Thank you....markers of healing ...brilliant. I am feeling l am healing. I have to catch myself daily with wanting to control to feel safe. Or even my addiction to controlling everything....people, places, things. Finally at 63 l am doing the real work. Bless you. Ireland
I like that idea that codependency was a strategy we learned for survival in chaotic early experience. Michelle thanks so much for your enlightened critique on Boundaries. Boundaries are a comment, a statement, a self protection. However, they are not and cannot aim at changing the behaviour of the person they are enacted with. Yes. This is such clarity for me. I realise now that, as people say, "only say things once to the narcissist, don't keep asking them". We make that Boundary. It is a statement that their behaviour is unacceptable. But they may choose to ignore it and are so deluded that they cannot/will not change or respond. That is so clear. We hold a Boundary. The rest is their responsibility. Really helpful idea! ; ) K
I love your awareness! Yes boundaries have to be about what we can control so we know that we have the power to take care of ourselves no matter what others do. Thanks so much for watching!
sometimes feel stuck with some old codependency's patterns but i know that I have made a lot of progress in 4 years. Thank you so much.🥀 I pray that one day i will be able to say I'm fully recovered 😊 but until then, i take one day at a time 🙏
Yeah codependency recovery is definitely one day at a time and at least in my experience personally and professionally, it's never going to be perfect but it does get better. There are lots more tools now to help! Feel free ti check out my free journal prompts :)
I'm so happy for you! Getting out of isolation is HUGE for codependent people who tend to think that don't need help ( or are too embarrassed to ask ). Thanks so much for watching!
Anger & resentment over how you have been in the past. It’s like grieving the old person. So hard to forgive myself. I feel like I take two steps forward and one step back.
I know but you really deserve it! You did the best you knew how at the time and I really believe that when we know better, we do better! In some of my paid journals I include a forgives letter to yourself. It does help! Hang in there Kim!
I have been struggling with wondering if I'm doing the right thing by leaving the relationship with my husband of 6 years. (Together for 14) Thank you so much for the insight. I no longer question it being unhealthy, and I feel better about my decision.
Me watching this video: I need to make all of my codependent friends watch this and outgrow their codependency. Michelle: You start focusing on yourself instead of everyone else Me: Oops... 😂 Thank you! For this awesome video and for sharing your knowledge. You're changing lives!

Unthawing is uncomfortable as I’m feeling my own feelings, nice Michelle, steps toward better deliberate self care, I can do that
@@stalkmoe Yep you can! Unthawing IS hard and most people don't realize that not having their feelings is super common.

When l come back to myself...l don't feel as lonely cause l am connecting to my own life, needs, wants. I am now to busy to care re others anymore.
Beautiful! Coming back to yourself is KEY in codependency recovery!

Great video. So important to have "markers" to figure out whether we're healing. And, as always, Michelle does it in a real, compassionate way.
Thanks James! That's exactly why I did this topic because codependency is not easy to understand since it has a lot of markers!
Thank you. Doing all 10. Just subscribed. ❤
Thank great - good for you, recovery takes a lot of effort and it must be paying off for you!

I'm glad, it can take a lot of time before coming to that decision and I'm so glad you found this part helpful. It's okay to take the time you need!
