    I've had pec major rupture and had surgery. The Orthopedic surgeon said I would never bench over 300 again! Took me a couple years to get up 315. It's the mindset that will keep you from reaching your goals. So when I hear guys saying I used to lift heavy but I wore out my shoulders or whatever! You're just planting excuses in your mind!

      Nice to hear this, I got a grade 2 tear in December and am not pushing heavy yet (5 rep range typically). I got a dimple/line in my armpit that is very noticeable and I do not think it’ll go away. So hearing that you got a major rupture and managed to get back or improve - it means a lot.

    You are a legend on RUclips and probably one of the pound for pound strongest I’ve seen. I have those thoughts too and have since scaled back the heavy lifting I use to do in high school and college days. I still try to go for 5-10reps but I think as I get older I try to embrace recovery and want to stay in this game as long as possible. Love watching people push the heavy weights like you, Larry Wheels etc. Huge inspiration and keep it up!

    if you're concerned about reducing chances of injury, it might be good to throw in hypertrophy periods, or even just days, doing multiple sets of 6 reps or more or something. It might even help break through plateaus too.

      From what I have seen with arm wrestlers, they follow their low rep high volume stuff with very low intensity but a lot of reps for tendon work, however I don't know if that would help with shoulders.

    I think dumbells are way safer. In my youth, I was into fairly heavy barbell. I could do 335 for 6-7(that's all the weight I had) but I was getting hurt every other year. When I moved over to dumbells, I realized I was struggling with 120lbs in each hand at first. Injuries went down to almost zero and now 20 years later I'm still doing over 100s on dumbells. Haven't had a shoulder injury in decades.

    I wonder if this is clean: The plates are extrem shacking, even when the man touches them soft at 5:39 you can see the right plate is moving immediately, like it has no weight.... When i touch 45lb Plates nothing is shacking this way, ...i do not know if this are fake weights...
    And the pull ups are good, but i do about 20 pull ups that way, ... so he is weaker, ... but every push he does when bench pressing is exact the same quiet and tension....My body builts up tension from head to feet, when i bench....first the arms, at 200lb, then chest and stomach at 250 lb, and at 300 lb everything is trembling and full tension,...but he always has one speed, one tension, one movement... I do not believe it.

    I just watched your comeback video and I want to know more about your wrist injuries. Were you trying another program when those accumulated, or was it just life stresses piling up and carrying over to the gym without programming changes? Looking back, do you have any idea how would you go about not getting injured in the first place?
    Thanks for the great content and your time.

    • @UFpwrLifter
      @UFpwrLifter  2 года назад

      Thanks for watching. The first time the wrist injury happened, it was due to trying a new movement; close grip bench for triceps. I had my grip too narrow and was doing too much weight. The other times, it wasn’t due to a new movement and thankfully the injury was shorter than the first time. If I could go back, I would’ve tried to be disciplined enough to use a lighter weight so even if I had the wrong form, the injury wouldn’t have been as severe.
