The overhand right, arguably the most feared punch in boxing and rightfully so. I prefer ducking under or blocking it. Slipping is simply too risky.

    • @MrRobertFarr
      @MrRobertFarr 2 года назад +6

I prefer not to fight. I did try boxing. But, I don't like getting punched in the head.
I was considering trying to take up boxing for money. I tried boxing instead of swimming.
I prefer just Kata. And, self defence.
I been caught 3 times with the overhand right. Generally. Taken by surprise.
Twice by, an awesome Boxer..once, by a person in a dodgy situation.
Training boxing, seems to lead to Street Fights. Confidence improves. Fitness improves. A person is out in public more.
With the confidence to intervene in, dodgy situations.
Maybe I am thinking more of a Haymaker.

@@MrRobertFarr If you don't want to get hit in the face you could still work on shadowboxing, heavybag and other things cuz its great workout. Maybe even light spar, also in my opinion boxing is best for selfdefanse, no krav maga and other bullshit. Also believe me boxing does not lead to fights, well depends on person more tho but everyone I know who boxes are usualy calm guys.

@@assassin9339 I found any martial arts led to fights. I was always thinking about the money, trying to launch myself as a Boxer.
The last training in a gym, I did was years ago. I was, more active, and intervened when, I saw a bad guy doing something dodgy !
Actually a group of us tried to intervene perhaps.
What a crazy night that was. My memory of that evening is a real jumble ! I like this demonstration stuff, as it really light sparring.
I think the best Martial Art is Mud Wrestling.

@@assassin9339 I am into weight lifting. Light sparring can turn nasty. I am looking for someone to play The Peg Game with actually.

The head in the armpit visualization is awesome! Thanks for that. Many coaches teach it that you just basically duck or duck and step off the side. By advancing into the armpit, you can counter more efficiently. Thank you!

Ight so after incorporating my right hand to block and parry opponents over hand right, what can I say is since your right hand is high and right by your head, ready to fire, u can get it off quicker and use it to counter more as well as block. Opponent started going straight down to the body and left side of the head now. If you’re quick enough and good at reading movements you can block a decent amount of them and get off a quick counter. Overall pretty effective if used right. If you love to jab highly recommend using.

The Dutch Giant buys a certain car , I think it's an Audi because that the only car he comfortably fits in !
I ride around on public transport. But it's difficult to fit in the seats often and, I am only 6'1" .
Plus with democracy, everything is skewed towards the middle .
And yet, we're told to eat healthy. Don't inbreed, don't smoke ! Get plenty of sleep ?
Actually, one Police Officer , I met . Had a theory that kids from a bad home are shorter because they get less sleep .

I did boxing for 1.5 months at my university gym in a group class. During that time I also got some tiquando lessons from one of the students(Black belt) and then joined the UFC gym near my house because I really enjoyed both marshal arts and wanted to try different styles. I've been going to the gym as much as I can (3-5 times a week depending on uni pressure) for 3 months and I can see my self doing this for a long time. One of the coaches at the gym one day told me that I hit hard for my size and my weight (47 KG) is perfect to start MMA and offered to train me for aud 35/hr. My tiquando instructor also told me that I kick hard for my size. The truth is I cant afford to pay for private lessons as I live on less than minimum wage and the gym membership is already a lot of money but I think its worth it. I see the coach training with some other guys sometimes and they all seem to be improving a lot more than I am. My question is how can I improve as fast as the other guys?

The key is how to block an overhand right? if you know how to do that then you have to tool you need. The next question is visual reaction, you need to be able to read it coming, that comes from experience and training. Visualize it happening. Slow it down, respond successfully. Now speed up the situation and respond the same.
