  • Sometimes when texturizing shears and thinning shears are sharpened the teeth catch. This is a method to correct the problem of catching teeth that is safer than bending shears. Watch as Bonnie corrects this problem on two shears: An Olivia Garden Thinning Shear and a Centrix texturizing shear. See Bonnie's most hated shear and how she makes it cut.

Thanks from across the pond Bonnie, this video just got me out of a situation where another sharpener had almost ruined an expensive pair of thinning scissors. They work a treat after reconvening and ramping.

I removed the plate behind the screw, no more jamming, work smoothly again

We get those slightly bent chunkers from dropping them so this is helpful thanks

I tend to flatten both blades first no matter the number of teeth. Then a few passes with the pink stone. When I see damage like this first thing I would then do is sharpen the cutting teeth side. * can not do this with the texturizers with multiple swept teeth with several notches. Then I come back with my finest serration tool and apply a new series of notches... Flatten to remove burrs on the blade. Finally come back with my pink stone or as you did a few passes on the water stone to get the ramp. Have also see people do the ramping by running their flat hone backwards and take a one second pass that is virtually flat. 2-5 degrees. Seems to work almost every time

Sounds like it, but simply putting rings in the finger and thumb hole to keep you from griping so hard might be your solution.

Just curious if it would be acceptable to simply sell them a new set of shears?

Selling shears is ALWAYS acceptable and preferable. Take the old ones as a trade-in.
