I prefer the Weller 12 to the 107, but just slightly. Used to buy this off the shelf for $27, now it's only available through lottery. Unfortunately the bourbon secondary market is completely out of control.
I was just in Kentucky this past week. We can’t get any Weller in Virginia so I tried while there. Nothing at the larger liquor stores so we started with small stores. I found a Weller 12 for $180.00. Two stores later I found the 107 in a large bottle for $70.00. Thanks for all you guys do.
Great uncorking. I was lucky enough to find a bottle of Weller 12 while traveling through Louisville back in June. Yeah, it was expensive... Today, however, I hit the jackpot traveling in West Virginia (Elkins) and found Weller Special Reserve for $21.49/bottle, and Antique 107 a little higher at $21.99. I bought both bottles of 107 they had, and picked up a couple of the Special Reserve bottles. Couldn't believe the prices. Funny that they had regular Buffalo Trace on the shelves for $34 or so.
I live in Ontario, Canada. Welller is rare here. I have never had the Weller 12. This year both the Antique and Special Reserve were available. Bought 6 of each. Have to say I LOVE the antique. Love them wheaters! Hope to try the Weller 12 one day.

Great review! I prefer 107 as well. Though I've only ever had a pour, not a full bottle of 12 to explore. I have never had CYPB though. Re: What else still has a 12 year age statement? ECBP still does! Not always the easiest to find, but easier than Weller 12 no doubt.
I'm off all BT products because of all the allocation shenanigans, they've been storing GTS in stainless steel tanks to control release amounts for years and it's starting to look like that across their range, IMHO. Great review though as always.
I get a handle of it once a year and that runs about $65 after tax. I have bought a 750 though for $50 which is a reasonable markup. I’d never spend $300 for this as there are far more superior bottles in the range
Never found a bottle on a store shelf, but I just tried it here in the historic Stanley Hotel bar (Happy Halloween), and I was surprisingly impressed. I really liked it (despite the insanely high price per glass).
It should be called Upper Middle Class Pappy now. Secondary market pricing by me hovers around $120 to $150 per bottle. What I find sad is that the people that were doing this pricing are Bourbon drinkers. Frickin gougers.
I gave into the secondary price when it was 179, now I see it for 379 so I don't feel as screwed over. Speaking of trying to have a pour at a bar, Harry's Cocktail Bar in Kansas City gouges $20 a pour for Weller Antique.
At $99 retail in Washington before tax, this is an easy pass. OWA107 is now retailing for $59-79 and as much as I love the 107, I dont see buying that anytime soon.... glad I stocked up when I did.
Nice review on the W 12yr. I have a question for you and your followers: if you had a chance to buy a bottle of Rip 10 for $90 or a handle of Weller 12 for $43 which would you choose? FYI, I went with the Rip 10 but now I have buyers remorse.
At the beginning of 2020 we are in stupid bourbon prices and I've seen a 1L for $349. Got mine at a lottery for $42. I'm ready for the hipsters to move along and let me enjoy all of the bourbon that's being made now to try and forcast demand.
My local liquor store looked out for me recently. They only had one bottle come in that day and held it for me. Charged me only $70. With my previous purchase of OWA 107 (Store Pick Single Barrel), I am finally going to try to blend them for Poor Man's Pappy. P.S. I am somewhat new to whisky, so I never was able to try these at their cheaper price points.
I'd love to try this but in Ohio this is available via lottery only. OWA is fairly easy to find, thought the price just recently went up from $30 to $40. I'm hoping that making OWA more expensive will lead to more availability of W12 but I won't hold my breath.
I WISH I could pick this up for $25 -$30 a bottle. Honestly even $40-$50 would still be a good value for this. Unfortunately it’s allocated down here in Kansas and to get it, well let’s say it’s hard. Fortunately though the 107 is easier to get so I guess I’m lucky that way.... By the way another great video. I just got a bottle of this, under $30, by being at the right place at the right time. Being a 90 proof, should it be drank neat? Large ice cube? Put in wine quick chiller, no ice, so no watering down? And is it ruined by adding water? I am new. Been a beer and tequila drinker mostly.

I’d love to get this but unfortunately it’s a lottery bottle in Ohio - and I didn’t win. We do get 107 here, and weekly, so my stock of that should last me a while. 👌🏽
Weller bourbons are all great and the 12 is no exception. My problem is its only a solid midrange bourbon at best and is a great buy at it's retail price. With the market the way it is for bottles like this it's nowhere near worth its secondary price and not worth hunting down when better available bottles are more easily available. I also have to agree with the 107 Antique being a better pour as that extra proof just gives it so much more flavour.

I work at a big liquor chain. This stuff is an "allocated product" and you have to be a regular or on a waiting list to get. I am constently bugged about this stuff aside blantons, antique, pappy, mckenna, etc.. i just grabbed a bottle of this for the first time the other day and i was so underwhelmed it put a bad taste in my mouth due to the fact i have to lie to people every day about this product. 5.5/10. IMO this being so over hunted by everyone and their mother leads to people being let down when they drink it. That and the pricing. From what I gather at up to $50 it is worth it and tastes great. At $150 to $200 no way.
£150 a bottle in the UK and even then it's like rocking horse shit.
Glenfiddich 21 yr
I work at a big liquor chain. This stuff is an "allocated product" and you have to be a regular or on a waiting list to get. I am constently bugged about this stuff aside blantons, antique, pappy, mckenna, etc.. i just grabbed a bottle of this for the first time the other day and i was so underwhelmed it put a bad taste in my mouth due to the fact i have to lie to people every day about this product. 5.5/10. Hype to blame.
Where and what store can I buy this at for $25-35 dollars?
Please let me know.
I'd like to pickup a couple of bottles.
The Whiskey Tasting I just bought the last bottle at my local Costco for $32 + tax.
Bahahaha 49.99 update for 2022
So not a special whiskey...just hard to find bt products
Octmore 10.1 scotch whiskey
This is why I hate Australian bottle (Liquor) shops, Weller 12 is $260-$280 Australian Dollars. 🤬
Smokehead. Single malt scotch whiskey
Just walked out of this store that was selling this for $600! Greedy!
Is "uncorking" like something you say, like a catch phrase? Because you cannot uncork a Weller 12 😂 it has a screw cap not a cork
Yeah, very occasionally an episode of Uncorking is actually an "Unscrewing", which doesn't have the same ring to it. Haha!
A very tasty $30 bourbon. But can never equal the hype from the BT fanboys.
FOMO wrecks things for ordinary people. Even if I could find any Weller bottle here, it surely wouldn't be as affordable as it was when and where y'all made the video (Lexington? I can't remember for sure). If certain people would quit acting like mindless lemmings, the rest of us might be able to learn what they're all het up about.
The chick ruined the video. Next video.
No she nails it. And the guy never gets nothing, so I guess there must be a 3rd reviewer we're watching.
