FINALLY! A video made for BEGINNERS. RUclips seems to be full of presentations made by people who have forgotten what it's like to learn a new skill. At last, someone who actually explains how to get started and not how to use an editor when you have been doing it for 15 years! Thanks for taking the trouble to explain the basics!

Kevin is VERY GOOD at teaching, and HE speaks clearly, and slow enough to watch and learn... Evn if like me, you have watch it a hundred times!!I!! Cuz like he says here.... Best 36 minutes in recent memory. I did video editing 30 years ago and it was all 3/4" analog so digital editing was completely new. I've been piling up drone footage and knew I had to learn to edit again if i ever wanted anyone to see it. One short tuorial later I'm ready to start editing it.
I've watched a lot of tutorials, but this was outstanding. Your voice, clarity, precision, flow, everything is perfect! You made it so easy to understand, thank you!
This is one of the best tutorials I've ever seen. You don't jump over things that you think people already know, you show us the various options we have to do things, and you don't jump around and confuse us. Clearly, you put a lot of work into this. It's very much appreciated! I'm now ready to tackle video editing. I've been confused, irritated, and lost before, but you've given me the confidence to try it. OpenShot seems to be the most straight forward software you can find. Thank you so much for this step-by-step tutorial!

Another excellent concept that is unique to Your video is the fact that you have been generous enough to include a dozen files to practice with. Learn-by-doing. I couldn't agree more. Fantastic and educational video instruction. Many Thanks for a task very well executed. Barry Howard Begley.

I didn't know how I was going to ever learn these skills, but figured I'd try a few more videos before I gave up. Amazing tutorial! I've started to use Openshot for simple editing and this is really helpful. Something I would add, not sure if this happens in all the versions, but I had to set the project profile resolution before starting importing videos for it to be able to export in the correct resolution afterwards. By default the profile is HD 720p 30fps (it says so in the title bar), if I wanted to then export in 4K it would export it with crappy resolution in my case. I solved it by changing the profile BEFORE importing files by clicking file => choose profile and choosing 4K in my case.

Thank you SO much for doing this video. In all my years trying to learn a video editor I have never seen one done step by step. This was extremely helpful.

Thank you for your great tutorial. I was especially amazed by the "keyframe" function. It looks easy to use. I'll change my video editor to OpenShot. Thank you.

Thank you so much for this tutorial! Moviemaker usually works fine for my simple editions but I really need it a new video editor for more available options without having to download a full-professional video-editor like Sony Vegas, Davinci, etc. At first sight, OpenShot seemed daunting to me but thanks to your explanation now I get how this software goes. Thank you!!
I do appreciate the look under the hood of this application. Not something I'll use for editing but your explanation of fine how to use details is fantastic. 👍
Thanks for your usual clear and informative presentation. Your teachings have given me the tools I need to start my own channel. Could not have done it without your sharing your wealth of knowledge. I still have so much more to learn.
Very clear and good video. I use(d) OpenShot for some elementary cut and paste editing, (only every once in a while). For this goal generally one doesn't engage in hours of tutorials, so one tries to manage it intuitively. That made me run into some issues where OpenShot certainly could improve, but your video cleared them for me (and could have saved me some frustration had I watched it before/had it been online then). These issues are mainly: 1) the zoom function is counterintuitive and makes clips disappear, 2) the exported files are even after rigorous clipping multiple times larger than the original. Why not add a default option that just matches the original (so a 10% clips of a 20 MB files renders 2 MB)? 3) Undoing does not make things return to the before situation. Luckily I now know what to do. These issues do appear on forums, so it not only me. ) BTW in clipping/trimming/slicing etc: why is there no 'keep the middle'? Anyway, thanks, this video is a great help. Great idea too to provide practice material.

Thank you for your great tutorial.
I was especially amazed by the "keyframe" function.
It looks easy to use.
I'll change my video editor to OpenShot.
Thank you.
Superb. Probably one of the best videos you have made. . . . Absolutely brilliant
not a single time wasted with your tutorial, thank you for sharing this.
I have watched this video like 6-7 times, and today I copied it all down... Well I started copying it last night. Gotta learn this more advanced editor so I can progress in my work. And I know I said this already, but I think that saying it again is all good... Been using the Windows Editor within the Photos tab on my PC these past 8 months, and now I have learned 2 applications from you Kevin, "Thank you very much!!" 💙🤛
This is a brilliant intro to a difficult subject - thanks so much for uploading, it is a real help to a complete novice like me.
Thanks for this useful tutorial. I started working with OpenShot today and am continually going back to your instructions.
This was Awesome! Thoroughly and easily explained! Thank you!
Simplified teaching! With initial zero knowledge in editing, this video has been helping with my edit tasks. Thanks for sharing.
Great presentation for beginners!
This was not just a click this click that and this is how it's done.
No one could have done a better tutorial than you Sir,
You are truly amazing at explaining 👍👍👍👍😁😁
Thank you for taking the time to give such an in depth tutorial. Most instructive and professionally done.
I was initially skeptical of both this video and the software but you absolutely convinced me. Thank you for such a thorough and concise tutorial!
FANTASTIC VIDEO! EDUCATION, TUTORIAL, PRACTICE, P E R F E C T !!! You are awesome for teaching a dummy how to do use a video editor! Thank you.
After watching your video that suggested open shot I followed the link to your tutorial and thankfully it was everything I needed for a first time video edit a small project for a friend. Easy to follow. Great job. Thank you.
That’s a great tutorial. Thanks Kevin. I watched a different tutorial. And it was insufferable yours was easy to understand and to the point. 🤙
Great job ! Tried one of your other recommendations, but my PC didn't have the power to run it. I just went through your first tutorial and now planning my first edited video. Thanks again.
You are the BEST at explaining these things. I have learned sooooo much from your videos. Thank you!!
Very helpful! I am a type of learner who needs this kind of clear and precise tutorial. Thank you for sharing!
Man, YOU are an awesome source of information, instruction, and guidance!!!
Oh my god, effing fantastic tutorial! This is wayyyyy easier than Powerdirector!!! Thanks for working so hard, Professor Kevin!
Thank you!!
I appreciate all of your video tutorials. They are super helpful for newbs like myself.
This is hands down the best tutorial I have ever watched. Thank you so so much for all the details!!
This sir has helped me immeasurably. I now can edit in OpenShot with impeccable ease. Thank you kindly for your excellent tutorial.
Thanks for teaching Kevin! Truly, the power of open-source is infinite.
Kevin i learnt more here than anywhere, Sir Stratvert i Salute you
Excellent tutorial with out any unneeded fluff. Thankyou!
Excellent video, thank you for thinking about us beginners and being thorough! It’s very much appreciated!
You are an amazing teacher, in short, gifted! thanks
