There are many factors in treating carpal tunnel syndrome naturally. One plan I discovered that successfully combines these is the Dariks pain destroyer (google it if you're interested) it's the most useful blueprint that I have ever seen. look at the super information .
After watching your video, I raised my chair up a few inches. Now my arm is nearly in line with the table and my wrist does not even touch! This is huge! Thank you for the sound advice!
This video was literally all I needed to be able to immediately relieve the pain I was getting on the pinky side of my hand whenever I tried to use my "ergonomic" mouse. I still have a lot of habit-breaking to do, but the simple act of lifting my pisiform bone off of the desk has made it so much easier to do my job!
As a gamer who started getting Ulnar pains, this video was EXACTLY what i needed find. Short, straight to the point, no messing, awesome advice that really works! Thank you!
I just discovered this video, and found it helpful for adjusting my ergonomics. Thank you for the video - Straight and to the point, still relevant 4 years later.
i just started getting wrist pain and was looking for suggestions and this 8 year old video shows up! I love professional healthcare providers that understand something is important to people and offer methods harm reduction methods.
Steve, One of the most professional explaining, even if I am not a gamer, just a beatmaker, and editing a lot on my computer, this was very useful. Thank you.
Follow his advice. I've been using my mouse in a non-ergonomic way for years (not gaming, but for work and social media) and I've developed carpal tunnel syndrome in both my hands. Went under rehab twice and took medicines but the pain didn't go away. Now I invested in a good vertical mouse and planning on upgrading my mechanical keyboard to an alice layout. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome may not seem so serious but when it's there, it's always there and it's very annoying especially that we use our hands in our daily lives.
Thank you so much for this! I was looking for an ergonomic mouse to minimise any repetive strain injury on my fingers while editing but stumbled across this video. I immediately raised my chair so that my arm was back in line with my desk. Grabbed a rolled up tshirt to use under my wrist and already I'm way more comfortable at my desk. Thank you Steve!
I already knew about the proper form but after getting new chair never bothered to set up to proper height for wrist comfort. Wow did not expect the pain to be so severe, fixed the height right after being reminded by this video
This video has been extremely helpful, I didn't know pressing on that rounded bone caused wrist pain, as I have been doing it recently and it was hurting because I was doing such a harmful thing to my wrist.
Great explantation. I was starting to get some wrist pain after long gaming sessions and wondering why. From now on I'm gong to sit higher, was sitting way to low and putting pressure on the wrong place... Thanks!
Excellent, straight forward and informative video! Now I know the reason for the swelling/protruding bone (pisiform) on my right wrist. Pretty painful. I just hope it heals.
you probably won't see this but... THANK YOU this has been much more informative than my doctor was, or any of the other videos I've seen. this is exactly the problem I've had and I never knew height could be the proper solution THANK YOU
I was looking for an instructional video about the correct usage of a mouse pad (with memory foam, in my case) and I found this video. Excellent explanation, good advices and very good examples. Thank you very much!
Thank you so much!! This actually helped 100%! I didn't have a wrist pad so i just used a folded up shirt and it worked perfectly. 0 wrist pain, even after hours of gaming
A bit of advice that helps me sometimes: Lower your mouse sensitivity. This will cause you to move your mouse from the shoulder instead of using the wrist.
rick now its kicking my ass cause I never trained these muscles so im experiencing more forearm fatigue, but honestly taking the breaks offered by that feels nice
thank you for this, I was having pain in my pinky figure and down through the hand. being able to identify what was causing it has helped a lot (i knew it was due to using the computer but not exactly i was doing with my hand to cause the pain)
@@aerose5868 That's unfortunate to hear. Following what he said in the video is essentially what I have done. 1. I found a chair and desk combo that allowed me to comfortably line the arm rests up with the top of the desk so that when I am sitting my elbows are already level with the desk. Now this is not always possible as it can be quite expensive/difficult. but the next too should be for basically anyone. 2. it sounds a little funny but he is totally right when he says to sit up in your chair, its a bit uncomfortable at first but it does raise up your arms and allows you to get parallel with the surface of the desk alleviating the stress on your wrist. 3. I bought wrist rests for both my keyboard and mouse (similar to the gel one he has for his mouse but not a combined one with the mouse pad just separate ones). This is something I would definitely recommend, you can pick up a cheap one for as low as even 5 dollars (I got a set for 15 dollars) and they definitely help (I also gifted some to my father who doesn't game but spends long hours at the computer working and he has noticed a difference as well.) A bean bag as he said also works. Hope this helps with your pain, I know for me at least it was a total well... pain (I'll see myself out).
@@zacle2440 thank you for the quick response on a 2 year old comment. Ill run you through my current situation. Im already sitting up in my chair and my wrist is hardly even touching my mousepad. my desk does seem a little high but i dont feel thats a major problem as i play with my whole forearm on the desk(therefore almost 0 strain on wrist). at this point just trying to find a cause of the issue to see if its even viable to take out of my game. as im currently playing at a semi pro level where any small change to my setup (or at least what im comfortable with) can take me out of competing for weeks
@@aerose5868 Your welcome. Yeah that is a rough situation for sure then. I'm no doctor and therefore can't give you to much more help. Especially when you are competing it makes it even more of a sensitive issue. For me, the issue was as Steve described of the pressure being applied on that little bone in the bottom left of your palm (looking at your palm of the right hand as that is the hand that I had the pain in). which appeared to cause irritation of the nerve. I never went to a doctor to get it looked at as, changing my setup and adding the wrist rests fixed it for me. Overall I would attribute the biggest helper to me to being the wrist rests. the softer material appears to help me. and from what I remember (though this was almost two years ago so grain of salt) adding the wrist rest didn't appear to mess me up to much in my gaming. BUT I also do NOT play any game at a truly professional competitive level. so it could very well be different for you. I hope you find a fix for your own hand issues and good luck with competing! maybe I'll see your name in one of the tournaments I sometimes tune into.
Thank you so much! I just got my first pc a couple days ago and I learned I was hurting in my palm right where you said! I will definitely try these tips!
I really wish I would have seen this video or knew about this sooner. Definitely will be changing my habits and getting a product so that I do not screw my wrist up further. Thank you.
thanks this video has helped me out. i like the way you explained everything simply and even giving expansive yet short and concise explenation of everything related to the both the wrist and the dangers ensuing from improper mouse handling
Dude thank you soooooo much for this explanation I was talking to an online buddy over the past 30 minutes and was like telling him how my wrist was all red and swollen because I had just got my mouse and keyboard for xbox gaming and he was talking me if it was carpal tunnel and i was like I dont know and he sent me this video... thanks for the advice on not straining it
I really enjoyed this and just bought mouse and keyboard wrist rests and despite not being a gamer I type all day as well as using a mouse and noticed I am starting to feel pain along the little finger side of right wrist and yes I am right handed. Hopefully the rests have not come to late. I type a lot of e-mails etc so I think this has something to do with the issue but just sitting watching TV now I am starting to feel the pain so not just limited to typing an e-mail which is slightly annoying.
More studies are showing that the mouse rest pads are actually not good for you. The wrist and forearm are designed to leave a space under your wrist when in rest (you'll notice if you just rest your arm on a surface, your wrist shouldn't be touching the surface, but rather your palm!) so that the base of your palm is supporting your hand. It's better to hover and use your elbow as the pivot, and make sure you have a large enough mouse that you can rest your palm on comfortably.
Thanks for the comment. What studies have you been reading? You are correct the wrist rest can be a problem but so can wrist extension and compression. There is a balance between the two.
By extension and compression, do you mean whenever it's not neutral(straight with your forearm)? You can rest your hand/wrist without doing that, keeping it completely neutral on a desk. a big enough mouse allows your palm to rest on it without a crooked wrist.
Lol I lifted my hand off my desk to look at the bone you mentioned and that part of my hand is bright red from how much pressure I put on it. No wonder I have wrist pain
I have no issue with my wrist but with exactly what you mentioned regarding the corner of pinky finger (dont know what you call this typical place), had been looking for a solution. Thank you sooo much for pointing out this bean bag thing. I might fill my socks with rice and place them under wrist which hopefully do the trick. Wonder if you could help with back pain although I still have back cushion on my chair..... But thank you very much for sharing such a great video.
The nerve at the corner of your wrist is called the Ulnar nerve. Many people will experience numbness in the ring and little finger because they compress this nerve when using the mouse. Please send me a picture of you in your workstation and I can give you some advice on how to set up your workstation. Please sent the picture to sitesolutions@hotmail.com Thanks, Steve

you don't wanna lock down your wrist. it puts all the stress from sideways movement on just it. for gaming you also loose resolution by not having both arm and hand movement available.
I've been dealing with very painful burning in my wrist, forearm and hand. I game a lot using keyboard and mouse on PC. I've just raised my seat height a little and will get a bean bag.
I would like to set my desk low but I'm using a laptop so that makes it harder cuz having your screen too low looks weird. Atleast I know that I should make sure to not put pressure on those bones so that's good
Recently started experiencing this. Had a bruise on my wrist for about a month or so & started feeling tingling in my hands lately from gaming. Now i’m just scared waiting on my wrist rest to come in
Hi friend, check my elbow is above the keyboard, the wrist is aligned with the knuckles and I do not feel any carpal tunnel pain, now I bought a logitech trackball mx ergo mouse, I do not know if I should apply the same position of the keyboard, that is, the elbow is above the mouse, the forearm slightly raised along with the wrist, the mouse I bought has a traditional position and the position to hold at a 20 degree angle, I would like to clarify my doubts or be in the position of the mouse at a 20 degree angle, forearm and elbow and wrist holding the mouse, glued to the table or as I mentioned above.
Very informative video, just what I was looking for. Question: If I practice to hold my wrist off the desk, will I eventually regain strength back in my wrist?
I have a bump on that bone you mentioned and I get numbness going into the finger you said as well. I bought a gaming keyboard and it started after that
I made my contact point with the desk more towards my elbow, and I can safely say that that isn't any better because now my ulnar nerve is pissed from my fingers to my elbow.
The problem I was having was not pain, it was my wrist making it hard to move my mouse because of drag, I will try putting my chair higher. This was a good video
i'm glad i found this video. my left wrist has been feeling weird lately. i have used gel pads from the start when i built my gaming computer. my left gel pad is a bit of the stiffer side. i am going to look for the bean bag one. if the wrist can be affected should we be trying to avoid placing it on the pad? maybe place more of the forearm or maybe further away to actually be resting on the palm? and lastly, how will i know if i'm in danger of carpal tunnel syndrome?
so i have fixed my position a while ago. bought a new mouse, too (but i had to really get used to it. my previous mouse was pretty flat my new logitech G703 lightspeed is not. maybe i hold it wrong but it took really long to get used to. and now i think im used to it as it doesnt hurt per se, but my hand, wrist end underarm get really tired. how do i avoid that? do i need to switch to yet another mouse? this thing cost 80 euros >.< maybe im not holding it properly. idk. my previous mouse really gave me pain in my fingers because the shell didnt cover the whole sides, making my fingers scrape against edges and causing pain.
I think you should just take a rest from time to time... The mouse is good though. The ideal would be to rest every 20-25 minutes, it really helps a lot.. Even with a great equipment it's hard for your body to maintain the same position for a long period of time, so give yourself a break, go drink some water, walk in small circles in your room, do some squats, move your arms... Get your blood flowing. I had some serious shoulder and wrist pain months ago, but ever since i sarted taking breaks and exercising my posterior shoulder muscles, all the pain is gone. Hope you are doing great too.
@@mohammedaymane9246 Hmm I'll try to do that every 20 minutes then. I now take breaks usually every hour, sometimes 1,5 hour. Though with the current heat I touch my pc as little as possible as it just generates more heat and my living room is a sauna... but yeah ill try more oftne then, didnt know about the 20 minutes.
Sometimes my hand hurts but at the top center of the wrist. My guess is that my mouse is too small and I have to _retract_ my middle finger too much to use the scrolling wheel. I've tried to grab my mouse under the fingers instead of under my hand, but there's too much muscle memory by now.
yeah, everyone is talking about carpal tunnel but what if frequent ulnar deviation movements have caused tendinitis in the ulnar region of both wrists? I have been looking for over a year, no one seems to care or know...
I spend a massive amount of time at the pc and it never occurred to me before, but it seems my pull out keyboard tray has probably saved my wrist since the weight rests on my forearm.
so i have a question. My right wrist hurts, even though I use my left hand for mousing at work (8 hrs/weekday) and my right one at home (2 -3 hours/weekday). I did not have an issue with pain until recently. It feels like my wrist is... tired, in a way. No numbness, nothing in my hand itself, but really just the wrist feels hot and uncomfortable after using it even for like 10 minutes. I do try to keep my arm up with the chair's big arm rests that I have and I always adjust my chair, so that I don't have to reach up. I try to straighten it out and if that doesnt align nicely, I try to lift my elbow a liiiitle higher, so that i dont have to put any force in, myself. I try to keep my mouse close to the keyboard because I know people tend to mouse too far to one side, causing a different unnatural strain. And still it feels like it's tired and it's warm. After working all day I don't feel it. I get hom,e use my right hand for a few minutes and it starts again so quickly. And the problem is my mouse at home cant reach far enough to be used in my left hand. Do you have any idea what this problem could be caused by and how to eliminate it?
my hand is fucked just because of same mistake i made for years, first i thought its due to over writing, maybe phone usage, now i cant even write properly for 5 minutes, cant play games for half an hour or do the dishes without cramps and ache in my wrist and forearm pain...thanks for insight
Carpel tunnel will be an epidemic if not already we definitely need to increase education about ergonomics and best practices for computer use. the younger generations will only use it more and more. What is a good height for sitting and standing at a computer? I have a adjustable motorized desk and should I get a pad to stand on? Any recommendations for either standing pad or mouse pad? You should definitely use an amazon affiliate link!
My wrist hurts at the top. When i wanna do pushup it's impossible from the pain. That stupid looking ergonomic mouse that you grab from the side would probably help my case because if i put my hand sideways it immediately feels better on the desk.
I should've watched this video a long long time ago. I got it a few times before when I use to game super heavily and just shrugged it off like the idiot teenager I was. I stopped gaming for a bit but now im back and Recently my wrist started hurting super bad cause I would sit too low not realizing it was that until this video. My wrist on the pinky side is a darker color than my skin and reddish and irratated. Good video, reason im here is because I was looking for the best wrist pad for gaming lol.

Recently started experiencing this. Had a bruise on my wrist for about a month or so & started feeling tingling in my hands lately from gaming. Now i’m just scared waiting on my wrist rest to come in
i plan to wear a wrist support that used for sport due to hard to find local shop that sell wrist bad or wrist pad
Omg, this is the exact problem I was having! Thank you for helping me!
Thank you for taking the time to make this.
Thanks, I play games alot and I have a red wrist, this helped me
thanks so much i m 13 and my worst fear is carpal tunnel
Hey could you maybe go over the same, but with keyboards? (like for gaming)
I have a lot of pain in the thumb, in my left hand (the keyboard)
@@torugho im just starting to have the same after 25 years of gaming. Particularly bad last night.
Thank you so much, sir^&^
That's my wrist pain and palm pressure,!
The problem I was having was not pain, it was my wrist making it hard to move my mouse because of drag, I will try putting my chair higher. This was a good video
i'm glad i found this video. my left wrist has been feeling weird lately. i have used gel pads from the start when i built my gaming computer. my left gel pad is a bit of the stiffer side. i am going to look for the bean bag one. if the wrist can be affected should we be trying to avoid placing it on the pad? maybe place more of the forearm or maybe further away to actually be resting on the palm? and lastly, how will i know if i'm in danger of carpal tunnel syndrome?
so i have fixed my position a while ago. bought a new mouse, too (but i had to really get used to it. my previous mouse was pretty flat my new logitech G703 lightspeed is not. maybe i hold it wrong but it took really long to get used to. and now i think im used to it as it doesnt hurt per se, but my hand, wrist end underarm get really tired. how do i avoid that? do i need to switch to yet another mouse? this thing cost 80 euros >.<
maybe im not holding it properly. idk. my previous mouse really gave me pain in my fingers because the shell didnt cover the whole sides, making my fingers scrape against edges and causing pain.
I am feeling same pain. Gentleman told exact reason.
yeah, everyone is talking about carpal tunnel but what if frequent ulnar deviation movements have caused tendinitis in the ulnar region of both wrists? I have been looking for over a year, no one seems to care or know...
Thank you for making this amazing video with such amazing information. It's really helpful sir. Thank you
I spend a massive amount of time at the pc and it never occurred to me before, but it seems my pull out keyboard tray has probably saved my wrist since the weight rests on my forearm.
Great video. Having these issues now
so i have a question.
Hi , i think i am dealing with the same issue....did you found out what the issue was?
Maybe your wrist feels tired because... it's tired?
This was a really informative video. Thanks! 😁
my hand is fucked just because of same mistake i made for years, first i thought its due to over writing, maybe phone usage, now i cant even write properly for 5 minutes, cant play games for half an hour or do the dishes without cramps and ache in my wrist and forearm pain...thanks for insight
"so when you're gaming" instant like
Carpel tunnel will be an epidemic if not already we definitely need to increase education about ergonomics and best practices for computer use. the younger generations will only use it more and more. What is a good height for sitting and standing at a computer? I have a adjustable motorized desk and should I get a pad to stand on? Any recommendations for either standing pad or mouse pad? You should definitely use an amazon affiliate link!
I really appreciate it. Thank you !!
Very important and valuable information, thank you!
I needed this,
I have been struggling with mouse in osu cuz my wrist hurts lmao
