I have made a car with over 16k hp. Automation said that it would reach 900 km/h but in BeamNG I reached a wheelspeed of over 800 km/h and an airspeed of over 750 km/h.
@@bengaminghaterihatehim8290 I tried a lot to make the engine more powerful. It's reaching 16k hp at a little over 9000 rpm which is possible because I'm using highest quality, harmonic damper with max balancing weight, dual overhead valves with 5 valves, max bore and a stroke a little over 70 (I think it was 123 bore and 73,2 stroke) and I try everything to get torque as late as possible because then I can reach more HP with the same torque. I finally got Automation during the summer sale, and one thing I've learned is that you need a bit of restriction with the exhaust on turbo engines. Back pressure or scavenging, or whatever all those terms people keep throwing around. Same with the Intercooler, it doesn't need to be max. People have already said in your 10k HP video this year that it's the VVL RPM that makes your engines have that crazy line at the end with all that peak power. I haven't tested that myself, but my most powerful engine so far (that works and that I have in a car) is 3500kW on the dot, which was my target. 24:20 and wow, I was typing during the video, and that transmission graph is comical
Great vid as usual man! i think going with lower stroke is actually better in this case, as what’s breaking the engine is piston max torque and by revving higher we get more hp with same torque (theoretically 😂)
I may have to give it ago. I make a lot of cars, I tend to go for good handling cars over trying power, so could be fun. If I make a video I will be sure to give you a a=tag
If you're hitting overrev limits on your engine, just reduce the stroke. I pretty much followed your design but destroked it to like 20L and it let the conrod spin up to like 7k rpm. I got 10,500 hp with a natural power curve, hit torque limits on parts (they were way lower than on your version). 53psi of boost or smth
I have a v16 that makes 12,000 hp with a useable, not glitchy power curve. Unlike this, the game is not broken to achieve the power. The turbo does overheat (but doesn’t fail) in beamng. I was able to achieve this with a quad turbo v16 but configured very differently. High stroke is terrible for high power in automation IME. I found stress from high torque was the biggest problem in max hp engines. By maxing out the bore and minimizing stroke (below a certain point there are no increases to torque capacity of the internals) I was able to raise torque capacity while lowering the torque output. To gain back the power the engine will need to rev a bit higher. Smaller stroke allows the engine to rev higher to make the power lost from smaller displacement. Maxed out balancing mass and harmonic dampers etc allows the engine to rev higher as well. My v16 has maxed out 122-3mm bore and is around 11L iirc. DOHC, 5 valves per cylinder. Nitro, 50 ish psi, maxed out camshaft. Lots of issues with the turbos failing, this is the tricky part for me. Typically the higher tech the turbo setup, the less robust it is. The car weighs well over 4000lbs and I’ve managed a 5.465 1/4 mile in beam around 290mph. Grip is a massive issue, it does a burnout down the whole track. Moving the engine back too much just causes it to wheelie. Frustratingly, I have a similar car with a 5,000 hp v8 that will do a 5.6 1/4 mile. It’s over 1,000 lbs lighter and short tracks way better. If grip can be solved I believe the v16 car could go deep into the 4’s
I would imagine your limiting factor on the conrods is the piston speed, which would mean you need a shorter stroke. I have yet to pick up Automation for myself, but if they're really trying to replicate IRL engine physics, pistons have a top speed beyond which the force of the piston changing direction will quickly cause the engine to tear itself apart. A shorter stroke should allow you to reach higher RPM, which would improve horsepower (and reliability). Also, given that the limiting factor for power here seems to be the strength of internal components, it might be better off naturally aspirated. If top fuel dragsters can make over 10k horsepower with a naturally aspirated 8.2L V8 running on nitro, I bet you could get even more than that with a 16.4L V16 running on Nitro... Although to be fair, top fuel dragsters aren't exactly known for their reliability
Through my testing I found that forged heavy conrods can actually handle far more torque than titanium can, even though the in game graphs would have you believe otherwise
12,000 Hp engines exist so not sure why you need to glitch the game to accomplish this?? And FYI those 12k hp engines are only good for 1/4 to 1/2 mile
On real engines, If you want to get the most Power despite anything else, you have to remember that power is torque times RPM, this means that to get the most power you have to go high RPM. In order to do so, you should use high bore with low stroke, so that the pistons wont get shuch a high medium velocity (for real passenger car engines shouldn`t go over 120m/s - competition can go higher). you will loose some torque at low revs, but who cares when you are making an engine to have high power at high revs
