I will be an Eastwood guy soon. I'll be in the market for a complete paint kit later in the year. I need everything from the compressor, spray gun, to all the accessories and equipment needed to do a complete car. I'm building a list on your website following these videos,I will implement all this information I do have a little bit of exsprience but not enough to give training because we are opening a full auto collition training centre in SOUTH AFRICA with the Celette bench training to panelbeating and spray painting. Thank you EASTWOOD for your videos.
You need to follow him then. He's got alot of cool things in the works, right up with what youre asking. @handsoncarskt on Instagram, Kevin Tetz on Facebook
I believe Kevin might be the best product spokesman since Billy Mays, with out all of the non sense yelling. Nice work Kevin, I believe you should be hosting a major Hot Rod show yesterday. very talented...
I may have messed my car up do to covid 19 I've been sanding for months and the car its self has shrunk and the engine is now a three cylinder were did I go wrong , I may have used the wrong grit, half the engine block is now dust
I bought the aluminum one from harbor freight. I guess mixing on cardboard isn't a good idea. Because the hardener seeps into the material and doesn't mix properly. Luckly I never had an issue prior to buying a real mixing board.
It's a whole lot of product salesmanship. I couldn't believe how much hardener he used in his filler and how much filler he put on the panel. Made for a lot more work than he needed. When you have been doing it for many years you realize that filler builds a lot more than you think it does. Less is better. Less filler, less sanding, less product, less cost. Wouldn't have to go over it with 36grit if he didn't have to sand so much filler out. He didn't look very experienced at administering filler to me either.
@A. Melbs Not particularly. I don't watch a whole lot of youtube videos on this stuff. I own a body shop and run both ends of the insurance/body work so I stay hooked up. If I come across one I will recommend it to you
Absolutely awesome video! I live in a country where proper workmen are rare and proper tools seem even more rare! But with these explanations and tips I can do alot of the repairs on my car myself. Thanks alot
Does body filler need to be applied to completely clean metal ? Ie. No paint layers left over from sanding, primer ? I guess what im asking is, does every little bit of paint and primer need be removed for body filler to stick to the panel ?
difference between bondo and filler and the colors is the bondo pink and filler is green when to use bondo and when to use filler thank for ur explanation and tutorials
Great instructional video! Thank you. I am the novice DIY guy. I am preparing to prep a 1990 F-150 for a raptor coat. Will the contour premium filler and contour glazing putty work well for prepping for Raptor Coat after I dolly the dents out?
Hey Kevin, have you done any episodes about painting candy pearl,do you do the inside jambs and cab 1st ( on a 67c10), painting the whole outside in 1 shot, or hang all the parts in a line and paint separately,
Sorry; but I have to ask: I heard/seen videos about mixing different compounds(fillers) to make the application of body strengthener more easiest to work with, and was wondering if it is true?
Any issues with contamination putting aluminum filler on steel? I know when we fix aluminum hoods and things we have to be very careful to wrap our hammers and dollies (which are steel) in order to not contaminate the surface. Thanks
So these videos are pretty old we have recently updated our filler offerings: www.eastwood.com/autobody/body-fillers.html We have lightweight and finishing glaze. Lightweight is your standard - use for 90% of repairs filler. Finishing glaze is for smaller imperfections or a final skim coat. We also have a video about just these things here: ruclips.net/video/lbY3cfswiz8/видео.htmlsi=-Tp_0zgGzngzQVD0
Those bumpers are really good at holding their shape or bouncing back with a bit of heat (even just leaving in the sun on a hot day). You can still use standard body filler like our www.eastwood.com/eastwood-contour-premium-body-filler.html if it's kept thin and on non moving parts. Or if your bumpers are really out of shape consider getting some fresh ones.
20:18 Once hardener is in it why use the prep to clean the applicator off? The cured body filler just peals right off. Eastwood products are expensive enough.
How would I go about getting trained to work for the Eastwood company so I can become a professional painter eventually because am a novice now trying to learn auto painting.
Hey guys I love these videos.. but I need some help filling over weld repairs. When I weld panels in how do I treat the welded areas? Do you already have a video on it bc if so I haven't seen it yet. Do I use fiberglass filler straight over the welds then primer, or maybe use an epoxy or rust encapsulater over the welds to hold the moisture out then regular filler over that?? I'm familiar with body work other than over these welds. I ask because I've gotten 2 recently with cracked paint/filler over patch panel welds and upon stripping found new rust under the filler lifting it and the paint. Seems to be a common problem and appearantly the diy'ers are unsure and putting plastic filler straight over these welds. Please tell me the proper way asap as I have one to do this weekend and make a video soon. Thanks guys. Btw I'm a faithful Eastwood customer. Love your company.
got car painted and they got overspray on my exhaust.. How can I get that off?car painted black and they didn't tape off the exhaust underneath.. can see black splatter on exhaust, how can I get that off??
I plan on buying the block sending key that you have. The question is what different sandpapers do I need to start out? I won't actually be signing paint but I will be setting everything else from metal prep, blocking, primer getting ready to send it to the paint shop. I want to be able to buy it by the rolls if possible! Thanks
A question I was curious about was regarding self etching primer. Is it considered to be an "old school" approach to first coating over bare metal? Is it that big of a disadvantage over the new epoxy primer for bare metal coverage?
Remember, generally speaking curing powder requires heating part to nearly 400ºF, so you would need a specialty filler which can withstand that kind of heat.
What's the best filler to use on bare steel? I stripped all the paint off a car to repair all the body panels as well as replace a lot of rotten sheetmetal. While I wait for the sheetmetal to show up, I am working out the debt with a hammer and dolly. Now I need to fill in the small remaining dents and don't have paints to blend into, just bare metal. Thanks.
David Ekleberry You could use the Eastwood Contour Premium Filler or Aluminum-Filled Compound. If you have any pits, don't forget to prep the area with Eastwood Fast Etch, which is going to remove the rust from the pits so it doesn't push back through your filler and paint. Here's a link to the Body Fillers available at Eastwood, and if you'd like to talk to a Tech, you can find info there as well. www.eastwood.com/autobody/body-fillers.html
very informative, ii'm such a rookie i thought it looked good when he first applied the filler and pressed it as he wiped and said to myself oh like that? then he continued to apply more and more and felt lost after it piled up. what is the rule for applying filler over an entire panel it there a certain thickness it must reach or thinner the better? Also does the metal have be tripped or can there be some paint still present?
Crypto Pirate dings you can just put putty but if you can make an inference that you might be able to make it flatter it will be best the less bindi the better
Every time I mix body filler it set up really fast take a filler put it on the metal tray after I mix it put it about the size of a sauser put harder a little less than half the sauser. Across one stream by time I get it mixed its all ready setten up i even tried less harder same thing
Are YOU an Eastwood Guy? Check out this video from Eastwood to find out: Dirty Harry Welder Dream - Stop Dreaming & Get A MIG Welder - Are You An Eastwood Guy?
hi. I mixed and applied bodyfiller with the hardener and I guess I didn't add enough hardner to the mix as it did not solidify and remained pasty. is there anything I can do to this to prevent me from removing all the material and starting over? How do I save all the product already used?
Aldean Louis If it didn't harden properly, you will need to remove all of the filler and start over. Check out this video which may help: ruclips.net/video/i2zCiyNu8wU/видео.html

The signs that people staple to utility poles make excellent and free mixing boards. And you are doing the general public a favor!
I bought the aluminum one from harbor freight. I guess mixing on cardboard isn't a good idea. Because the hardener seeps into the material and doesn't mix properly. Luckly I never had an issue prior to buying a real mixing board.
We used a paint shaker to mix body filler in autobody school. No air bubble problems.
Earth 🌍 to Kevin ? Where are in?? ..., I love how u are real and not just “ pushing “ Eastwood !!!
Man guy is doing a great job and you can tell he loves what he is doing very important
For beginners the video starts at 15:18 (The mixing body filler part). Everything before that is what I consider "Information for experienced people"
It's a whole lot of product salesmanship. I couldn't believe how much hardener he used in his filler and how much filler he put on the panel. Made for a lot more work than he needed. What is the first step buffing or topcoat
Love this guy. “I feel like Bob Ross making a happy little bondo like”. Classic
Fill in those dents with just a little Phthalo Green... 🌲🌄🌳
“Make it rain!!” Hilarious!!!! Authentic commentary!!!

Yes! You will need to topcoat with epoxy primer and then move forward with the rest of the prep sanding it and the bed with 120-180 grit.
I like how Kevin keeps the vids real

Hey Kevin, have you done any episodes about painting candy pearl,do you do the inside jambs and cab 1st ( on a 67c10), painting the whole outside in 1 shot, or hang all the parts in a line and paint separately,

but I have to ask:

Mate, thank you! I had insomnia until I found this channel :)
Can I use short strand fiberglass on top of epoxy primer
Omgosh, he just said "webernet" 🤣 I'm am so using this one! Also, thanks for your teachings
So when it's bare metal, you'd use Bondo, then epoxy, then 2k primer, then paint?
How about investing with this awesome products in Sudan Africa?
Any issues with contamination putting aluminum filler on steel? I know when we fix aluminum hoods and things we have to be very careful to wrap our hammers and dollies (which are steel) in order to not contaminate the surface. Thanks
Good question
Hi EW. What should I put over a firewall smoothie panel that I welded in place. It is a stitch weld with some holes & gaps. Thanks
Hi Eastwood, I am curious about the difference between featherweight and lightweight:
Is it the same product/meaning?
So these videos are pretty old we have recently updated our filler offerings: www.eastwood.com/autobody/body-fillers.html

What body filler should i used for plastic and wood, i am doing a custom dash for my truck
81 firebird. What would you use on the bumper front and back? I'm sure it's the flexible filler but gotta ask the experts
Those bumpers are really good at holding their shape or bouncing back with a bit of heat (even just leaving in the sun on a hot day). Or you can use Bondo over epoxy but it has to be within a day or 2?
I have a bad habbit of taping off the area I'm working on
Can you apply body filler over rust converter? And can you apply body filler over gray primer, regardless of the primer mfg?
Lol might be an old video but its nice to see someone have fun while doing there job your awesome
I still watch your pantucation videos kevin... man that wild mid/late 90's grunge hair just love it lol

What do you recommend for an old '72 240Z? The side panel has about a 1/4 inch depth change.
Hi kevin great work that you doin and I have a question for you can I replace the regular body filler with the fiber body filler
use evercoat or duraglass over weld seams its flexible an water proof
got car painted and they got overspray on my exhaust.. How can I get that off?car painted black and they didn't tape off the exhaust underneath.. can see black splatter on exhaust, how can I get that off??
WPGinterceptor lacquer thinner and a rag or clay towel/bar and water

What body filler would you use for a fiberglass corvette.?
Hi do you sell 2k primer on spray can? Great video
So where is Kevin now? I think he's brilliant at these videos?
bondo yellow? just no grey, lead alum bondo?? old chevy need help.
A question I was curious about was regarding self etching primer. Is it considered to be an "old school" approach to first coating over bare metal? Is it that big of a disadvantage over the new epoxy primer for bare metal coverage?
Can these be used to hide defects before Powder Coating?
Remember, generally speaking curing powder requires heating part to nearly 400ºF, so you would need a specialty filler which can withstand that kind of heat.
Shouldn't you spray epoxy on the bare metal first, otherwise it will sweat under the filler and rust?

Heat throw some heat on it maybe it’s to cold.
I got a 1958 Ford F-100. Working on it
Do you spray clear or basecoat with 1.7 tip???
how to fix small rust bubbles around my rear wheel well
once the bondo has been layed down on the surface do you want to add primer right away before you add base
This guy is awesome
Smart but a riot to watch. Fun video
Lacquer thinner works to clean to
I think those bondo fumes got Kevin feeling groove.lol
15:56 It's cheaper to use a wood chisel to scrape of the extra body filler.
Thank you. You're a Great teacher.
must be cool in there cause in georgia it would be too much hardener!!
Definitely need to curtail it to your environment!
when you prep around a dent, how far do you go?
You need to go out beyond the affected area and feather.
By feathering do you mean going from a 36/40 grit to 80 and then up to 180 or so??
