Would you recommend that for competitive gaming? Just for that. Edit: I'm talking about rainbow six siege if you're familiar. I need imaging, I need to know where the noobs are so I can kill them. Do you think it would match? Cause ATM I'm thinking about the GSP 500
Quite a different beast compared to the GSP500. I would definitely recommend it, as I personally use it for competitive gaming (overwatch, csgo, rss). I've used so many different headphones and headsets over the years, and this is a total winner. Ad an external Mic to it and you're golden!
@@itooosh9974 Well well well... I need to make a video on this, I guess, haha. Anyway, the GSP500 has more bass, the excellent audio overall, but the fit and clamping force are a bit less comfortable, plus its heavier. Considering the soundstage, imaging and sound QUALITY, the GSP500 isn't bad by any means, but they are not in the same league as the Jubilees. Its a matter of personal preference, and if you like a more bassy sound signature, you may end up enjoying the GSP a bit more, but when you put everything into consideration (and when you evaluate all the sound spectrum, not just the bass end), that's where the Jubilees leap forward. ;)
@@towsifshahriarshovo Drop shipping times can vary depending on when you ordered. Personally my headphones arrived about two weeks after I had ordered them. Since the headphones are currently ready to ship on their website, expect something similar. Hope you enjoy your new headphones!
I found my 58x jubilee to be too tight (clamping), so i opened them up, set them over my bookshelf speakers for about 10 minutes and voila! perfect clamp
i have the 600, 660s and 58x(i bought 2 actualy) and i think the 58x for 150 are a nobrainer. i like all 3 of them for different reasons. the 660s is a little bit more detailed, the 600s upper mids (vocals) are way more forward which is nice with certain music and the 58x is more relaxing and has more subbass than the other 2. i use equalizer apo with oratory1990s settings to make them even better but if you dont plan on using eq the 58x is the best imo. specialy with price in mind. i havnt heard the 650 but my guess is they would be too warm for my taste.
Thats quite a collection! My since you EQ them, I'd say the 650 isn't a worthy replacement for any of the other 3, but at the same time could be an interesting addition to the roster, just for completeness' sake. They feel the 650s are a bit too "harsh"/direct to my tastes. Not sure if I'd call them "too analytical", but they are warmer than what I usually prefer. Oh, and thanks for sharing your experience with them, dude. I appreciate it ;)
Bet it sounded terrible cause of YouPoop compression lol. Can't wait till I get these for my Birthday! With ny extra money I'll probably by the Fiio K3 even though I have one of the best onboard audio cause this will blow it out of the water and also it's portable and will work on my Switch.
Finally you are back! Been really thinking about these or Massdrop's HD6XX, but then HD660S came out, simply insane headphones, but at the same time quite costly and these not getting on Massdrop any time soon. Awesome video as always, love the edits and relaxed, laid back style with lots of Peter Mckinnon vibes! Thank you for a chance to win, you are the best.
Yo!!! Long time no see! Welcome back, dude! ;) Glad you enjoyed it! Been trying to evolve the RUclips game haha. Good luck dude, but go to Massdrop and request this thing again! 'Cuz they are completely bonkers! Cheers! \o/
@@TheChazas Based on what DMS3TV (another YT reviewer) said, 660s are not really worth the extra cash over 600 or 650, yet alone 6XX, as they are very minor upgrade from them
@@Artem_Shepelev the 6xx is a 650 for a bit of a lower price... The difference is way too subtle, tho, so I'd still choose the Jubilees over them because of the sound signature.
Just grabbed a pair. Cannot wait! Lookd around at different options for a loong time and finally decided on these hd58x. Seem like the best headphones for the price by far
@@TechHyped You recommend a dac/amp with these? Or is it even much of an improvement? Also heads up, when I made an account on Massdrop they sent me a $20 Off my first purchase too! great deal!
@@AboutThatTime420 1st, awesome that you got $20 off... They're already the top dog for the money, and $20 makes it better so... haha. As for the dac/amp here's my take: Dacs = ALWAYS. Your onboard sound sucks. Period. Amp = for these guys, maybe. Depending on the dac you might get enough volume that you'd cause damage to your ears already, even if that's not the most you could push them. The Jubilees benefit from being amped, but it's not 100% mandatory for them to be awesome already. ;)
Hey man. You're the reason I got the SHP9500 and I absolutely love them. Are these a huge upgrade from them? Is it worth buying these to replace my SHP9500?
Now THAAAAT's not a fair question... Come on! I love both of them =[ Anyway, yes, the 58X is a better overall headphone with a sound signature that's "close enough" in comparison, with a less "airy" sound stage, bit more low end and mid more mid-forward as well... You know "Sennheiser vocals". That said, unless your SHPs are broken, I'd say "wait until they break" to upgrade to the 58X.... Or if you just really really want to upgrade to something but are not looking at over $250-350, then yeah, by all means. The 58X is a GOD in it's tier, for sure. Oh, and by the way, glad to know I helped you pick something before hehe ;)
@@TechHyped lol thanks man! I think I'll wait until they break then. Do you think these are the good for gaming, or is it more for music listening? I noticed you said the soundstage is a bit pulled back compared to the shp9500.
@@oddfellow8366 I love them for gaming. Both of them, actually. The slightly less "airy" soundstage doesn't mean its anything too closed off in comparison, it just "sounds less like it's coming from speakers". It's less "open", so to speak. The more mid-forward and tighter vocals are excellent to add to the imaging. They are my preferred headphones for gaming, flat out. I've been using other stuff in some situations just to keep it fresh, but especially for shooter games, these are my go-to ;)
I just ordered my set, super excited. Ended up needed another pair of open back cans after my DT990 Pros got the very common right ear not working issue. Beyer wouldn't honor the warranty either because I bought it through amazon.
@@patrickf6120 Quite a bit... The Fidelios are known for 2 things: BASS and sound stage. The 58X has less bass and a less INFINITE sound stage, but the imaging, speed, precision and layering on them are arguably better. Tonality and sound signature is also quite different. They're more "intimate". The Fidelios are $160 fire. The 58X are $500 fire (hd660s doppelganger, basically). But at this point you're basically talking about expanding your collection. Don't think of them as something to get and forget about the X2s. []'s
I've had the pc 360 for a long time now. If these sound and last like them its a winner. The only reason I would ever replace them is if I found a wireless set that clicks all the boxes and I havent found them yet.
I love how Massdrop partners with Sennheiser and brings out a fantastic Headphone at a great price and instead of enjoying them everyone wants to argue and force their opinion based on nothing on everyone else . I had the HD414 bought in the early 70s as well as all the 6 series except the 660s which I returned because the sound signature is very close to the 58x . The 660s is better looking but not $350 better looking or sounding . They are killing off the 6 series line and due to Massdrop making the 6XX and 58X it is the last chance to get a legendary headphone for silly low prices so enjoy them while they last .
I'm torn between hoping you're not "lashing out" at me for the video, or feeling a bit sad for being the spark for the first part of your comment =[. But since I'm a "Positive Over Negative" kind of person, I'm going to assume the former hahaha ;D I never had the joy of trying out one of the old school early 70s and 80s Sennheiser originals. I did get to experience a couple of cool stuff when I was a wee lad going to recording studios and radio stations with my dad in the 80s, but I was FAR from able to appreciate what was playing sounds on my head haha. Why it never occurred to me to contact some of these old pals of my father to see if they still got some of those classics to try out, I have no idea... A bit too focused on the NOW, maybe. Well, added to the to-do list! Anyway, I totally agree with you on the 660s v 58X (well, as if the video itself didn't make it obvious enough). Massdrop has been successfully pushing out some amazing products on various categories, and I hope they keep it going with Sennheiser for a long while to come. This competes with Sennheiser directly only up to a point, and actually help get a lot of people INTO this market in the first place. I already know a couple of people who went for the Jubilees, have no real need to upgrade to a HD700 or 800s, but are planning to do so down the line just 'cause... Ok, no one really "needs to upgrade" to a $1.8k pair of headphones, but these 2 guys are fortnite streamers for cryin' out loud. AND both of them listen to spotify on MEDIUM quality streaming to "hog less bandwidth" (and download on medium quality to use less storage space on their smartphones). Well... $150 is a joke for the Jubilees, no 2 ways about it. Are there $50 headphones that would do the trick? Depending on what you're doing, yes. Will they be as good as the 58X? Nope! (even for fortnite and medium quality spotify streaming).
Hi , I listen to music through tidal (hifi or MQA) and I am purchasing a Cyrus soundkey , will my setup be able to push the HD58X’s ? Would appreciate any guidance as I’m just getting into this stuff haha
Yes, it would, but as I've seen around, if you're using it with an iOS device is sort of useless due to something that makes those 2 things not play nice with each other... As for pushing the HD58x, it will, yes ;) The 58X is pretty easy to drive, even if it does benefit from an Amp. o/
Tech Hyped Thanks a lot for the advice 😊 I have used a friends headphones ( AKG K702) with my iPad (tidal Hifi) and Cyrus soundkey and it seems to work just fine , and I have a slightly higher budget and wondering if the HD58’s would be as detailed but also a bit livelier/exciting than the AKG’s ?
Well, to my ears, yeah. The AKGs are more "boring", in the sense they are flatter. Not to say they're bad headphones by any stretch of the word, they're just flatter. The 58X is an absolute beast for the money. At the end of the day, headphones need to be enjoyable for what you want them to, so if you want them to be fun and detailed, alive, having a bit of a punch etc, if the headphone delivers on those aspects, it's exactly what you need. The 58X is basically that, for me. Just as pretty much everything I've ever heard from Beats is too heavy on the bass for my tastes. ;)
What about gaming? Does it have 7.1 or Dolby? I’m a heavy gamer but not a multiplayer I play alone and rpg games. So I do really care about amazing sounds. I know Xbox you can download Dolby audio on the App Store so would it work?
This is an audiophile headphone, and it's like REALLY freakin' good. It doesn't come with multiple drivers or 7.1/Dolby software, but if you downdload software that does that (or use a dac/amp that has those options, like the GSX1000 for example), It'll work fine with any of them. Probably WAY better than any 7.1 headset ever would, even if the software you're using to mimmic the 7.1 is crap. These aren't magical tho, so if the software is crap, I'll sound like "beautiful crap" on these, while other headsets would sound like "plain crap"... hahaha!
I was thinking of these or the Logitech G635. Thank you for the quick reply I definitely appreciate that and I’ll subscribe because of that in the good info.
@@user-mn8ue3su7n You're welcome dude, and thanks ;) Welcome aboard! \o/ Between these and ANY gaming headset, these will 100% blow the rest out of the water. Hell, even the Game Ones from Sennheiser (or the PC37X from Sennheiser + Massdrop), which are current go-to headset can't compete with these. Yes, they have a microphone and the 58X doesn't, but there's no comparing them. Unless I need a mic, the 58X are on my head ;)
Well, I'm not the biggest fan of the K7xx sound profile, but it's a gorgeous, wide and airy sounding headphone as well. And it sounds really good, don't get me wrong. Comfort-wise I think I even like it a bit better for the more relaxed design, but between the two, I'd still go for the Jubilees in a heartbeat.
Compare the HD58X to a 50-60 dollar headphone only is not a fair comparision in my opinion. I got the HD58X Jubilee myself. But with shipping cost and additional fee´s to Sweden they cost more than HD599, DT880 and just 10-30 bucks less than AKG K712 Pro. The HD58X does not beat either one of the three I mention in my opinion. It´s close between the HD599 and HD58X but I prefer the upper bass/base and soundstage the HD599 offers. Usually I don´t like a 200Hz bump but the HD599 handle it very well and adds some boby to the sound. Sound quality wise the HD58X wins by a small margin, as an overall headphone I prefer the HD599. Get the HD58X for $150 is a very good buy for you guys in the US, not for gaming tho. Disappointing soundstage and ok pinpointing characteristic. There are better options out there if you play fps or battle royal titles. Sorry, english ait my native language. Best regards from Sweden
Oh, the comparison to the SHPs was just to have a reference against another open back pair I had readily available, really. You can't really compare sound quality between the two, even if the SHPs sound a LOT better than they should for the price point ($50 to $75, not the $200+ you see them for now that they've been discontinued!), but the comfort and soundstage are two insane positives of the SHPs, and the differences were quite interesting for me, still. Oh, and overall I was pretty happy with the soundstage and positional audio for gaming! Could it be, maybe, the dac/amp situation making that much of a difference? How are you driving them? Just for curiosity ;) Regarding the other pairs you mentioned, I wouldn't say the Jubilee's are beneath any of them, directly, tho. The HD599s for one.... The Jubilees are a version of the 660s with a bit of tweaking here and there, but they are still an overall "copy" with a different coat of paint. The Drivers alone make a huge difference, but since it's sound signature related and neither are bad drivers, I can totally understand your point. For me the Jubilees sound better, and even if 599 is lighter (10 grams haha), comfort is equally awesome despite the difference in padding structure. As for the DT880, I'd condense it into: "good but not wow"... Don't get me wrong, the 880s are a great pair, pleasant, not too harsh in imposing anything to you (they don't throw low/high end in your face), but more agressive as well, and they can play all frequencies quite well. They are much more "fixed" in the imaging, not really giving you all that accuracy and positioning of instrumentation, but the sound stage is also pretty wide at the same time. Separation isn't "omg!" but it's there and it's good... Oh hell, they are good, but not "wow"... Especially for $180-$400 (so many variants as well, geez), and the Jubilees for $150 are a super easy "wow" to me! All that said, import fees can screw up all that math anyway ;/.... I mean, you start off trying to compare 2 headphones that should cost $150 and $200 respectively, and then the $150 one jumps to like $250-$300, and it gets real hard, real freaking fast! Anyway! I REALLY appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, dude! Thanks! Hope you enjoyed the content even if our opinions don't match, and I'll be glad to see you around the comment section again in the future ;) Vi ses senare, kille! Skål! ps: if that's totally wrong, blame Google Translate hahahaha ;D
@@TechHyped I drive my headphones through a Aune S16 DAC/AMP combo. I said that the HD58X sounds a bit better than the HD599, but I prefer the HD599 coz of the bigger soundstage and that nice 200Hz bump which they handle very well. In terms of comfort. I give it to HD599, less clamping force. I got both, and both stays. Haven´t heard the SHP9500´s but I´ve tried to find them to a reasonable price without success in Sweden. As you mension, the price difference between US and Sweden mess things up a lot. Here is the difference between AKG K712 Pro and HD58X $10-30. I call it the same price range. For you guys the AKG´s costs dubble the amount as the HD58X. Beyers DT880 (250 ohm) costs at the moment $159.99 at amazon, a better buy than HD58X in my opinion. It´s all down to individual taste like whisky, wine or food. I´ve listen to the debate about how close - or far away - the HD58X´s are compare to 660S. Some say they are almost identical and some call it rubbish. If I remember correctly they don´t share the same driver. I haven´t tried the 660S yet, so I can´t give you my opinion of how close or far away they are in sound reproduction. We use "skål" only when we drink alcohol. You can end a text message and use "skål" to a friend if you are - or going to - drink/party, just to make him jealous :) Any headphones coming in for review in the near future? Keep going Best regards from Sweden
@@Irukandji1981 oh, geez! You're driving them much better than what I've got here hahaha! I see what you meant by the 599s. And you're right, its a bit looser than the Jubs! The SHPs are kind of a joke, now... After being discontinued, prices skyrocketed all over the world, aside from AliExpress. You can grab one for $65-85 there, still, but that price hike for you in Sweden is pretty big. No wonder it makes chosing between headphones like these a bit of a mess. But at the end of the day, its all about the personal tastes, just like you said. Since we are appreciators of good audio, we can bask ourselves with many different options, just like enjoying japanese, indian or italian food. Each has its place, strengths and weaknesses, but none are absolutely 100% always better than the other - unless your taste buds absolutely HATE pasta, for example, and Italian food is a no go for you haha. As for the 660s, the 58x driver really seems to be a tweaked version aside from the foam and possibly a couple of material changes. That means its not IDENTICAL, but its like making 2 swords out of the same mold, but using a different looking handle for each. I guess I'll have come up with some way to show/compare them in video for you guys, but to me, if you get the 660s and EQ a little extra bass and ever so slightly less pronounced highs (such a little dip that you could say its acceptable variation out of the factory), Im not sure I'd be able to tell them apart. Maybe due to the dampening of that "aery feeling" on the soundstage due to the foam... Maybe... For $150, the 200ohm DT880s will always be worth the price. Jubs, 599, 6xx, SHPs, 880, are all worth their original msrp pricing. No-brainer options, for sure (if you have the means to power all of them). Thanks for the pointer for Skal! I'll keep that in mind to make someone jealous hahaha! ;D It was the instant translation to "cheers", tho I thought it could mean something more literal. As for future reviews, got an entry leve AKG, couple of gaming headsets, which isn't the same thing, and a couple of other wireless and wired headphones incoming. 2019 will keep me pretty busy 🤘🏻🔥
@@TechHyped You doing it the right way. Seperate headsets and headphones. Even if there are overpriced crappy headphones out there (in my opinion), headphones and headsets generally plays in different leagues. Headphones in the elite league and headsets in the minors. The MMX 300 or ATH ADG1X might be a headphone with a non detachable mic. Haven´t tried either of them tho. The best solution is a standalone mic and proper headphones. But I understand the all in one solution with headsets. Been there myself.
@@Irukandji1981 Exactly. Totally separate ball games. I'm super pumped to check out the new HyperX + Audeze Planar Magnetic headset, tho! That could be a pretty big game changer, but at the price, it'll easily rival solutions like a pair of 58X + a ModMic, which starts to put it in a tough spot where sound quality needs that much more attention. But it's as you said, the all-in-one appeal of headsets is very enticing, even if headsets get, in general, quite expensive when Mic/Audio quality starts climbing up... To the point where an entry-level table mic + a GOOD pair of headphones would do a better job. Still, there are really good headsets, and as a point of reference, the overlap between the Headset buyer and Headphone buyer isn't as big as some would think. Very specific markets, even if the core product is still something that goes on your head and plays sound, haha.
Divided opinions in audio community might be around the NO need of an amp to make them "sound great." This is a great value for some Sennheiser 'plug and play' headphones. Does this takes away fun? Not at all, at least for me, you can still make your rig, listen to a flac or either an mp3 file and you will enjoy it.
Excellent point. Benefiting from an amp doesn't make it useless or crap without one, it's just that you won't be getting 100% of what it could deliver. Thanks for sharing bro ;)
Hey man love the review, I'm kind of in a pickle. I can get the dt990's for 100 EUR and and amp for 60 EUR, should I buy the HD58x's and import them for around 150 EUR without an amp or should I go with the DT990's? I use them mostly for CS and stuff, music listening isn't as important to me but I do like being able to tell apart the synths from the bass and stuff. Thanks and again great review!
Thanks! Glad you liked it ;) Now for your query... well, the 990 has more bass, better comfort and you would be able to get the amp... That said, neither *NEED* an external amp, the mids and highs are more detailed and better controlled on the 58x, imaging and soundstage are better presented on the 58x as well. Not to say the 990 is a bad option, I just like the 58x better.
Hi thank for the video, which one you suggest for nintendo switch? i know those headphones requirement more *ohm* but which one is lower or which one you recommended for nintendo switch without any extra amp? (so i can play on portable mode)
Hey dude! I don't own a witch but I have seen people using plenty of different headphones and headsets on them. Not sure to which extent does the Switch power them correcly, but it seems like "enough". That said: - If you play multiplayer stuff and need a mic, I'd suggest the PC37X in a heartbeat. - If you don't care about the mic, but need isolation, I'd suggest an AudioTechnica ATH M40X - If you don't care about mic AND isolation, the 58X should be a good pair. I mean, smartphones can power these, so the Switch shouldn't have a problem! Cheers! ;)
Thanks bro! Appreciate it ;) As for the ps4 Controller, I have no idea haha. I'll look into it, but if you can plug in a 3.5mm headphone, these should work... That said, they'll probably be a bit quiet due to power delivery. But that's just me speculating, because I don't really know how powerful the ps4 Controller is when it comes to powering headphones. I'll let you know if I find something out ;)
I wouldn't, as I haven't tried the HD300 Pros yet. Since they are reference for studio monitoring, I'd wager they're as flat as they come.... You know, for monitoring purposes. Still, that'd be an interesting video... Guess I need to get the Pros in the office here ;)
I wouldn't compare them, really. You're looking at headphones targeted at mobile usage (momentum) vs a studio grade pair, but even without an amp, I'd take the Jubilees 101 times out of 100. Even if the Momentum can be pushed to higher volumes, that wouldn't be very safe/friendly to your ears anyway.
Thank you for explaining and your comparisons. Too many reviewers are subjective when comparing price to its bigger brother. Amp is cleaner and easier to drive. Excellent review!
Do you think that they’re the best you can get for playing immersive single player games in this price range (idk if I should get something with a bigger soundstage)? My absolute max is $200 but I’d much rather pay around $150 or less. Btw I’m not going to be using an amp, I would just plug them into my tv. Great video btw.
Thanks bro! Appreciate it ;) As for the headphones, I wouldn't worry about sound stage to be honest. This has more than enough and sould amazing for gaming. I use it for all my gaming aside from when I'm playing something competitive where I need to speak to other people. The AMP would be an added benefit, but not NECESSARY... Unless your tv, for some reason, has very low volume output capacity through the 3.5mm, which isn't a common thing, you'll be fine for volume ;) In short: these cans will be your crown jewels without a doubt. No worries there. And you can always, eventually, level up your game with a cheap-ish amp with a clean signal output ;)
Tech Hyped thanks for the quick reply! Based on what you said I think that I’m finally going to chill with constantly researching headphones and settle down with the 58x. I’m coming from the ath m40x so I think that this’ll definitely be a big enough upgrade. Oh and yeah if I put the tv volume at 100% with my m40x’s I would die.
To be quiet honest, they are not based on a 500$ Headphone though... They are cleary a HD580 Remaster. Which was around 300$. Which had the same driver as the HD600 and HD650 (of course a earlier iteration). The HD660S does not share the driver with any of the HD580/600/650/6xx... The HD660 has a 2nd generation HD700 driver in an HD6 Line casing and certainly a HD600 kind of tuning. The HD58x are somehwere between a HD580 and a HD650. That doesnt make them bad. Thats pretty amazing. But they are no HD660S. Which may or may not be better or worse depending on you taste. The HD660S is technically better ever so slightly then the HD600 Line, but it also hast the same smoothness at least to my ears. But it has a slightly higher resolution.
I'm not even mad just because of your avatar/pic... w3 ftw. haha. Still, this discussion on the drivers, where it comes from, the construction, what they're based on and that sort of stuff... Its honestly weirdly complicated since there isn't much "officially said" about this. Either way, the main point is, as you put it, they're "almost" an HD660s, which can mean they screwed up the 660s tuning, OR they just created a huge problem from someone that tuned the 58X into something super close to a $500 pair haha. For the money, they're definitely worth it, and the difference, at least to me, isn't there enough (in sound, I mean, the 660s looks SO MUCH BETTER) to merit going for the $500 one.
@@TechHyped Haha^^ Yes well as i said. I wouldnt truly say better anyhow. I mean. I hear a better resolution from the HD660s Driver than the HD600 HD58x driver. BUT to be quite honest. I do EQ on my HD660S to make the signature be more tasty. While the 58x Jubilee actually does conform more to my sound preference. Even for 500$ id be hard pressed to decide between any of the HD600 line. (58x included). They are very similar. But also show some differences. The old HD650 was my favorit of the bunch. With EQ i like the HD660S most. But if i hadnt the option to EQ them properly like when using them on a hifi system instead of a PC regulated system... id probably say the HD58x are the better choice... warmer and more lovely imo. But i mean they all are not far apart from annother... you know at first second the HD580 is the father and they just all fell pretty damn close to the tree.
I've noticed the sword from your review on the SHP9500S but I missed the little flag glued on the pole by the side of your desk, but this time I saw one of your power outlets and that three holes pattern gave you away =) You are actually my fellow countryman, aren't you? Your English is pretty good, but paying more attention I've noticed your accent also. Nice move by choosing to speak in English, If I were to open an RUclips channel I guess I wold do the same in order to reach a much more broader audience. Keep going º_
That's what I call attention to detail! (or lack there of, in my case apparently) You've got some eagle flipping eyes there, mate! Originally hailing from the place of the terrible wall outlets, yes. I know the struggle. ;/ Here's to the broader audience strategy eventually paying off... haha ;)
@@TechHyped Actually my eyesight isn't that good, but I have Sherlock Holmes' observational powers =) I just wish my hearing skill could be on the same level... By the way, the HD58X are back on Massdrop. Pity I have already burned up all my budget for headphones in this month.
@@Kamugin1 Elementary, dear Watson... Elementary! The 58X will probably be up and running for a while until the end of the year, and there should be quite the number os new cool goodies coming to Drop from what I've heard, but since they're also dependant on the partners for manufacturing, you never know.
Just got my 58x. First thing off the bat they are sooo much quieter than my old 60 dollar headphones. I’m not getting good awareness in my games and can barely hear footsteps from like 2 fr away. I’m not sure what’s wrong. Should I be using an amp??
Hey bro! This is weird... The 58X is a pretty efficient headphone and pretty much any smartphone can power them to well enough volume that you'd be blasting your ears off... This is weird. How are you powering them right now, exactly? And what was the old $60 headphone? How did you power it? ps: these will benefit from an external dac/amp, but that shouldn't be a requirement for them to be THAT low as you've described.
What are you gaming on? PS4 controller isn't strong enough to power them... if you're on PC then plug them into your motherboard, not into your front IO, and either way your motherboards sound card might not be powerful enough to drive them. Just get a cheap amp or amp/dac combo.
@@TechHyped so I did figure out the issue. Playing off my phone they are pretty quiet, the phone definitely can’t power 150 ohms properly, they play, but not nearly as loud as they should be. My computers onboard sound card rated for 600ohms made these things sound like a tin can. I ended up buying a gsx1000 amp for my computer and they sound great now although i have issues with the amp itself now, I can’t seem to figure out how to update it and all of sennheiser apps seem to do nothing. Anyway I’ve also bought the Pc38x and I’m using them now instead of the 58x jubilees, they sound almost identical but I little better rounded in my opinion
In controller terms I have no clue to be honest but despite them not being the easiest headphones to power, ever, a cheap dac/amp combo will always be a good move.
The 38x haven’t made it here just yet so I haven’t tested them, but I imagine they’re as everyone says, a better 37x, which was already dope. For gaming, especially in an “all-in-one” scenario with the mic and everything, I’d gravitate towards them as well. The Jubilees are still better cans, but I can appreciate the hassle tho. Onboard audio is virtually useless from how bad it is (usually), but the phone thing, I know most phones wont push them extremely well, but I’ve not tried them with one that’d be THAT quiet either... Luck of the draw, maybe? 🤔 Oh and the GSX, I had the same problem with the unit I was testing. On one machine it didn’t work properly and on another, all good, but no software to speak of. Have you tried Sennheiser’s support?
Why, thank you dude! Glad you enjoyed ;) And thanks for the question, actually... First time if I'm not mistaken! Here you go - top songs I'm listening to while trying out new headphones (right now): - Hellblade: Senua's Song (Dan Bull) - The Path (Miracle of Sound) - Ocean Bed (Communic) - Lord Willin' (Logic) - Contact (Daft Punk) - Bad Company (Bad Company) - My First Rime (Dan Bull) - And The Songbird Sings (Dan Bull) - Under the Water (AllttA) - Skellige Winds (Miracle of Sound) - Sellout (Dan Bull) - No Time For Caution (Hans Zimmer - Interstellar Soundtrack... HOLY CRAP) - Hotel California (The Eagles - 'cause.... Why not?) - Money (Pink Floyd) - Wish You Were Here (Pink Floyd) - Last Light (Miracle of Sound) - Metro Exodus (Dan Bull) - Needle In The Groove (Dan Bull) - Tribute (Tenacious D) - Sick Sad Little World (Incubus) - Out of Exile (Audioslave) - Man or Animal (Audioslave) - Judith (A Perfect Circle) - Gravity (A Perfect Circle) - The Hollow (A Perfect Circle) - Life in Color (OneRepublic) - Counting Stars (OneRepublic) - Voices (20syl/Rita J) - Lady of Worlds (Miracle of Sound) - Wake the White Wolf - Metal Version (Miracle of Sound) - Teardrop (Massive Attack) And then add some Adele, Janis Joplin and Amy Winehouse to the mix for some more female vocals ranging quite a bit (like, all over the place), but nothing too specific in terms of songs. Oh I also actually enjoy a bit of P!nk in the mix, 'cause her voice is quite nice (to me) and I like her range as well. Woops, got a bit carried away there haha! Cheers, dude!
Audio interfaces typically can’t drive headphones too well, their dac is excellent but the amp is weak sauce as it has to provide the mic with phantom power
True that. But most audio interfaces can drive anything that can also be powered by a smartphone directly. Well, I mean stuff that a smartphone can push properly or "good enough" at least.
A pair of the originals?! I'd say you're probably better off with the 58x, or a pair of HE4XX at this point since the build of the originals isn't as good and they had a couple of issues like sound stage lacking width, and some complain about harsh highs in some units... Granted, that sounds like a quality control issue, but you get my point.
Tech Hyped thanks for the reply I’ll hopefully get a pair of those 58xx for Christmas like to compare the sound of those to my high end HD600 and budget friendly Phillips 9500 been looking to add a nice mid range headphone to my audiophile collection you got any other recommendations in that $100 to 200$ mid range category
@@jacobcharters6614 no problem, dude! As for other recommendations, in that range, I'd say the 6xx and the HE4XX. On the closed side of the fence, ath-m40x
Hahahaha... Less known? Well, alright, compared to Sennheiser I guess Monoprice isn't a super brand, but the 560, 1060 and 1060c are aaaawesome as well! Dope choice! 😁
@@TechHyped To the average person, yeah. I think the signature(and imaging) is better suited for gaming. Not that they are bad for music, but I would prefer the 58x for that instead.
Yes! Yes I should... My bad, I got one in the studio last year, couldn't get to it for a while then I had to get it back to it's owner and forgot to get another one hahaha... I'll get to it! Promise ;)
@@TechHyped and in the Review i want to now how it compersion in soundstage with those two and sound leaking is it the grado sr80e really open back headphone
660s and 58x don't share the same driver. They might have similar sound signature, but the driver is inferior, Sennheiser did say that. And the back foam is only here for aesthetics and doesn't affect the sound. All of this are misconceptions brought to community probably by Zeos
I saw Z's review on them, obviously, but he's not wrong. The foam does affect a little bit of the low end, but the most difference it makes is in that "aery feeling" on the soundstage I mentioned. At least to me. As for the driver, they are the "same" driver with a different tuning, but the construction is in fact, a bit different. Come to think of it, that makes it a different driver, like, for real... So you're right haha. Still, they are like "based on the same mold", so the overall comparison kind of still stands... Kind of... The point of the sound quality did come across tho, right? Despite that, hope you enjoyed the video, still. ;)
@@TechHyped Are you sure it isn't placebo? Because to be honest, in sound demos it is almost impossible for me to distinguish 58X with and without foam. Though it might just be that demo rig and RUclips can't reproduce the differences
@@Artem_Shepelev oh, RUclips is a mess with the compression... I still havent tried to come up with a super sterile recording rig because of that. But its not just a placebo effect, although writing this I realized the "extra" low end is actually a consequence of that less "aery" sound stage. As soon as I take the foam off, it sounds like there's more air coming through, and I tested with my studio all closed up to minimize ambient noise and with doors/windows opened (half, kind of and all the way)... Same results.
@@TechHyped There are actually some sound demos on YT that are quite good and give an a decent picture of what headphone sounds like Glad you like 58X's. I've recently got 6XX and they are damn great, nice to see more people enjoying Sennheiser sound signature
@@Artem_Shepelev yeah. They are absolutely lovely. Sennheiser's sound isn't always comfy for everyone haha. As for the demos, there is some good stuff around, but it's not that easy to record properly. Im investing in a couple of new toys for the channel that SHOULD allow me to try in a better way in the future, you know, not having to rely on hanging the headphones in front of a cardioid mic, hehehe.
Your video really made happy I just ordered these. All of these meticulous gordan ramsey audiophiles/ youtubers almost make the headphones sound boring
"Gordon Ramsay audiophiles" UHIUAHSUHAHSUAOHUS!!!! Oh God I've laughed a bit too much with that one hahahah! Anyway, thanks mate. I'm glad you enjoyed the video, and hope you enjoy the HELL out of your pair ;)

@@TechHyped Alright then. Seems like it's settled. Thanks a bunch! And for the quick response!
@@TechHyped how would you compare them against each other tho?
@@itooosh9974 Glad to be able to help out, dude! Welcome aboard, by the way ;)
@@itooosh9974 Well well well... Its a matter of personal preference, and if you like a more bassy sound signature, you may end up enjoying the GSP a bit more, but when you put everything into consideration (and when you evaluate all the sound spectrum, not just the bass end), that's where the Jubilees leap forward. ;)

Welcome aboard!
I appreciate it ;)
Watched the video on my 58x Jubilee! :-)
Bet it sounded terrible cause of YouPoop compression lol. Can't wait till I get these for my Birthday! With ny extra money I'll probably by the Fiio K3 even though I have one of the best onboard audio cause this will blow it out of the water and also it's portable and will work on my Switch.
Thats a nice plan 🤘🏻
Finally you are back!
Been really thinking about these or Massdrop's HD6XX, but then HD660S came out, simply insane headphones, but at the same time quite costly and these not getting on Massdrop any time soon.

@@AboutThatTime420 1st, awesome that you got $20 off... They're already the top dog for the money, and $20 makes it better so... haha.
As for the dac/amp here's my take:
Dacs = ALWAYS. Your onboard sound sucks. Period.
Amp = for these guys, maybe. Depending on the dac you might get enough volume that you'd cause damage to your ears already, even if that's not the most you could push them.
The Jubilees benefit from being amped, but it's not 100% mandatory for them to be awesome already. ;)
Tech Hyped thanks I really appreciate the advice! I'll look around for a great dac for sure!
Me too! Bought em yesterday. Hows your pair going?
Hey man. You're the reason I got the SHP9500 and I absolutely love them. Are these a huge upgrade from them? Is it worth buying these to replace my SHP9500?
Now THAAAAT's not a fair question... Come on! I love both of them =[
Anyway, yes, the 58X is a better overall headphone with a sound signature that's "close enough" in comparison, with a less "airy" sound stage, bit more low end and mid more mid-forward as well...

@@TechHyped Are the HD58X different enough to Fidelio X2s (and as good) for me to buy them?
@@patrickf6120 Quite a bit... The Fidelios are known for 2 things: BASS and sound stage.
The 58X has less bass and a less INFINITE sound stage, but the imaging, speed, precision and layering on them are arguably better.
Tonality and sound signature is also quite different. They're more "intimate". The Fidelios are $160 fire. The 58X are $500 fire (hd660s doppelganger, basically).
But at this point you're basically talking about expanding your collection. Don't think of them as something to get and forget about the X2s.

As far as today's tech goes, I'd say we'll be looking for that for a while more, still ;/
But yes, I agree.
Hd6xx Vs hd58x which to get
My personal preference = 58x.
660 > 58x > 560s > 650/6xx > 38x > 37x > 600
But since I'm a "Positive Over Negative" kind of person, I'm going to assume the former hahaha ;D
I never had the joy of trying out one of the old school early 70s and 80s Sennheiser originals.
This kinda made me thinking if I should buy 2 more pairs of these to keep in stock once they eventually fells apart from wear and tear?
All 600 series, including 58x, have intimate soundstage . Not big by any means . I like them and have them all .
As for pushing the HD58x, it will, yes ;)
The 58X is pretty easy to drive, even if it does benefit from an Amp. o/
Tech Hyped Thanks a lot for the advice 😊
I have used a friends headphones ( AKG K702) with my iPad (tidal Hifi) and Cyrus soundkey and it seems to work just fine , and I have a slightly higher budget and wondering if the HD58’s would be as detailed but also a bit livelier/exciting than the AKG’s ?
Well, to my ears, yeah. The AKGs are more "boring", in the sense they are flatter. Not to say they're bad headphones by any stretch of the word, they're just flatter.
The 58X is an absolute beast for the money. At the end of the day, headphones need to be enjoyable for what you want them to, so if you want them to be fun and detailed, alive, having a bit of a punch etc, if the headphone delivers on those aspects, it's exactly what you need.
The 58X is basically that, for me. Just as pretty much everything I've ever heard from Beats is too heavy on the bass for my tastes.
;)
Tech Hyped great stuff ! Really appreciate the advice 😊 love the channel

These aren't magical tho, so if the software is crap, I'll sound like "beautiful crap" on these, while other headsets would sound like "plain crap"... hahaha!

Any idea about K7xx ? How does that compare with these
Well, I'm not the biggest fan of the K7xx sound profile, but it's a gorgeous, wide and airy sounding headphone as well.

Just for curiosity ;)
Regarding the other pairs you mentioned, I wouldn't say the Jubilee's are beneath any of them, directly, tho.
Thanks!

I'll keep that in mind to make someone jealous hahaha! ;D
It was the instant translation to "cheers", tho I thought it could mean something more literal.
Thanks! Glad you liked it ;)
Now for your query... well, the 990 has more bass, better comfort and you would be able to get the amp...
That said:
- If you play multiplayer stuff and need a mic, I'd suggest the PC37X in a heartbeat.
- If you don't care about the mic, but need isolation, I'd suggest an AudioTechnica ATH M40X
- If you don't care about mic AND isolation, the 58X should be a good pair. I mean, smartphones can power these, so the Switch shouldn't have a problem!
Cheers! ;)

Does work on ps4 controller?
Thanks bro! Appreciate it ;)
As for the ps4 Controller, I have no idea haha. I'll look into it, but if you can plug in a 3.5mm headphone, these should work... That said, they'll probably be a bit quiet due to power delivery.
But that's just me speculating, because I don't really know how powerful the ps4 Controller is when it comes to powering headphones.
I'll let you know if I find something out ;)
@@TechHyped thank you so much
I just got these , for gaming purpose, should I keep the foam in or out ?
Troy Sanchez in.... definitely in hehe
What would you compare the 58x to Sennheiser HD 300 pro
I wouldn't, as I haven't tried the HD300 Pros yet.
Since they are reference for studio monitoring, I'd wager they're as flat as they come.... You know, for monitoring purposes.
Still, that'd be an interesting video... Guess I need to get the Pros in the office here ;)
Tech Hyped sweet thank you!!
You're welcome, dude!
How would these without an amp compare to momentum 2.0s?
I wouldn't compare them, really. You're looking at headphones targeted at mobile usage (momentum) vs a studio grade pair, but even without an amp, I'd take the Jubilees 101 times out of 100.
Even if the Momentum can be pushed to higher volumes, that wouldn't be very safe/friendly to your ears anyway.
@@TechHyped hi and thank you for the review. I have momentum 2. Should I upgrade to those?
Thank you for explaining and your comparisons. Too many reviewers are subjective when comparing price to its bigger brother. Amp is cleaner and easier to drive. Excellent review!
Thanks dude! Glad the review helped ;)
Cheers!
Thanks bro! Appreciate it ;)
As for the headphones, I wouldn't worry about sound stage to be honest. This has more than enough and sould amazing for gaming. I use it for all my gaming aside from when I'm playing something competitive where I need to speak to other people.
The AMP would be an added benefit, but not NECESSARY... Unless your tv, for some reason, has very low volume output capacity through the 3.5mm, which isn't a common thing, you'll be fine for volume ;)
In short: these cans will be your crown jewels without a doubt.
@@patrickmoney1894 you're welcome dude! Glad to help ;)
And if your M40 can kill you if at 100%, you'll be alright with the Jubilees! ;)
Have fun!
Tech Hyped thanks man. Whenever I get them I’ll let you know how I like them.
@@patrickmoney1894 Awesome! I appreciate it! Cheers, man!
@@TechHyped Haha^^
Yes well as i said.
Nice move by choosing to speak in English, If I were to open an RUclips channel I guess I wold do the same in order to reach a much more broader audience.

Great video! Ordered mine and should be in by end of the month 🤞
Thanks dude! Hope you enjoy them! 👌🏻🔥
Oh and the GSX, I had the same problem with the unit I was testing. On one machine it didn’t work properly and on another, all good, but no software to speak of. Have you tried Sennheiser’s support?
Love the Music you are listening to and glad you added it to description. could you add some music you use to test speakers or headphones. like top 20

And then add some Adele, Janis Joplin and Amy Winehouse to the mix for some more female vocals ranging quite a bit (like, all over the place), but nothing too specific in terms of songs.
Oh I also actually enjoy a bit of P!nk in the mix, 'cause her voice is quite nice (to me) and I like her range as well.
Woops, got a bit carried away there haha!

Still using/recommend these? Dropping atm.
Yes and yes.... heck yeah!
@@TechHyped yeah, bless that the HD 58X is very easy to drive
Has anybody compared these to the original hd 580 jubilee looking to get a pair
Does it need an external amp?
"Need" is such a powerful word.... Nah, just kidding. The answer is nope! does it benefit from one? Yeah, but it doesn't NEED one.
For gaming, the 58x is amazing, but I prefer a different, less known headphone for gaming, the M560(covers removed). Sue me. :)
Hahahaha... Less known? Well, alright, compared to Sennheiser I guess Monoprice isn't a super brand, but the 560, 1060 and 1060c are aaaawesome as well!

@@TechHyped There are actually some sound demos on YT that are quite good and give an a decent picture of what headphone sounds like
Glad you like 58X's.
