I love your creative techniques but I wish you would show your results as you pull them off the press. Not sure if it is deliberate but your papers are always out of frame. The bits I could see are lovely! Thank you.
Wow a lot of ideas in just a few minutes. Shows how versatile the plate printing can be. Thank you for sharing your tools, talent, time and inspiration with all of us.
A great demonstration done clearly and very helpful. Thank you for sharing with us. I hope you pay absolutely no attention to the grumpy gusses who can't understand why you didn't do it their way.
I have never watched this before as I moved away from my mixed media art to more refined drawing and had forgotten how fun this is. I made backgrounds using collage and lots of layers of paints and modeling paste and so on. It became very expensive for me being disabled and unable to work. It's also messy when I'm trying to do this in bed with my service dog next to me who....is... a Husky_Malamute. So you can imagine that a lot of her hair went into my artwork haha. Thus was so fun to watch. A bit sped up, I would have liked to have seen the pages as they came off the press better. But I realize it's sped up and you probably have to be quick so the paint doesn't dry and you can get the most out of it. It's far from a cheap collection you've got there! I do have products from Dina Wakely and Dylusions having began with an accidental giant sketchbook find for sale at Michael's for $6 that turned out to be a craft paper cover dylusions mixed media one with ivory cardstock paper that has a TON of pages and I got my start in that book 10 months ago. It's good for literally everything except watercolor which I have also gravitated to a little bit. Thus was a fantastic video. Now I know how the backgrounds are made for the Dylusions and Dina Wakely ones that I have from a little weekly journal I got from their website. I wish I could afford more Stamos and textiles and stencils. I absolutely theirs. Thank you for showing the inside scoop on how this all comes together. You make it look easy. Maybe one day I will get a gel plate and work on some more backgrounds for my drawings.
Hi Shari, LOVE your art!!! I do however wish you would have shown us the paper after lifted so we could see what it looks like a bit longer.. Maybe perhaps you could add some made into cards at the end of the video. I sure hope you do, the colors and coverage on the gel press was beautiful!
Sharri Carroll - This is lovely. I sometimes find messy and faded looking prints a little disappointing. So your work is refreshing. Really good to see such clear prints with vibrant colours. Thanks for sharing
Great backgrounds! Gel presses are so much fun. I've never understood why it's called mono printing though when you end up getting several prints each time lol but I did look it up, & it makes sense. You only get one of each design.
I've watched many Gel plate you tubes and this was one of the best instructional you tubes for gel plate printing I've watched. You have given lots of useful instructions from the beginning potential methods of printing to the clean up of the gel press when we are done using it for the day. Thanks.
Sorry to be offtopic but does any of you know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb forgot my login password. I appreciate any help you can give me.
@Baker Colton Thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Wow! I've never seen a gel press in action and this video just sold me on the great possibilities it holds for creatively artistic endeavors. Thanks for this demonstration.
I bought a gel plate but have never tried it. I still have some questions about different types of paper that I have seen used, but this has helped a lot on knowing what to do with different elements and my plate. Thanks.
Experiment with different papers to find which you like best, everyone has their favourite. Just don't use photographic paper as it will stick and ruin your plate.
Very beautiful work!! I haven't done any nor have any of the stuff to do any of it! I'm just learning about it today!! It looks so beautiful!! And addictive!! Thank you for the lesson!! You are wonderful!!
I enjoyed your video very much. I bought a gel press and I have yet to try it out. I love the colors you chose for your backgrounds. . Thank you for sharing I will be trying this out now.🥰🥰🥰🐰
Great ideas. I had just watched Dyan's newest video of her technique, which is totally opposite this one. I feel like I learned so much.. and I'm already gelli printer, where mine are different. I keep wanting to demo this printing form for my stamp club members.. so am gathering simple, but elegant techniques. Thank you so much. I feel the confidence to be able to do it now.
Thanks so much for sharing this. Always wanted to know how to get additional uses from the gel press plate. And add to the fact that they are inexpensive as well! Thanks again!
Thanks so much. Finally realizing that the dark tertiary color combos I love may take more than my beginner’s skill. Trying your simple colors that are closer on the color wheel. They worked wonderfully well for you. Beautiful prints!
Many thanks for a great video. I love my gel press, play with it for hours. I have notice that many of the tutorials I have watched, the demonstrator takes the stencil or mask off the plate and puts it to one side, I always use the stencil or mask to make a print on another sheet of paper so as not to waste the paint on the back of the stencil/mask. Xx
Shari, Many thanks for the ideas for Gel Press use! I always need new ideas, and yours are so helpful! Do let us have more at another time. I have a number of stencils now and love being able to use them in new ways with Gel Press!
Shari, I think this was as much fun to watch as it was to play LOL! Can you believe that I bought a gel press about a year ago when it was on sale, but I haven't used it yet....well, you've changed all that! Can wait to get started! TFS Shari
I really, REALLY enjoyed this tutorial.. I have only been using my gel press to lay down colours... this video has been such an eye-opener... Thank you so much for sharing..!! :)
Beautiful!! I had one question, the images you pulled with the tissue paper, were you able to use those for anything? I also love that you just really teach! No small talk or distracting stories!! Thanks!
Hi Shari I just watched you for the first time ever as I had no idea what this gelli printing art was and wanted to know. It is wonderful and I loved your video. You explained everything so well and so quickly too. I have just subscribed. Just as an aside.....Did you know you said "I'm gonna go ahead and" 33 times in the video. Thank you for sharing your art on You tube. It is lovely.
Great techniques Shari. I was just looking at the gel presses yesterday, still on the fence about how much I would use it. This makes it more tempting...LOL
Thanks for the info I have a gel plate but haven’t quite got the techniques down yet but would have been nice if you showed the prints to the camera a little more as you took them off
Thank you so much for this video! I have gone through many of them lately because I would like to try my new gel plate, but all the videos I've seen have kind of enhanced my already present intimidation over it for some strange reason. But I loved your video so much that, for the 1st time, I'm actually excited to try it out. And your techniques, which were so cool & beautiful, have helped to finally give me a starting off point & a few ideas. I can't wait to get home from work now so I can try it out, thank you so much!!
That video was very helpful thank you Sheri. It can be a little bit hard to know where to start using the gel press. I'm going to go and give mine a try now 😊
This was so exciting to watch. I wonder if one can use cardstock for this process? I would love to see some finished projects using the designs Shari made. I really want to get a gel press and some paints now!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE your tutorial !!.. It is the VERY best one on Utube, you've given me a whole new prospects piv even on using my gel plates (2 which I've NEVER use) I have a new LOVE & respect for it!.. T4S 🙏🏽😘👍🏽🎈
I loved your techniques and narration: thank you! We would have loved it if the finished prints had been held more in the center of the frame (I viewed with my device both portrait and landscape).
Very cool technique! I'll look into trying this. I have some paper glazes that I've used through a stencil, but I'm sure they could be used for this too.
I love your creative techniques but I wish you would show your results as you pull them off the press. Not sure if it is deliberate but your papers are always out of frame. The bits I could see are lovely! Thank you.
Thx so much!
Wonderful video!!! Watched many gel press videos but found yours to be easy, concise and informative. Thank u.

Cool looks and you are soooooo neat while working!!! Thanks for sharing!
Paper Hugs,

Very cool technique! I'll look into trying this. I have some paper glazes that I've used through a stencil, but I'm sure they could be used for this too.
Totally!
You can also use ink … works nicely!
This is something new for me. Cool!
Hi Shari; I'm presuming that you are using cardstock as your paper; can photo paper be used?
