Nov 2024. Friend passed away last year. This was his favourite song. Came here to remember him... and cry 😢
So true that only once you're gone, only then people will miss you...
See you on the other side, dude...
condolences *hugs*, I bet you friend is shining in the sky and sending you lots of positive energy.
Perfection. Top band. Top lyrics. Top tunes. Top people. Plus, Steve C. was and probably still is one of the best guitarists ever!
An absolute belter - even in 2024
THE most underrated guitarist
One of the best songs ever. Memories of a misspent youth
I agree, I have not heard this song for a good while now. It brings back great memories I'd love to visit again. 👍
Your bang on there mukka 👍
They were and still are the BEST forgotten band of all time.
Simply magnificent
I wouldn't say forgotten .. but yes, simply magnificent.
After I Am Kloot!
Pure nostalgia listening to this.. 😔
🌟 Totally mate 👍
Not forgotten, mate.
Brit pop was one of the greatest scenes in the history of music. I swear there are just so many of these amazing britpop bands with countless hits!
Sometimes you forget how good this is.
Went to see them a couple of weeks ago, they're just as amazing as they've always been. What a bloody night
Saw them at Wembley in the late 90's.
Fuck I used to be young.
sad damon isnt in the band now😢but i agree they’ve still got it!
Being British, i know it couldnt have been sunny and hot every day in 1996...nostalgia hey. The music made it feel that way. I really miss the different genres of music from the 90's.
No better song thats better for just sitting on the beach and just not having a care in the world
I'm fifteen and discovered this song a few months ago during quarantine... music used to be really good back in the 90s, I think these kind of music has been my best pandemic discovery.
Check out luck man by the Verve. Or drops of Jupiter by train
Great taste you have as others have said check out all 90s
There was a lot of great music in the 90s, but also a lot of terrible music. That's the thing about the past, the further away from it you are, the easier it is to see the good and forget the bad. In 20 years people will be talking about how great today's music is
If you like ocean colour scene then you would definitely like oasis literally the same type of music just a bit more rock and roll
They thought oasis and verve under rated Guinness band don't do advertisement underground indie class go to an inhamit gig Ile see :)
They were and still are the BEST forgotten band of all time.
Simply magnificent
These songs don't age. Sounds just as current now as it did 20 years ago.
One of the best summers of my life. 15, not a care in the world. The sun was shining, the summer lasted forever...why is nostalgia so bloody painful 😫
Don’t be sad, be happy it happened! 🌞
@@LittleBanditMicra absolutely 😁❤️
I know what you mean, I was 17 and live was so much easier then. The 90s were a great era to be a teen in :)
@@MusicLoverGirlie take us back ❤️😂
Oh man, the 90s were the best time to be a teen.
My best mate sent me a voice clip of this track today, the memories 🥂🥂💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼
96, I was 22 loving life, own place no child, no responsibilities life was a constant party but we could walk in & out of jobs! No surveillance every move we made!!!
Loadsa mates, more love & a better generation.
Last of the old school ❤️
Amen to that 🤘👌👍
Uh, don't worry, it's 2022 and my daughter still deals with 20 somethings where she works who "walk in and out of jobs" and where life is "a constant party".. hah hah!
Amen summed up perfectly 😀
@@silasmarner7586 I usually hate the 'it was better in my day' comments, but to be honest 96 was the best year I've ever seen in the UK for being young.
kinda makes me sad as a gen z kid lol
One of the most underrated bands. At least in the history books..
💯
Summer 96, last year at university, Britpop, Euro 96, this song is the definition on this time in my life and how awesome it was.
Same, just love it, so many happy memories whenever i hear it
My favourite song and the summer of 96 was my favourite summer.. Leaving school, parties, Euro 96. Brilliant.
Dad loved this song I always come to listen to it when i miss him❤️
That's really sweet. Sometimes I can't listen to music my dad liked *because* it makes me miss him. Especially Turin Brakes - the Optimist LP
@@liamwhite2904 yeah it’s hard to listen even though the song comforts me, sorry for your loss
Life is never the same..
Revelation 21:4
I'm a lot older than you, but I feel your pain, I come back to this song as it reminds me of my teenage years when my Father was alive and well, I lost my father last year, there isn't a day goes by, it doesn't break my heart!❤
The 90s were great and pretty much the last laidback generation before mobile phones. You actually had some time to chill without being tracked and interrupted every minute. Great band and a timeless song.
Summer of 1996. What I wouldn't give to go back to them. Great music from a really underrated band.
+TheGuyWithTheBratzDollz I feel sorry for your dad, it's obvious you have no taste in music.
Why are you on commenting on a genre you don't like? I don't go around viewing on commenting on dance and hip hop etc as I hate it so have nothing to say. It's a lesson you could definitely learn
Everyone has an opinion. I think dance and hip hop are shit so even if I was shared on it tagged etc I'd rise above and ignore it.
No one under rates them.
The glorious summer of 96, football, 18 month old baby son and this kind of music. ❤
One of the greatest songs of the 90's!
Summer 96 nostalgia.....love it!!! take me back ❤
B4 the wrinkles...
@@thedeewolf😂 brilliant
💔
Didn't appreciate it at the time.. but the heatwave and euro 96 plus week after week of great music being released...
England was a great place to be at the time 💪🏾
This is so nostalgic, reminds me of summer days with lads, kicking footy and having a few beers, rugby takling each other in beer garden. Was also at my brothers best mates funeral so it brings so much nostalgia and it's bittersweet
met my man in the summer of 96, lots of adventures and two amazing kids later we are off to see this lot in December, can't wait, this song takes me back to one of the most special times of my life, love you Wisky Tom
Don't we all miss real good music?
Melinda, I think of you every time I hear Ocean Colour Scene. I'm sorry I never sent you any paintings. Life got in the way. Your love lives in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know you. This is years late, and you were too young. Thank you for introducing me to this wonderful music. ❤
Lost count the amount of times i’ve watched OCS live, yet they remain quality class
Mid 90's was an amazing time for music.
Love the Brit pop scene in 90's. Had a blast living there at that time and was right there when all the best bands came out
Summer 96. One of the best yrs of my life. What a time to be alive
This is music, its got soul, its got meaning, its got the power to take you right back to the first time you heard it, the moment it was written it was an instant classic.
Couple of of lines
Yes it is great music and it's got soul but as for meaning??
the lyrics? what are they actually about? having fun on a day catching the train?? Or wrighting a song like Jimmy's day we caught the train??
.....I don't know? it's a bit lame
Also really makes me wanna sit on a riverbank in the sun and smoke a j
This old tune will never die!
When you find things are getting wild, don't you want days like these ?
The mixing on this track is phenomenal
90s were my favourite decade by far but then I was in my teens early 20s. Great music, friends, women, drugs and no responsibility. 90s were my generations 60s. I feel sorry for the teens of today. You don't know what you missed
Kids these days don't know a thing about how good things where, people still had common sense,.I think it was like our generations version of the 60s..lots gear and good times.
Here Here, take me back to the 90s
The 80s will always be the best decade
I was born 77 so it was late 80s and all through 90s for me.i love all genres of music as my dad always had the golden oldies on.we are the last generation for a lot of things especially before technology took over.im actually sad for my children and future generations.
Nostalgic for the '90's already! Happier times.
1996,,,what a year to be alive,,,no i phones no guns ,, virtually no crime,,but we had music and love,,i would be astonished if that time would return,,,,1996,,,BEAUTIFUL 🎶♥️🎶♥️🎶♥️🎶♥️🎶♥️🎶♥️
No guns? I take it you’re not from Scotland 😂
@@KevinHalbert-rf5tg😅😮😮
When kids used to play outside. Thank god I'm an 80s baby
The year I met my wife.. Wonderful times my friend, everything you say is spot on.. 👍
@@KevinHalbert-rf5tg A sad sad day that year 😢
ICONIC
This song never gets old, love it still even after all this time. Great song & such a great band.
Born in the 80's, lived in the 90's. 2021 is the antithesis of 1996 - I sure wish my kids could grow up back then.
When life was great... Good times
This has just become a class song, its got better with time.
This song needs to go on for like, 2 or 3 minutes longer. Such a banger
RIP Jack Anwyl, it was the best to see you perform this bro!
What a band , such a tune. May you all live forever 🙏
Still listen to 90s music on daily basis and watch cheesey 90s movies. I will never let that golden decade of happiness escape.
90's, what a time to be a youngster
This song is so timeless along with the riverboat song. It's like something Kings of Leon wish they'd written today
Isn't sad that we don't have music in the charts like this any more its out there just not in the charts thanks Simon
Way ahead of their time: already riding scooters in 1996. What a song! Spent 2 weeks in London that summer, just going out and seeing shows. Absolutely fell in love with the UK music scene then...
Definitely listening in 2024 .xxxx Brilliant. X❤
Ah the 90's..the summers were hot and never ending!
OMG I've been searching for this song for ages. The chorus is beautiful and iconic
This is one of the better Beatles covers I've heard.
One of the greatest bands of the 90's golden era. Would've been bigger but the mighty Oasis stole the whole show from everyone. Oasis and Blur were like the 90's version of Beatles and Stones and OCS were the Who... GREAT DAYS!! Bring back those days!!!!
And Supergrass were The Small Faces
@@alexmacleod3728 And Mansun were?
@@marcharrison1970 shit
Their best songs (including this) I love as much if not more than f√¢ked out Oasis song's, who I love.
@@marcharrison1970Mansun were a great band of this era - Wide Open Space
Because their music was so retro when it first came out , it hasn't really aged in the intervening quarter century
Damn this is such an amazing song, truly a classic.
Beautiful
These guys are my scooter mentors. Every day when I ride my scooter I think of them.
Banga of a track 💯❤️❤️❤️took me straight back to the mid 90s 💯❤️❤️❤️❤️
The sound of this song reminds me of one of the greatest times of my life. Had this on a mixed tape in my car in the summer of 96 and riding the coast with Kate L❤
summer of 96, really a great song, they deserve more recognition, I hope they are doing great
This album was the soundtrack to my late teens early 20's & it always brings back great memories.
Thank you ocean colour scene for such a a good album.
Moseley coloured Shoals
you dont know how lucky you are in the u.k. and the states your access to seeing great bands like this
Ben Shirman shirts. Pod shoes. Embassy No1's. Kangol hats. Merrydown cider. Great music. 90s were the best.
Quality days. Always appreciate the now it goes to show
Pod shoes LOL
Ha ha yeah and the Kickers :)
Especially Merrydown cider!
Pod, or spelt backwards - dope:)
This was one of my favorite songs back in 1996. Brings back good memories… just got my driving license that summer and was straightaway travelling to the Mediterranean with friends. Had Moseley Shoals on heavy rotation.
This tune brings back some truly awesome memoires
I used to love this band, I'd totally forgotten about them.
Crazy how I'd totally forgotten this band existed for the last 15 years... then I hear that intro chord and here I am, singing along and remembering every single word. Great band, great tune
I've got no real reason to be emotionally attached to this song (too young when it came out, etc.) but I still feel weirdly nostalgic when I hear it - it must just be one of those melodies.
I know exactly what you mean, although I was probably a bit too old in 1996 (I was already 32!). I can't believe this was more than a quarter of a century ago. Good times back then.
Absolutely brilliant 96 was simply the best
Reminds me of a school trip back in 1996, and listening to this for the first time on my discman, on the bus, while watching the beautiful landscapes go by. How did 20 years pass so quickly?
Kyrkos CCFC Cov city!!!
I know mate, bloody scary aint it!!🙁
@@RobWitchdoctor Could be Cardiff City.
Right?! I know...
What I do on my trip back and forth to schooll
What a song what a era …. But look what we are left with sad times
Ah this takes me back. They were a perfect fit for that whole mid 90s retro thing. Steve Craddock is a genius.
Love this song, going away for a week & acting like big kids that we all are at heart. Grow up next week when we go back to work x
A brilliant song to hear live. I love the 90s!
Most underrated song ever
I loved the 90’s one of the best times ever
Ocean Color scene is so damn underrated
What a great kind of music and this very song has only 30k listeners/month on spotify. What a shame....
Nostalgic!! Teen yrs all coming back, when music was awesome
Eyes are watering listening to this, thinking back to the 90s and how good things were. Them days are long gone and the world is a much worse place now. I wish I could relive them years again so badly
2019 and still loving this...ffs. Loads of us were there, drinking up the 90s. Soaking in its amazing glory. Wearing a NaffCo54 bomber. Getting pogs. Swapping footy stickers, at least 3 for a shiny. We were winning, we had momentum. Great summers, great childhoods. Take me back........
Who’s still listening to this top band in 2024
This is deffo taking me back to senior year of high school.
I will always will be in love with Britpop. 🤘🏻
Responsible for some of the best songs of the mid 90's and beyond. This up there with What's the Story and Everything must Go.
100%...
OH MY DAYZ - THE NOSTALGIA!!!
It's equal to the power of the choon :-)
1996 was just the best year to be in the UK. Amazing music, none stop gigging, the Euro Champs in the Summer....Ah to be 21 again!
1967 and 1994 are better i thik
I was 20/21 as well... "those were the days" would be too commonplace a thing for me to say, but certainly something has a melancholy point to it
I'm a Yank who spent most of '95-'96 in the UK - mostly Manchester and Sheffield. Never saw OCS, but this song brings back great memories of sharing a haircutter with Liam and the Modfather.
1996 What a badass Summer that was man. Wish i could go back life was so much easier and chilled out. to think was still bustin a Spliffy Jacket and thought i looked Cool hahaha wouldnt change those days for the world :) Respect to all 80s/90s Crew
Spliffy jackets waheeeeey :-)
HewzyLFC they took his spliff away after a while. sad times :(
+Craig Dent They got banned at our school
why?
scrap that comment ...
this is my childhood music - I'm sooo privileged thank you OCC. Respect xxx
Best band, for me anyway 😄 awesome live !! Grateful that had chance to grow up with these guys and the other greats
90s wish I was still there no kids drugs and alcohol no responsibility
Lyrically miles ahead of some bands in that time and musically also ranging and experimental. These guys were great
Are Great.
And from Birmingham
Wow - what a song. Smashes most oasis songs.
Another AMAZING tune from THE SCENE bar none, oh except GOT IT BAD. Ive defo GOT IT BAD for these boys. Something magical happens when they play together. Do you all agree?
Please take me back to the 90s, I wish I could just step into this video.
Fun Fact: 90% of the budget for this video was spent on bucket hats.
This one of my first favourite Indie songs... Love this nostalgia❤
Been listening to a lot of 90s music recently. Maybe it’s because it was ‘my era’ but music seemed so much better then
It was indeed much better ... Lightning Seeds, Radiohead etc
I miss the 90s so bad. Seriously no decade has came close since
This is the most 90s thing I've ever seen.
+Yimello Definitely , i was 21 brings back all my memories. Still listening 24/10/2015
+Yimello It's extremely similar to beatles actually...
+Yimello too much beatles-oriented for being a 90s thing
+Serj Tell that to Oasis!!!
+Serj I noticed this as well
The most amazing time of my life for music. Euro '96 as well, probably the best days of my life!
