I've had pec major rupture and had surgery. The Orthopedic surgeon said I would never bench over 300 again! Took me a couple years to get up 315. It's the mindset that will keep you from reaching your goals. So when I hear guys saying I used to lift heavy but I wore out my shoulders or whatever! You're just planting excuses in your mind!
Nice to hear this, I got a grade 2 tear in December and am not pushing heavy yet (5 rep range typically). I got a dimple/line in my armpit that is very noticeable and I do not think it’ll go away. So hearing that you got a major rupture and managed to get back or improve - it means a lot.
*You have a nice group of gym friends, including John* If I were at your gym it’d be cool working out with you guys. I’m motivated after watching your vid. Today, I’m going for 45x12, 55x10, 65x8, 75x6, 85x4, 95x3. I know it’s nothing much compared to you guys, but it’s getting me stronger with cheerleading/dance. *Thanks for another great vid*
These have become too wholesome. Youre too nice. I want vids like the old ones where you catch people reactions. I wanna see you humble dudes as they stare in disbelief. You should start trolling a bit more lol.
I love seeing your son doing Jiu-Jitsu. You should get him into scholastic wrestling as well. Great sports that teach humility and toughness. Also, alot more functional than American karate.
You are a legend on RUclips and probably one of the pound for pound strongest I’ve seen. I have those thoughts too and have since scaled back the heavy lifting I use to do in high school and college days. I still try to go for 5-10reps but I think as I get older I try to embrace recovery and want to stay in this game as long as possible. Love watching people push the heavy weights like you, Larry Wheels etc. Huge inspiration and keep it up!
I love watching your videos! I’ve actually been benching for quite some time but switched to trying your benching routine with percentages a few months back and have had amazing results! Thanks man and keep up the great vids!
pull ups are so underrated. they help with building the lats but also a base for your back to sit as a stable platform against a bench when you're lifting heavy.
He’s not big into taking large amounts of protein and calories. His dad use to have heart problems so he doesn’t over eat. He explained this in previous videos.
he dont care about this stuff bro , he got a family raising 2 kids a wife youtube channel his fishing, whatever he does for work, and hes nearing 40 now despite only looking like late 20s
Sorry I don’t track this, I just eat regular portion meals and avoid soda, pizza and deep fried foods (sadly, bc I still dream of eating and drinking these things).
great video as usual. also, really glad to see the kids in bjj and even more so that they like it. i've got all three of mine (7 and under) in bjj. great for them in all aspects of life. keep it coming.
I've been watching you for a while wishing I can lift this type of weight again. I finally hit 365lbs comfortably with no spot last week. (Probably shouldn't do that but I was feeling optimistic) It would be an honor to lift with you if you're ever in the Broward county area.
if you're concerned about reducing chances of injury, it might be good to throw in hypertrophy periods, or even just days, doing multiple sets of 6 reps or more or something. It might even help break through plateaus too.
From what I have seen with arm wrestlers, they follow their low rep high volume stuff with very low intensity but a lot of reps for tendon work, however I don't know if that would help with shoulders.
I think dumbells are way safer. In my youth, I was into fairly heavy barbell. I could do 335 for 6-7(that's all the weight I had) but I was getting hurt every other year. When I moved over to dumbells, I realized I was struggling with 120lbs in each hand at first. Injuries went down to almost zero and now 20 years later I'm still doing over 100s on dumbells. Haven't had a shoulder injury in decades.
There's this body builder, joey swoll who calls out rude people in the gym who disrespect others for getting in their way filming. Occasionally, he would praise the few in his videos who handled the situation well. You would be the few I see him praising.
LOL Lucas is just like I was during wrestling practice when I was a kid. Do whats asked for half way look around then run rest of the way cuz damn it was tiring
You should try bjj or something too. I remember Matt Hughes benched like 500 in his prime and he would just straight over power everyone including gsp.
Great vid as always brother 👍 regarding asking people to work in is fine as long as you're both on similar level otherwise I think it can be counter productive, also on your last vid you ask a group of 3 lads which also I don't believe is a good idea cause of the wait time and you cooling down cause of the long wait. No hate just my opinion keep up the good work 💪
I wonder if this is clean: The plates are extrem shacking, even when the man touches them soft at 5:39 you can see the right plate is moving immediately, like it has no weight.... When i touch 45lb Plates nothing is shacking this way, ...i do not know if this are fake weights... And the pull ups are good, but i do about 20 pull ups that way, ... so he is weaker, ... but every push he does when bench pressing is exact the same quiet and tension....My body builts up tension from head to feet, when i bench....first the arms, at 200lb, then chest and stomach at 250 lb, and at 300 lb everything is trembling and full tension,...but he always has one speed, one tension, one movement... I do not believe it.
Hi, I have not squatted at all, but I’ll start taking a look at the squat rack again to see if there’s an opening. I gave it up bc I got tired of waiting on it EVERY TIME.
Nice video man! You have a beautiful family btw. Hopefully one day I'll have a nice family of my own and have all the fun I can. Keep up the great videos! 🤗
I damaged my shoulder once and are only doing dumbbells but you have inspired me go for 1 rep max in the same style as you, only with dumbbells and I have gotten immediate PR's from it. Does this carry over to dumbbells as well? How much can you lift using dumbbells?
When i was younger, i tried getting my friend into lifting with me. The having to change weight constantly was something that made him uncomfortable. Some people prefer lifting with others who are on the same fitness/strength level as them.
Hey man, I saw the clip of you benching 410 lbs on one of Zyzz Brotherhood's videos (Zyzz - "staring contest!"). I just subscribed to them. It's a good channel for workout motivation. Do you ever think you'll get back to or even surpass a 410 bench?!
I don’t think it’s affecting me any more. It’s been 13 months since I’ve had it. The one positive I see outside of a (hopefully) stronger immune system is it corrected my bench imbalance where one arm went up faster than the other.
Hey man, new to the channel, really amazed by how strong you are while keeping training simple and having other things going on in your life. I just watched your comeback video and I want to know more about your wrist injuries. Were you trying another program when those accumulated, or was it just life stresses piling up and carrying over to the gym without programming changes? Looking back, do you have any idea how would you go about not getting injured in the first place? Thanks for the great content and your time.
Thanks for watching. The first time the wrist injury happened, it was due to trying a new movement; close grip bench for triceps. I had my grip too narrow and was doing too much weight. The other times, it wasn’t due to a new movement and thankfully the injury was shorter than the first time. If I could go back, I would’ve tried to be disciplined enough to use a lighter weight so even if I had the wrong form, the injury wouldn’t have been as severe.
Hey how's it going, I really enjoy your vids , good content and entertaining to watch, I was hoping if you could tell me how long it would take me to bench 315 (I'm benching 190 atm) and what sort of training I would have to do.
Hi, thanks for watching! I can’t give you a timeframe, but here’s my program incase you’re interested in trying it: ruclips.net/video/tsX-ShMsP9s/видео.html
Do you do pull ups and tricep extensions every time you do chest? How many sets/reps and how often days do you work chest? Thanks in advance for any info! Stay strong!
I dont think they care if you filming, for me it helps for squat or bench for speed to make sure I dont get stuck and work on technique or fall for squat, as long as you dont bring crazy equipment they dont care it helps for safety ambulance on standy to measure how the weight moves or improves
How’s your wrist been treating you? I see you squeezing your hands after heavy lifts. I hope they won’t continue to bother you much. The world needs more over beast mode Long XD
Thanks for asking. They’ve been good. I am constantly checking on them before and after sets to make sure everything feels good otherwise I’d back off. Appreciate you!

1st, Glad to see the upload! It's chest day for me today.
Literally my bench inspiration, i started with just the bar, now im at bodyweight, i look forward to the big 100kg one day 🫡🫡
It will come sooner than you think.

Hey man its really nice of you to ask people if they want to work in with your sets just letting ya know Thumbs up!
Your pull up form is so clean
Just watching this guy makes me stronger, swear my bench went up like 20lbs since he started posting again
Greetings from greece!!

Who said pull ups were underrated? They literally help you with every exercise, except maybe squatting.
Your boy Jake was on a roll catching those bass!
For sure!!
I’m curious mind sharing your protein/calories intake daily if that matters?

Increasing his protein won’t hurt his overall health though.
