exactly your very correct. I think nothing is perfect. I also think that this cast was amazing. I got to see it at the paramount. It was a real amazment
There's a part in Love Is An Open Door where Anna is slung over Hans' shoulder and is _still singing_ despite her stomach being pressed in by Hans' shoulder and the fact that she's near upside down! Truly a skilled cast.
i’m so confused why is everyone hating, just because the cast doesn’t look like animated flawless princesses doesn’t take away the fact that the vocals are absolutely breathtaking and that the acting and costumes are on point, like stfu
Everyone’s saying that they don’t get why people are hating while I’m scrolling through the comments looking for a hate comment but all I see are the nice comments 😂
No matter what other people say, the people in this cast were chosen for a reason. Their talent, performance, and passion put them in their positions. This performance was great!
I like her in this song, but it's love is an open door where it really starts to bother me, the choreo and acting make her seem older/ creepier and it ruins it for me. Other than that I don't mind her playing Anna
Broadway has had performers of all ages playing characters of all ages for DECADES. This is not a new phenomenon!! Mean Girls has multiple 30 year olds playing teenagers, same with the majority of shows with teenage characters. Why are we choosing to pick this specific show apart? In the theater, you cannot tell the age of a performer. They are INCREDIBLY TALENTED. Celebrate them as we celebrate every other hard-working performer!!
They are talented and nobody can deny that, but the difference with other actors portraying younger characters is they play their roles well, but the Anna in this doesn’t really do that.
Yes I agree with you, but this is a show made for kid. Mean Girls is not made for kids at all. And the Mean Girls actors do play teenagers really well. This casting is weird but at least the all have really good voices.
ThatOneTheatreKid Even if this was particularly made to target the youth demographic, it doesn’t matter how the actresses look up close. Nobody in the audience, no matter how close, will be able to see the specific details of their faces. I’ve seen several shows that when I’ve gone around to the back for autographs, the ages have genuinely shocked me
I personally think it's refreshing that they cast two women over 35. Why are the general public always obsessed with the age of female actors. They are both very talented. That is all that matters. I'd rather see an older actor get a break personally.
Perhaps they are the best they could get to play the Frozen characters, very good actors, but I have to agree the lead characters look a bit older than ones they’re portraying, though that’s common practice in theater roles.
@@aidenoliver1681 That's so wrong. Corsets restrict your breathing which is very important when belting. Sure it can push your range a lil bit higher but proper training is required
A properly fitted corset doesn’t limit the ability of a trained professional. I’ve worn them in operas. We don’t tight lace. The corsets are simply to help the clothes lay correctly. I loved how they looked and had no problems doing extremely difficult vocals.
Patti doesn't have a bad voice. But I'm not liking the color palette in terms of sets and lighting. This is supposed to be a happy moment in the show but with a nervous Elsa. The atmosphere isn't bright enough
Andrea P I understand since Frozen is supposed to be dark in pieces. But most audiences coming into the theatre will be prepared for the happy ending and it's just not showing. So this decreases how anxious I was for the show.
I enjoyed Elsa's belts a lot. However im not quite sure if I like this adaptation of Anna. The costumes are gorgeous though. Maybe the changes will grow on me, who knows lol.
I think the issue is that the character itself is so cartoony. Anna's first live action appearance was on the show Once Upon A Time and I didn't like her or Elsa's portrayal there either.
These actresses are definitely talented and have amazing voices, but I just don’t see them as Anna and Elsa. I just picture then being much younger and these ladies look so old in the role
Onstage (not zoomed in with a professional camera) their age isn’t so obvious. These women also have the stamina to do eight shows a week. They both give such genuine performances.
Can you imagine performing the same show 8 times per week and trying to maintain the same level of performance in each. I'd go crazy and head for Hollywood and the taped shows and films.
I love the costumes and Anna's facial expressions, but I'm not a fan of her voice for this role. It isn't delicate enough for the high notes. It seems very heavy to me. Elsa's voice is very strong, but I kinda like it.
Agreed! Anna should have mixed voice for a lot of her songs. Elsa is the belty role. That way there's a contrast between voices and everyone doesn't sound exactly the same lol.
The actresses should just mime (lip sync) and let someone else sing behind curtain. I actually love the Malay voices for Elsa and Anna. You should look it up on the tube, just type "Let it go Malay" and "For the first time in forever Malay" and don't forget to look up for "Love is an open door Malay", "Ring in the season Malay" (including the reprise) and "When we're together Malay". They're both are really wonderful and gorgeous!
Bruce Coleman this movie is celebrated globally, it’s natural people are going to be upset when such iconic characters are misrepresented- it’s not like people are saying they’re untalented, just that they’re not really the best fit
Well first of all most people are disappointed at the cast esp Anna bcs her KEY characters are lost And you see, the thing is we AREN'T broadway singers or ANY type of singers why'd you expect them to be able to belt out notes at early morning? They're singers and we're here to judge it's that simple 💁
Paige Johannesen I haven’t seen any comments complaining about their voices. Personally, I thought the singing was beautiful. The only thing is, Elsa and Anna’s personality felt lost through the performance. The casting was strange and that’s a major complaint from most
Stop complaining about the age!!!! Patti has experience & stamina. Playing a lead character that is vocally & emotionally demanding 8 shows a week as well as handling a show with so much media expectation and attention needs someone with a level of maturity. She is brilliant.
She’s not good for the role, maybe for a different role, but not this one. A 20 something should be playing it and quite frankly they would be better than this belting crap
2022... almost 9 years since frozen came out... and I still get caught by the feelings of this song, both this and the movie version... just woah, the way that Anna's actress passes to us how she's happy because she is finally getting something she really wanted and HOW BIG this is to her this song makes so even me, in this side of the screen, still can feel her happiness!! It's just... INCREDIBLE
I love how they made Anna's desire for romance something like a shallow, sexually-charged sort of love. She later comes to realize that love isn't just finding a gorgeous man that makes you stuff chocolate in your face- it's much, much more.
@Sahar Isobel it would be since Disney cartoon is set in Northern europe. It is pretty nice to see double standards when white people play black role but the opposite is perfectly ok. Poor you
This is just so underwhelming. :( Their voices are great, but they don't go well with the song, it just sounds awkward. I guess I just expected much more.
Bojan Tomic don't forget that this is a TV performance with just an excerpt. These sorts of performances are often different to what's on stage and the performances generally aren't as strong as when they're totally in character
Tbh I find both of them a bit overwhelming. Take the caliber of Idina and Kristen in Wicked, for example... These two just don't have the same skill or power.
I sang this song literally with the costume and the wig ang with action as well. I legit found it harder than let it go. At least with let it go, there are areas you can grasp for air plus as Elsa you're gracious and at most just standing. Also the song builds up. This one requires energy from beginning to end. This song required a lot of movement too and while under a heavy dress. Maybe if you were just singing it it's fine but in combination with character portrayal - I was out of breathe already prior to the chorus. From chest tone to head tone real quick 💔😭😂
I mean the original version of the song I'd harder than let it go it always was I just think that the woman wasn't singing in her mixed voice like Anna clearly was it sounds so nasally too Elsas singer was amazing tho
I remember Idina doing an interview where she said that she was told she's a bit older to play Elsa in the broadway version...but honestly with the make up and costuming these girls dont look decades younger than Idina, so im pulling for her to do a short run!!!!!
Joyful Spirit yeah 15 years ago and it changed her voice especially because she played the role for so long. If you watch videos of her singing Let it Go live, she rarely hits all the notes, there’s no way she could do it well 8 times a week unless they took it down some keys or pre-recorded all of her songs
Miss Alanna well the key for let it go in the musical is not in the movie’s key and it is the one that Idina now sings the song in. And in that key Idina never misses the high note
RodPadness idk I just don’t think this role would be healthy for her and if they DO hire her, it would be about a big name for money out of desperation rather than talent, and that’s when I would understand a little
My issue is that they made both of them belters. The movie worked so well because their contrasting voices matched their contrasting personalities. The broadway cast album I feel like I could be listening to either of them, whereas listening to the movie soundtrack it’s easy to tell which ones which because Idina and Kristen both have unique, identifiable voices.
That's really ironic considering they purposefully made Anna use her head voice while singing - It's extremely obvious and makes it obvious who was singing. Although I can see where you're coming from - It's just easier to notice that difference while in a recording room. Much more different when you're on a stage where you have to make your voice so loud so the mic would catch it while at the same time keep moving.
What about the stage fright and flatulence before you go on for the first time? Make sure you bring a fresh change of boxers and panties for opening night, and don't eat Mexican or Italian food for lunch.
You know what doesn't help the whole, the girls are way too old thing, the two maids calling Anna "m'am" in the beginning. Should definitely be "miss". Also Anna shouldn't be belting, Elsa is the belter. And she certainly shouldn't be belting if she can't stay on pitch on the high notes. I like Patti on some of the other songs but not this one.
Totally agree. I love Caissie as Elsa, but I honestly think she would've been just as good as Anna since she has a great mixed voice, which I think is what Anna needs. I don't like that Patti belts everything. It's not very Anna-ish. Elsa is the belter, I agree, and I love it when their voices are unique and different from one another. I'm just not feeling it.
Caisse and Patti are wonderful, talented actresses, but they just don't feel right in their roles. Elsa and Anna are supposed to be around 21 and 18, yet both actresses are in their late 30s. I'm not saying they're old by any means but they definitely look their age.
cestjeni because most 18-20 year old musical theatre people are NOT vocally trained or ready for roles and music like that. Sorry but I'd rather listen to amazing performers who look a little older than listen to young looking performers who just aren't vocally ready. Musical theatre takes a lot of patience and training. Also this is an adaptation, not the original. Really, they can be whatever age the director wants them to be. The story can still work whether they're young adults or in their 30s. Sure Anna is supposed to be naive but she's had 0 interaction from her sister or anyone outside the castle so realistically she could still be childish and naive at an older age.
Manuel Orozco okay well you go ahead and go watch a musical where someone looks the age but can't hit the notes. Like I said a very very very small portion of people in the age group are vocally ready and if they are they're probably already cast in other things. I don't mind that they look s little older because the story still works if they're older. Sorry you can't wrap your head around the idea that stories can be tweaked a little
Tanya Fine well at least I don't have an issue that Kristin Chenoweth won her Tony for playing Sally in the 1999 Bway production of You're A Good Man Charlie Brown
Ana doesn't make a convincing teenager/young adult. I think they could've done with casting two younger actresses, as talented as they are it would feel more authentic if they were closer to the intended age and less like two people just playing parts. I Also don't think it was clever changing the lyrics, even though it's subtle it feels like a bad move with one of the most celebrated known soundtracks of all time it's just so unnecessary.
This was Disney broadway, so most likely these are the best actors that fits the roles, and they made it clear that this production’s intended audience were adults, it’s not a children’s play.
There acting is stunning, I LOVED THE CAST And how they sing makes me actually believe the character just jumped out of a screen in to Broadway, everything just fits so perfectly with the caracter traits And god there singing is amazing

The casting is low-key weird... Except for Kristoph.
I feel the same way but I think it's because we're so used to the perfect-looking wide-eyed cartoons so it's weird seeing them stylized differently and realistically.
Idk but Anna's accent is kind of bothering me, it's like she's reading a story book to a bunch of kids, like there's too much emphasis on each and every word. I get words have to be clear, but it's kind of Too Clear. I've just never heard anyone sing like this in other musicals. nNnNg
Well because their main audience are children and in classical music, we have to emphasize the words and articulate the vowels and consonants correctly and clearly for the audience to understand the lyrics. And especially since Anna's part is a little it fast, if she sang it, well like pop, then you would not understand anything.
3:34 that was so cool how Anna was reaching toward Elsa, longing to see her sister, but then “ooh the gates are open!!” I thought that really was in tune with Anna as a character. I also love how they updated the costumes and added to them, yet kept them familiar.
It's just my opinion I've heard her in other things and she has a beautiful voice. I just wasn't feeling it and it doesn't seem like she was either that day.
PullipKisses absolutely agreed. I saw it on broadway last week and I was like “meh”. It doesn’t sparkle, it doesn’t resonates. And it’s somewhat dark (illumination wise), I don’t know if on purpose. Wasn’t worth it $175.
I'm relieved I'm not the only one who thinks they look a bit too old. I mean they sound good, but their looks kind of break the immersion. Musicals like Heathers and Be More Chill and Dear Evan Hansen are about young people too, and they managed to find people that just match the looks of the age and the role, why couldn't that be done for this production? No hard feelings though, it really just made me wonder.
blueshrimp i wish they would’ve I’m a die hard Jonathan groff fan but maybe they thought it would be too predictable or maybe they wanted to create their own version of the movie? whatever it is, it’s probably the same reason they didn’t cast Idina as Elsa
MariannaBea Idk a lot of us expected a lighter, less belty, “disney princess-y” voice reminiscent of the original movie, or Princess Jasmine or Belle or any other disney princess you can think of in contrast to Elsa’s belty voice
Why is everyone hating on these amazing talented girls ?! Ok first of all, If you didn’t notice, no one looks like the Disney princesses because it’s a fcking animated movie so don’t say they should’ve found someone who looks more like them, second it’s hard finding younger actresses and singers who could pull all of this off and third OF COURSE their voices sound different because they are different people, they are not Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell so stop saying their voices don’t fit or are to deep or whatever •__• This was fantastic and they did an amazing job It’s a Broadway show and not a live action version of the movie...
It's fantastic on stage and the actresses are superb. Most of the people commenting on the ages of the actresses seem to know nothing about D. Broadway musicals and they're definitely not in touch with the Broadway world. No Disney Broadway production has ever had a 16 year older in the main role: Belle, Ariel, Jasmine, they were all portrayed by women in their 30s.
She’s 48 years old. Don’t get me wrong, she still has the pipes and looks great, but people are already complaining about Caissie and Patti “feeling” too old: Idina is ten years older. Also, I’m pretty sure she would literally hate to do this.
The voice is brilliant.... But i think they have no resemblance to ana and elsa...... They are still young so it would be better if the leads are younger... More like in their 19-20's
kookiee love can you imagine if some punk came up to you when you’re 37 and told you to retire? pht, people can barely recognize age the other half of the time all teens are being played by significantly older people etc bc they are at their prime for objectifying, do you know how difficult it is to make it like they did on broadway? Usually harder than for a 19-20 year old without fully developed voices
That’s the single worst idea one could come up to, if I have to be honest. A Broadway audience can’t tell the age of an actor during the show. What they can tell is if you put a college-aged kid to carry on their shoulder a high-budget production that requires them to consistently hit notes that have been modelled on the voice of a hyper-experienced Broadway actress, and that could easily injure them if performed with a less-than-perfect technique.
- Belen - I’m sorry but do you no how hard it is to belt “I” and “er” I don’t think you do, so I’ll let you know something, she is changing her vowels so that the singing doesn’t come out pinched and pitchy.
@@sabrinafeliciano5702 I know... I meant to establish a difference between a disney movie and a broadway show. There is a need for excessive pronunciation in musical theater due to the position of microphones, distance between the cast and the public, and many other factors that could interfere with the sound and understanding of words. ☺
The messy wig was on top of the coronation one! All she had to do was whip the messy one off behind the partition and fix her bangs and voila! Perfect hair :)
I WOULD LOVE TO SEE HER PLAYING THIS!!!! her voice is so much younger and more light and pure I guess. This was way too sophisticated for me so that would be outstanding to see
I feel like they don't have the bright happiness and energy this song demands, but this is the first performance I've watched so I can't make concrete judgements just yet.
Until I read the comments and acknowledged that people are sending hate at the cast, I was absolutely taken by their performance. This is so good, so damn good that my eyes are tearing up.
Disney is planning on establishing their own streaming service, at which point I'm sure they'll release recordings of many of their musicals to go alongside the massive library of Star Wars and Marvel content.
I'm so disappointed. I'm glad these women had their dreams come true, but they just aren't Elsa and Anna by any means. There's no chemistry, they're a little old to play an 18 & 21 year old... And whoever plays Anna overpronounces everything... Idk it just doesn't feel "Disney." Definitely let down :(
I'm an actress and in theatre they want you to pronounce every word like an English teacher. So over pronouncing words is just something her director probably told her. Not saying this to be rude btw
I can tell these negative comments aren’t from ppl who don’t usually “Stan” broadway musicals 😂 Y’all are mentioning lyrics changes, asking where the microphones are, that Patti and Caissie “don’t fit the roles” 😂 a LOT goes to have a bway show running and it has to meet a lot of requirements and notes form composers, directors, executives, etc
While both of these ladies are super talented, I just don't feel Anna and Elsa when I see them and when they perform. I guess that's part of the struggle with creating a live show from a animated film.
Lauren Muncie I completely agree. It's honestly turned me off for this adaption and it makes me sad, because theres such beautiful and wonderful potential!! What make it worse with casting, imho, is that despite its many /many/ flaws, OUAT had a better Live Action Anna and Elsa than this.
Lauren Muncie I hate to be THAT audience member, but I really think it’s because they’re too old for these roles. They’re voices are just too mature, I had the same problem with the movie
I'm so happy you said that because that's exactly what I was thinking! Anna and Elsa are supposed to be 21 and 18 I think. They're supposed to be so young that they're afraid to rule (in Elsa's case) or just want to have fun (in Anna's case). You don't get that from 37 year old actresses
Lauren Muncie ok no I agree. I think (especially Patti) they r both too old for these roles?? Like Anna is 18 and Else is 21 and the woman playing Anna is in her 30’s and she LOOKS like she’s in her 30’s and irk I really don’t like her in this role at all :/

This is my first time watching, i have watch Frozen movie, but to see this musical, i teared a bit because of how good this is. Great, now watching Broadway show live is on my to-do-list before i die.
Why can’t we just appreciate the performance and the people who performed? It’s totally amazing! In fact, they are all talented and blessed with a good voice. 💕
Zoe D Broadway always changes lyrics from its original version to adapt to a HUMAN performance. It’s cause not every song in an ANIMATED movie can be imitated perfectly. See Anastasia and Beauty and the Beast - they added some songs + changed up some songs just to add more to the musical. It’s common for it to happen.
nalalyon she still does sing about the “ballroom with no balls”. She now doesn’t talk about the eight thousand salad plates and also the line about “finally they’re opening up the gates” lol. They should’ve done it like Frozen live at the Hyperion at the plates part. They carry a huge stack of fake “plates” around when she sings that same line about the plates. It can be done. They also should’ve had the ensemble sing in the background when she sings “I’m getting what I’m dreaming of!” Even tho it wasn’t like that in the movie it makes it sound so much more epic.
im gonna admit, seeing this song being preformed and taped, i see why people are upset about the personality and age. i saw this on orchestra center on broadway a few months ago and IT WAS AMAZING! i see why people are mad about the character but when you see the whole thing together, you can tell how talented they are and it was my favorite broadway show ive seen
Regardless of age they are really good performers. If you don't know their age (to omit bias comment) you can't say anything wrong about this production number. Vocal wise, how they carefully acted their part, customs and how they change the settings were superb. Hands down to you guys!
Keep in mind that a staged show isn’t meant to be for film, and in row L you can’t tell the persons age/hence why it looks like the actors are over acting. It’s for stage not screen.
I initially hated that they changed "Who knew we owned eight thousand salad plates" to "And there's two nice ladies helping me get dressed" But now, seeing that it was not only necessary but more effective in the scene they were trying to build on stage, I appreciate it.
The Someawesome I just think the language is used. Shes a princess wearing period clothes. She PROBABLY is very used to maids helping her dress. It's nothing unusual, why is she calling attention to it? If they want to change the line, great, fine, but change it to something that adds... more emphasis to the scene.
homeiswonderland Yeah I agree, but at the same time, it's not rare that a song just describes what's happening. It's weird to mention the eight thousand salad plates when we don't even see it. The line change isn't the greatest, but it describes the current scene and brings attention to the fact that it's coronation day she's preparing for by giving us a line ("And there's two nice ladies helping me get dressed") that can eventually rhyme with "Coronation day is just the best." Again, not perfect, but it gets something done lol
the casting is just so *CHEFS KISS* not only because they have the amazing vocals to do all the music justice, but also because of their acting? hello????? Ana is just sooooooooo Ana.
Am I only the person who’s genuinely surprised by how good it is? Like the quick changing and acting and singing??? Yes please

I like her in this song, but it's love is an open door where it really starts to bother me, the choreo and acting make her seem older/ creepier and it ruins it for me. Other than that I don't mind her playing Anna
Agreed
I thought Patti was great, especially after seeing her in person. She was an Anna that Kristen Bell would b proud of
Patti murin is literally amazing
I like how they added Hans and Kristoff to the end of the song and they are standing on opposite sides which I think gives us foreshadowing
Isabella Thierry I think they were just added for this TV performance. At least Kristoff and Sven.
No no, they are part of the stage performance. When Anna meets Hans for the first time, they fell on Kristoff's cart.
Isabella Thierry Hans always has been in it. At least in Hyperion's version.
Reborn- Lover Hyperion version is pretty different than the broadway adaptation though lmao
Miss Alanna and the broadway version is way different than the every version of frozen lol.
ThatOneTheatreKid actually they revised this version to make it more targeted towards all ages
ThatOneTheatreKid Even if this was particularly made to target the youth demographic, it doesn’t matter how the actresses look up close. I personally think it's refreshing that they cast two women over 35. Why are the general public always obsessed with the age of female actors. They are both very talented. That is all that matters. I'd rather see an older actor get a break personally.

This is so bad i would not waste my money for that
Perhaps they are the best they could get to play the Frozen characters, very good actors, but I have to agree the lead characters look a bit older than ones they’re portraying, though that’s common practice in theater roles.

Okay but can we just acknowledge the fact that Anna is able to pull off such beautiful notes while WEARING A CORSET ???
Fun fact, wearing a corset while singing actually helps you support your voice so it’s actually easier.
Corsets shouldn't restrict your singing ability if you wear the right size and put it on right
@@aidenoliver1681 That's so wrong.
Manuel Orozco I totally agree. A little too dark and dingy. This is a very colorful scene in the film, and should be on stage as well.
Andrea P I understand since Frozen is supposed to be dark in pieces. But most audiences coming into the theatre will be prepared for the happy ending and it's just not showing. So this decreases how anxious I was for the show.
Manuel Orozco this isn't their set, it's the TV stage so on Broadway it would probably look different
I agree! Looks more like the set for Annie's orphanage in colour and lighting schemes. Needs to be brighter in light and color!
chopchop8916 But it is the St James theatre
I enjoyed Elsa's belts a lot. However im not quite sure if I like this adaptation of Anna. The costumes are gorgeous though. Maybe the changes will grow on me, who knows lol.
Teja harper she doesnt look and feel like Anna. Its like watching a lady in her 30's acting like a girl again
She’s seriously perfect. I was lucky enough to see the show and her portrayal of the character was so genuine and lovely.
I think the issue is that the character itself is so cartoony. Anna's first live action appearance was on the show Once Upon A Time and I didn't like her or Elsa's portrayal there either.
I'm irrtated by her pronounciation of some of the words like the song's title itself.
I felt the same watching this...hopefully it's better live. But I loved everything else...
こんなに動き回ってるのに歌詞も正しい音程もしっかり聴こえてくるなんて…。

These actresses are definitely talented and have amazing voices, but I just don’t see them as Anna and Elsa. I just picture then being much younger and these ladies look so old in the role
Taylor G most people on broadway are/look older than their actual role.
Taylor G dude. Amen. I was thinking the same thing. With all of the talented young kids, these are the ladies they cast?! 🤷🏻♀️
Agreed! I'm actually not crazy about any of the main actors they chose. (Except Sven!! Lol)
black kristoph?.. thats hot
Bulma Bunny she wants to stuff chocolate in the face
TiffanyHeartsU wtf
Indeed ;)
Mmmmm black Kristoff is like the hot chocolate on the vanilla icecream and Anna is the cherry on top!
TiffanyHeartsU 👏👏👏🍫👌✨
I love the costumes and Anna's facial expressions, but I'm not a fan of her voice for this role. It isn't delicate enough for the high notes. It seems very heavy to me. Elsa's voice is very strong, but I kinda like it.
Agreed! Anna should have mixed voice for a lot of her songs. Elsa is the belty role. That way there's a contrast between voices and everyone doesn't sound exactly the same lol.
Allis-In-Wonderland I agree
because the songs were TOTAL crap for the GLEE project and not BROADWAY.
no ones voice can bear kristen bells
The actresses should just mime (lip sync) and let someone else sing behind curtain. I actually love the Malay voices for Elsa and Anna. You should look it up on the tube, just type "Let it go Malay" and "For the first time in forever Malay" and don't forget to look up for "Love is an open door Malay", "Ring in the season Malay" (including the reprise) and "When we're together Malay". They're both are really wonderful and gorgeous!
THE SPECIAL EFFECTS BEHIND THIS MUSICAL IS ASTRONOMICAL
Jeez people are so critical. I say hooray for actors working their butts off to entertain. Don't like it?..........Let it go.....
Bruce Coleman this movie is celebrated globally, it’s natural people are going to be upset when such iconic characters are misrepresented- it’s not like people are saying they’re untalented, just that they’re not really the best fit
Was that a pun?
That’s the first one I’ve heard in forever
Puppy Sparkles Omg I get it
It's a loved film.
Comparison and high expectation are inevitable.
dumb
To the hate comments, you try belting high Cs, Eb’s, and Es at 6 in the morning
Well first of all most people are disappointed at the cast esp Anna bcs her KEY characters are lost
And you see, the thing is we AREN'T broadway singers or ANY type of singers why'd you expect them to be able to belt out notes at early morning? They're singers and we're here to judge it's that simple 💁
shknenel99 Bitch you fucking try.
Paige Johannesen amen to that
If you can wake me up at 5:30 then sure I’ll do it
Paige Johannesen I haven’t seen any comments complaining about their voices.
Carissa Shelton it would still be belted because that’s how she would have been directed and future Anna’s will most likely be told to do the same
13 the musical was lead 8 days a week by 13-15 year olds and they did it with tact and grace. the could have found a 20 year old to head on the role
You can still have musical talent with 20 year olds...Anna's, I don't know, youth-like quality is ESSENTIAL for her character
lea salonga did an amazing role as kim when she was younger tho
2022... almost 9 years since frozen came out... and I still get caught by the feelings of this song, both this and the movie version... just woah, the way that Anna's actress passes to us how she's happy because she is finally getting something she really wanted and HOW BIG this is to her this song makes so even me, in this side of the screen, still can feel her happiness!! It's just... INCREDIBLE
I love how they made Anna's desire for romance something like a shallow, sexually-charged sort of love. She later comes to realize that love isn't just finding a gorgeous man that makes you stuff chocolate in your face- it's much, much more.
Aeric Lee mate, it was always shallow in the film too.
But in this version she does get to stuff a chocolate in her face if you know what i mean *wink wink
Jovi Petra tHIS COMMENT MADE ME GASP OUT LOUD OMF
+Jovi Petra LMAO I see what you did there ;D
Jovi Petra Woooooaaahh pull the breaks! haha
In case anyone's interested - the main actresses are both 37. They _are_ too old for the roles. Talented, yes, but not fitting.
That's way to old
chilltime Manatee honestly
I disagree
@Sahar Isobel it would be since Disney cartoon is set in Northern europe. It is pretty nice to see double standards when white people play black role but the opposite is perfectly ok. Poor you
mirka Tardonati wtf are you talking about? I’m not talking about race i said the ladies playing Ana and Elsa are too old for the part.
These two just don't have the same skill or power.
i agree. i think that anna’s voice doesn’t fit the role. too mature and kinda lacking
Bojan Tomic yeah I thought "Anna" was nasaly
At least the sets and costumes look tolerable but leave little to be desired
I sang this song literally with the costume and the wig ang with action as well. I legit found it harder than let it go. At least with let it go, there are areas you can grasp for air plus as Elsa you're gracious and at most just standing. Also the song builds up. This one requires energy from beginning to end. This song required a lot of movement too and while under a heavy dress. Maybe if you were just singing it it's fine but in combination with character portrayal - I was out of breathe already prior to the chorus. From chest tone to head tone real quick 💔😭😂
I mean the original version of the song I'd harder than let it go it always was I just think that the woman wasn't singing in her mixed voice like Anna clearly was it sounds so nasally too Elsas singer was amazing tho
frozen came out in 2013?!??

What the...really???? 2013?? Now 2019....dammm
I know!!! I can't believe it either!
No... what? But frozen is so new....
#getting old squad
Well it was late 2013.
I remember Idina doing an interview where she said that she was told she's a bit older to play Elsa in the broadway version...but honestly with the make up and costuming these girls dont look decades younger than Idina, so im pulling for her to do a short run!!!!!
wigsnatcher430 I think it’s because Idina wouldn’t realistically be able to sing the score 6-8 times a week lmao
Miss Alanna but Idina was the lead in Wicked.
RodPadness idk I just don’t think this role would be healthy for her and if they DO hire her, it would be about a big name for money out of desperation rather than talent, and that’s when I would understand a little
I'm auditioning for Anna's role this summer with taproot theater, wish me luck!
Piper C good luck :) give me an update after you audition I’m taking acting classes this summer
Thank you so much, that is so kind!
I'll be sure to give an update
Good luck!!
@@eternitae0_035 thank you!!!

I WANT TO BE ON BROADWAY 🎭 OH MY GOODNESS THE EXCITEMENT WHEN YOU SING 🎤 ON STAGE!!!!❤️❤️❤️
i just want the money and time to travel to america from n.z just to watch a show
What about the stage fright and flatulence before you go on for the first time? Make sure you bring a fresh change of boxers and panties for opening night, and don't eat Mexican or Italian food for lunch.
Dont do what i did and give up. follow your dream no matter WHAT anyone tells you. Best of luck :)
Beya Rose bro if you wanna be on Broadway don’t wait for it to happen, instead, make it happen. You can do it!
Id be honored to just play sven butt
Patti Murin is the perfect Anna. She's funny and innocent and still optimistic. Vocally, she's outstanding.
how ab no. mckenzie kurt is honestly the best and perfect anna. their voices r good, but the way they portray their roles is just not for me.
@@itzjaaaas I agree wholeheartedly
PREACH
Is no one talking about Sven? He’ lookin good
Caisse and Patti are wonderful, talented actresses, but they just don't feel right in their roles. Elsa and Anna are supposed to be around 21 and 18, yet both actresses are in their late 30s. I'm not saying they're old by any means but they definitely look their age.
cestjeni If Disney is going to continue casting late 30's playing women entering young adulthood, that's one reason i am not seeing this show
cestjeni because most 18-20 year old musical theatre people are NOT vocally trained or ready for roles and music like that.
Tanya I understand but it just feels and looks better when performers play characters who are around their actual age.
THE COSTUMES!! THEYRE GORGEOUS!! THE VOICES!! GORGEOUS!!
Ana doesn't make a convincing teenager/young adult. I think they could've done with casting two younger actresses, as talented as they are it would feel more authentic if they were closer to the intended age and less like
two people just playing parts. I Also don't think it was clever changing the lyrics, even though it's subtle it feels like a bad move with one of the most celebrated known soundtracks of all time it's just so unnecessary.
Ariel King How about you find someone that fits?hahaha
This was Disney broadway, so most likely these are the best actors that fits the roles, and they made it clear that this production’s intended audience were adults, it’s not a children’s play.
That's exactly what I was thinking!
I know no one cares but I was the 1k like ...😕And also I agree
Teu cu
There acting is stunning, I LOVED THE CAST
And how they sing makes me actually believe the character just jumped out of a screen in to Broadway, everything just fits so perfectly with the caracter traits
And god there singing is amazing
The casting is low-key weird... Except for Kristoph.
Kristoff
facts.
Yh
what’s wrong with it? it’s perfect casting, they’re amazing actors and actresses
I've just never heard anyone sing like this in other musicals. nNnNg
のんのん . nonnon The title! Especially when she pronounces 'time in'.
Eliza Fernandez riGHT? and she drags out a lot of other words, too, it's just off to me
She has a lovely tone to her voice, but the accent is all wrong and ruins it, making her sound very nasaly
Well because their main audience are children and in classical music, we have to emphasize the words and articulate the vowels and consonants correctly and clearly for the audience to understand the lyrics. And especially since Anna's part is a little it fast, if she sang it, well like pop, then you would not understand anything.
Elbert Templo You say that, but the singing was fine in the movie. So idk.
1:02 I think I heard her say "Thank u, next!" XD
Overwatch~~! :D
omg YES
she said "thank you, THANKS"
I thought I was the only one😝
Wølf Kaysha wowo
3:34 that was so cool how Anna was reaching toward Elsa, longing to see her sister, but then “ooh the gates are open!!” I thought that really was in tune with Anna as a character. I also love how they updated the costumes and added to them, yet kept them familiar.
I can imagine a young Kristin Chenoweth playing Princess Anna. This role suits her and her voice really well.
Rick H It would work if she was in her younger days when Kristin just won her Tony for playing Sally in You're A Good Man Charlie Brown in 99
I don't want to be a hater but I didn't feel it (the Disney magic). It still looks like a lot of fun.
PullipKisses me too
Anna's voice just wasn't cutting it for me. Maybe she was just having a bad day. Elsa's voice was beautiful as always.
Same
It's just my opinion I've heard her in other things and she has a beautiful voice.
Completely agree
Faithful B.G. I think it's a matter of casting and not too much a matter of genre, but okay I guess.
Especially Ana looks too old.
But I think that when you are in the public you won’t notice that much.
のんのん . nonnon
Yeah they seem a little old in frozen they were like 18-19 idk they just looked young
- - I think you can see it on stage too, though it's less obvious.
Their voices are mature and seasoned! Well done. It’s ok that they are not teenagers. We can’t have both gifts at the same time- rarely we do🥰
Also who would cast a teen on Broadway? The hectic schedule requires someone seasoned.
Why didn’t they cast Jonathan Groff as Kristoff?
He does broadway, right?
blueshrimp i wish they would’ve I’m a die hard Jonathan groff fan but maybe they thought it would be too predictable or maybe they wanted to create their own version of the movie? whatever it is, it’s probably the same reason they didn’t cast Idina as Elsa
blueshrimp He was in Hello Dolly on broadway at the time I beleive.
Guess you’re right
i love groff but jelani alladin is amazing
Lmao everyone in the movie cast does broadway...
I loved how everyone cheered for Kristoff, but not Hans😂they know what’s up
I think the moose was a large aspect of the cheering as well :D
anna's voice sounds so heavy?
Rose Gabrielle Austria Its actually not that bad but I agree
MariannaBea Idk a lot of us expected a lighter, less belty, “disney princess-y” voice reminiscent of the original movie, or Princess Jasmine or Belle or any other disney princess you can think of in contrast to Elsa’s belty voice
MariannaBea like it doesnt sound jovial and young. so it doesnt fit the character that much.
Manuel Orozco it's not bad at all but i think it doesnt fit the character
Rose Gabrielle Austria I agree on that. Range okay but just the effort itself is good
Why is everyone hating on these amazing talented girls ?!
Ok first of all, If you didn’t notice, no one looks like the Disney princesses because it’s a fcking animated movie so don’t say they should’ve found someone who looks more like them, second it’s hard finding younger actresses and singers who could pull all of this off and third OF COURSE their voices sound different because they are different people, they are not Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell so stop saying their voices don’t fit or are to deep or whatever •__•
This was fantastic and they did an amazing job
It’s a Broadway show and not a live action version of the movie...
@@DonnaandHarvey but they looked younger though. She looks a good 40.
Regina Mills they’ve already done so many other Disney musicals on broadway, with much better casts
Exactly. Recording in a booth with multiple takes is a completely different skill set compared to having to act, dance and sing live at the same time.
@@dude_boi6677 they DO act like in the movie. It's a cartoon and it's just as dramatic. Doesn't blend well in real life
Patti's voice is beautiful but she doesn't have the innocence that Anna is pictured to have in the movie she just sounds to mature for the role
IDINA MENZEL HAS BEEN ON BROADWAY ALREADYYY BRING HER BACKKKK
can she afford it though
She’s 48 years old. Don’t get me wrong, she still has the pipes and looks great, but people are already complaining about Caissie and Patti “feeling” too old: Idina is ten years older.
Also, I’m pretty sure she would literally hate to do this.
Elizabeth Grace
She’s 48?
I genuinely thought she was in her mid-thirties
Idina's great but she's a little bit to old for this show, and her natrual voice can't belt like Cassie and Elsa's notes
So has Jonathan Groff (spring awakening, Hamilton, and others) and josh gad (book of Mormon, probably others), and Kristen bell
The voice is brilliant.... But i think they have no resemblance to ana and elsa...... They are still young so it would be better if the leads are younger... More like in their 19-20's
19-20? Not for a High Budget Broadway production probably mid to late 20s versus the women here who are mid to late 30s
@@vulbvibe He said "20's" that is 19-29
O O O I suppose so 🤔
kookiee love can you imagine if some punk came up to you when you’re 37 and told you to retire? pht, people can barely recognize age the other half of the time all teens are being played by significantly older people etc bc they are at their prime for objectifying, do you know how difficult it is to make it like they did on broadway? Usually harder than for a 19-20 year old without fully developed voices
That’s the single worst idea one could come up to, if I have to be honest.
A Broadway audience can’t tell the age of an actor during the show. What they can tell is if you put a college-aged kid to carry on their shoulder a high-budget production that requires them to consistently hit notes that have been modelled on the voice of a hyper-experienced Broadway actress, and that could easily injure them if performed with a less-than-perfect technique.
When she goes “ for the first tOiMe in foreverrrrrrrrrrr”
- Belen - lmao
- Belen - I’m sorry but do you no how hard it is to belt “I” and “er” I don’t think you do, so I’ll let you know something, she is changing her vowels so that the singing doesn’t come out pinched and pitchy.
Elizabeth Löf Well lol it still did come out pitchy
- Belen - you KNOW you’re soooo right. God I feel so stupid 😂 in all seriousness though this was a good talk 💯😊
- Belen - don’t apologize to me, apologize to Patti Murin for insulting her ☺️✌️
I loved them. Musical theater requires over pronunciation, this is not Disney.
it’s a Broadway show, BY Disney
thats not what they meant-
@@sabrinafeliciano5702 I know... I meant to establish a difference between a disney movie and a broadway show. There is a need for excessive pronunciation in musical theater due to the position of microphones, distance between the cast and the public, and many other factors that could interfere with the sound and understanding of words. ☺
ohh I see what you mean. you’re right about that, sorry!
@@sabrinafeliciano5702 No worries! I understand my comment was not very clear 💕
The voice of the actress who plays Elsa.😍😍😍😍I replay 3 times her part😍😍😍😍

Caissie Levy is the one and only Elsa!
Tyler Mckenzie no. Idina is
The lyrics don't fit.
Same its too cringy
Tbh they too old for the roles
That was incredible.
I'd love to see this live.
Can you imagine hearing this music and their singing fill the halls?! Wow
Saw them live in Broadway, they were both incredible. The entire cast was incredible. The entire show was pretty amazing.
1. That wig change was amazing! How did they do it? 2. Erika Hennigson (Cady Heron in Mean Girls) would be an AMAZINGGG Anna!!
Brenda Burt yeah and she’s actually the right age
The messy wig was on top of the coronation one! All she had to do was whip the messy one off behind the partition and fix her bangs and voila! Perfect hair :)
I WOULD LOVE TO SEE HER PLAYING THIS!!!! her voice is so much younger and more light and pure I guess. This was way too sophisticated for me so that would be outstanding to see
how did you know this, that's cool,
That wig transformation was so quick
MissVenise it’ll be on top of her Anna wig and when she goes behind the partition she’ll literally just have to whip it off and be done with it
It gives me chills. The actors and actresses were really great!!! I love it.
not sold on their voices but damn! that prince hans is soo handsome
they cant sing and the songs are total crap.
Yessss!!! Hans is so hot!!
The cast just isn't Disney enough
Aaron Binesha probably because this is not animated
i mean it’s not a disney production
You mean because Elsa and Anna don't have big eyes and wasp tails?:D
Chibimon99 no I meant more like they have quite unattractive faces and boring voices
They should do a frozen Broadway musical record it and put it on Netflix
Kawaiilover432 i would pay 50 dollars to see it on netflix
Disney is planning on establishing their own streaming service, at which point I'm sure they'll release recordings of many of their musicals to go alongside the massive library of Star Wars and Marvel content.
Michael Heliotis YAAAAAY!!!
ew
I want to see The Little Mermaid one. That was great
She did great. Walking and wearing all those dresses then singing. Can't you just appreciate the gal, geez.
Is it wrong if I cried at how beutiful the company and the main characters complement each others?
The fact that I was holding my breath and I did not even realize it....so that's what BREATHTAKING feels like.
the mickey plush was great in Denver, but sir Jorgen bjorgen adds such a nice and meaningful touch. They truly have a phenomenal eye for detail!!!!!!
@@kayleighhope7245 Exactly. We have to over pronounce. It's basically a law of singing, lol.
You're entitled to your opinion, mine is- best cast ever and Anna and Elsa are amazing.
damn is it that serious
emily toal yup
Those sets are spetacular!!
I can tell these negative comments aren’t from ppl who don’t usually “Stan” broadway musicals 😂
Y’all are mentioning lyrics changes, asking where the microphones are, that Patti and Caissie “don’t fit the roles” 😂 a LOT goes to have a bway show running and it has to meet a lot of requirements and notes form composers, directors, executives, etc
Lauren Muncie I feel it with Anna not Elsa though. They’re still amazing actresses.
Lauren Muncie ok no I agree. I think (especially Patti) they r both too old for these roles?? Like Anna is 18 and Else is 21 and the woman playing Anna is in her 30’s and she LOOKS like she’s in her 30’s and irk I really don’t like her in this role at all :/
I absolutely love Disney on Broadway
Why is everyone criticizing Kristoff because he's black.....I think it's awesome.
Omg are people actually doing that?? Thats awful
@@joshietoshie Omg you didnt read the comments?? thats awful
Victoria hmmm... i think racism is def more awful than me not reading the comments? Also idk is they’re an article about what happend or something
@@joshietoshie I mean like I don't think anyone was really saying anything about him being black. I just see all the other comments about the performance. Basically, don't take someone else's word for it without checking the comments. But no nothing happened.
Victoria i was asking a question to clarify and also didnt mention anything about the comments... no one answered except you with a snarky comment... ALSO fyi people were critizing having an african american Kristoff on instagram and Jalanie opened up about it... thats what this comment was about.... www.broadwayworld.com/article/FROZEN-Star-Jelani-Alladin-Responds-to-Racist-Troll-in-New-Instagram-Post-20180628
i just can't get behind this actress for anna... she sings so well! but idk what it is about her.
Sara Mackenzie It's because she's much too old to play the part she's been cast in. Can't fault her talent though.
Sara Mackenzie she’s talented but she does not fit Anna at all
This is my first time watching, i have watch Frozen movie, but to see this musical, i teared a bit because of how good this is.
Great, now watching Broadway show live is on my to-do-list before i die.
Why can’t we just appreciate the performance and the people who performed? It’s totally amazing! In fact, they are all talented and blessed with a good voice. 💕
I kind of hate that they changed some of the lyrics. I was disappointed with that when I saw it for the first time at the theater
It's better then singing about a ballroom with no balls... :-D
Jessica Alexis Delgado I'm just saying they could've made better lyric choices
nalalyon she still does sing about the “ballroom with no balls”.

It’s for stage not screen.
that really true
Look at how happy Caissie and Patti look I'm crying
見に行ってみたいなぁ!
この短い動画だけでちょっと涙出てきた笑
"Tell the guards to open UP!!!!.... the GATEEEESSSSS!!""- goose bumps!!!
Even if the casting doesn’t make what people may have expected, you gotta give props for belting those notes so early in the morning
OMG HER VOICE IS SO STABLE EVEN IF SHE'S MOVING..RUNNING... LIKE HOW?!? 😭💙
"You can't marry a person you just meet"
( a line from elsa in the movie frozen)
And that's why she's a queen and the others are just princesses
aleZ look whos queen now lol
