Hiya - glad to hear it was helpful. You might need to try the other mask settings in the drop down, it's hard to know without seeing how you've applied it. Hi Becki. Great clear video. I'm having difficulties with downloading ZIP file into OBS STUDIO Folder. I open OBS after installing StreamFX. It's not showing in my OBS. I also went the EXE route with no success having it added into OBS STUDIO. I have the latest version of OBS. Thanks in advance
Hiya! It seems StreamFX are still working out some issues with the newer OBS versions. Some are reporting being unable to get it to work at the moment. Only thing I can suggest is dropping your log files into their discord and seeing if they can get you up and running. Or try rolling back to a pre v27 OBS. They are working hard to get it back up again for everyone though!
i want to do that bottom and top blur thing youve got. it looks amazing. im not sure how to do it. which part of this vid helps with this? im not great at tech haha. love your videos
Hi Catherine. I do show this when I do the semi transparency for a chat window. You would just need to crop in a vertical direction instead. I just layered a video behind mine too for added effect and cropped this in the same way. I will maybe do a separate tutorial on the overlay to cover it :)

This was an awesome video. I will surely be using it on my weekly dj livestreams. I do have one question. Is there a way to get a moving livestream? Say if I'm moving around my dj booth a little can the area not being blurred follow me? Thanks for any help.
This is such a cool idea! I'm not aware of a way to do this in OBS natively, it would require a plugin that could track you and then something like the 'move filter' plugin to apply the motion. I am currently testing an app for mobile called XSplit VCam which has a background blur ability which MIGHT be able to track motion. That could be worth a shot but on the free version so far I think you would need to take a static shot of your background to blur. If I can get this working better I will make a vid to show how :)
I have literally tried everything. I have tried reinstalling OBS in both Program files and Program Files (x86), and installing StreamFX in both OBS file locations. When I open OBS, nothing is different. I don't have the "StreamFX" tab at the top, and I don't have the additional filters or anything. What could be going wrong???
Ok, first of all, great tutorial! But I am doing something wrong. I installed the StreamFX, and the "StreamFX" tab appears in OBS, but I don't have more filters than I had before. So no blur for me. I'm pretty sure the problem is my ability miss something obvious, and I will feel stupid when I find out what I'm doing wrong..

I have OBS Studio 26.1.1, so I need to update, and I presume it will fix the problem.... However, when I click "Check for updates" in the "Help" tab, absolutely nothing happens. Guess I'll just download and install from scratch.. :)
@@Feldon666 the update window might be getting stuck behind a pop up blocker or something but yes if you grab the updated version that should fix it! Let me know if it works ☺️ There’s lots of other filters in StreamFX too which are great. I’ve done vids on a few of them if you need any help 💜
This video sadly fall off now days due to the removal of the binaries/exe files, all future installs now have to be done by manually building the plugin from the source code..

It's almost what I need :-) Is there a way to have OBS recognize my background (maybe by taking a picture without me and my chair and microphone) and only apply the blur filter to the background, so I don't have to sit in the pre-defined blur-filter-area all the time but can move around? P.S. : this video provides lots of value for the viewer and is very well made. I guarantee if you consistently keep up the great work, you'll gather subscribers and viewers like crazy and if you also get into social networking a bit, you will have made it big in 3-5 years. Like REALLY big.

What an amazing comment to read 💜 You would need to use a green screen ideally for what you describe BUT I have been playing with a free program called XSplit that also has a mobile version. Ive been able to set this up so it adds a blur only to my background and tracks me. I am planning a video on it soon but you could certainly go check it out before then :) Thank you again, this made my day!
the stramfx icon is up there showing that everything is in the right place but there is no filters showing on the filters options can you help ? please
@Becki Lea So i was watching the first 10 seconds of this video, and the audio and video are out of sync. I loaded up your latest video on your channel and it still has the desync in video and audio. Just letting you know it looks a bit odd and is very distracting.
Hey Nisco, thanks for the heads up! I thought I had sorted this as it seems fine on my PC, Voicemeeter has a lot to answer for! (or my weird set up does!) Listened back on mobile and TV and can hear the issue... doh! I appreciate you taking the time to let me know and I'm hoping this is resolved now I've made further changes to my audio set up for future videos! ✌
UPDATE Jan 23: for OBS 29 users you can use StreamFX Alpha 151 version which should work. This may mean that the plug-in doesn’t work for you. Hey, are you using the masters version of OBS? Needs to be 27+ now with a recent update. Worth a check :) It would also be a pc reboot, not just and OBS restart.
@@TeenyWeeny I’ve been having a look on the StreamFX discord and there has been a suggestion that using StreamElements OBS.live add on can cause issues. Are you using this? If not I would suggest hopping on the official help channel in their discord as you can submit your OBS log file and they can check to see if there are any incompatibilities. Which blur filter were you using? Some of them are less intensive on the CPU than others, also the more you crank the effect the more it will use so you can try lowering it. I don't go over level 4 on the dual filter which is about equivalent to 28 on the gaussian filter.
When I was attempting to download this, I messed with the file location and made a new folder called Stream FX. I can't get this plug in to work no matter what I do. Can someone help?
Hi Leyla. You should just be able to re-download it in the correct location and delete the first one. Or you can copy and paste the files from the first install over into the OBS folder. Do make sure you are running the latest version of OBS too as if you are on a version older that 27.1 it might not work.
Hi there. I would suggest making sure you are running the latest version of OBS and check that you have extracted the plug-in into the OBS folder. Most common mistake here if just unzipping the file into ‘downloads’. Hope this helps!

I’m not sure what’s causing this issue for you but if you are just trying to get a fake dslr effect so just you background is blurred I would suggest trying this out instead: ruclips.net/video/mMn4q1NwByQ/видео.html - it actually uses less cpu power than this effect too. Hope this helps.
It’s been a little while since I’ve installed this but just make sure everything is on the latest version and do a full PC restart afterwards. Also make sure OBS isn’t open when you install it.
@@GHCfitness nooooo! Just double check you’ve installed it in the right OBS location. I had OBS files in both standard program files and Program Filesx64. Easy way but I check is right click on your OBS icon and choose ‘show file location’

Hopefully this will be updated soon to work with all OBS v28 versions. It works for me on v28.1 but looks like it’s not working with v28.3 It’s still in Alpha testing at the moment for newer versions unfortunately obsproject.com/kb/obs-studio-28-plugin-compatibility
The blur doesnt seem to work for me / has zero effect on my camera on obs and ive no idea why. Plug in is installed and other aspects work but the blur doesnt, can anyone help?
@@LimaEchoEchoZz that’s really strange. It’s a known issue if you aren’t on the latest version. But it should be working if you are. I would maybe consider redownloading OBS in a different location (I have two on my pc, one in program files and one in documents) and making sure OBS is closed when you look to install streamfx to it. If OBs happens to be open when you try add plugins they can sometime corrupt. I’m just throwing suggestions at this point I’m afraid :(
Sorry to hear that! I can only suggest checking in with the StreamFX team discord that I have linked if you are still having problems as they will be able to check your OBS logs and see what went wrong. Sometimes running OBS in Admin mode may help too!
@@MrMclovinGaming if you are wanting something a bit more dynamic for a ‘DSLR’ style depth of field effect, after making this video I found another tool which you might like, it also can reduce cpu usuals if your pc struggles with the higher levels of blur in StreamFX. @@BeckiLea your Tutorial has help me alot ,We use OBS for converting 8MM Super and 16mm cine flim and found out that our picture was to good , sharp and no natural as cine flim should look , it is so good that we pick up the scratchs and dust off the fresnal screen , we need to blur ever slightly and your video is a great help . keep up the great stream .

@Cosgemma There has been a recent update of this so there could be an issue. It should show though if you are on the latest version of StreamFX and OBS. I did make another video on how to add a blur to just your camera background if that is something you were looking to try with this? cant get the exe file apparently from github.
I rebooted my OBS many times, blur isn't there. I assume I have to reboot the PC itself to apply it?
Hey, are you using the masters version of OBS? Needs to be 27+ now with a recent update. Worth a check :) It would also be a pc reboot, not just and OBS restart.

@@TeenyWeeny I’ve been having a look on the StreamFX discord and there has been a suggestion that using StreamElements OBS.live add on can cause issues. Are you using this? If not I would suggest hopping on the official help channel in their discord as you can submit your OBS log file and they can check to see if there are any incompatibilities. Any idea why the filter takes so much cpu though the cpu doesn't show that?
Which blur filter were you using? Some of them are less intensive on the CPU than others, also the more you crank the effect the more it will use so you can try lowering it. I don't go over level 4 on the dual filter which is about equivalent to 28 on the gaussian filter.
@@BeckiLea Tried Dual and Gausch. Both said cpu under 5 percent usage. Everything was laggy though
When I was attempting to download this, I messed with the file location and made a new folder called Stream FX. I can't get this plug in to work no matter what I do. Can someone help?
Hi Leyla. You should just be able to re-download it in the correct location and delete the first one. Or you can copy and paste the files from the first install over into the OBS folder. Do make sure you are running the latest version of OBS too as if you are on a version older that 27.1 it might not work.

Hi there. I would suggest making sure you are running the latest version of OBS and check that you have extracted the plug-in into the OBS folder. Most common mistake here if just unzipping the file into ‘downloads’. Hope this helps!

I’m not sure what’s causing this issue for you but if you are just trying to get a fake dslr effect so just you background is blurred I would suggest trying this out instead: ruclips.net/video/mMn4q1NwByQ/видео.html - it actually uses less cpu power than this effect too. Hope this helps.
any tips for when i download the file but wont pop up on my obs?
It’s been a little while since I’ve installed this but just make sure everything is on the latest version and do a full PC restart afterwards. Also make sure OBS isn’t open when you install it.

@@GHCfitness nooooo! Just double check you’ve installed it in the right OBS location. I had OBS files in both standard program files and Program Filesx64. Easy way but I check is right click on your OBS icon and choose ‘show file location’
@@BeckiLea mine shows program files/obs studio-bin-64bit. Not sure why it won't work :(

looks like Stream FX doesn't work anymore. The application hasn't been updated since February.
Hopefully this will be updated soon to work with all OBS v28 versions. It works for me on v28.1 but looks like it’s not working with v28.3

The blur doesnt seem to work for me / has zero effect on my camera on obs and ive no idea why. Plug in is installed and other aspects work but the blur doesnt, can anyone help?

It was due to having Voicemeeter on my audio. Sadly I didn’t realise until this was posted. All sorted on newer vids. Sorry if it’s trippy!!

Hey! Are you using OBS version 27+? The latest release will only work with this so if bot, upgrade OBS first. Hope this helps!

@@LimaEchoEchoZz that’s really strange. It’s a known issue if you aren’t on the latest version. But it should be working if you are. I would maybe consider redownloading OBS in a different location (I have two on my pc, one in program files and one in documents) and making sure OBS is closed when you look to install streamfx to it. If OBs happens to be open when you try add plugins they can sometime corrupt. I’m just throwing suggestions at this point I’m afraid :(

Sorry to hear that! I can only suggest checking in with the StreamFX team discord that I have linked if you are still having problems as they will be able to check your OBS logs and see what went wrong. Sometimes running OBS in Admin mode may help too!

@@MrMclovinGaming if you are wanting something a bit more dynamic for a ‘DSLR’ style depth of field effect, after making this video I found another tool which you might like, it also can reduce cpu usuals if your pc struggles with the higher levels of blur in StreamFX. I'll be sure to remove it for the next one :) If the delay is longer than that for you then it could be linked to Cache files needing a clear out as I've experienced this myself when viewing some videos here on RUclips. @@BeckiLea your Tutorial has help me alot ,We use OBS for converting 8MM Super and 16mm cine flim and found out that our picture was to good , sharp and no natural as cine flim should look , it is so good that we pick up the scratchs and dust off the fresnal screen , we need to blur ever slightly and your video is a great help . keep up the great stream .
