That is an old enough tractor where that is not an issue at all. There is manuals that go completely through that engine. New John Deere tractors are definitely hard to repair yourself. Older ones though are great to work on and typically very reliable
You should both make three engines and three vehicles. One small, one medium, and one large of both. You give the vehicles to each other, and use your engines in the one you get, then run challenges or races with them. But here's the catch.... Both are randomly selected.. (basically you try to guess which size vehicle they are gonna give you) so you could get a small vehicle with a large engine, or large vehicle with a small engine. Each vehicle and engine can only be used once.
It would be cool if you go back and fine tune the vehicle after trying it out. Maybe you could both do a separate fine tune and do some challenges again? Make some rules or something about how much you can change things but have open reign on things like gearbox and suspension etc...
Kosmo and Butch sounds like an awesome 70's buddy cop tv show! 😉 You should build a couple of policecars and go solve some crimes. On a more serious note, i got Automation back in 2017 i think it was. I didn't even know you could export the cars to Beam until watching your videos. So now i have to get BeamNG too i guess.
haha thanks for the wholesome comment xD Had fun imagining that cop buddy scenario 🤣 Do it!! It's so great to be able to drive them properly afterwards :)
I love how he’s able to make a 2.7L i3 cylinder that is bigger than my 1.8L 1975 Fiat i4 cylinder, and have the 2.7L still make half the power lol. That’s actually mind blowing how you can have so much displacement and make so little power. That’s on par with the model T engines. Also for future builds cosmo, if you want to make an engine with no power just build a normal engine that works great. Then give it a really small carb and restrictive exhaust. Add a smog pump/rebreather going into the intake for extra points. That’s how they killed the power in my car. My car makes 84hp stock, but makes over 100hp just by replacing the exhaust and carb. Easiest way to kill a cars power is get the government involved.
Also if you are looking for engines specs to build, there are countless resources for my car’s engine. You can find every single measurement possible for this engine. 1975 fiat 124 spider, 1800cc inline 4, North American market. Would be super cool to see your version of it in one of your videos.
22:43 hey if a grandpa is recording it im sure theres a grandma out there watching lmao, and yes we love this series so pls keep goin (dont ask me for ideas tho im not gud at those)
You can comfortably make a turbo version of this engine. Lots of old tractor engines back in the day had a turbo version, even those from the 60s. Personally i would have went for an I4 instead of an I3, I4 engines were the most common
I really love these challenges! Maybe next time you guys could build cars with the imsa prototype body that automation has? Then you could make the only requirement that the engine has to fit in the back of it.
That motor has an Up-Draft Carb on it, most vehicles did not get EFI until the 80s and tractors are normally 10-20 years behind as their more relaxed on EPA regulations.
I want to see a competition with a budget limit. Set some sort of low price and then compare racing performance, drag race, maybe off road, then also like normal stuff like mpg, comfort and reliabilitty
really wish they made a space flight sim like this. really enjoying this series, i personally like it better if you learn while you play and not study in between but as long as you're having fun that makes for a good show.
I'm not sure how this game works but the reason it said that the engine would break right away might be because you didn't put balancing shafts on it: 3cyl engines have inherently unbalanced verticle inertia forces from pistons moving up and down. And harmonic balancer is used to fight tortional vibrations in the crankshaft which aren't that dangerous in a 3cyl since crankshaft is very short. It could also be that you put too heavy of a harmonic balancer and the engine breaks trying to overcome it's inertia.
There are some good racing maps, especially an Uphill one where you can race with engines at maybe 100~200 kilometers per hour, mixing a little bit of everything for a challenge
One of my favorite cars I've ever made in Automation is a sports car with a V10 - except the V10 tops out at 2000 rpm. I called it the "growler" because that's what it does... It doesn't rev, it just goes "grrrr"
The biggest issues you have is, 1: adjusting intake and exhaust before you even finish the engine... these are done LAST as they make a HUGE impact on how your engine runs, and where you make power. 2: your cam is too aggressive, literally not even using 70% of your cam at 3000 rpm. Fun video though.
You should have chosen another year fir the engine, on top left, it'll change the power and the technology available to match your beautiful reference engine
Now, that is not how utility engines are built. First thing, in Automation you can easily replicate a diesel engine both in terms of high knock threshold for high comp and really good fuel economy by using 150RON Compressed Gas as fuel. Second thing, utility engines are basically AAAALLLL low end torque, so in Automation that means the Cam and Valvetrain stiffness value hovers is always between 0-10, never above. Third, always use standard low for both intake and exhaust, because automation doesn't get it quite right but realistically utility engines don't flow much hair due to their cam setup, hence a standard low behaves the most similarly to a real tractor or truck engine. Finally, you used a Port Injected EFI in this but the engine you're referencing uses mechanical injection for both petrol and diesel variants. All that being said, really good video 😊
as far as i know this game should support Diesel engines.. i never played it but i watched a guy on youtube compare built diesel and gasoline engines that have the same Displacement and Turbo pressure :) so there might be a button or something
Hey I noticed most of your questions can be answered by chatGPT including compression and such And then you can for sure just reverse search somehow and find if it’s actually true but mostly it is
I mean, just keep the mismatching going. Have a massive torque hauling super car. Have a 2000hp T-series. Just the opposite of what they look like. The ultimate sleeper series. Will your off-brand Evade Stallion Hades Feline do a 7.72 quarter mile? Nah, but it'll pull the truck hauling the truck hauling the trailer your other off-brand Evade Stallion Hades Feline is on to and from the track.
wait... did those specs (1:32) just say 50 hp and 129 lb-ft? because that's a whole lot better than the engine you made for the 50 hp challenge video 😂 maybe you should have made a tractor engine for your massive wagon 😅
As requested....*pushes the roast Kosmo button*. I would have no clue on the engine stats either...so you did at least as well as I would have or better. :)
its not that you picked an obscure engine, its that you picked an engine from a company that doesnt want any aftermarket and doesnt want you to make any repairs on it. you picked the apple of engine manufacturers
That engine would be carbureted and would only rev up to about 2k. Pretty old engine, built more for torque than anything. Meant to be at full throttle constantly
too high of compression will make the engine pull timing, meaning that you're going to get knocking/pinging, loss of power and reliability. the dyno graph has a timing indiactor that shows blue from the top down when its pulling timing (just below "RPM [1/min]").
That's sorta why I found it odd that it wasn't giving me a knocking warning at 16:1! I am sure there's a perfectly good explanation for it based on the other variables I chose, but I am used to it not being happy when it's that high
I love how we both wanted to throw a curveball at each other, and somehow it kinda worked!
😅😆 The mind games that will ensue if we keep doing this are gonna be ridiculous haha.

The pictured tractor engine has a carburetor. The presence of a fuel pump doesn't mean the engine has fuel injection.
yeah i'm not sure why so many people think that how do they think fuel gets to the front of the car no matter how its put into the engine lol
Idk, but the tractor I have has gravity feeding all the way to the injector that could have just as well been a carburetor
part of the reason you had a hard time finding info on the john deere engines is that they actively make repairing them your self harder
that's a bummer :/
Yeah, they a very anti right to repair
