After all these years coaches always say don't bend at the waist. And my defense was lacking. This makes so much more sense. Why have I never been taught this
They don’t like to because when they compete the opponents can study the fighters. Usually no pictures or videos are allowed when sparring unless cleared by the coach.
I used to get screamed at for weaving low like that, but I got framed and lit up when I did it the "right" way. I decided being yelled at was better than getting a headache.
Quawi was like a More technical Version of Frazier, everything he didn’t was tighter & more textbook, glad you mentioned him, he seems forgotten by most
This is a world class boxing lesson!!! Anyone who wants to learn Boxing at a high level should save this video in a playlist and watch it several times to understand the correct technique. Another great lesson, thank you Coach 🙏👍👍🥊🥊💯
Thank you so much! As a taller fighter I was struggling to weave because I’d always get caught on the top of the head. This makes so much sense and is much more feasible. Thank you again, excellent video!
When he said 'feeel' it's more like keeping your eyes around the torso of your opponent without focusing on his gloves. Just like when you're driving, you don't actually wanna put your eyes on the lanes

1:49 some very good point. I use a stiff lead arm (like a long guard) to frame a lot especially on smaller opponents which are rushing into me. Not sure if I would do this weaving in kickboxing though. Danger of getting caught with a knee or highkick seems too great for me. But for boxing great detail.
People who say that "he is not looking at the target" are complete ignorants (and sadly boxing trainers are becoming more & more ignorant about what coach Tom is explaining). We just need to watch Joe Frazier, Archie Moore & all the old school fighters which used with great success what coach Tom is sharing here. Roberto Durán & Julio César Chavéz were amazing doing this too. Thank a lot for sharing your wisdom!!
Many boxing coaches teach their students by benting their waist and saying squatting by looking at their opponent. But no student can apply this in training matches. This technique is very effective, thank you.
Coach whatcha doing? Giving up these sweet details! 😁😁 Love the Bruce Lee plug 🔌! Braxton was nasty with this, he stayed on your centerline. That had to be frustrating and draining to his opponents.
Wow, really good video Mr. Yankello. This way of weaving strikes me as more efficient. I see Danny's shiner. I trust the other guy has TWO shiners for Danny's one. :)🥊
thanks for this new class Coach! Since you mentioned Benn here, I take the occasion to ask you some class about his style and his guard with that particular feet position. Thanks again, we cannot stop watchin you!
As a short man who loves boxing I found about Quawi 5’6 and fight 6’4 George foreman at Heavyweight! And evander holyfield he was amazing at bobbing and weaving
I love it. ❤. finally someone teaches about what the greats do and not regurgitating what is accepted norm for proper technique ie. bend your knees not at your waste.
Love the knowledge should you duck at the waist and weave on the inside but if your farther away can you bend at the knees or is that fundamentaly wrong I'll bend at the knees to slip sometimes but I've definitely seen Tyson do that. Idn great video also I dig what you said about Qawi and Frazier they definitely bobbed at the waist.
i was thinking the same thing ted. i know for a fact as well that tyson in his prime form would do so since i have seen it on jkd tyson channel. parnell whitaker was another. i think the way to go is a hybrid between the two so you can drive up with the back and the legs. One thing to notice is that this is not advice from a trainer nor his student that have tyson legs to draw upon for power. interestingly jack dempsey taught the wait bend as shown in his book.
After all these years coaches always say don't bend at the waist. And my defense was lacking. This makes so much more sense. Why have I never been taught this
We want sparring videos, techical sparring drills please 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
They’re there
He’s not showing sparring very often
They don’t like to because when they compete the opponents can study the fighters. Usually no pictures or videos are allowed when sparring unless cleared by the coach.
I used to get screamed at for weaving low like that, but I got framed and lit up when I did it the "right" way. I decided being yelled at was better than getting a headache.
As Coach made clear, you were right.
There are times when its better to duck the 'right ' way .boxing isnt just black and white
Good morning thank you very much for this video I appreciate
Quawi was like a More technical Version of Frazier, everything he didn’t was tighter & more textbook, glad you mentioned him, he seems forgotten by most
I look forward to seeing this kid in the future.
Crazy how this all for free. Love how you still putting in work everyday.
This is a world class boxing lesson!!! Anyone who wants to learn Boxing at a high level should save this video in a playlist and watch it several times to understand the correct technique. Another great lesson, thank you Coach 🙏👍👍🥊🥊💯
That is the best coaching and technique I've ever seen Coach Yankello. All your lessons are first class the gold standard, big fan from Australia!
Thank you so much! As a taller fighter I was struggling to weave because I’d always get caught on the top of the head. This makes so much sense and is much more feasible. Thank you again, excellent video!
So weaving is better then rolling for taller fighters?
This is excellent and you added a great explanation to why weaving the old school way can be a safer option than the other method.
When he said 'feeel' it's more like keeping your eyes around the torso of your opponent without focusing on his gloves. Just like when you're driving, you don't actually wanna put your eyes on the lanes
0:01 Defensive counter punch drill
(weaves / rolls /slips )
0:15 time stamps
0:20 details what important /this is where greatness is
0:40 this weave without look at target (its about feeel)
Lost art duck and weave
1:24 weaves this way makes me alot harder target
Then weaving with head up (this way he can't still get me punch me /or stop me )
Put head down he can't do that
2:25 I get closer like that /and put my hand on him
2:35 Iam not bend at waist and get/taking head /chin past front foot (past knee is ok for this drill ) /
And my hips not under me
2:48 I bend at waist (head getting past front knee /but head and chin not gettin past front foot )
3:10 weave the other way (head up ) I can still get hit with shots
I have to get down lower / where I can't punch back from there
Iam stressing quads /tight up hip flexers /can't punch
3:37weaving other way I don't put stress in my quads
(just weave and bend the waist /without stress quads ) /not the knee bend weave
3:55 now I am in position to punch back /becz its hip torque
4:00 different punches to throw
4:20 or gets an angle
5:03 2 weaves /shoulder roll
Rt hand lft hook
Roll hook slip rt hand /weave hook / rt hand hook
5:48 so come back with rt hand hook
Both times
5:55 again
6:48 relax no tension / be like water
Be soft /extend ur shots
7:15 get shoulder up little higher on shoulder roll
7:35 repetion repetion /master technique and all little details
7:45 weave under over hnd rt / rt hook /strgth rt hand
7:55 weave other way /(head up still can get hit ) /he cant counter back ...
8:30 shoulder roll pick shoulder up little more
8:45 roll with hook /not open up too much to get hit wirh rt hand
I got little bit weight on front leg to come back with hook / or sit down on roll and throw rt hand
So in position to do both
9:15 I can add lft hook to body /head too / after slip rt hand
9:25 or just body lft hook
9:35 or body lft hook /then when weaving after lft hook / throw lft body shot on the way weaving
10:02 so keep on adding stuff /be creative /keep on puttin stuff together
Its all about technique of it /when I get it down I am going to keep on being able to flow the next move
Without gettin all thrown off and havin to get reset
10:18 practice it / look at all details over over again (watch way he bend his waist /watch feet not too wide or too close )
10:30 Strive for perfect
Continue on work on stance every day
Basics basics basics /( just becz its basic dosnt mean its easy )
Thanks for your time👌
WOW!! Yeah thanks mate.
Thanks, Bruce. How's the afterlife?

Thank you. Very much appreciated
Beautiful flow and combo.

Thanks! You always bring the heat Coach. Your love, passion and desire to pass on the sweet science are obvious.
Thanks for slowing it down Coach and Danny. This is so motivating to me
I am going to practice this for sure!! Thanks coach!
Tom yankello the grand master of boxing
Another great skills combination. And this guy, with teacher Tom, can go up on top levels.
Amazing! The accuracy of details is uncomparable! I love that!
Pure gold! Thanks coach.
Absolutely true about Benn, he did weave like this, little known fact, well explained Tom.
One of the greatest coach in boxing

The Best Boxing Channel ‼️

The only coach I’ve ever seen teach the weave like that, and I’m not going to argue, it makes sense.

Hello coach. I would also like to see some sparing! What's up Danny!
I love it. ❤. finally someone teaches about what the greats do and not regurgitating what is accepted norm for proper technique ie. bend your knees not at your waste.
Earned a sub
The Tyson duck and weave and your'e done!
HI couch i still cant do shoulder roll right i always take hits on my upper head part

Bruce lee is my life maaan 😍
Plllz keep these defensive videos roooolin ❤
Sup, Bruce. How's the afterlife?
Joe Frazier also bent at the waist. Am I right?
Can you please explain the benefits of doing pad drills and why you do pad drills?
Alot of reasons accuracy, timing, combinations, re enacting the gameplan etc
Can you make one for like really tall dudes? 6'7?
9:43 he got a free shot on you lol you even smile 😂😂😂
What about straight punches with weaves slips rolls
Science
Would this work in Muay Thai where kicks and knees are involved?
I know you should always have someone to train with but can you do a solo training? Thanks
🔥
So it's bending at the waist and not at the hips? Very interesting. i understand that
Should we weave this way all the time or only certain situations?
So is weaving better then rolling?
DULY NOTED
Coach, won't looking down cost you points in amateur boxing?
👏👏👍
