This song has such a special meaning for me. When I was taking guitar lessons there was this teacher that was looking like a normal classy guy who wouldn’t have a clue about the grunge music genre. When he was setting up his lectern I started playing the intro from Heart Shaped Box by Nirvana, and he suddenly stopped what he was doing and asked me if I was into this kind of music. I immediately told him that grunge/metal were my two favorite kinds of music. When I said that he put on the biggest smile on his face and firmly shook my hand. After that, he sobbed and recommended to me to listen to ‘Black Whole Sun’ by Soundgarden; a band that I’ve never heard before at the time. He specified that this song helped him go through a lot in his early teen years and that I would definitely check it out. And here I am, still listening to this 5 years onwards and continue to have the same chills... Oh what a beautiful piece....

@@aaronmk7 this is the step past that. The lyrics are written from the perspective of a crushed man wishing the void take everything away. "In my youth pray to keep, heaven come take hell away no one sings like you anymore pretty sure he's just fucking "done". Never noticed that before. Norah Jones did this as a tribute and fuck me, Chris nailed the perfect representation of hopelessness and loss so severe life being sucked into Oblivion is enviable. Beautifully expressed
This is still my favorite song even after 26 years since it was released. I think it is about horrible loss, unspeakable anguish, and the darkest night of the soul and yet somehow still trancending it all with incredible heart and determination. I think that is at the very core of me and who I am and have always been so far. 🖤 And it speaks that there is goodness to be found even in the blackest most emptiest void of the darkest night.
Past 25-26 years for that currently live us this song, with this pandemic and quarantine in the full World. Chris adviced us a lot of years ago and today, this more vigent its containts and his legend. We hope that as soon as possible will finish this strange and this virus created for the mankind

I remember when this came out and being mesmerized by the video still blows me away such beauty and his voice is amazing gives me chills every time miss you Chris 🖤
Chris Cornell ... The beauty and the power of your voice sets my mind, body, and soul on fire ... Too many moments to count when listening to you, no matter what band or if solo, where I experience shivers running from head to toe ... Now that is how one feels life their veins! It's the best high ever ... Your presence on Earth, even if cut short, was a gift. And lucky for our world, your voice lives on eternally. (Side note: How many MALE "rock" singers can A- genuinely sing and B- with that range? High or low, the energy his voice exudes is always there. And you can understand the lyrics! That combination may be rarer than an albino tiger ... Chris Cornell and Robert Plant take the top two in my book. Chris Robinson has his moments. Always open to suggestions but they better be damn. freaking. good.)
All the characters in this video, save the band, only care about themselves. I don't know why it took me more than 20 years to figure this out. Chris was a smart, deep man.
Chris was a creative guy, with a great voice. but underneath his talent and his creativity was a dark depression. a depression he clearly struggled with for a very long time. Soundgarden's lyrics come from places of sadness and pain. creative people will often use art as a way to express themselves. through their pain, they create beautiful music. the words are poetic, the sound is something you never get tired of. but with their creativity, comes hurt and often depression. the depression pushes some artists to where they feel they can't fight it any longer. despite all the positive things that surround the artist, money, talent and fame, their sadness can make it all look and feel like nothing. Chris was a unique guy with an incredible voice. it is sad he didn't get help. this song is a song you never forget and never get tired of listening to
"You brought light on my darkest moments; from a broken generation we came; you are in fact too perfect for life, shine on my dear Chris, you are the sky , the heaven, the rock, the voice, the eyes, the presence, the strength for others, other broken souls....like mine..." - Anonymous. RIP, Chris. ♥
Looking back I can't help to think that although Grunge music was depressing, the 90s were actually a happy era - it was after the cold war and before the war on terror
corrupt pile of ass war on terror. I hate everything about it. maybe the Politian's should be forced to listen to grunge before making any decisions that kills thousands of people.

Heaven send Hell away
No one sings like you anymore
[Chorus]
Black hole sun, won't you come
And wash away the rain?
Black hole sun, won't you come?
Won't you come?
Black hole sun, won't you come
And wash away the rain?
Black hole sun, won't you come?
Won't you come?
[Post-Chorus]
Black hole sun, black hole sun
Won't you come?
Black hole sun, black hole sun
Won't you come?
Black hole sun, black hole sun
Won't you come?
Black hole sun, black hole sun
[Guitar Solo]
[Verse 3]
Hang my head, drown my fear
Till you all just disappear
[Chorus]
Black hole sun, won't you come
And wash away the rain?
Black hole sun, won't you come?
Won't you come?
Black hole sun, won't you come
And wash away the rain?
Black hole sun, won't you come?
Won't you come?
[Post-Chorus]
Black hole sun, black hole sun
Won't you come?
Black hole sun, black hole sun
Won't you come?
Black hole sun, black hole sun
Won't you come?
Black hole sun, black hole sun
Won't you come?
Black hole sun, black hole sun
Won't you come?
Black hole sun, black hole sun
Won't you come?
Won't you come?
Thx man

The song Christians being sucked into a black hole. I am a christian and I still love this song
Me2
Harder Daddy Good comment.love this song.
This song really helped me through a lot of pain, and its beautiful isnt it, that you can create something that helps probably thousands of people, but when it came to chris, i guess nothing was there to help him. Rip chris, thank you so much ❤️
Jill Chambers but this song is about depression.
Knowing that there was nothing to help you is what hurts me the most!
The legend of rock, Chris Cornell. 🕊️🕊️
back when a song could be longer than three minutes and I'd still watch it until the end. RIP Chris you are my biggest inspiration!
We hope that as soon as possible will finish this strange and this virus created for the mankind
lay off the hyperbole, it's unbecoming
I've been through hell and back, exactly how you said it.
Yes brother light will always exist. innocence will always exist. even when we desire the darkness.
yet the song means nothing... said by Cornell himself
If you remember this song
you are not old
You are high quality vintage .
@ 4:33 "The world was ending, but I was not going to quit halfway through a set."

13sharonj check out ritchie kotzen. He sounds like him even better😊 Peace!
Most of the music being made nowadays sounds like shit! I wish I was born in your generation!
We probably just need to start trying to make music that doesn't suck ourselves.
It seems to refer to Lennon, who would have loved this song, so psychedelic, Lennon-like.
Cornell loved the Beatles. When you listen to a lot of his songs, you can hear the influence.
I'm here AFTER the great American Eclipse from Ohio April 8th 2024 I have always loved this Jam 😎💪🇺🇸☄️🕳️
The greatest predictive song of Soundgarden. I love it.
This song came out when I was a kid and it is still so GOOD!
After watching, I didn’t sleep, smoke all night, think a lot and cried...
My sons mom water broke right before I had to drive fast as hell, and this is the song that played during the drive.
I remember singing it, and every time it plays, it reminds of the moment my son was being born.
J Skyler U 🤟🏾
Times are gone for honest men.
In my youth I pray to keep.
What a lucky boy
That's awesome

I was 10 years old when this masterpiece came out, my life has changed since then. R.I.P Chris Cornell 💔

I Remember The First Time I Saw This & Heard This On MTV - I Was 10 Years Old & It Terrified Me & Enchanted Me All At Once! There Are Very Few Firsts Like This For Me - Chris Is A GENIUS! RIH Fellow Light-Warrior! (& Kurt & Chester)

It’s about embracing the worlds end, washing away everyone with it. because he can’t deal with how fucked up & corrupt it is. what a song 🕊
So happy I got to experience this album and music video at 8 years old. My older brother said check this video out, i was like whoa.
I can’t believe there’s only 17 million views this is a masterpiece
There are only so many who can understand.
256 million on the first video posted. This is a remaster
Definitely the best Soundgarden song OF ALL TIME.
This is the best rock video ever
Always open to suggestions but they better be damn. freaking. good.)
I remember being like 8 waking up to this song in my dads Camero, he was driving around in a city. At night. ah, good memories. This was 6 years ago.

Chris Cornell, you are missed Brother.
Gone from this World, but Not Forgotten.
RIP Chris
And he will be Resurrected
@@burnellmcqueen9282 how?
All the characters in this video, save the band, only care about themselves. I don't know why it took me more than 20 years to figure this out. Chris was a smart, deep man.
The soundtrack of my golden youth.
Who else was watching and listening to Soundgarden on MTV in 1994!
Ruben Delgadillo Back when Music Television actually played music videos.
Ruben Delgadillo I was back when mtv played American music
Yes mate, except i was only 9 though haha
Faithfully hating my adolescent life as I got dressed for school.
I wish I was old enough then to experience this greatness firsthand
Chris was a unique guy with an incredible voice. it is sad he didn't get help. this song is a song you never forget and never get tired of listening to
This song gets me through some of my darker days... May it live on forever
"You brought light on my darkest moments; from a broken generation we came; you are in fact too perfect for life, shine on my dear Chris, you are the sky , the heaven, the rock, the voice, the eyes, the presence, the strength for others, other broken souls....like mine..." - Anonymous. RIP, Chris. ♥

Music video producer: “how weird do you want your music video”?
Chris Cornell: “yes”

Great song. Takes me back to when I was 14. Rest in peace Chris Cornell, you were a brilliant man xxx
Every one was 14 when they found his huh.
I found his at 14 too.
Blaring This on Outside Speakers now. Seems fitting.
This song in the morning with a nice joint and coffee 🍸👌🏿
Looking back I can't help to think that although Grunge music was depressing, the 90s were actually a happy era - it was after the cold war and before the war on terror
corrupt pile of ass war on terror. I hate everything about it. maybe the Politian's should be forced to listen to grunge before making any decisions that kills thousands of people.
lewigimole lewisyeomans damn how I agree with u, those greedy politicians are fucking up our life's, they should relax for god sake
It seems you are forgetting the Yugoslavian Civil War, one of the most horrific wars in recent history...
Elizabeth Hogan
As bad as it sounds, that war was never documented in the history books i read in school, as a classman of 2010. Yay for US censorship.
more like ignorance not censorship
2 years already.....we all miss you so much❤❤❤R.I.P Chris
Genuinley only came across this song last year. I think I was a couple years too young for soungarden at the time, but Holy shit how has it taken me this long. One of the best vocalists of all time. R.I.P.
