But it is normal for henna to make your hair darker and darker with each application. Because it overcoats your hair and doesn’t penetrate it like chemical dyes. If you want to make hair color less intense, you have to soak your hair in olive or coconut oil for several nights, it will get slightly lighter.
@@parasemear2686 Exactly, she should just put henna on the roots for touch-ups. It doesn't leave a line, either, because henna blends much better into the hair than dye kits.
I used henna for years and would bleach my roots, put the henna on bam perfect matching colour. I also hate when you have a band of colour in the hair, drives me insane. Also she could have easily bleached that henna out. I've also used the brown henna and with both colours I've never had a problem getting them straight out or maybe I'm just lucky.
Yes,, this is true; if you want to go LIGHTER you cannot use henna because it is a stain, like tea. But after years of conventional chemical dyes, damage to my fine hair, and then to only have it fade to brassiness within two weeks after having it dyed red, I tried henna. It is THE BEST for ALL other colors besides blonde. Brown, red, black mixtures of both-and just as you describe, it leaves your hair softer and shinier. Even better condition than hair that is never colored. I use Light Mountain brand. Thank you for your honesty.
When you first applied henna your hair was platinum white, which is why it was lighter. I suppose your roots are brown? That explains why it was darker at your roots. In reality, since Henna does not lighten hair, you would have had to bleach your roots and then apply henna.. Hope it makes sense 😅
I loooove love love henna. The strengthening effect, the color payoff, the natural aspect of it... I used it for years, but then I wanted to be pale blonde. Took a long damn time, but now my hair is level 10 blonde. But henna is still magic
Did the henna ever make your hair dry? I've been wanting to convert to henna for a while to stop using chemicals on my scalp (it gets itchy), but I've heard horror stories about how it dries your hair out and it just becomes horrible. I have waist length wavy hair, it's light brown
What I love about henna is how the colour never looks flat, but has natural differences in shades and tones through the hair. I personally stopped because it stains a little when wet, and I love being in the rain, so my clothes kept getting stained.
@@amiraayachi5721 From my experience, I would say it depends on the kind of henna you buy. I had some that stained even a couple weeks after dying (and I wash my hair daily), but I also used some that stopped staining less than a week after. Also, even when it stained, it was not a lot, I never noticed it in a swimming pool. Maybe if you wear white swimwear, and the wet hair constantly touches the fabric, it might stain the material? R.I.P. to my white pillow cases though, I have a bad habit of sometimes going to bed with slightly damp hair.
That should never happen. I used henna for 15 years. It doesn't fad or run when it's pure henna, properly used. Sounds like you had something that wasn't 100% pure lawsonia inermis.
the blonde looks nice but i miss seeing your beautiful henna hair! 😢 i am 8 months into using henna & i love it! my hair grows SOOOO fast, i never thought i’d say that. it’s getting back to my naturally curly style & i owe it to you for introducing me to henna. i do need to lighten my roots with chemical dye but it doesn’t bother me as long as i can get an even color🤗 i was born with carrot top hair & over the years it became an ugly light mud brown. henna has revived it & i will always buy it 🤗
I am a natural red head, and I feel like the browns and "dirty" blondes that are showing through more, make me a pretty muted strawberry blonde, light red on a good day. When I was little it was very auburn red, lots of dark coppery strands (my personal favorite of my red strands) I've been toying with the idea of doing a henna treatment to revitalize my red. What brand do you use? I see most people using light mountain
The ombre look is because it does get washed so if u just do ur roots the roots will have the initial strong colour, I redo my whole hair each time and it's fine
I've been using henna for 10 years. I've never had the blending issues you struggled with. I use jamila henna powder that I purchase from Amazon. Often i mix my dye released henna with conditioner when I touch up. About once a year or so I'll do a full 100 grams of henna.
I love Jamila too. I rinse it weekly with apple cider vinegar, because I have hard water, and the mineral build up gives my hair a green tint. Not the henna's fault, I'm naturally blonde, and a lot of us get green hair from certain water types.
henna is a blessing for people who are set for more permanent solutions. and yes, you can actually get more than just one color and no, not all toning hennas include chemicals, it can be plant-based natural coloring as well. it just takes changing your usual habits a bit and a bit more maintenance. also if you are experiencing a dry effect after using henna, there are a few things to help with that. first, take your time rinsing the hair properly, you might spend 20-30 minutes under the shower. second, get yourself a rich moisturizing hair mask and apply it after you have the shampoo and let it sit in the hair as per instructions, same for conditioner, be generous. that is really all, it took some time experimenting with the masks, but moisturizing oil-based masks tend to work the best.
I've used henna for many years, no regrets. I like how it doesn't leave a dramatic grow out line on me because the freshest layer, at the roots, does seem to fade a little, which in my case makes it look fine for a long time. (obviously that wouldn't be true if your color change is dramatic) Because the ends don't really fade much after several layers, I only dye my roots most of the time. I have never wanted to lighten my hair in my entire life, and I'm 32, so I doubt I will regret henna. It is definitely the only dye I would use because it's the only dye that doesn't weaken the hair.
@@milliem8051 it does! I just uploaded a video on my channel about it today. I have snow white greys in the front of my hair, and the Henna dyed them a beautiful auburn that blends in well with my dark brown hair.
I haven't watched anyone on YT that makes me want to dye my hair copper red as much as you Courtney! You look incredible with that color, it really makes you glow! 🌟😊
Henna is from my culture we use it in weddings and hair. I dyed my hair with henna this month second time in years and my hair is so light and glows red in the sun I love it
I dyed my hair red with henna using your tutorial! It’s still the process I use two years later. I’m naturally blonde so it has darkened over time, but not significantly and I really like it! I totally feel you about not wanting to bad mouth henna haha, there are so many haters but it really is a good option if you want to go red! You look beautiful, red or blonde :).
@@peacefulsoundtracks henna doesn't fade, so it's red/orange forever. People modify the colour with other plants (indigo for chestnut, cassia for gold tint etc), but those plants do fade over time.
This was so fun to make! I can't believe this is my hair story, it's so funny to me. Seeing it all from start to....present! Look at how different I look in every clip 😂 What kind of hair videos do you want to see in the future? Hair care, natural haircare, hair tutorials/styles? Let me know whatever it is!
Could you show us how the henna gloss bar works out? I tried henna once, the one from lush, and it made my hair more dry than anything. I love copper hair though and I always think about going back one day when my hair is in better shape! Love your videos 🥰
I want to say, you truly helped me dye my hair with henna a few years ago, I remember writing you a comment in the middle of dying my hair , i got nervous cause it seemed like my hair was turning green but it wasnt and you were so nice to respond right away Im so glad I did it and I am still doing it and I dont plan on stopping. I feel like red hair is my identity now and I still feel its your identity too :p I think of you as someone with red hair. So thank you for all your insight on henna and red hair. You inspired me to actually get on this journey and I have no regrets. I still love seeing your hair updates, even when you do other colors. My only problem with henna is that its very messy, I have to clean my bathroom everytime after I use it, which is kind of exhausting, but I think its worth it. I know you say your hair got darker over time and I noticed yours did, I think it was cause you colored your roots often so the color was overlapping. I dye my roots like every 3 months or so, I havent had a problem with it getting darker unless I leave it on for too long. If that happens, I just use a lightening spray on my roots and the problem is fixed. Sorry for the long comment :D Love you
I recently cut off all my henna+ indigo dyed hair. Henna served me well but was keeping from embracing my actual hair color. Ironically, my hair is naturally red and I used henna to dye it black, unlike most people. I feel her when she says it was covering emotional issues, it was for me too.
Did your eyebrows clash with the black? Did you dye the eyebrows aswell? I have naturally red hair(auburn) and I want to dye it black- but I'm hesitant because I'm worried my eyebrows will clash. Tried to find examples of others with the same/similar color who dyed black but I haven't had any luck so far.
@@djddjndj9837 initially yes. That’s how people realised I’d dyed my hair, I really thought I was fooling someone 😩. So I started dyeing them and my eyelashes with indigo+henna. A side effect is that my eyelashes looked much thicker since they were easier to see.
@@djddjndj9837 look up eyelash tinting to see how to do it. Also don’t leave the dye on the eyebrows for more than 40 mins else they get super dark and look fake. If you have to, do multiple short dyes to get the right shade instead of one long one. I would only use indigo+henna for the eyelashes and not box dye.
I deeply appreciate how you shared your journey and thought processes so clearly. I had waist-length hennaed hair for decades. My hair is short now and I'm growing it out. I've been using cassia but vacillate between wanting to henna *right now* to thinking "Do I really want to be committed to red hair again?" You gave me food for thought. As a total aside, I love your speaking voice: It's so soothing. That's a gift.
I stopped using henna because I had to always dye my dark roots blonde first with bleach then put the henna on top in order for it to all be that even copper/ginger colour. ( My hair was peroxide blonde when I started using henna, I loved it so much but it's counter productive do ruin my hair with peroxide/bleach first to then use henna on top). I agree with you though, henna is absolutely wonderful and if you have naturally light hair and want it a beautiful ginger colour I highly suggest you use it. I used the caca rouge from lush. Remember though it is hard to remove. It doesn't wash out.
hey courtney! i just wanted to thank you for how much you’ve helped me. i completely ruined my hair because of my emotional issues to the point i had to shave it all off last year. as my hair grew out, i messed up and bleached it during a breakdown and decided that was it for me. i dyed my hair with red chemical dye and hoped for the best. then, same thing happened and i bleached it again. around this time your “removing henna” video came out at the start of quarintine. that’s when i decided that i’m going to follow your videos step by step because my goal is long, thick healthy hair and copper is my favourite color on me. thanks to you, i hve the prettiest red color ever. i ordered from henna sooq and i’m so happy. i’ll give it three years till i remove it probably, but like you said as well- i need to learn self care and patience. i’m really grateful for all your henna videos they’ve really helped me so so so much. i love golden tones and i love bouncing back from blonde and red but i’m gunna stick it out with the permanence of henna and finallt have long hair again. i’m scared for it to get really dark but i’ll definitely refer back to you videos when that time comes ❤️ thanks again for everything
Oh I’m so proud of you!! If coloring your hair was an impulsive issue at all for you like it was for me, having the henna will definitely help you to breathe through that and find other ways to cope with those emotions. Because unlike regular dye, it will take you weeks, even months to remove the henna. You can’t be impulsive, it forces patience and it was soo beneficial in that way! If you find yourself feeling that way at all with the henna, try doing an Ayurvedic treatment instead! Hennasooq has so many, and on their youtube channel they have a lot of DIY Ayurvedic hair masks, that will give you something to do during that “craving” (for a lack of a better word lol). Anyway, you got this! I can’t wait for you to enjoy that beautiful healthy hair 🦋💙
I totally agree with your verdict that you look best with warm golden tones. I think it would be cool to see you explore this concept deeper - what is your skin undertone and seasonal color palette? What color makeup, hair and clothes look best on you?
@@CourtneyVioletta I would be super interested to see what your verdict is on the season you are: I think you look amazing with warm hair, but you can also totally pull off platinum, which is a cool tone, so... I am currently struggling to figure this out for myself. Best of luck!
I used 'Nupur', it's just powder in a bag and you mix it with water, I add a bit of turmeric and paprika to get the right shade of copper. Henna is the most natural way to get long lasting red colour to your hair. If you're going to do it DIY at home, just do your research! Growing it out is probably the healthiest way to get rid of it.
Turmeric removes hair!!!!!! It's a hair inhibitor! Once I used fresh turmeric on my scalp thinking it was ginger and my hair fell out in chunks! Don't use turmeric, used cassia instead
@@Cheiko18 what else did you put on your hair? I used this mix for years and my hair was lush, thick and healthy. I only used around a teaspoon per Nupur portion and dyed my hair twice a year. I'm not sure that statement about turmeric is totally accurate, sorry
Hey, if u want to mantain the copper without damaging it you can use semi permanent orange dye, like arctic fox manic panic etc, u just mix a tiny bit with a lot of conditioner and you are all set. If you are worried about getting clown orange you can mix a little bit of purple into the mix and that will tone it down (look up arctic fox's copper formula) Hope this helps! Coming from another ex platinum blonde that's now a redhead ;)
Thank you! I think I'll have to do that because I don't want to have to dye the ends all the time 😕 I have been thinking about getting the overtone copper conditioner... I wonder if that will work?
@@CourtneyVioletta i tried the ginger one from adore ... washes out ... also a great option! What kind of shampoos do you use? I'm a bit addicted in finding ones without silicones etc ... Have you tried shampoo bars yet?
I agree with everything you said. My hair was the thickest, longest, and strongest for the five years I used henna. But I couldn't deal with the fire any longer. I wanted something more natural. So it took me a year and a half to get it out. Now it's blonde. Too blonde. I want it more of a light brown, and I've developed an allergy to chemical dye. So . . . I'm going back down the natural path! But I'm treading lightly. My goal is light brown, not red, so I'm mixing cassia with a small bit of henna, indigo, and amla until I get the color I want. Wish me luck. :)
I would love to know how this went too! Looking to tint my 30% grey roots a light (non reddish) brown but can’t tolerate any dyes anymore - they all make my hair fall out like crazy and I can’t lose any more. Would love any suggestions or lessons learned if you have any - thanks!
I just have to say I stinking love your videos. Every time I watch them I just feel happy. I think you make us all smile and feel calm with your calm quiet voice. Thanks for being awesome girl! You are like a pound of serenity in a crazy world. Keep being you.
6:23 you looked like ariel from little mermaid with that henna color, so young and fresh. And it made your skin look so glowy and healthy. The blonde ages you a lot and makes your skin tone look off.
Oh darling, your voice is very pleasant to listen to. Such a breath of fresh air where a lot of younger women tend to be a little aggressive with their voices.
Henna does not need to be used once a month. I think that all of the treatments you were doing probably didn’t help with the darkening issue you had. But we live and we learn lol glad you were able to get most of it out. Also the big chop looked fricking amazing!
That's why I'm annoyed when people say don't use henna.. I don't wanna dye my hair all the time, I'm fine dying it and growing it out for a few years. Henna is an issue if you wanna change it a lot. Not if you don't want to keep dying your hair
I'm waiting for spring break to get back into henna. It's a process, and yes, it takes forever to get rid of. I grow mine out, but I also never change my hair color ever. I miss the ombre and strength my hair had with henna.
This is for anyone wantinng to go red or copper, and or if you decide to go back. Red/copper are the most synthetic colors of all hair dyes and so are hard to keep, they wash out easily with a hot shower and especially with any products containing sulfer. So look for sulfer free products. I was having the same problem keeping the orange color as it would wash out after a couple weeks and fade to golden blonde. I found that color depositing conditioner is the fix. I use a brand in France, but there are so many on the market now as it's a popular color. You leave the conditioner on for the intensity you desire. Since then I do not have to wait for root touch ups to go back to being a true copper.
I'm from india and i can totally understand you I have thin hair and when was in school 8 noticed everyone using Henna for healthy hair but to this day i never used it coz it turns hair red and also it can be orange and it can be impossible to get rid of that colour i actually love my original black hair so can't dair to die this or change colour in anyway it's just terrifying for me but i loved your hair colour though it's my honest advice as a Indian since it's a Indian remedy i guess don't use Henna guys it's really good for hair health but you don't know what color it would turns out and companies doesn't really matter much since it's actually a plant not even a neutral product literally nature so you have no control over it ❤
The gif of Cheryl at the start got me 😂 she was my inspo for starting henna too! I totally relate though, I love henna and I’ve had mine built up to a nice chocolate cherry tone for a while now, but I’m feeling that itch to go back to something else - namely my natural ashy brown. I love henna so much, but I feel like it’s okay to move away from it from time to time in order to really appreciate it again the next time that natural hair color urge hits! Thanks for sharing your journey, and the golden blonde looks LOVELY on you!
I'm thinking of growing my hair out so videos on hair growth/length maintenance would be nice. Also just how you keep up with your hair color. I love it!
Wow red hair is really pretty on you. My hair is dark so the color doesn't even show. I henna for the strength. My strands are too fine and fragile without it.
Same thing happened to me! I was a happy red henna user, it made my light ash brown hair glossy bright auburn. Only did my roots, still oxidized to black cherry over 4 years. Just lifted it to light auburn and I’m so happy with it! 🤗💖
I'm glad I'm not the only one! I always thought henna would get darker each time you apply it to the entire head, but like you said, even if you just do the roots somehow it still gets dark overtime 🥺 I'm glad you were able to fix it though!
@@CourtneyVioletta Thank you! I’m happy your hair came out so great. Your removing red henna video gave me the confidence to lighten mine, so thank you for that!! I did Color Oops twice and a 20 min bleach bath. ❤️😁
I know is not a point but henna gets darker because of oxidation so the best way to stop it from getting dark is once you get the red you want switch to Cassia, that way no more henna no more darkening but still benefit of healthy herbs on your hair, you only have to dye your roots and eventually you can use henna on your whole hair just from time to time once you notice it washed out to much, you also can mix cassia with one spoon of henna just to refresh the color
I feel like if I had watched your video before going to bed it would shift me smoothly and angelically into my astral travelling, your voice is truly mesmerizing. Thanks for sharing your journey, you look awesome x
I use more and more cassia in my mixture. This current batch is about a tablespoon of henna and the rest is cassia for my longish pixie cut. I'm allergic to PPD, but I really do not miss box dyes.
I've been considering using henna because my hair is very long dark blonde, virgin hair,, and I'm interested in keeping it healthy. It's very thick, and I'd like to keep it that way. Great video! ❤
My sister and I have red hair genes, but they show up weak as a copper color bc we live so far south. Reading up on red hair for her, i heard about henna shampoo, and youtube brought me here. Random, I know, but this video is pretty cool and shows how henna works pretty well
Henna might damage your hair and lots of hair will fall out during coloring, because hair gets stuck on each other, also when you keep it in your scalp many hours, which is not good for your scalp, because it can't breath.
Вам подходит любой оттенок рыжего! Это потрясающая возможность экспериментровать не только с волосами, но и с внутренним состоянием) ведь цвет волос способен менять настроение, ощущение себя. Вы очень красивая девушка!
It is very possible to remove henna. Just use powder bleach few times until your hair is stripped off of any colour and you’re good to go lol and yes, it’s never going to be so full and healthy, as henna has 5 strands to coat the hair cuticle and after you have none. But it is possible.
Such lovely hair no matter what colour. I guess you probably already know but if you don't want to dye your hair red you can still get the conditioning effects without the colour using natural herbs. Cassia by itself or combined with rhubarb or katam can give you golden highlights without changing the colour while strengthening and protecting your hair. If you want to darken your hair you can combine henna with indigo. The only thing you can't get of course are fantasy colours like pink or blue haha. Well maybe you can get dark blue using pure indigo, never tried that.
Those are herbs that you can add to henna or cassia to enhance the colour that you get from cassia or henna. I don't think they give any colour by themselves though. You can probably find them online. I live in Europe and I order them online.
Hello I enjoyed your story I have a question? I've been dying my hair with box dye for years my hair is very thin it breaks easily do you think henna is good for me? I have tried all types of drops and all types of shampoo to try to get my hair thick again 😩 🙄
I've been thinking of trying henna because I have gray roots and I am getting an itchy scalp after coloring every time, even though I use professional color. I have heard horror stories about how henna dries your hair out so much, that it becomes unmanageable, so I don't know what to think...
Try it, it will make your hair and scalp much healthier. Henna doesn’t dry hair, it conditions and makes it shinier. After using it, it’s better not to remove it with shampoo, or using conditioner. You have to rinse it only with water. That’s the only time it will be a bit unmanageable and hard to detangle, so it’s better to let it air dry and just detangle a little with your fingers. You can brush later when it’s totally dry. From then onwards, your hair will behave and look much better than before. You only have to be careful about choosing the right colour (because it’s a commitment) and choosing a henna brand with no salts in the composition (because it can be problematic if you dye it later with a chemical dye).
It's my understanding that IF you've colored with chemicals, you should ensure ALL hair with chemicals has either grown out or cut. Henna is ALL natural and the chemicals can react to the henna. If you've used henna and want to go back to chemically treating, you must do the reverse. Allow all hair with henna to either grow out or be cut off so the chemicals do not react to the henna. I've used hen a for years with no issues. I make sure it's all natural and good quality. No extras in it.
You would’ve had to do the same to strip red hair dye to go back to light blond if you’ve been red a long time. I go back and forth with henna but I really like it. Just messy!
What brands did you use? I just dyed my hair red, but I think I want to switch to henna. Any advice for dying over permanent hair dye? I don't hate my current color, but henna is so beautiful!
Girl ginger looks amazing on you even better than any shade of blonde. Your skin looks really fresh and your face becomes really lifted. Please go back to red hair ♡♡♡
Henna is great, but you were doing it wrong. When you first time using henna, you are happy with new color and don't want it any darker, you should dye only your roots with henna, and the res of hair with cassia :) Anyway, you look beautiful both with light red, and blond!

@@Ayschamoon I have thick hair and tend to lose a lot of it whenever I wash it so it is not unusual for me to see a lot of hair falling out. The same goes for me when I apply henna. Henna head over here, maybe you could use some cassia? it is colorless and gives the benefits of henna without the red. It can be bought whereever you can get henna usually.
You are so right about the goodness of henna. And I wish you had continued to use henna. I worry for you about using chemical dye so often. Besides focusing on the aesthetic aspects , Do check out the health detriments (including possibility of cancer and scalp and hair damage leading to weakening follicles, scarring aloepecia or permanent hair loss eventually ) with overly frequent use of chemical dye. Having hair but toying with restricted color is still better than having no or damaged/fried hair with limitless play of color. Health comes before Aesthetics.
I have thick, long, healthy hair that's white at the roots, then shades to gray, then shades to reddish brown at the ends. I put henna on my hair 6+ months ago. When I've used henna before, it's just slowly faded away. Not this time. I have a "skunk stripe" several inches long down the middle. I've covered that up with demi-permanent blue, and I liked it for a while. But I really want to go back to my white/gray hair, believe it or not. I've Googled removing henna. So I've used vodka, baking soda (did nothing), vinegar (the highest level of acidity of vinegars we have in the house) a couple days apart. The red henna has faded, but I want it GONE. You talked about how gross Color Oops was, so I'm not going to try that. THANK YOU for the heads' up! I'm thinking of just buying platinum blond or some whitish-color hair dye and applying it. I am so tired of my henna'd hair. Thank you so much for your very helpful, honest videos!
Lol I hennaed my own hair during covid. I had kept my hair very long and very blonde and it had been months since I could go to the salon and this point and I figured well maybe I can even out the hennaed between my naturally dark blonde roots and level 9 ends lol the answer to that was no the henna came out super orange on my ends and I really liked it but I needed it to tone down a little so after two weeks I hennaed it a second time and again loved the beautiful vibrant colour on the bleached portions of my hair but my roots were a very very dark brownish colour that only picked up a hint of red in direct lighting. So by this point I started trying to remove henna and this was around the time I saw your videos about removing it. I tried using colour removers (the ones without bleach) and it really got a lot out but then my hair was just pretty scraggly looking so I cut it super super short and then after the cut I decided to try to bleach it and ended up with yellow hair and orange streaks throughout and pretty fried hair which I then left alone for a month before getting another cut and having a professional fix my hair colour lol
In my case it doesn’t get darker and covers me the gray well on the first step then use the color, second step without mistreating my hair. My hair is healthy and controled the excess of oil on my hair.
Girl, yout hair was wetting darker because your hair was bleached, when it grows its dark again and if u put henna on top it will look darker because ur hair base color is darker that the bleaches ends. U r welcome.
Lmao I was thinking the same thing. Most people do henna on their entire head too to avoid the whole ombre thing. I haven't seen it make someone's red hair darker when they put it over top previously henna colored hair but now she has me wondering if it happens occassionally.

what colour is your hair? I want it more blond and not too much red.. is this possible?
your hair with the henna color WAS AMAZING!!!!!!! it suits you so much, looks so unique and healthy!! and even now is still beautiful too.
What I love about henna is how the colour never looks flat, but has natural differences in shades and tones through the hair. I personally stopped because it stains a little when wet, and I love being in the rain, so my clothes kept getting stained.
What??? What if I go to the swimming pool will it stain?
Try light mountain henna! I’ve never had that issue.
I agree! Mine never stained anything.@@katashley1031
the blonde looks nice but i miss seeing your beautiful henna hair! 😢 i am 8 months into using henna & i love it! my hair grows SOOOO fast, i never thought i’d say that. it’s getting back to my naturally curly style & i owe it to you for introducing me to henna. i do need to lighten my roots with chemical dye but it doesn’t bother me as long as i can get an even color🤗 i was born with carrot top hair & over the years it became an ugly light mud brown. henna has revived it & i will always buy it 🤗
where did buy. what type...?
About once a year or so I'll do a full 100 grams of henna.
where did u buy it
@@KamaloExp i order jamila henna from amazon or amerikanbodyart
I love Jamila too. I rinse it weekly with apple cider vinegar, because I have hard water, and the mineral build up gives my hair a green tint. Not the henna's fault, I'm naturally blonde, and a lot of us get green hair from certain water types.
@@KamaloExp Amazon or Indian markets, get the kind in the iridescent box that's body art quality, it gives an awesome Princess Ariel red.
I just started using jamila... It's intense. Very good color, just need to be careful not to go overboard and try to keep to my roots only.
Your hair was so much smoother, thicker, shinier looking when using henna regularly
henna is a blessing for people who are set for more permanent solutions. and yes, you can actually get more than just one color and no, not all toning hennas include chemicals, it can be plant-based natural coloring as well. it just takes changing your usual habits a bit and a bit more maintenance. also if you are experiencing a dry effect after using henna, there are a few things to help with that. first, take your time rinsing the hair properly, you might spend 20-30 minutes under the shower. second, get yourself a rich moisturizing hair mask and apply it after you have the shampoo and let it sit in the hair as per instructions, same for conditioner, be generous. that is really all, it took some time experimenting with the masks, but moisturizing oil-based masks tend to work the best.
Do you know if it colors/blends grays?
@@milliem8051 it does! I just uploaded a video on my channel about it today. I have snow white greys in the front of my hair, and the Henna dyed them a beautiful auburn that blends in well with my dark brown hair.

Henna is from my culture we use it in weddings and hair. I dyed my hair with henna this month second time in years and my hair is so light and glows red in the sun I love it
Wow you look great in every color but the most striking as a red head
I dyed my hair red with henna using your tutorial! It’s still the process I use two years later. I’m naturally blonde so it has darkened over time, but not significantly and I really like it! I totally feel you about not wanting to bad mouth henna haha, there are so many haters but it really is a good option if you want to go red! You look beautiful, red or blonde :).
Do you mind sharing how long your henna lasts? Does it last longer than typical red dyes? I’m considering doing this for my blonde hair. 🙏🏼
@@peacefulsoundtracks my henna never fades actually, maybe I'll see it fading 6 months in but it's still quite beautiful even at that state!
@@peacefulsoundtracks henna doesn't fade, so it's red/orange forever. People modify the colour with other plants (indigo for chestnut, cassia for gold tint etc), but those plants do fade over time.

The strawberry blonde looks very natural on you and I love it!
Gosh!! You are a storyteller!!! I love the story and the way you made it!!! Adorable! And you look stunning in every single color and shade!
Sorry for the long comment :D Love you
What lightening spray do you use ?

I'm starting using henna again after 7 years to nourish my hair and eventually get rid of grey hair and reducing dandruff problem.
C u can use cassia which is neutral henna ..means same benefits of henna but without the color
hey courtney! i just wanted to thank you for how much you’ve helped me. i completely ruined my hair because of my emotional issues to the point i had to shave it all off last year. as my hair grew out, i messed up and bleached it during a breakdown and decided that was it for me. i dyed my hair with red chemical dye and hoped for the best. then, same thing happened and i bleached it again. around this time your “removing henna” video came out at the start of quarintine. that’s when i decided that i’m going to follow your videos step by step because my goal is long, thick healthy hair and copper is my favourite color on me. thanks to you, i hve the prettiest red color ever. i ordered from henna sooq and i’m so happy. i’ll give it three years till i remove it probably, but like you said as well- i need to learn self care and patience. i’m really grateful for all your henna videos they’ve really helped me so so so much. i love golden tones and i love bouncing back from blonde and red but i’m gunna stick it out with the permanence of henna and finallt have long hair again. i’m scared for it to get really dark but i’ll definitely refer back to you videos when that time comes ❤️ thanks again for everything
That's a really great idea!
If you are worried about getting clown orange you can mix a little bit of purple into the mix and that will tone it down (look up arctic fox's copper formula)
Hope this helps!
I loved the ginger one .
What is the update please? And can you gv the ratio of each thing u used ?
I would love to know how this went too! Looking to tint my 30% grey roots a light (non reddish) brown but can’t tolerate any dyes anymore - they all make my hair fall out like crazy and I can’t lose any more. Would love any suggestions or lessons learned if you have any - thanks!

They give free samples of henna at Lush if you want to try theirs before you buy. I am planning on testing it out soon, never used henna before
This is for anyone wantinng to go red or copper, and or if you decide to go back.
I'm from india and i can totally understand you I have thin hair and when was in school 8 noticed everyone using Henna for healthy hair but to this day i never used it coz it turns hair red and also it can be orange and it can be impossible to get rid of that colour i actually love my original black hair so can't dair to die this or change colour in anyway it's just terrifying for me but i loved your hair colour though it's my honest advice as a Indian since it's a Indian remedy i guess don't use Henna guys it's really good for hair health but you don't know what color it would turns out and companies doesn't really matter much since it's actually a plant not even a neutral product literally nature so you have no control over it ❤
You’re so positive. I just love your videos!
How long did it take to get the chocolate cherry shade in your hair ?

I'm thinking of growing my hair out so videos on hair growth/length maintenance would be nice. Also just how you keep up with your hair color. I love it!
Wow red hair is really pretty on you. My hair is dark so the color doesn't even show. I henna for the strength. My strands are too fine and fragile without it.
My hair is light so I think I’ll try cassia to give my hair some strength.

My sister and I have red hair genes, but they show up weak as a copper color bc we live so far south. Reading up on red hair for her, i heard about henna shampoo, and youtube brought me here.
Random, I know, but this video is pretty cool and shows how henna works pretty well
She looks much better with the dark red color, the blonde looks wishy-washy on her
Henna might damage your hair and lots of hair will fall out during coloring, because hair gets stuck on each other, also when you keep it in your scalp many hours, which is not good for your scalp, because it can't breath.
We in India use henna for covering grey hair as majority of us here have black or brown hair colour.
Loved your copper henna look
You are amazing!! ❤love every second of the video! Good luck!!
Henna looked very beautiful on you !
What is rhubarb n Katam?
Those are herbs that you can add to henna or cassia to enhance the colour that you get from cassia or henna. I don't think they give any colour by themselves though. You can probably find them online. I live in Europe and I order them online.
Hello I enjoyed your story I have a question? I've been dying my hair with box dye for years my hair is very thin it breaks easily do you think henna is good for me? I have tried all types of drops and all types of shampoo to try to get my hair thick again 😩 🙄
Her voice is so calming
You only have to be careful about choosing the right colour (because it’s a commitment) and choosing a henna brand with no salts in the composition (because it can be problematic if you dye it later with a chemical dye).
btw u can use cassia if u want herbal hair stuff! might affect ur blonde tho!
Remember to put shower cap don't let the henna dry on your head otherwise splits and hairfall and a fews drops of hairoil on your mixture
Girl ginger looks amazing on you even better than any shade of blonde. Your skin looks really fresh and your face becomes really lifted. Please go back to red hair ♡♡♡
You can use cassia instead of henna - it gives gold reflexes ;) And it is also a herb
Isn't cassia thé latin term for henna?
Henna is great, but you were doing it wrong. When you first time using henna, you are happy with new color and don't want it any darker, you should dye only your roots with henna, and the res of hair with cassia :) Anyway, you look beautiful both with light red, and blond!

You are so pretty in any color hair, but the red on you, wow. It's exotic and perfect withyour skin and eyes. This is my opinion. Great video.
Henna head over here, maybe you could use some cassia? it is colorless and gives the benefits of henna without the red. It can be bought whereever you can get henna usually.
Yes it is a plant, can be mixed with henna too to make it a softer red. Or used alone as a healthy hair mask.
The red henna looked great on you!
But please tell me how did you manage to remove the henna from your hair???
I am a henna artist for 17 years now but i never used henna in my hair haha! It looked really good on you btw 😍
Plz tell why didn't u use on hair ?
My mother is allergic to ppd in hair dyes she applys henna every month or so i would love to know how to intensify hair colour naturally ofcourse ?
Omg I loved the henna on your hair !!!. I have black hair and I love it but I wish I could have red hair once in my life but this would require bleaching my hair which I just really don’t want to do bc I don’t have super thick hair 😪
You’re amazing at doing your own hair omg
