Wow you're right, that torque seems too little. These turbo engines are pushing a lot of compression for those little studs/torque. Thanks for sharing 🤙👍

my 2018 1.5 started showing symptoms at 60k (although that was after ~35k miles w/ a tune). returned to stock, ran some kseal through cooling system. at 75k now, occasional misfire under harder acceleration but consuming a fraction of the coolant it was. just nursing it along until i do gasket diy w/ arp kit when i have time

Just turned 120k but have been smelling coolant for several+ months. Assumed the odor was because of the coolant was coming due to be changed. Couldn't find anything under the hood. This should be an extended warranty issue.

I had a head blown gasket at 79,540 Honda accord manual sport .dealer quoted 7,560 to resurface and replace head gasket and labor.service rep said he would try the goodwill program Honda has but no guarantees.I paid 1500 and Honda covered the rest thru warranty. New gasket, spark plugs and injectors.

Could you imagine sacrificing your own brand's reliability you worked so hard to earn? Can you also imagine what it would cost Honda to do a recall of potentially millions of engines that then need to be re-machined when they can't even get enough fuel pumps in stock for this recall ....(Which....according to the service manager) can also damage the injectors. Billions in $ assuming.

Other mechanics told me it's "odd" at that mileage. Honda dealership in Paramus, NJ made a video of the antifreeze residue in cylinders #1 and #2. For those who have gone through this head gasket issue, have you had to replace your entire engine or what the head gasket (bolts, injectors, plugs, etc) enough?
I really don’t want to replace the head gasket if the engine has to go with it.
Also does anyone know if bad spool valve is caused by blown head gasket. The reason I ask is because mechanic is telling me I have to replace spool valve before he can truly diagnose head gasket (although it is obviously the underlying issue - oil sludge, coolant disappeared with no leak, overheated once for a less than a minute before I parked). I don’t want to replace spool valve and have the head gasket wreck it again.

Letting all you honda owners know that a low or bad battery causes problems with the vehicle. Stalls or hiccups. Honda dealership where I’m at said it was a head gasket and was trying to get me to pay I I imagine more than 4,000 dollars or trade in my vehicle. I didn’t believe that was an issue and scanned it my self with the one reader and only found and electrical code that popped up so I was like “it can’t be the head gasket….. I took a day off work checking for leaks in the coolant and other stuff and I finally fixed the stalling and jerking. Guess what it was in the end!!! It was a loose battery terminal🤣🤣🤣 Thank God! So I changed the old battery and tightened the battery terminal with a screw in between. All fixed now. I didn’t trust dealerships before and I still don’t trust them.😅😅😅

I realise the 2.0t doesn't have this problem but I think I know what might be the cause, firstly the 1.5 t head bolts stretch after a while due to the poor material of the head bolts also the accord 1.5 t has a higher boost pressure at about 20 psi I think, so high boost on high compression engine with inferior headbolts are a recipe for blow gasket.
