It takes incredible skill to make a really good driving song with an off-rythmn like this. ANd to make the words drive it to and work with the rythmn. Incredible song.
@JOHNNORTHBRADY I feel like investing in a fisherman's hat and walking around like Liam Gallagher now. Nevermind the fact I'm a woman with dreadlocks down to her arse. I think I can pull it off! 😂
And that's where they got their album name Moseley Shoals, Moseley is a place just round the corner from me in Basal Heath lol. The album cover for Moseley Shoals was shot in Leamington Spa in the Jephsons Gardens, by the monument. I remember that day vividly as me and my brother used to shout into the monument for echos but on that particular day the monument and a few more ares were cordoned off.. me and my brother were way annoyed but looking back and listening to their music now, I'm not so annoyed.. plus I'm 38 now and the older you get the more you appreciate music, well decent Rock anyway. Ps I am originally from Leamington Spa born and bred, but I moved to brum
Ocean Colour scene is from Solihull 🇬🇧 I saw them live summer 1992 at the Digbeth Irish centre Birmingham. I was pregnant so every time I hear any of their songs reminds me of my son growing up in the 90’s
reminds me of getting ready on a Friday night to go out, watching TFI Friday, hoping for a great band to be playing & just feeling the joy of being young & partying at the weekend.
Same here Camille ,worked all week just to let rip from Friday to Sunday loved the 90s spent a lot of money on hangovers ,would do it all again in a heartbeat
I was a lad in LA when I heard OCS was coming. I went to their site to get the dates and dropped them a line on their contact email how much I appreciated them coming over the pond. A day or so later I got a reply from Steve Craddock. He asked about LA and we traded emails for a bit. A down to earth sweetheart. Great show btw. Core memory.
It took me 20 years to find this album again. 1997 Dahab Egypt, a diving student of mine lent us a blank tape with (O.C.S) written in black felt to play at the dive center rental counter. When she left she gave me the tape as a tip, as new music was impossible to find in that tiny diving town it was Dahab Gold. This album became a praised possession the dive center for several months and a prized of mine for several years. In the early 2000's it was lost during a midnight move. To this day i am not sure how or where but the loss has never sat well with me. All those years ago on the beach Cloe told me the name of the band so i knew that i knew it, but could never to quite grasp it....until I happened across the intro to a film i had seen before, Snatch. A quick wiki search and i found something i had resigned as lost forever. Its funny how a simple song or album can bring back thoughts, ideas, and memories you presumed to be lost if even ever considered. Thanks for the great music and an anchor to a time in my life i hope never to forget....again
That's brilliant. I hate it when you forget a song or a band like that. I remember going into a shipping centre and hearing a song from the past. I didn't know the name but I kept it in my head all day so I could search the lyrics. Forgot it before I got home. That was 17 years ago and I still don't know the song! It was one of those songs as well, like returning to you're soul. I needed that fucking song!
I know what you mean. I was just watching a RUclips video and a small section of one of their songs was played and I instantly knew it was from a band I used to love but had forgotten the band name and song names. I had to hum the tune to find a small section of lyrics then typed it into Google and Ocean Colour Scene came up. Such a good band I'd forgotten about but they were buried in my memory.
The photo shoot for that album was shot in my home town Leamington Spa in the Jephsons Gardens, the album cover shows the band members stood in front of the monument in the jephsons
One of the most underrated bands. Seen them in 2002 support oasis, they were the far superior band and easily outplayed Oasis. Ocs are easily one of the best bands I seen live.
They were by far the most accomplished musicians of the britpop era. I saw support Oasis twice in 1996 and they blew them and every band on the bill away.
hear hear, I probably wouldn't, however, like Oasis as much now as I did then but this band were great. A lot of 90s bands were pretty good compared to today's pop bile.
@@clothilde1623 I feel like it would have been better to be teenager though. This music means a lot to me, being born in '92, but the post millennium rave scene as good as it was would have been nothing compared to what the 90's had to offer. Add to that all the brilliant indie bands. I feel robbed, I won't lie.

Moseley Shoals right up there with Urban Hymns, Morning Glory, Weller, & Roses.
Agreed! That album should not be glossed over, its fucking brilliant and totally individual.
Totally right up with those mate, without a doubt.

A Storm in Heaven > Urban Hymns
