What's kinda great about this is Mike Trout wore #2 as a little leaguer because he loved Derek Jeter. He was his childhood hero and now he gets to bat him home in the ASG. I find that pretty amazing.
+Daniel McConnell Im a Yankee fan through and through. Love DJ and think he's the greatest ever. What get me is all the young shortstops who've become superstars who all wear number 2
michael schwarzwald well he wasnt that good at defense besides the jump throw and the running catch. and hes only 6th on all time hits. hes not top 10.
The Twins are a class act. Even using the late Bob Sheppard's announcement for Derek Jeter. You couldn't show more respect than that. Hats off from a Yankee fan.
Gamer Life Throughout his playing career yes. However his last season and beyond that I have seen nothing but respect to him. Jeter’s final at bat at Fenway Park he had a standing ovation.
As a lifelong Yankee fan much Respect you're one of the Red Sox fans I'd have a beer with as much as I didn't like Ortiz when he played against my team I'll always respect Big Papi.
I've been watching the Yankees regularly since the early 90's, and there's not one other player that I loved to watch more than Derek Jeter. He almost always had a short conversation with the catcher, sometimes with both players smiling. His routine of stepping into the box, and nodding at the pitcher once he's ready. That inside out swing was a thing of beauty. I've never seen a player that can just will his team into winning.
Growing up in New York and playing Little League, all my friends who were Yankees fans idolized Jeter, including me. I'd always try to be #2 because of him. Baseball just isn't the same without him.
DankFuzzball58 it never will be man. I remember playing baseball from the age of 6 to 18 and there wasn’t a game that I played where I didn’t try to play like Jeter at shortstop. There are some people in sports that are just irreplaceable no matter how good someone is there will NEVER be another #2 like jeter.
As a Twins fan, to see him do this in our ballpark was just great, and fitting. The Yankees have been brutal to my Twins for almost 20 years... But he's still the class act of baseball.
Derrick Jeter was a great shortstop and kept himself out of the media. In my eyes, he's an excellent player because of how he balances his personal life and his professional life.
All facts. Even as a young kid I always respected him for how he was off the field as much as on. Never caught up in controversy, he just was a calm and cool playboy off the field. He performed well on and on off 💪🏾🤣
This was even better on live TV, if for no other reason than everyone getting to hear the guy that chanted "overrated" right before Jeter shut him up with a double.
SpikeyArmidillos he actually later denied that saying it was only a joke and he would never do that to taint Jeters final All Star Game. Just his words not mine
Fox edited out the guy shouting "OVERRATED" during jeter's first at bat. I kinda wish they left it in, because jeter immediately belts a double to shut him up.
***** Juiced? Does he look like Barry bonds, or AROD jeter got hits worked hard and played the game right to say he juiced is an insult to the game of baseball
when he played his final game at fenway the sox asked him if they could play bob shepards intro for him and he said no and that it should only be played at yankee stadium. wonder how he felt about the twins using the intro.
I just noticed the core 4 retired in 2012,2013, and all together in 2014 2012 was posada, 2013 was Andy Pettite and Mo, and Jeter finished it off in 2014
Don't forget also, A-Rod and Tex in 2016. The first half of this decade was a loong farewell tour for many Yankees. The end of an era, and a start of new one (Judge, Sanchez, Severino, Betances, and hopefully Hicks, Castro, Gregorius, Torres, Frazier, and Bird too)
I was Derek’s biggest fan whenever I had games wore number 2 and after school always would watch him every single game I wish he didn’t stop I wish I meet him one day. Also he motivated me to make me a good ball player hit 4th on my little leauge team hit bombs and lasers. Thank you Derek
2:24 that stat is absolutely ridiculous to me. I know the Yanks were unstoppable for the late 90s and early 2000s but to only play 1 game in a 20 year, 2700 game career where you're out of the race is insane
What a true ball player he love the game so much great sportsmanship and a good example for the kids on the greatest careers any man could ever have a true Yankee
Derek Jeter is my favourite player of all time. To me his legacy is all the players who are superstars now who idolized him growing up. Many are wearing his number #RE2PECT
Legit that RBI Triple from Trout was the immediate passing of the torch. Probably the Derek Jeter of our generation, one of the most loved players, the current day best of the best (Jeter probably wasn’t the best last generation but you know.)
The captain..the all time Yankee hit leader..that's alot of great pin stripes to over come.to say that..class athlete.. class off the field... semper fi..
Can't stand simpletons who want to bash jeters play defensively. Stats don't mean anything in baseball. I know the guy didn't have much range, but his talent and effort made up for that. I watched him every game for years and he rarely made an error or a mistake. Even if he didn't have the best range.. he made up for that.
+Dave Bohnen dj is not the greatest ever lol
+william stafford he's a top-10 player in baseball and the greatest shortstop to ever play.
michael schwarzwald well he wasnt that good at defense besides the jump throw and the running catch. and hes only 6th on all time hits. hes not top 10.
Wataru Gray hes not even top 5 yankees lol do you even know baseball,
The Twins are a class act. Even using the late Bob Sheppard's announcement for Derek Jeter. You couldn't show more respect than that. Hats off from a Yankee fan.
TheGuyWithTheSniper, I wish we cleaned up the chant for number 2
Sen Bhapiro Thanks man. We may not be friendly to the Yankees in October, but we still have respect and class for our opponents.
I don't think they had a choice 🤣
My town. My team. But Derek Jeter was baseball. He deserved that send off. Amazing ball player.
This gave me the chills and I'm not even a Yankees fan. Heck I'm not even much into baseball anymore, but Jeter is a true legend!
Nick P. He's teash
Rob sin your trash

That hit from Mccutchen to that Jeter catch and almost getting the out is what an all-star game is all about. The best of the best going all out.
Gave me chills when they played the recording on Sheppard announcing Jeter. Legend

1:11 You have Jeter performing his final act while in the background Mike Trout prepares to become the next legendary face of the MLB.
MANCHESTER UNITED what’s your point?
MANCHESTER UNITED but baseball is growing and becoming more popular and is better anyways. Go watch soccer then
@MANCHESTER UNITED I'm a football fan, It's called football not soccer ya degenerate
@M by that logic mcdonalds is the most important restaurant on planet earth

Such a humble and classy player, Derek Jeter is a legend 💯
I've seen jeter play many time what a great guy
Growing up in New York and playing Little League, all my friends who were Yankees fans idolized Jeter, including me. I'd always try to be #2 because of him. Baseball just isn't the same without him.

If you dislike Derek Jeter , you're not a baseball fan .
Whisper some truths in my ears big man

Heroes get remembered
But legends never die
This was even better on live TV, if for no other reason than everyone getting to hear the guy that chanted "overrated" right before Jeter shut him up with a double.
They said "Derek Jeter" like the bleacher creatures do in right field at Yankee stadium
He's talking about during the LIVE game. A guy chanted "overrated" right before he hit the double. They took the chant out of the RUclips video.
Wainwright gave him pitches to hit look it up
SpikeyArmidillos he actually later denied that saying it was only a joke and he would never do that to taint Jeters final All Star Game. Just his words not mine
I dont hear anyone yelling anything
I love how Jeter makes everysingle moment count

Lol true 😂😂

Overated ...in the ALL-STAR game?
when he played his final game at fenway the sox asked him if they could play bob shepards intro for him and he said no and that it should only be played at yankee stadium. wonder how he felt about the twins using the intro.
They didnt use the Yankees intro they used the All Star intro that hes uswd for every all star game since shep passed away
No he said the last place he wanted to hear it was Yankee Stadium, that’s why because it was his final game.
Man I miss this guy . Been a fan of Yankees since 1998
I just noticed the core 4 retired in 2012,2013, and all together in 2014 2012 was posada, 2013 was Andy Pettite and Mo, and Jeter finished it off in 2014
Mo retired after 2013
Posada 2011, Pettitte and Rivera 2013 and Jeter 2014
Don't forget also, A-Rod and Tex in 2016. The first half of this decade was a loong farewell tour for many Yankees. The end of an era, and a start of new one (Judge, Sanchez, Severino, Betances, and hopefully Hicks, Castro, Gregorius, Torres, Frazier, and Bird too)
The T-10 and now Stanton if he picks up his game
2015-18 all saw new members of the 3000 hit club-
A-Rod
Ichiro
Beltre
Pujols
I was Derek’s biggest fan whenever I had games wore number 2 and after school always would watch him every single game I wish he didn’t stop I wish I meet him one day. Also he motivated me to make me a good ball player hit 4th on my little leauge team hit bombs and lasers. Thank you Derek
Jeter is a class act. One of the best players to ever play the game.
One of the classiest players of all time! Guys like him and Ripen Jr
You don't find anymore!
No tricks here
No cheating
No banging trash cans or wearing buzzers
Just pure skills talent and respect
And he did it in the roid era
2:24 that stat is absolutely ridiculous to me. I know the Yanks were unstoppable for the late 90s and early 2000s but to only play 1 game in a 20 year, 2700 game career where you're out of the race is insane

tells the catcher ' you tell him what to throw dont let him have a say in it. " absolute class act
Derek Jeter is my favourite player of all time. To me his legacy is all the players who are superstars now who idolized him growing up. Many are wearing his number #RE2PECT

It's been 6 years and I'm still tearing up.
This guy is the ultimate winner.
Really is amazing to see
one of the best to ever play the game
I love all star games, and it's even better when a player is leaving or something. Makes it memorable and also it makes the game wayyyy more fun
Definitely deserves to be unanimous hall of famer next year! His pal Mariano did, so can he!!
Mo was the first ever to get 100% ballots.... Let's see if history repeats itself
This aged well
I love the new York Yankees and I love decker Jeter
He is the Yankee leader always
I was at the game his number was retired...one of the best moments of my life as a yankee fan and one of the biggest Jeter fans ever

Jonjon Russo Manny machado or seager are better options
S.C. Harnois ummmm no

Why was tulo not clapping jeter was his idol
Static Bunny probably was but they didn’t show him
And now he's gonna try to play for us.. weird??
Mike trout behind him is just lmfso amazing
Good sportsmanship by Wainwright and the NL All-Star team.
One of a kind and so missed.
Kobe and DJ were my favorite athletes. They were the same kind of player in their sport. Same mentality. Just straight assassins

Love that they played New York, New York when he left
I get goosebumps when I see Jeter
I've seen this video a lot and never noticed that the ad board in the background showed the "RE2PECT" ad
I can't get over that 1st play! Amazing. I believe the brother McCutch' was out.
Uno de mis favoritos y un excelente profecional dentro y fuera del terreno algún día lo conoceré y le algunas reguntas de su carrera .
Jeter was one of a kind. Always smiling but boy you didn’t want to pitch to him. True all around great pro hitter.
