This has to be one of the most underrated bands, and underrated songs from the 90s by a distance. They were such a great band, and this song never fails to lift my mood!
Saw them perfoming some days ago and I am still jumping up and down! THEY KILLED IT!! Brett is still so awesome after all these years, had the best communication with the crowd
I saw Suede on this Music video for the first time in 1996 around midnight .. I WAS BLOWN AWAY.. and the rest is history... one of y favorite bands.. Great Musicians.. Great Band.. I have heard this song probably a million times.. and I realized I'm still not tired of it..
Use to go to an Indie pub years ago and they played tunes like this. You never wanted to leave there. I celebrated my 40th in that pub and it was a great nite. Them days are gone now.
I remember collecting all Suede videos on VHS in the 90's. These days teenagers are so lucky to have internet & youtube. You can watch what ever you want when ever you want :)
But our youth was the better, they, now have all in a click.. You and me had be hours in the tv for recording the video in vhs xDD I still have the videotapes :)
god, this song reminds me of the most beautiful time of my life... i miss those times when you're like 15,16,17 years old, not a baby anymore but not an adult either, you're in between, and your life is entirely before you and you feel hopeful, you look before you and you know that everything is going to be alright in the end...
Such a powerful and unique song... 'Cant stop listenig to this... first thing I heard was trash, and Brett's voice made me fly.... good things never fades!!
During the very first time that my ears have caught the infectious sound of the rad, explosive and brash guitar riffs blaring loudly on the local radio station while riding a bus on my way to the university, which was 24 months ago, let me tell you something: I knew by then that I have fallen completely in love with this very beautiful and catchy song by Suede. You can't blame me, it's entrancing. Two years later, and I still haven't moved on.
I found it quite interesting looking up the meaning for this song. A lot of places say it is kind of mocking the culture of young people at the time and all of the stupid stuff they do. But the song reminds me of an experiment I remember reading about. It was an experiment on the effects of overpopulation in mice. Once this enclosure that all the mice were kept reached a certain "overcrowded-ness" these male mice stopped fighting and courting the female mice . They just ate, drank and slept. The researcher called them "the beautiful ones" because they didn't have any scars and were so well groomed because they didn't do anything. And this is what I think of when I listen to this songs. All of the habits of young people today(or back then, but not that different to be honest) described in the song fit quite well with the beautiful ones in the experiment. Funny how the song is called beautiful ones, as well.
High on diesel and gasoline Psycho for drum machine Shaking their bits to the hits, oh oh Drag acts, drug acts, suicides In your dad's suits you hide Staining his name again Cracked up, stacked up, twenty-two Psycho for sex and glue Lost it to Bostik, yeah Shaved heads, rave heads, on the pill Got too much time to kill Get into bands and gangs, oh Here they come The beautiful ones The beautiful ones La la la la Here they come The beautiful ones The beautiful ones La la la la la La la, loved up, doved up, hung around Stoned in a lonely town Shaking their meat to the beat High on diesel and gasoline Psycho for drum machine Shaking their bits to the hits, oh Here they come The beautiful ones The beautiful ones La la la la Here they come The beautiful ones The beautiful ones You don't think about it You don't do without it Because you're beautiful And if your baby's are going crazy That's how you made me, la la And if your baby's are going crazy That's how you made me, woh oh And if your baby's are going crazy That's how you made me La la la la la La la, la la la la la la la La la la la la la La la la la, la la la, oh La la, la la la la la la la La la la la la la La la la la, la la la, oh La la, la la la la la la la La la la la la la La la la la, la la la, oh La la, la la la la la la la La la la la la la La la la la, la la la, oh La la, la la la la la la la La la la la la la La la la la, la la la, oh La la, la la la la la la la La la la la la la La la la la, la la la, oh
One of my favourite tracks - I feel so nostalgic hearing this. Suede will always hold a VERY special place in my heart, the amount of times I sang this on repeat after it was on 'the greatest hits of '96'... As a little kid with absolutely no idea what it meant. Now I'm older, wow. such a special song!

I saw them 2 weeks at the Cliffs in Southend and they were absolutely what you'd expect from them on stage and much more. They are about the loudest band I've ever heard play lol. Brett really gets the crowd going and frequently climbs over the barriers and mixes with the punters mid song. Oh man what a gig! I'll defo be seeing Suede in concert again! I highly recommend going to see them if you get the chance ;)
Finally, I find this official music video!!! I heard this song about a few months ago when I saw television, this song as back sound. I'm in love at first heard :-) PS : With love from Yogyakarta, Indonesia :-)

This music video is as good as they get. A simple idea executed with high regard to the details, but not too over the top. Just awesome!

Drag acts, drug acts, suicides
In your dad's suits you hide

The beautiful ones
The beautiful ones
La la la la
Here they come
The beautiful ones
The beautiful ones
La la la la la
La la, loved up, doved up, hung around
Stoned in a lonely town
Shaking their meat to the beat
High on diesel and gasoline
Psycho for drum machine
Shaking their bits to the hits, oh
Here they come
The beautiful ones
The beautiful ones
La la la la
Here they come
The beautiful ones
The beautiful ones
You don't think about it
You don't do without it
Because you're beautiful

The middle segment of this season is PURE BOWIE!
I am having a bit of bumps in life, this song came up in radio.
I am feeling much better now, thanks.
I've always loved the camera shot at the beginning of the chorus, when the camera draws closer to the band. Just perfect.
Esta canción, me acompaño en mis tiempos de Centro de Lima - Perú.

la, la, la, la...
Beautiful song
Thanks for the lyrics, it I believe it’s “kicking their meat to the beat”. Not to sound pedantic 😂
Brett's voice is higher than I could ever hope to sing
Hear him sing live.
The guitarist has to detune his guitar by a semitone because Brett can't hit the note.
But seriously, how beautiful is Brett?
yum yum!! x
+Yasmin Shelton he's handsome xD
+Yasmin Shelton You are much more beautiful than him...:)
+Yasmin Shelton Handsome man. And I'm hetero:)
+Yasmin Shelton My aching loins say very. I feel the same way about Bowie when he was a thin white duke.
I'm a fan of suede since 1996 and still fan...
This song really rocks especially bass line is fantastic!
Awesome song
This is always on the radio! I love IT!!!
"Lost it to Bostik, yeah". Oh Suede, never ever change.
