    Bro 21W charging when the OnePlus Open is capable of 67W charging is absolutely insane. It takes me maybe 45-50 mins to go from completely dead to full charge. Now I bought my open in January to replace my old Fold2, so I'm not gonna be upgrading to a new foldable for several years (and I'm quite excited to see how much more improved new models will be when I do.) However, if I were to be upgrading after the release of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and had it and Samsung's Z Fold6 as upgrade options, I think I would still probably pick the OnePlus Open. The multitasking is phenomenal, a lot of the gestures are very intuitive, the display sizes are great, and all for significantly cheaper than the other two similar options. Just my opinion tho.

      i wish the pixel fold would get some of the features from the one plus open. i never had an issue with charging speeds on my pixel fold (first gen). maybe i don’t use my phone as much as others do since i never really cared about charging speeds that much regardless of the device. i charge my phone overnight so if its still alive by the time i go to bed then that’s good enough for me.

    • @jesuscervantesj82

      @@DarrinLin to be honest with you, charging speeds and it has been proven by I. Fix it that's charging a phone had tremendous speeds. I'm an awareness charger or wired may degrade the battery depending your situation. Then where you are, charging your phone around your house. I personally wouldn't care about charging speeds. As soon as I can, I am gonna transition to the folding pixel. Maybe the third gen, because my return window.It's now closed, so I gotta stay with samsung

    People comparing pre-release performance is meaningless. Just look at the slope of the G4 and G3 curves; it is clear the old device is software tuned to maximise performance and thermals and is slowly tunning down, while the new one didn't have this optimisation, so it runs at max speed until it hits a cliff and thermals stabilise. I'm almost certain that by the time the final firmware rolls out, you will see a gradual slope from 100% to ~70% and maintain a higher peak and average than the G3.

    What I have missed is why Google thinks it's sufficient to offer $760 for the Pixel Fold toward the newer version? How is Samsung able to give $1200 for the Fold 5 towards the Fold 6? Samsung was even willing to offer $800 for the Pixel Fold on trade in. While it isn't much higher than Google, it still is higher. What does it say about a company that won't match or better the competition?

    Coming from iphones and having pre-ordered the Pixel 9 Pro Fold it didn't even occur to me that face unlock couldn't be used for some apps. It's such a mainstay that face ID works for everything on an iphone I found it odd it wouldn't be the same for all new Android phones.

    I'm seriously thinking about canceling my pre-order. I had to get two warranty replacement phones for the pixel fold because the Android system suffered a loading error. And now the same has happened to my pixel 8 pro. At this point I may be done with Google. I love using their UI and I feel so comfortable with their products but dealing with their inconsistencies is maddening.

    • @Steven-e7c
      @Steven-e7c 2 месяца назад

      I've had nothing but trouble too. I had 2 warranty replacements and also did an insurance claim due to the screen dying on me. They of course assumed I dropped or something but I told them I didn't. Luckily my insurance only charged me $100 to replace my Pixel Fold's screen. I tried selling it on eBay, but they seem to be selling for next to nothing. I don't feel the google trade-ins are fair either. Samsung is even offering more for a Pixel Fold than Google. Go figure.

    What I found out about the original fold is that it often didn't charge at the highest speeds BUT if you reset the phone then it would go to 19-21 watts. It took a reset or charging while it's off to get that full 21 watts. This was something that bugged me forever

    • @kalkydra
      @kalkydra 2 месяца назад +2

      Google would then have the opportunity to "MURDER" OnePlus Open 2 with the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, and the cycle would continue. I think we, as users, sometimes lose perspective with these short product cycles and huge leaps in technology. It's important to focus on what works for us now and what's available in the market. That said, I do understand your point. I've been using the Z Fold series since the first iteration, and now I'm making the jump from the Z Fold 5 to this one. I'm really looking forward to it!

    • @Eskeeter03
      @Eskeeter03 2 месяца назад +1

      @kalkydra I don't think so. Google could have done it this time but fumbled. They chose to decrease the battery capacity and not include turbo fast charging. They also decide to decrease the camera hardware, relying heavily on the software, probably to boost the hardware down the line for future upgrades. That's a gamble. They should've just made the Google Fold 2 the heavyweight of foldables. They chose not to this time. They'll do the same next time.

    • @Eskeeter03
      @Eskeeter03 2 месяца назад

      @kalkydra I think a lot of these tech giants are underestimating the Chinese smartphone market. Google has pretty much stolen Chinese designs for both foldable devices. They're underestimating the advancement in their OS efficiency as well.

It feels as it some if not most of the announce features will eventually make it to the original Fold through some Pixel Drops. I was able to handled the Google 9Pro Fold in the Google store. It literally is a copy of the OnePlus in the edges design, even the hinge "feel" when open/close.
    It is same as a OnePlus(!).
    The main difference is that it is uncomfortably bigger. That little bit taller and wider than the OnePlus, which seems unnecessary. It really doesn't help when it's also HEAVIER, (Ugg!) because it heavier weight just adds to making it MORE clumsy in the hand! Jumbo/Dumbo sized phone!
    Then there is the issue with the bezels again!. They are using the same cheap shiny plastic for the bezels!.. (although much thinner), which are prone to finger smudge and scratches.. UGG WHY! WHY! .
    The saving grace, was that it is cooool to the touch(!) and navigated quick and smooth when I tried UI & apps. It was overall still impressive to see.
    This is going to be a skip/leap year for me. Decided to sell my Pixel Fold (instead of trading it in for this upgrade), and now holding onto the OnePlus Open, for now. Probably even for next year as I don't need small refinements when the OnePlus is so far ahead overall.

I believe that the delay to upgrade the charging speed is to keep their brand relevant in the future, because the smart phone hasn't went through any revolutionary hardware changes over the last couple of years. This is their marketing strategy to incentivise or to lure people to continue buying their products. They don't want to be in a position where they are out of new ideas, ideas to attract new customers and to keep their old customers. 😎💯💪🏾👍🏾

    The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, which specializes in AI and has a large working space, is a very attractive device, but I think you should check the performance of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold (the name may change) that will be launched in a year. The reason is that the manufacturing of the SoC will be changed from Samsung to TSMC. One of the reasons why the Pixel series was poorly rated in the past was its low performance and poor energy efficiency. I think it will be better to make a purchase decision after checking whether it will be improved with the SoC made by TSMC, so that you can make a choice without regrets.
    Please pray that the smartphone I'm using now won't break.😁

      Pixels have had display out over USB C since the 8 Series. A true desktop mode is hard to predict, but there has 100% been work done on it.

    Well, thats always the case, devices almost never charge at the maximum power its capable of. They're always 4-5 watts less... That's just how it works.
    Just like how if manufacturers increase the charging specs by 5 watts noone is ever gonna notice that...

    A smaller battery reaching 100% faster is about as semantics as semantics get, lol.

    • @scaryifliteral
      @scaryifliteral  2 месяца назад

      It's literally true. If better software and a more efficient processor / modem allows them to get more battery life out of a smaller battery you would indeed have a phone that charges faster and potentially lasts just as long if not longer.

      @@scaryifliteral the battery reaches 100% faster. It rate of charging is not faster. "the battery reaches 100% faster"
      Right.
      "It rate of charging is not faster."
      Depends on how you're measuring it. Faster through the cable? No. Faster to full? Yes. I don't really care how you define it, you know exactly what I mean and are instead choosing to nitpick words, which is funny because you're saying I'm arguing semantically lol.

      Again, it'll be charged much faster. What you specifically prefer has no bearing on any of this. I'm just laying out the idea that it'll be full faster and with other improvements the actual battery life should be fine.

      @@scaryifliteral there's only one definition of faster or rate. It's whatever you're measuring over time. Period. Faster to 100% is not faster to anything except full. Which is not measuring speed or rate in any way. To say it gets to 100% faster is a useless statistic.

    I watch all of your videos. And really didn't know where to post this. I know that I'm going to be in the minority but I had to mention it. I only got $760 for my Pixel Fold when trading towards the 9 Fold. I did get a little over $400 in store credit. Which I'm going to use for the watch. I'm also trading in my Watch 2 towards the 45mm Watch 3. That gets me $220 off of the $399. I'm rambling but the store credits will allow me to get the new watch and buds for next to nothing. that's not awful to me. Unless I'm missing something.

    It's a pretty bad trade-in program and honestly it's going to hurt them. I really don't see anything better but the larger screen size and new aspect ratio. I don't see the added ram doing much since the G4 is a pretty slow processor compared to the Snapdragon varient. Gaming is going to suck. Let's be honest here, it's not a good-looking phone, and it actually looks more like an unfinished prototype. The outer left-side bezel looks awful 😖! The people I knew who were interested in the Pixel 9 Pro Fold got turned off by the event. Since then, most have told me they're instead going with the Samsung Z Fold 6.
