So, I fell asleep watching this last night (to be clear, NOT that it was boring, I was just that tired!!) Anyway, I must have watched multiple videos as I heard your voice over the course of a few hours I would guess. In my mind/not so coherent state, I was crafting with you. When I woke up enough to be coherent, I turned my phone off and shoved it across the bed, super annoyed I wasn't actually crafting with THE Jennifer McGuire!!! Like mad annoyed! I rolled over in a huff and went back to sleep. Lol!! I woke up this morning and completely remembered my crafting adventures with you. Crazy stuff we do in our sleep. Definitely a first for me. Thanks for being such an inspiration and making us feel like we truly are your crafting friends.
You help me when you do your videos. My health challenges prevent me from even being able to make cards to help me cope; but, watching you and listening to your voice helps me. Thank you and God Bless You!!
OMG Jennifer WOW. This was amazing to watching you create with your gel plate and to see all of your Brilliant i creations come to life was breathtaking!! I’m so in awe!! I JUST got my 1st gel plate and it’s 5 x 7 and to find your video was so cool and I learned so much and gosh what you came up with using your goodies are Ingenious and again so in awe!!! Thanks for your Outstanding Tutorial and sharing your Tremendously Terrific Tips, Tricks & Techniques!! YOU ask ROCK!!!!! Joan Smith
The snipping of the dies was the best tip I've ever been given. I fold a cloth over it when i cut them apart, i thought it was just me that had them fly all over the place. Glad I'm not alone
Thank you so much for the tip about cutting dies apart. I usually try to cut mine inside a deep box or the trash can but that doesn't always work. While I don't have children around I do have pets and I worry about them getting the metal bit in their paws. This is a fabulous idea! Thank you for sharing!
OMG! For the new year, I've vowed to try and use products in my stash and put buying new products on hold. Getting a gel press will be the prefect way for me to do something new without purchasing a bunch of new stamps, dies, and stencils. I have sooooo many stamps, dies and stencils I have never used, which is why I'm putting my purchasing on hold. (If I see something new I want, I'll put it on a Wish List and ask my family to buy them...LOL.) Thank you Jennifer for introducing me to the gel press. Since watching your video, I've watched others using Dylusions paint I have in my stash. I'm inspired!!!!
I love all your techniques. My 3 1/2 year old granddaughter comes over and makes cards with me. She loves the gel plate and makes the cutest cards. I’m certainly going to let her make the snow flakes backgrounds. Bless You!
Stunning, I love your creativity. Your videos are always so professional and it’s a pleasure to watch. Your instructions are easy to follow and I find you so elegant. Thank you, and wishing you peace of mind in these times. Bless you 😍🥰
Thank you so much for giving new ways to use the gel press. I also love that you only did the background techniques for the entire video. Helps me keep focused.
Ooooh, can't wait to see the next part of this series. I bought a gel press after your first video and it is so addictive and therapeutic. So relaxing. I use the teeniest bit of ink and brayer it, then ink sections of paper, overlapping them. So subtle and arty looking. Love it. Thanks as always!
I like to brayer ombre colors onto the gel plate, or sprinkle brusho inks on after the brayered ink...but I never thought of adding die cuts like this. Worlds are colliding! This is fantastic! I love that JM is always branching out and trying new things!
Oh Jenn! You are slowly inspiring me to play with my gel press... You have created beautiful backgrounds but it is such a ‘messy’ process. TFS, stay safe!! 😘✨👍🏾
Good morning :) Listening to your beautiful voice shifted my morning into becoming more calm and positive. Thanks for sharing part of your beautiful heart today ♥ I feel connected to creativity this way 😘
I have only used smooth or silicon items on the gel press to keep from damaging it. I also use foam stamps and rubber stamps. Have plenty of paper ready, the gel press is addicting! Love your snowflakes. Thanks for sharing!
I have enjoyed watching many of your demonstrations/videos using a variety of techniques. You always demonstrate many great ideas! I have a gel press and have not used it. After seeing the many great ways that you have used it, I am impressed once again by your great ideas. Thank you for teaching me how to use it!
I’ve watched so many gel press tutorials and this one, by far, is the best I have seen!!!! I’ve gotta check out your other one now! Thank you for posting!
Very cool. Love the gel press. It’s still on my wish list so I may just have to get myself a Christmas present (who am I kidding, that should read “another present”! Lol!). Thanks Jennifer, love what you create, what you do and I love your kindness.
I bet its interesting to use the dies to cut out after they have been on the press too, for inked die cuts! I don't know how you keep coming up with new idea's but I really appreciate it! 😁
Outstanding! I’ve just ordered a gel press and can’t wait to start doing this. I’ve never seen anyone doing it with inks before - it’s really cool. I love all the different effect you are getting.
AWESOME Jennifer!!! I've been playing around with my gel press too and learned another technique from a different video which was spritzing a little water with the Distress Sprayer after applying the ink and brayer on the gel plate. You get these beautiful water droplets on the background that reminds me a lot of watercolor! So much you can do with the gel press and I'm looking forward to your next video how you turn your backgrounds into cards!
That Simon Says Stamp engraved feather die is out of stock. Waiting patiently for the die to come back so I can make that lovely card. Thanks for sharing Jennifer!
Absolutely loved the different backgrounds you got with the gel press..would never have thought to put die cuts to get that effect. You are so creative Jennifer and I learn so much from your videos! Thank you for sharing!
I have come to recently get over my intimidation of my gel plate and have LOVED experimenting with it! Thank you for these additional fun ideas. Happy Holidays!
A tip for you. Using the metal cutter -- put a finger over the outside of the cutter - at the end of the piece you are cutting - that will help keep the small piece from flying across the room. I've done this for years as a jeweler. Happy New Year everyone!
You are just amazing and a genius with your ideas and tips. Was watching both this and the video on making backgrounds with gelpress and stencils. Can't wait for more videos. Keep safe!!
I haven't had my press out in a bit, but I want to now. I never thought of using actual dies on it! I gotta say, that scares me, lol. Beautiful results 😍😍😍
It’s fun seeing JM use a gel plate. I’m looking forward to seeing her try alcohol ink. Oh and foiling over prints. I like watching different artists use the same techniques.
Very cool techniques! I absolutely love the ones with the dies - the outlines of the cutting edges are so beautiful! I know for sure that my clumsy hands would mess up if I tried to remove the dies the normal way, so I was thinking about an alternate method that would lift the die right off the gel mat and came up with one: we can leverage the magnetic tools that we have for other activities in crafting (example: the magnetic dish which can hold dies so that they don’t get lost and/or the picker upper tools for hot dies that come out from the foil machines or the Misti bar magnet) and magnetically lift them up... I’ll have to play around and see if it does the trick. ☺️
What a fantastic idea. Seeing the craft pick near the Gelli plate made me nervous. One way to ruin a plate is to nick or gouge it. Knowing me I probably would. I have those telescoping magnet wands from the hardware store. They are great for picking dies up off the floor. Have you ever accidentally thrown a die into your trash bin? Magnetic wands are great for fishing dies out of bins too.
Hi, Jennifer - You are so thorough and I love how you make every bit of ink and paper count. I will check out gel plates. I do already have two brayers. I will be tuning in to see where these beginnings lead. Have a great day and be healthy! Lori S in PA
This video inspired me to go immediately and make backgrounds for cards and collages in my art journal, I love getting more use out of my dies. I bought a Speedball Baren after your last gel press video and this really helps the paper make contact with the ink. Can’t wait for the next video
How great! Fast & playful allowing for lots of creative use of color. I wonder what would happen if you put some Saran on top for added texture. Might try it. Ty for inspiration!
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I learned so much. I will be watching a few more times. A little goes a long way. I just found your channel. ☃️😁💐
I tried this with my old stampin around tools. I was about to sell those bad boys. I came up with some neat backgrounds!! Thank you for sharing! BTW, I love all your work!!
“I hope you have a healthy week.” That’s such a beautiful sentiment. I bought a gel press after watching your first video using it. I think it’s time I break it out and finally use it. 😂
Thank you Jennifer for another informative video. I appreciate all the tips and tricks you always share. You are so generous of your knowledge and time you always put into these videos so many of us look forward to seeing. My one question would be is how do you keep coming up with all your creative cards? What is your inspiration? God bless you, stay safe. Hugs, Lynda
You can use your misti magnet to lift your dies. This should eliminate any smudges they make when removing them. I got my gel press about a month ago and loooove it to create backgrounds.
So, I fell asleep watching this last night (to be clear, NOT that it was boring, I was just that tired!!) Your tip for snipping those wires is great. I am always afraid the lost pieces will end up in my feet. Gorgeous prints.
OMG Jennifer WOW. This was amazing to watching you create with your gel plate and to see all of your Brilliant i creations come to life was breathtaking!! I’m so in awe!! I use the plate from my die cutting machine to anchor my gel plate. This is a fun technique. Thanks!
Thank you so much for giving new ways to use the gel press. I also love that you only did the background techniques for the entire video. Helps me keep focused.

Very cool. Love the gel press. It’s still on my wish list so I may just have to get myself a Christmas present (who am I kidding, that should read “another present”! Lol!). Thanks Jennifer, love what you create, what you do and I love your kindness.
Thank you for sharing so many techniques with us. These are beautiful.
I have lost my art mojo this year but you are single handedly saving my Christmas cards this year! Thank you Jennifer.
I love this, thank you so much for the gel press demos. Love the effects you are creating. Please keep them coming and take care of yourself!
Again thank you Jennifer for such great ideas....I'm looking forward in seeing the cards you made........TFS
I feel as though I’ve been to a really expensive gel press class! This is such an inspiring tutorial! Thank you!
I bet its interesting to use the dies to cut out after they have been on the press too, for inked die cuts! I don't know how you keep coming up with new idea's but I really appreciate it! 😁
Jennifer, didn't know I needed the gel press until this video. Wow!
I was given a gel press but didn't know what to do with it and hadn't taken the time to investigate. So thank you!!!
Outstanding! I’ve just ordered a gel press and can’t wait to start doing this. I’ve never seen anyone doing it with inks before - it’s really cool. I love all the different effect you are getting.

Indeed! Or symply use a bit of tape ;) Push it onto the die and simply lift it off.
Ooohhh, what a great idea!
