ARE THE COMMON HEARD,AND YOU CAN TAKE MY WORD! SO SWEET!
you are unique, creme de la creme !
So sweet!
Hey Richie, ain't that your old man? Whoah-ho!

2:23 - such a beautiful lyric.
Rose Quartz and Mr. Cunningham singing together.

I played Maurice in our high schools play and had to sing this song
Good ol times
Blake Davis nice I got Maurice this year
opening night!
more like got to
I love this song
SHE'S GOOOONNNNNNNEEE
I love Tom Bosley and Susan Egan.
Why did they leave this out of the movie!????
This was an original song from the Broadway version (as far as I know written FOR the musical)
His voice kills me

ATTENTION EVERYONE! MTI just changed their script, and now this number is optional.
Papa, do you think I'm odd?
Odd? Where did you get an idea like that from?
THE WHOLE TOWN JUST SANG A WHOLE SONG ABOUT IT😖😖😖
Galavant ripped this off!
Well Alan did do the music for both
Galavant and beauty and the beast are composed by the same person
I must know that one uncle's story
What if the uncle IS the beast? "No family could be saner, except one uncle who, well maybe let that pass........." So Belle and the beast would be related, gross!
