Excellent as always. Coach D and Coach Yankello are definitely the best fundamental teachers of boxing on RUclips. Always refer to their videos when teaching my kids or training myself. Always so technically sound and rooted in the fundamentals of boxing. Plus they both have a very easy to digest style of teaching. Pure Gold.

Man love this channel. As a Martial Artist and boxer I use very similar techniques especially the parry. I view as redirecting the force or attacking the balance. Your opponents have to recover after you parry a punch. Especially lunging or over committed punches. In that small amount of time creates counter punching opportunities. Definitely don’t see enough of this in today’s boxing. It’s a art onto its self.

0:12 counter rt hand using parry / block
    Fighting tall opponent
0:30 parry better than slip /roll /mor time counter
1:15 parry:( cut distabce by parry to deflext his shot take him longer to recoil /better then roll or slip )
1:35 parry it with lft hand and go to body
Taking his rt hand to my rt shoulder
    And pulling lft shoulder back
So same time I do that I set my self hook to body
2:38 parry its better than slip becz I turn his body and he cant recoil as fast
3:33 parry rt hand throw own rt hand
I cancome back with hook too becz I parry it not slip it so he have time recoil

And I dont swing parry to hard
6:05 4 great ways to be effective with parries /blocks

the force from the parry has to be just enough to influence the body balance so that he cannot throw that left shot instantly - like in the video said: thats the benefit compared to just slipping.
In other martial arts where are no boxing rules its even important to prevent holding or from getting scratched in the face - or like in the header written when fighting with blades - it’s necessary to control the opponents nearest weapon at all times because no benefit from settting up a devastating attack while getting cut or stabbed at the same time!

We are down in the midwest - DETROIT. The old trainer that sits along and watches us train day in day out is about 93years old. He was good friends with old Bill Miller the trainer of James Toney. He always yells out roll the shoulder counter back with the RH. Use your body, parry the jab, parry the RH. Bob and weave. True old school style of boxing. Truly a lost art form. However it is "ALIVE" where I am from. I now see how JAMES TONEY LEARNED THE SKILL AND FENICE. From these old guys..

Sir if you parry the opponent's right hand and throw your left hook to his body your head is wide open for his left hook (and we all know after you throw a right-hand you're in position for the 3 left hook)to your head you both will be exchanging punches why not Parry his right hand throw a straight right hand that way you will be able to see 👀the left hook 👊coming at you and you can also duck that what do you think?👊

    • @WorldClassBoxingChannel
      @WorldClassBoxingChannel  5 лет назад +1

Your head should be positioned away and lower than his left hook. It's different than exchanging left hooks to the head. Watch this video and the head placement while the left hook to the body is thrown. The opponent has to come a long way to reach you with a left hook. Plus the fact that your left hook to the body is landing ahead of the opponent. You have pushed his momentum away from you by using the parry. We also demonstrate your last comment in this video! We show an example of parrying the right and throwing the right counter.Good work! Thank you very much!

The only problem with this is a good boxer will pick up on what you're doing and feint you into these positions and make you pay! These will only work against a boxer who commits or steps with every punch like your assistant is doing

Ahhh you are correct! That is the problem with every move in a sport like boxing. That's why you don't work the same counters every time. That is the "sweet science!" That is why you learn options, as we are demonstrating and give different looks to your opponent, so that you limit your predictability. Great work here! Thanks for reaching out!

@@WorldClassBoxingChannel Of course, especially as I now know you're an advocate of film study. Mandatory homework imo, although the gyms I've been involved with never recognised this.

The 2 intangibles to what your saying is 1) How well your instict and insight is which we all have an innate threshold for the ability to see things materializing! That’s why World Class Professional boxing is for the gifted few! . 2) It comes down to how well you have honed your craft! When you parry you don’t slap hard at a punch or move your hand to far away from your face. It’s a craft every parry has to be soft and accurate with only moving your hand an 1 inch or 2 in case of a feint so you have the ability to redirect another block or parry. Also the art of parrying and block is the ability to be able to be soft not hard and stiff! If you have the 2 points that I just spoke of at a high level it can be a very effective way to defend and counter. I will talk about the part of the art of parrying in another video!
