That Grammer comment is BS. As a former "word nerd," I can confidently say spatter and splatter are both grammatically correct! In the art world, I think we use "splatter" b/c we tend to use bigger blobs, but in the scientific community, it's more often "spatter" (like small spotting). Now on to the real topic...I love your art work! 😍
You are correct, both words have and are still in use. It wasn’t that long ago when my Mom had informed me that a spatter of rain had come over their home and garden last Sunday morning. It is my understanding that geographical areas could heavily influence not only their dialect, but their choice of certain words too. For instance, different parts of the U.S. say, ‘soda’ whereas other areas predominantly say, ‘pop’. Neither of them are wrong, heck, there are areas where they even say, ‘soda pop’ as if it were one word. Pretty cool, eh? Gotta love our word nerds, there’s always a possibility we will learn something from them, so thank you. 💐. And I am by no means a word nerd, I just got lucky and by chance knew this one, especially as it were a part of our language in our home. Be well and wishing one and all an amazing and happy day.
Regardless of what is "grammatically" correct, it's splatters because that's what we say it is! 🙂 And it's the happy fingers dance for the same reason! Love it!
I'm a big word nerd, myself, and "have to" try to correct people's mis-pronunciation of guillotine from time to time, and "splatter" is just fine!! And the prints are wonderful. I need to get my gel plates out...as soon as I finish a few projects currently occupying my time. 😁
So you know me, I had to look it up: "To spatter means to scatter small particles of a substance. A spatter is the pattern of drops that result from spattering. To splatter means to scatter large particles of a substance." I just prefer the word splatter, myself! lol! You always do a great job with your inks on your gel press and I definitely have brayer envy - I need a big one too!
Thank you so much Tiffany, I really really enjoyed watching you create those awesome prints so beautiful too. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤❤
I love the way you break this down into easy, doable steps. I have not had much luck with using the oxides for gel print but since I am snowed in for the weekend, I am going to drag out my gel plate and play with it again.
I just adore your videos and how you explain each step so clearly. I must admit I’ve done a lot with my gel press off and on but I haven’t tried the oxide ink pads like you demonstrated. I’m sure going to try this technique but I really want a 6” size brayer as well so less lines. You’re such a great teacher and lovely person. 😊
I’m very inspired and happy to see something other than acrylic paint used on the gel plate. This idea of several layers with one ink application but multiple patterns is absolutely brilliant. I heading to my plate ASAP and doing something like this. Thanks for sharing 🤗
I love your videos Tiffany. Thank you for all the work that goes into making and editing them. I just might have to get out my gel plates and have a play.
Spatter and splatter can both function as a noun or a verb. A spatter is a small splash. A splatter is a large one. Spatter and splatter both mean to splash liquid on something. In general, save spatter for splashes with small drops of liquid, and splatter for splashes with a lot of liquid.
I got a heart tin of See's Candies for Valentine's Day and it came with bubble wrap on top of the paper before the layer of candy. I'll be saving it for my gel printing! I do have to say that if I can't stick with you for 5 minutes, there's something seriously wrong with me. Spatter/splatter. I didn't really know, don't really want to care, except I'd like to perfect my technique for it because mine is kinda sucky! (I used to be the word police for my job BUT I'm retired now so I'm doing my best to hang up that hat.)
Every print you made is beautiful and I appreciate your very clear and concise steps. I do have a question: I noticed when you removed your leaf stencil it had ink on it. Can/do you use that to make another print? Thank you for teaching us this process.🌷🇨🇦🌷
Love the print and the colors are amazing! I wasn’t sure how they would blend but it turned out so well. Going to have to try it. As for spatters comment, that person has an awful high and mighty opinion of themselves that they need to correct someone’s grammar each day. Quite hypocritical if you ask me as they said vids not videos. I’m definitly team splatter as that’s what everyone says, I’ve never heard spatter. I hope you don’t listen to people like that, the haters and critical people need to go find something else to do. You keep on creating and call it whatever you want! ❤
Do you ever turn the stencil over onto a clean sheet of paper and try to get a print from that? Or stamp the stamps to get the reverse pattern? If so, what are the results like?
Hi Tiffany, I haven’t used my gel plate for about 5 years. I pulled it out to use but the paint didn’t roll out smoothly. I am wondering if I need to recondition my plate. It is 8 1/2 X 11. Any suggestion?
splatters here Lol. Like really who cares, spatters/splatters, small/big drops. It’s all about enjoying the process and playing with your products. Tiff, splatter away 😂 thank you for sharing your techniques and being your awesome self!!! 🤗❤️
Hello. I don't know who I saw this from but I remember seeing someone on youtube that would put the same size paper that she was using for the pulling underneath the gell plate so she would know where to put the top page. just a hint. thanks for sharing
This was great! (And inspiring me to finally use my gel press for the first time!) Question, the stencils you showed at the beginning of the video (geometric and circles), did you make them? Or where can I buy them because I NEED them!! TIA!
@@KerenTamir I think they are both correct, spatter is small particles, splatter is larger particles, and sometimes we use both small and large, but your right! you actually cares right! its all fun!!
I LOVE my gelli plate and make lots of prints whenever I get it out! Ironically though, I always use paints! I'll have to get my inks out next time and try those. Sidenote: why are your stencils so clean? LOL!
I love using paints on my plate but I’m impatient and don’t like to wait for the paint to dry lol! Some stencils I only use with inks. That’s probably why these are clean. LOL. Most of my stencils have paint, paste and who knows what else on them 😂
too much talking
There are 14 steps! I always strive to make my videos the perfect length, focusing on keeping them as concise or detailed as necessary!

The Grammer police are out in force. The spatter/splatter comment is being seen on a few channels I watch. Some comments are quite harsh.

Thank you for sharing this ,i have a Gel plate and did not know how to use it now I know
Glad it was helpful! I have some other videos on my Chanel that could help as well.
I need a bigger brayer!!! Great video, thank you for sharing!

Wow, you get so many prints out of it. Thank you.
You’re welcome 😊
I’ve never really felt like gel plates was something I wanted until I saw your videos using oxide inks on them, now I really want one!
Watch out for the addiction! It’s fun.
'Happy finger dancing!' I love that! Thanks for an informative video - those prints are gorgeous!
You are so welcome!

When I saw the comment I immediately googled too! 😂 I just like splatter better. LOL! Thank you Ardyth!! ❤️
Love these 'new to me' techniques, I haven't tried using the inks on my plate yet, thank you for new ideas.
Thank you so much Tiffany, I really really enjoyed watching you create those awesome prints so beautiful too. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much Tiffany. Stamping on to take color off gives an awesome look, I will try this techinque with my Oxide Inks 👏💙
You are so welcome!
Love the HaPpY finger dancing!! You make such amazing prints… pure JOY!!! 🤗 I’m team splatters… a technique that adds so much to our cards! ✨
Thanks for breaking it down. I'm late to this dance but new year and new goal to use my plate. Thanks Tiffany
I love your craft room and thank you for sharing that your crafty space is always changing as my space is constantly evolving as well 😊
You are so welcome!
Thanks for the tips! Will give them a try❤
I am getting my first new gel press today....can't wait to get started. Thanks so much for all your info. 🌿💞🌿
This is a valuable and encouraging video to me. I will play this afternoon with my gel plate. Thank you very much, Tiffany!

This is greatly inspiring. Now I really want to try this new (to me) media. Thank you!
I haven't printed in at least 2 years. I need to get my plates out and try this! Thanks so much for sharing this ❤️!
hahaha amazing video
Thank you!! 😁
I love your videos Tiffany. Thank you for all the work that goes into making and editing them. I just might have to get out my gel plates and have a play.
I love this technique 👍👍
Fantastic demo! Now I’m not afraid to try it! Thank you❤️❤️
You’re welcome 😊
I need to get started. I just bought the gelliplate.
Wonderful video! I can't wait to try. Do you seal your prints to prevent smudges? Thanks!

Oy with the word police 🙄 I use "splatter". I'll be revisiting this video a lot tonight as I attempt to create some tags 🤞 Thanks Tiffany 💕
What brand is the leaf and geometric shape stencils?
splatters here Lol. Like really who cares, spatters/splatters, small/big drops. It’s all about enjoying the process and playing with your products. Tiff, splatter away 😂 thank you for sharing your techniques and being your awesome self!!! 🤗❤️

This is gorgeous, have you ever thought of selling them as digital prints?? I am very interested!

Question, the stencils you showed at the beginning of the video (geometric and circles), did you make them? Or where can I buy them because I NEED them!! TIA!
I will have to get back to you on the brands.
Thank you sooo very much!! I tried searching for them, but nothing popped up!
@@ajc0076Just got the kids off to school. Now I am going to dig them up. :) stay tuned.
I tried to find the ones I could. Sadly some are discontinued but maybe it will give you an idea so you can search another brand. ldli.co/e/6lng0yx
Omg thank you so very much!! I truly appreciate it!! Time to start shopping! Lol
Is it splatters? or spatters?
Be sure to grab your free PDF - tiffanymsolorio.podia.com/perfectly-layered-gel-prints
The same lady mentioned this to me. Lol. Great videos. I always say splatters but when I looked it up spatters is the right word lol but who cares
@@KerenTamir I think they are both correct, spatter is small particles, splatter is larger particles, and sometimes we use both small and large, but your right! you actually cares right! its all fun!!
Can you use a regular silicone pad instead of buying a gel plate?
Yes and no..... You won't get the same exact look but it works. I have used the back of a large clear stamp before. I hope this helps.

Is that the same paper each time or a new piece of paper each pull?
It's the same paper each time. It builds up the colors and layers of texture.
Splatter for me... Spatter was used way too often by a forensic crime scene friend!

I can't download the PDF. How do you get it? (I filled out my name and email as required). Thanks in advance!
I sent it over.
