I had platinum blonde highlights in my ginger hair before deciding to use henna. The areas that were bleached not only don't come out with the same intensity, but they also fade and get dull fast. On my natural hair, the color is absolutely stunning (I mix henna and cassia obovata for a nice reddish copper).
Wash with conditioner - thank you! That's a great tip. I henna my hair weeks ago -- I didwash it too soon. Many time. >.< I honestly didn't know. My hair is now an Auburn colour, which is okay. My only concern is that every time I do wash my hair now, I am STILL getting orange runs from my hair in the water. Very light, but still. I don't know what I did wrong and I don't know what to do. :( How can I make the henna sick and stop running? Thank you xxx
@@TheHennaGuys Oh! One more question: swimming pools? After the henna has finally settle in your hair, is it safe to swim, or will the chlorine just strip out the colour?
@@jocastaroper If it is a swimming pool with chlorine that is very bad for the hair regardless if you have henna. It will effect the henna color! I strongly recommend purchasing a swimmers cap~I know they can look dorky but it will help keep your hair healthy and make your henna last longer. I’ve using henna since I was 16 and I’m 56 now. I use to be a avid swimmer! The red run is completely normal and it is also normal to transfer on pillow cases and shirt necklines: I suggest placing a old towel over your pillow until your hair runs clear water when rinsed so you don’t stain your pillow/bedding. As for shirts wear dark colors because whites and pastels colors can get stained in the initial stages of henna-ing. I could see how you would be in shock with the orange water so just a few pointers. One other thing; if you do get henna stained on your clothes I find using the powdered OXI clean helps get the stains out if you soak overnight in a bucket or a sink. Just put garment in warm water first and sprinkle the OXI clean over the stain. Been there done that.
Very good point. Yes it helps with dryness but we always recommend to apply it afterward when your hair is still wet. As adding oil to henna will interfere with color process.
Absolutely! On black hair, you will see red tints in the sunlight, if you still want to avoid that, you need to use Cassia powder then:) That is colorless but provides all the benefits henna provides.
@@suchismitaupadhyay9721 FYI: Cassia powder will give some blue highlights out in the sun on black hair. It is beautiful and still looks natural not a strong blue at all. hello after i rinse the henna mixture (step 1) or the indigo mixture (step 2) out of my hair, can I use shikakai powder paste to wash the mixtures out of my hair after step 1 and after step 2 or should i only use the shikakai rinse after step 2..?
We would recommend the shikakai powder after step 2 as you want step 2 to work well with step 1. Dont want any interference in-between so you can get the best coverage.
I have dark colour hair. I wanna use henna to dye my hair dark red and obviously it won't happen without bleach but I don't wanna use bleach and as you said in the video we shouldn't use bleach before henna so please let me know what can I use to lighten my hair before applying henna to get red hair??
We only recommend not bleaching your hair, because it is a chemical treatment that strips your hair of color, natural oils and health. There are some natural ways to lighten hair, like using honey, lemon juice with baking soda or apple-cider vinegar. These are things you will have to research and see what works before for you. Doing natural treatments will take longer to see results.
We recommend using lemon juice in your mixture. It wont change so much but help bring out the red tints more. Please do contact our customer support to help you more sales@thehennaguys.com
I have some green hair dye in my hair and I was wondering if i use a color remover to remove the green would i still be able to use henna of course after waiting a couple weeks
@The Henna Guys, when i am manipulating the Henna powder, I always accidently inhale it, and it makes me cough for the next few hours. I try wearing a very thick scarf on my mouth and nose when i put the henna powder in a bowl, but even then it enters my lungs. What should i do? I use Egyptian Henna powder.
Indigo needs a pure henna base to really attach to the hair and get that darker color. Without the pure henna base, it won't hold in the hair for long.
Hello! The indigo will most likely turn your hair black. You would just need to reapply the light brown dye, and it will cover the orange. What happened is that parts of your hair took more to the henna than the brown powder, but with a second application it will even itself out. Sometimes it takes another application before your hair fully takes to henna.
Dawn is still a chemical that isn’t good for hair. It has Sulfates in it. Use a PH balanced shampoo that says 5.5 PH balance/ Sulfate Free prior to using henna and after the first initial week. This has a balanced alkaline good for ALL hair types and is very gentle to the hair and scalp and fine to use as your regular routine. You can find various brands in health food stores that will state on the bottle that it is 5.5 ph / Sulfate free. Doesn’t cause buildup in the hair strands. It will hold red/wine colors that usually oxidate much quicker in the sunlight. I’ve used various henna products since I was 16 and am 56. I will say the first couple weeks I DON’T use shampoo only conditioner as it helps get the left behind henna out especially if you have thick long hair. If you are prone to hair breakage and frizz I highly recommend using a 5.5 ph balanced shampoo it is reasonably priced depending brand and whom you buy from. Whole Foods/Trader Joes $15-$20 Marlene’s Market/Mother’s Market $12-$15. I have never tried ordering online as I like to open the bottle and smell them… they carry a lot of nice scents but some I don’t care for.

You can bleach your hair before henna; however, we always recommend waiting at least 2-3 weeks after the bleaching before applying. We recommend this because henna will need to be applied more than once after chemically dying your hair since your hair isn't used to it. Using right after applying bleach could cause discoloration or the henna won't stick to your hair at all.

If that works for you, do it. We just recommend using cooler temp water, especially since we do offer henna hair dyes that do not require a long resting time.
Those henna creams are likely dyes with added chemicals for faster processing. Or, they are a henna gloss and will develop lighter coloring. Make sure to read the ingredients!
