Joe was a truly brilliant front man, oozing energy. Sadly taken far too early. From the Clash to the Wilderness years, Earthquake Weather to Walker, to the Mescaleros. All brilliant , all diverse. From punk to gospel to reggae to pop to folk. Jeez he was soooo feckin brilliant. That little set on Jools showed it all. RIP Joe, legend
Really well said. I haven’t had many idols in my life but I could definitely say Joe was one of a few. Warts and all. I live in New York now and Joe used to go to my friends restaurant when he was in town. His untimely passing happened and I never wound up meeting him. my friend said he was an incredible guy. Spent time with him talking signing all my friends Clash records. My friend has a vast collection of vinyl and he kept him at his restaurant because he used to DJ there when he felt like it. just ordered or pre-ordered Joe and the mescaleros 002.
That's my Hero right there it bums me out he's not here with us in the living world my 16 year old son is called Strummer Clash Palace in homage to JOE STRUMMER AND HIS BAND OF MERRY MEN R.I.P Rest In Punk Joe Strummer And The Clash who guided my moral compass in my teenage years thank you 👏👏👏👍
@@whywhywhy9659 well you might think that but he really likes not ever hearing his name called out for someone else in class or anywhere and he likes explaining to people who don't have any idea about Joe Strummer and he knows a lot
Sir Joe Strummer… Such a True Talent. You saved my Life. The arrow of life Sharpens it’s point. One of the most talented Artists of all time. I almost got crushed at the Aragon in Chicago when The CLASH played this....only time I ever feared for my life. The crowd energy was intense. God I miss him💔
To the discerning eyes and ears, upon closer inspection isn’t that jimmy savile the satanick Masonick Entertainment Industry created, multimillionaire, deceiver-shill actor sellout deceiver masquerading as joe strummer, allegedly?
He is a badass a talent a hero an icon a legend. No matter who or what got you into him he always brings you the feeling of rebellion. He makes you want to play music or do something with music. He is a big inspiration on not just my music but my life
A fine memory of the great man. Thank fuck it didn't get ruined by Jools joining in with his piano! Mind you, Joe would probably have garotted him with a guitar string if he had...
Ohh cool😮❤☮️ We have only gained tremendous from your heavy heart crushing bones for truth this 1000 years Me Strummer. Thanks, this sounds incredible.
I agree! What great tunes, the newer material sounds really good. What a loss to music. He obviously enjoyed playing & is on top form here - as are the band 👍❤️
This was excelent, (I) had caout this Mascalerro outfit , as a Hootn' (ANNie) southern Balifornia ($th o' July. I think the Year (of contest)...2000's.
That puffy bloat in his cheeks? That’s a symptom of impending heart failure. It’s not old age or weight gain; it’s fluid retention due to a weak heart. I was hospitalized for congestive heart failure and have learned to spot that sign anywhere. I am shocked that you could see Joe’s eventual cause of death right there in his face, two years before he passed. If he’d gotten medical attention then, he might still be with us.
I am astonished at how antagonised people are by my comment. It is a fact that Joe died of an undiagnosed heart problem, and I am simply saying that the signs were right there in his face. A doctor, any decent doctor, should have looked at him and caught the issue and treated him. Then he might still be with us. My observation does not make me an armchair doctor. It simply makes me someone who nearly died of undiagnosed heart failure and could look in the mirror and see the puffy face and wonder for months what was wrong. It is sad that musicians like Joe don't get regular medical attention - many are uninsured - but that many doctors are also so lax at diagnosing problems that they allowed someone like Joe to develop symptoms probably for years and never caught the problem. I am sorry that these observations are so triggering to y'all that you'd wish Joe and me dead rather than wish the medical system wasn't so crappy. Cheers!
So glad Strummer didn’t live long enough to do car insurance or margarine adverts or worse, wear a mask and do some Pfizer promo. Surely not, surely Joe wouldn’t have worn a mask.
I really loved Joe and the Mescaleros. Just as magical as The Clash in my opinion. Joe was aging the like the finest of red wine. The universe stole him from us. We need to fucking steal him back!
I met joe in Nottingham one night, what a great guy he was , I’m 64 now and still listening to the clash
Joe Strummer, the best front man of the best band, EVER.
i'll second that !!!! never to be repeated in our lifetime !!!!!

The point of punk was NOT to have hero's! DIY!
You must be functionally braindead to burden your son with your own poor taste like that. Narcissistic and self indulgent as it gets.
Could be worse, could be heathcornbeef, just saying, but you could have called him Joe,or Woody,as he was known before?
This was 23 years ago and when this was performed it was about 23 years since the song was released.

This version is ferocious
Man, St. Strummer’s voice aged like a fine whisky. More albums with that voice is the thing I’m missing most in my library.
Happy Birthday London Calling . The greatest album ever 12/14/79
Joe Strummer was a huge inspiration for me. Sandinista is my favorite album year after year!

I use to go on tour with The Clash and loved it for 10 years, so when these guys got together it was fantastic as they would do Clash Tunes ❤
The energy, the intelligence, the simplicity, all amazing. Thank you.
I’ll always remember the first time I heard the Clash.

@Gaston Ate you a REAL doctor, or do you just PLAY one on the Internet?..

The term genius is often overused in my opinion, but I think one can apply the term to Joe in terms of his music and legacy
Two drummers to make up topper ..class this tho
I think joe would changed his mind if he saw what has happened to uk!
Joe, like Bob Geldof, was a rocker who switched to punk.
Geldof isn't punk in the slightest

Joe's Mescaleros work was excellent but the Clash cover kind of sucked. London is awfully projecting!
Terrible Mick work causing Joe to stray!
Controversial I know, but I think The Clash were quite the overrated band

You’re so right, they were overlooked by many who are sorely missing out
