hey Long, i hope you are able to come back to uploading soon. you’re a role model and i seriously look up to you not just for fitness but as a man. stay safe and healthy, i hope the family is doing great.
@@Tierone1337 I train everyday, had covid at the very beginning and got natural immunity after. No vaccines. I am at least 2 decades older than him, little stronger but also 30 to 40 LBS heavier body weight . Most likely he got vaccinated and while I do not want to start any form of argument about that, vaccines do not make covid less harmful the way I see around me with people. I see people with natural immunity do same level training and many others vaccinated with less gym time and /or serious strength loss. I socialize a lot and after the first time I got sick over 2 years ago, I never got sick again.
Been subscribed for a while and love watching you bench. I'm 51 years old and will be competing in my first powerlifting meet early next year. Bench is currently my strongest lift, but working to catch up on squat and deadlift.
Hey long. Usually wait every week for a upload but haven’t seen anything for the last 3-4 months. Hopefully everything’s fine with you and your family, the RUclips family here misses your uploads!
Hi long, miss the weekly uploads!! Happy holidays to you and your family! On a side not I was curious if you’ve ever thought of getting blood work to test your test and hormone levels, and if in the future you have any plans of looking into HRT as those levels eventually decline. I’m only curious considering your bench is so crazy right now, I wonder how your recovery and strength would be affected.
If it helps I'm an infectious pathology scientist. It's not unusual at all to have lingering fatigue and joint problems after recovering from a symptomatic infection. Coronavirus is little different.
Where you been Long, always motivating me to go to the gym on the days I go. If you're ever in Seattle, would be cool to lift with you. I usually don't go over 225# anymore due to old age and injuries. Keep it up bro.
the family parts always hit me in the feels. thank you for showing more than just fitness because it helps show that there's more than working out in life. your kids will watch these videos and see how strong their dad is while being able to see their childhood
You’ll be back up to speed bro it’s no big deal. Take your time you know how this goes. Plus I’ve had covid and I don’t think this is a long term covid effect.
10:25 this is why I’m still trying to stay as healthy as possible with Covid still around. I’m in the demographic that will survive, but it’s the lingering effects that are still unknown which can affect daily life. Hopefully you have a full recovery ASAP Long.
Go to a real gym and get a coach. You've come a long way training by yourself, but you're leaving programming and hypertrophy on the table. A decent gym would have a supportive bench to plant your traps, sticky surface to better use leg drive, and an environment to get better. Anyone would be more than happy to help you. Being the biggest fish in your gym is hurting you. Look to be he weakest in the room.
@@fifthfangofmetsudo you don't need a pending meet to get a coach. A coach could help pinpoint what is upping his injury incidence and make a program to address his lifestyle. It would fast track his progress or progress he would otherwise never see.
I had COVID last month, and was out of the gym for about two weeks. My squat used to be my best lift, but it seems to have suffered the most. I’m taking things easy for now, and just trying to get my form back on track. COVID really wiped me out, so I think a slow rebuild is gonna be necessary.
I’ve been lifting a year, 270 is my 1rm I remember watching your videos when I first started, and was like damn that dude is strong af. Motivated me to get stronger. Thanks man.
Hope to see u again soon Long. Not sure if u remember me but i took ur bench stuff and tried to do it with SBD. still working wonderfully. managed to hit 220kg (485lb) deadlift before new years :). well i try to do it but i'm also doing higher frequency so can't stick to doing SBD every other day for every lift with the percentages so occasionally switch to do other work. gonna focus on squat and bench for a bit. trying to get atleast 315 bench as my next goal. like 120kgs right now, which is like 265lbs i think. I knew u were strong but it didn't hit me how strong u were until now that i've gotten a bit more into training and powerlifting. i'm like 91kgs now and god damn...
I watched the 410 lb at 154 video so I keep tabs on the channel. I have that original video in my motivation playlist. I'm glad you seem ok after having covid. I don't think I had it yet, but anything's possible. I'm not currently into strength training except for legs on the stairs around this high elevation 5300 foot town. Getting in good cardio shape while I'm here. Good recovery so far on whole food-plant based. SOme say recovery is much better but I don't know of science studies that show it.
I hope you're well and family too. I got a back injure and can't lift too heavy for now. It's just weird because during this pandemic, there are lots of young and old ppl who acquired lower back problems. Get well soon Long.
What happened? Your videos are the ones I always look forward to watch each week. I hope everything is ok with you and your family. I am 40, and a few months I was the strongest I have ever been. Could be thyroid related. Did you get blood work my tsh was elevated but it should be temporary 2-3 months after covid. If it is lmk, regardless your body is recovering still. I believe even people that think after getting covid they’re good in 2 weeks - 1 month is not good enough recovery.
at your height I'd try to maintain 150-155 bodyweight at the very least. That should help reduce injury risk and the amount of nagging injuries lifting the weights you're moving on top of having better workouts.
Hey! Yes, after I had COVID I had several months of absolute exhaustion and a pretty severe brain-fog where I'd mess up simple tasks. I would also note that my ability to focus and motivate has decreased severely but that may be unrelated. Shortness of breath and rapid fatigue were very common symptoms for 2-3 months afterwards. The fatigue lasted longer. This was with the delta variant, my second infection with the Omnicron variant was last month and I have much less severe effects. Perhaps more fatigue.
I think u need to put a lil body weight man…maybe go up to 160? I used to weight 155 ishh for a long ass time then my joints started hurting. I couldn’t figure it out why. I tried going up my weight to 160-165 n It’s not hurting anymore. It was weird but it worked. Maybe it’ll work on u too?
I think part if it is you're just psyching yourself out and over-thinking it, which is something I've noticed that you tend to do.
