I reviewed the Huion Kamvas Pro 13 a couple months ago. This smaller version is very similar in almost every way. Now the pen has tilt support and a laminated display similar to the Wacom Cintiq Pro line. How does it match up? lets find out.

I have this tablet, and I have to say, I was a bit skeptical to use a Huion tablet. Because when I asked other artist’s opinions they always talked about the drivers issue, and about bad customer service.
Seeing all those RUclipsrs try out Huion tablet made me want to try it, and when I saw that 25% discount to pre-order it, I did not think twice before adding it to my cart.
Guys, this is AMAZING. No drivers issue, I use everyday. My first ever display tablet, and I love it.
Before that I had a Trust tablet and and Intuos small draw. But after that I got an IPad, and could not draw with standard tablet anymore. It is so good.
If you have the budget, I recommend you this tablet !
i bought a 15,6 and like you it's ok...just one point, they could make to choose your express keys for each software like wacom
How bout wobble line issue?
Did they fixed it?
I have an older Kamvas Model from 2016 and it only just died THIS YEAR vs my $900 Cintiq tablet I bought back in 2013 which last for 2 months before dying.
Huion is a great make and inexpensive too

I got this for my birthday, it’s my first drawing tablet (I don’t count the H420 I bought and used once) and I love it to bits. I’m now using it to draw my comic, and it’s really upped my game from when I used my outdated IPad Mini and my finger to draw my first comic. The drivers installed perfectly and were easy to navigate.
Just putting this out there for any potential buyers.

Usually the wobble problem will not appear if the pen draw lines with a little bit faster speed. it only occurs when the pen draw lines with a more slowly speed. You have no idea for how long I was waiting for this review :D
Got one finally yesterday and I absolutely love it. It’s my first pen display tablet but it works flawless with no major issues. The driver was really easy to install after trying to uninstall the Wacom intuos driver. It was my first pad tablet, I tried everything to get it to feel natural but I just couldn’t ,I think you can but it’s quite hard a specially when it’s so small so when I first tried the Huion Kamvas pro 12 yesterday I was absolutely pleased with my purchase (it was actually a very late birthday present which I bought with the money I received and I think it was worth it 🙂)
Just ordered this as my first drawing tablet. I was definitely getting lost on what to order, and your review helped a lot. Thanks!

I bought this one a couple of weeks ago.. I was going to buy the 13'', but then this one was also there for 260€... I didn't even blink
When I bought it there were no reviews of it yet, but I figured it'd be pretty much the same as the 13'' only slightly smaller (which I'm fine with.. and for 260€!! I mean, cmon)
If anyone wants to know what I think (a random guy that has the tablet and is completely unbiased because I don't have any affiliation with absolutely anything (not saying Brad has)):
-9/10 build quality and looks (the edges aren't apple perfect, but god damn it's better than what I thought)
-10/10 screen
-10/10 price
-8/10 performance... so far (since these pro ones are pretty new we don't know yet if they last years)
with performance well.. I've been using it as a 2nd monitor (duh..) but with photoshop open on it and youtube open on my laptop so, separate screens. And from time to time, I noticed that it happens if I don't draw anything for a minute, it will make the pen "unresponsive"(?) like, the pen will work as a cursor, but it won't input anything and then it draws everything in a row. Maybe that's just my pc that can't handle it.. I tried not having chrome open with youtube watching videos and I think it worked fine from start to finish
I never noticed the wavy lines and neither will any of you, I guarantee that. It's such a minor thing that you have to look for to find it (I didn't even find it btw)

ps: In the box it doesn't say it comes with a glove and when you're checking out it tells you to add a glove is like 5€, but I didn't ask for one and oh.. there was one in the box :D
pps: driver installation was fast and easy and everything worked from the get go

@@Nelson_Ocampo you may or may not get it in the box. It's supposed to NOT have one, but they just threw one in there for some reason. I'm glad they did, I won't say no to a free glove. I think that, from all the comments I've read so far that mentioned the glove, most people get one inside the box. You know it's not supposed to be there, because the description doesn't show one and neither does the little book inside the box that shows everything in it. Plus the glove didn't have those little plastic "bags" or anything, it was just there on top of other stuff. But hey, now you might have 2, keep one at home and take the other with you when you go out
Hey Alucard thanks for this. I'm planning on getting a display tablet this month. How do you think this conpares to XP-Pen Artist 12? It costs nearly the same $250 but doesnt come with the stand.
@@rosiemorell7821 the tablet is more expensive now, because after that first month it gets to its normal price of 350. I still think 350 or 400 for the 13'' is a great deal comparing to everything else on the market.. *couf.. Wacom... "couf..
In fact, due to my stupid country being an economic desgrace I ended up paying almost 400 for mine. It was 260 in the store, but once it got here I had to pay 130 more because my government is a piece of shit (If I had bought the tablet for 350 I'd have to pay even more...). That's also something you should have in mind, depending on where you live.. Right now there are cheaper options like the xp pen I think, but I don't know anything about those.. I can give an even more detailed description of what I think about these kamvas pro, now that I've used it more if anyone wants to know

Literally just got mine for drawing and graphics design (CGI) and it's honestly great. It's everything I wanted as someone who is an amateur in drawing but experienced in CGI.

Informative and entertaining as always. Can you please review the small Cintiq Pros.. With all their reported teething problems, it is still a device that would be ideal for a travelling artist. A review of the 16" would be preferable. Please Wacom, send Brad a Cintiq Pro 16". Thanks 😉
The wobbly line has been reduced significantly on the last driver update, it's almost in par with the Wacom Cintiq pro 13 which also has a wobbly line problem.
Thx for the review Brad! Huion also has the 20 I feel the results may be similar to this tablet. Im hoping to get that tablet for my birthday!

Hey Brad, cheers for the review! I've been doodling for fun on a Wacom Bamboo I got 8-9 years ago, and decided to make the jump to something a little bigger, and that actually has a screen. Currently between this and the Artist 12, which would you recommend more for a hobby artist who doesn't really do much of the inking lines you talked about? A smooth, straight pen on the Artist 12 sounds really nice, but so does the laminated screen. Thanks for any advice!
Thank you for letting me know you have to plug it into a computer and a wall outlet. I am looking for something with a rechargeable battery and that functions alone & without a computer. I didn't realize I needed to be aware of these boundaries. Blessings!
Yeah i know! A "DISPLAY" type tablet Will always have to be connected to a computer or laptop. If it doesnt have display in the title or description most likely you can use it by itself AND as a connectable tablet to pc.
So what's better - the Kamvas Pro 12 or the XP Pen Artist Pro 12? They seem really similar in functionality and specs (also the xp pro fixed a few things over the standard xp 12, like lamination to reduce parallaxing).
Also, the prices are almost identical for me (£200 for XP Pro 12 vs £215 for Kamvas Pro 12).

I was hoping that wavy lines issue was solved for this one but I see that it is still present. I had Kamvas Pro 13 and at the end I returned it because of this issue (also I had problems with pen calibration). Seeing that they will produce Pro 12 I was really hoping that mentioned problem will be fixed with resale of this one. I really liked Pro 13 but wobe was noticeable during drawing what, in my case, had negative effect on whole experience. But to end on positive note I will say that Huion support team was very helpful during my time with this tablet. I will be looking forward to see what equipment they will produce in future.
Could you show more info on tilt support? Wacom drivers have a diagnostic feature that show tilt support is working and also allow some adjustments for tilt sensitivity . If Huion drivers lack this feature could you show us a photoshop brush that has tilt enabled in action? PS Brush cursors that belong to tilt-able brushes actually tilt on screen giving visual proof that the brush is really tilting. Thanks!
I think the wobble is caused by the pw507 pen having a bit of give, the newer pw517 has improved on this according to huion

i bought this tablet last month on presale and it worked great!.......for three days.
drivers wouldn't work, said my tablet was disconnected and it stopped tracking my pen three days after i got it.....customer support sent me a new cord saying that was the issue but im doubtful, which really sucks. i really did like this tablet when it did function, as it was my very first display tablet, but be wary of the cords...pretty cheaply made apparently

This was such a helpful video! Currently I just have a small tablet that is not a touch screen so I'm debating to get a screen I can draw one.
Did you do this ruler tests on the Cintiq tablets too? For what I see online, all theses screen tablets have these wobly lines... it all comes down to micromovements in our hands and the fact that the nibs are a little lose to imitate the feeling of drawing on paper, with a soft pencil or something like that...
I have the Huion Kamvas 13 Pro and I have had ZERO wobble. I tried all the same tests Brad used in both his 12 and 13. It's really strange and at first I thought maybe dud devices but for Brad to have the SAME problem with both 12 and 13 suggests it may be his device setup.
I have used my Kamvas Pro 13 on a Macbook and my Windows 10 desktop at work - sketchbook Pro / Photocoshop CS6 and Photoshop CC. No wobble.

New tech new problems. I noticed that line wobble while you were inking. It is very noticable hopefully huion knocks it out in their next generation im still waiting for a pure usb c connection version. Still too many wires.

In your Kamvas 13 review, you mentioned that it corrected for parallax. Does the pro 12 have the same or does it suffer from bad parallax issues? Thanks!
In comparing huion and xp-pen monitor tablet which is a good tablet to start out with. Currently seek a monitor that is not small and not huge. Something that gives the bang for my buck. I like the huion 156 HD( i think its called that)and xp pen 13 and 15

Hey Brad!. Have you ever suffered from a bad pen calibration? I received a Huion Kamvas Pro 22, but returning it. Windows Cursor was ALWAYS offset by 2-3mm to the left of where the actual Pen Point was.(And this wasn't parallax, as the offset was to the side, no in depth, and yes, I was properly calibrating the pen, did it dozens of times). I can't afford a Cintiq but I definetely don't want to be buying and returning tablets till I find one that doesn't have this problem. And Huion Support told me that they have a 0.3mm offset error margin, and that it was acceptable by their standards(WUT!)
Do you think its a good idea acquire an protective film for display?
Im between this one vs xp pen 12 normal. The difference here is: xp pen is ips and this one huion is already on my country but also come with good antiglare screen plus acessory stand.
HI Brad , I cant find your thought about the driver. Is there any problem with the driver, cause some tablet are great but their driver is suck as we cant even do anything with it except return to amazon.

I don’t have this tablet but I’m hopefully getting it, I do have the h619 pro and it works perfectly, the buttons only work if you have the driver open but i think that’s normal though

Is that line correction part of PS ? Maybe "lazy nezumi" is a good fix for wobbly lines.
I think that if you use a ruler you should be able to draw a straight line without wobble in your hands which at every point the line wobbles so does your hand. If you dont believe me watch the video unless your video source jiggled at the exact precise moment or an silent undetected earthquake. What does it say when others say they dont get the same issue, You got wobble hands!
For your straight line test you were using a ruler but i could see your hand rocking back and forth pivoting on the ruler. I am thinking more user error.
Any possibility of asking Huion for their Kamvas 20 pro? Just saw it and was curious on how it would perform.

Can I use it without the power adapter? A drawing pad that doesn’t use the computers power is not good for the environment.

Can someone please help? I own this and it shows me the screen, but it only shows my computer background. Because it’s hooked up to my computer. I can not see the things I’m drawing on the tablet, but I can see it on the computer. I use my pen and the pen hooks up to the computer. I need help

this is better in everything (free stand, screen and pen) but the xp-pen 12 doesn't have the wobble issue so is better if you do slow lines xD I'll wait for a comparison from brad too
imo i'd choose this because of the lack of parallax!
I actually got the artist 12 when it came out. But they seem so similar. So wanted to see a comparison between the two.should have waited perhaps

@@leonardo-kg3rh Do the kamvas pros need a power adapter? Found that the xp-pen tablets dont necessarily need one. Major factor when you are on the go. A laptop with a usb port that provides power suffices for xp-pen tablets.

I just bought mine from Amazon, it's a bit cheaper now ( £210) but, where the cursor is and where the pen is, doesn't meet. I am a bit sad as it is really making it hard to draw and i may need to figure out how to refund it. I was hoping this would really work. I draw on Autodesk and its really hard with this ongoing pen issue. I may just have to buy an Ipad or look for wacom tablets with a screen.

huions released a firmware update that completely fixed the wavy line issue for the 13 pro. im not to sure if that extends to the 12 pro but if anyone has one its worth emailing them and asking for the update.
hopefully next year Huion will release 4k tablets
Does this have to be hooked up to a pc because if so then can you suggest drawing tablets at a fair price that don't need to be plugged into a pc or any other device
Have you tried turning off Tilt and seeing what happens to the wave on either the Kamvas Pro 13 or 12?

@@cocplayer4061 Wonder what the problem is... If it is firmware you would think it would be every tablet. I was thinking it might be a driver issue with the driver misreading the tilt data.
Maybe the wobbly tablets are using an outdated or newer Firmware version that is glitchy...
Hopefully they can get it fixed cause then they would really shake up the industry.

I have this one. I have a problem with the pen i dont know if its a common problem. But its a really enoyimg problem. The pointer hooks up with anything, sometimes it starts drawing all over display when i dont want to draw and something it starts move icons or palettes. Ive uninstalled both clip studio paint and Huion driver and reinstalled it. Still a problem. In future when i afford i Will change to a larver tablett and I had Huion kamvas pro 16 in mind. But if it also has this problem i think I change brand. Someone else with this problem?

Question! i'm trying to buy this from amazon, since its almost $100 cheaper, but it doesn't come with the power adapter plug thingy, (on the huion site you can choose which countries adapter you need) I can't find those anywhere! does anyone know where i can find one, or just the whole plug (it has to be compatible, and for some reason most aren't?)
Do you need to install Photoshop and other drawing apps separately?
I use the huion kamvas pro 13 and I love it. Huion really is the only company that challenges wacom and their near monopoly.
What about long term reliability?

Hey, i got a problem with the huion kamvas pro13. the touch bar u mentionted i want that for zooming in but i just cant get it binded to zooming in. i have binded scrolling up on the touch bar to alt+ scroll up and scrolling down i have binded to alt+scrolldown. but it just doesnt work?
Can I disconnect this and use it by itself? Or is that not a feature?

It's good for an "on the go" situation. Just use the P550 or P550s pen with it. TADAAA!
