This is my summer of 1989. Working in a record shop in Bristol where this was on constant repeat play. Where I met the lovely woman who was to become my girlfriend and then my wife. Twenty blissful years and then cancer takes her. Can't listen to this without simultaneous tears and gratitude.
You were adored for 20 years. A very fortunate man indeed.
Shit, dude... I hope you had 20 amazing years, brother.
Rest in paradise, she was adored
Aww mate I clicked on see more and shite……life ey lad, keep on smiling 🙂🤘

This is the sort of music that goes hand-to-hand* with LSD.

Kicking off my weekend with this one
July 10th, 2024, Southern England.
My wife and I have listened to the Roses and Ian Brown for a very long time (we’re 64) & remember them, the first time around.
I’ve been in touch with Mr Ian Brown and he’s a gent, as well as one of our very few people we regard as our heroes (I know he doesn’t think of himself like that).
I am here
Music is a joke in 2024. What happened to the new talent coming through. This sounds so gooooood even now...........and forever
The year is 89 and I live in a big house with 3 floors and 8 flats. The landlord decides he wants to sell up. 6 of the flats are now empty and the residents of those flats don't kick up a fuss and leave with the exception of me at the very top and a chap called Chris who was at the bottom. We decided to make a stand and fight till the end. At this point we had no water but we had the whole house to ourselves and it was a big house.. One day while in my flat I heard a song that was being played at full volume by Chris at the bottom and I mean full volume I felt compelled to go down to his flat and find out who played this music I had never heard of the stone roses or this song. It was a revelation for me. Something unique , powerful and emotional. That was the day I heard the stone roses for the first time. Of course I bought the album and played it full whack. The whole house rocked to the sound of this track. We had a glorious 2 months of listening to this album over and over again. Eventually we were both offered £250 to leave and back in 89 that was a large amount of cash for each of us. I will never forget that period in my life being introduced to a seminal band. The building is now some solicitor headquarters. Bet you can still hear the spirit of this album in the walls.
great story

My wife and I rocking this song in 2024! It was the first time for her hearing it and she was singing along. Totally awesome!
Fun Fact: Both "The Stone Roses: The Stone Roses" and "The Cure: Disintegration" were released on the 2nd of May 1989, making it the greatest day of the year.
The greatest day of any year
WTF haha, never knew that 🎉
Never realised they were 80s albums!
@@grahamtait8031 Really 1989 was a warning shot of the 90s most of the hair metal garbage was dead already, I mean some of the hair bands coming out had names like Faster Pussycat.... Faster Pussycat.
@@Mollikar But the music of the 1990s sounds so dead and dry and cynical
compared to this and other masterpieces from 1989 (other great albums from that year for me are ‘Playing With Fire’ by Spacemen 3, ‘On Fire’ by Galaxie 500, ‘Hats’ by the Blue Nile). I think the 80s was always building up to ‘89. Admittedly, there were fewer masterpieces (compared with the early to mid 80s that had far more) and lots of proto-90s bubblegum trash. I guess the 80s had to end somehow.
God bless the Internet.

When the guitar comes in, absolute perfection. One of the best guitar riffs ever.
And bass lines!
Eagulls do a sensational cover of "I Wanna Be Adored" on AV Club's Undercover series. I highly recommend. The guitarist strums the guitar with a handheld, battery-powered fan. It's worth a look for sure.

its so cool it’s coming back, I’ve always looked up to my father and he was born in 1980. he was so lucky to live in the 90s as a teen, his music has had a huge impression on me. Its opened me to a whole new world, maybe a new mindset. 90s was fucking awesome !
@@brynnamae8863 woah, you make me feel old. I was born in 1977. I don't know if I could pull off wearing that style anymore but its cool to see people dressing that way again.
When I think back to those times, I loved this band, but I was wearing black leather boots, tight black jeans, and a black T-shirt, with my hair in a ponytail. If it was winter, I'd also have a black sweater and black coat. (I'm a guy.)

I listened to this song on my Spotify playlist the last time I was on a plane several months ago. I had a window seat and looked out the window and the buildup to 1:27 to where the plane lifted off felt so satisfying.
I'm going to the States in May, thanks for the idea! 😂
Narayan S. I’m doing this
I like Ian. But I don't think he understands the function of a microphone.
exactly what i was thinking. he just holds it and waves it around but the audio quality stays the same, if he actually sang using it, it would sound something like "I wANnA bE AdOReD."
ahahahaaaaa super w.t.
yellow guy1s2 don't explain the joke man, it's lame 😂
That's LSD for ya mate, ya shake around a lot
🔥 🔥 HOT MIC! HOT MIC! 🔥 🔥

This group never really impacted America--Just found them, they deserved better.
The year is 1989: You’ve just taken your first E pill at the pub. This song starts blaring from the speakers while you begin sipping your first pint. Inner bliss is reached…
Can't believe how easy to get now. I got a bottle of vitamin E delivered for a £5er... 😁😁
Jaysus Head E was for House and Techno, Trance sorry you missed the boat ⛵
@@nastroazzuro2697 As a Manc aged 20 when this came out, I can assure you E and weed were the companions to the whole Manchester scene.
House nights last tracks would be the Roses, Mondays, James, Inspirals.
Even Carly Simon "Why"
And THE SMITHS?
@@benedictegerard81 a pint if john smiths, yes

Hahaha that made me laugh out loud.
Red hot summer 89...sat on a hillside middle of nowhere..fcjed up laughing our heads off ...trying to comprehend how happy we were....beautiful....my brothers from other mothers and still today
...we lived the dream ...warehouse parties...88-91....BEAUTIFUL 🙏
When you realize this is 30 years old.
Almost 30 years, i think it came out in 1989
Great! Timeless song!😃

August 2024 Baby, Keep er lit lads 😊
I can't relate how much music changed so quickly in the 80s. I was sad to see the end of them but early 90s indie scene was magical
whats ur point????
Doesn't matter how many times I hear this tune, it takes me right back to that time when I was a teenager and I wasn't sure if she liked me.
***** That's cool, it does for me though.
I just feel like that...and i'm not a Teenager hahaha (28)
That intro gives me chills every time, absolutely superb 👌
I remember groggily waking up one morning in my totally blacked out room just as the intro started playing and that was a truely surreal experience. Music is an amazing thing.
Favorite part is from 0:38 to 1:44. gets me hyped up every time
So many songs from different artists sound like or copied this song. 3 songs instantly come to mind. “Gimmie some truth”-The wonder stuff, “Dark horse”-Amanda marshall, and the Due South tv show theme song-Jay Semko. They sound very similar, if you like this song, then you will likely like these songs too^
Same
In my opinion this is one of the greatest songs of all time. It really gives me chills. The instrumental is otherworldly.
Used to come home after a sesh and listen to this with my bro R.I.P. Michael 💙
I came to listen to this tonight and your comment hit me like a truck as I had to bury my brother Michael yesterday
@mustardmule4723 sry to hear that mate 🙏
