I'm a Dogers fan and have always hated (but respected) the Yankees. To me Derek Jeter is like Sandy Koufax. It didn't matter if you were a Dodgers fan or not, you liked Koufax and its the same with Jeter. It didn't matter if you hated the Yankees, but the way Jeter played and carried himself, you can't help but like the guy. He's a class act on and off the field.
As a Red Sox fan myself I know how this rivalry runs deep in our bones. But it's all in good fun. But we all know respect. And this is respect for a legend.
between the chair of broken dreams they gave to Mariano Rivera, and the send off they gave Jeter, you can see the respect these two clubs really do have for each other.
I've been a Yankee Fan since I was 5 years old, and Jeter is my all time favorite player, in the 57 years since I've been watching the Yankees play. I had the honor of meeting and shaking hands with him halfway through the 1998 season, and he was very pleasant and kind, and we all know that was a banner year for the Yankees. I saw his last game at the Stadium on my Birthday so it will be a memory I will always cherish, and yes I cried! :) LOL
Yankees fan all day but respect for the Red Sox fans and organization for saluting DJ.. he always hustled no matter the hit, always gave it his all, never had any off the field issues and always played the game the right way truly a stand up guy my favorite player ever. I always revisit this moment.
This comment reminds me of something a Yankees fan said about "Sweet Caroline" being played at Yankee Stadium after the Marathon bombing: "We want to tell the world that we're the only ones allowed to mess with Boston."
@@hotdogwater7037 Yes, baseball has been doing this for about a century with retiring players. Lifelong Dodger's fan, certain players deserve and command the respect of their free players and all fans. Derek Jeter was absolutely one. Props to the Boston fans for showing class to a classy player. Total respect.
As a Jays fan, I have a ton of respect for this moment. Also miss Pedroia and Ortiz. Fun to watch, though hated when we faced BOS and NYY. Nothing but respect
I am a lifelong Red Sox fan. Nomar is my favorite player of all time. Jeter won his last game at Yankee Stadium, yet still chose to play the final series in Boston. His last hit wasn't that walk off single. He gave his team a 3-0 lead at Fenway. He was always the Yankee Red Sox fans could never hate. Class act, class player, and the ovation here is more than deserving. Jeter deserves all the respect he has and I can't wait for his long overdue HOF induction.
Watching this game after his HOF induction brings back great memories. Thank you Red Sox team and fans for a great sendoff for our Captain so many years ago.
I read through these comments often. As a Yankees fan since 94, this brings tears to my eyes. I have never commented but just wanted to say thank you, Boston fans.
Their is and will ALWAYS be a rivalry between the Red Sox and Yankees, sometimes nasty. But Red Sox fans are Baseball purists and will acknowledge greatness. Just like Yankees fans, who cheered for Big Papi at his last Yankee Stadium game. Most Red Sox fans repected and liked Jeter. They might not admit it but they did. I also know alot of Red Sox fans respected Rivera too.
Born a Red Sox fan and will be for life and that doesn't matter one bit when watching greatness in a Yankee uniform. All respect for Jeter ! Thanks for playing the game #2
Professional athletes are rare in this world.. but the ones who actually get to have curtain calls after an amazing career are even rarer. I always wondered what a moment like that felt like. Must be truly awesome. Also must be awesome to retire at 40! haha
Jeter was/is all class... and humility, despite being all clutch! He made it easy for this Red Sox fan (my first allegiance was the Expos before the move to DC) to appreciate the rivalry all the more and even show admiration for the Bronx Bombers! Much respect to you and Yankees fans!
It was a great moment and was at that game. Best Yankee and Red Sox game I ever attended, every fan respected each other for #2 and all he did for the game. As a lifelong Red Sox, I respected and applauded Jeter for all he did for the game.
Thank you Boston and Fenway for giving our Captain a respectable and gracious standing ovation as a legend concludes his career on your turf. This truly shows how greatness and sportsmanship transcends a long and bitter rivalry. I hope us Yankee fans can repay you someday once you manage to produce a homegrown talent worthy of our admiration. 🤣 I had to. 💗
No, just No. Babe Ruth is the greatest player in the history of the game. Derek Jeter is not even the greatest player at his position, greatest player to ever wear Yankee stripes, or his era and was never the best at any given point on his own team.
If his final game couldn't be at Yankee stadium, then Fenway would be my next choice simply because of the great history between these two iconic franchises. Perfectly played !
As a lifetime Sox fan I gotta say Jeter is an amazing player and man . He played the game right . Congrats to him on a career full of accomplishments and memories . Class
One of the biggest rivalries in sports history and the level of respect from Boston for Jeter shows what a class act the Red Sox franchise is - warms my heart and I am a Cubs fan but also a fan of baseball.
This gives me chills as a Dodgers fan. Jeter was so great that even Red Sox fans had to give it up for him. I don't think we'll ever see another Jeter. Yankees were blessed to have him for so many years
There is something special about watching these two historic teams matchup. Best rivalry in sports in my opinion! A perfect mix of hatred and respect. Cheers from a Brewers fan 🍻🍻🍻

I don't think Jeter was the best, but I think he was one of the classiest men to ever wear any uniform in any sport. He represented the game of Baseball as well as anyone could have ever asked him to. It was amazing to see the Fenway faithful respect him the way they did.
Holden308 I'm a diehard Yankee fan for life, since birth. Thanks for your kind words.
Nobody liked Sandy Koufax
Im a dbacks fan and I hate dodgers
Same way I’m a yankee fan and hate the Red Sox but have so much respect for David Ortiz
kevin russell lol
As a Red Sox fan myself I know how this rivalry runs deep in our bones. But it's all in good fun. But we all know respect. And this is respect for a legend.
I love how he turns and runs to the mound to shake hands with the pitcher. A respecting and respectable sportsman to the end.
To see the Fenway Faithful on their feet for Jeter is something I'll never forget. #Respect
between the chair of broken dreams they gave to Mariano Rivera, and the send off they gave Jeter, you can see the respect these two clubs really do have for each other.
Who else watching in 2019, man, I miss him😢
Me too
I've been a Yankee Fan since I was 5 years old, and Jeter is my all time favorite player, in the 57 years since I've been watching the Yankees play.
Im here nearly crying, all the players I used to watch when I was little are now retiring.
+Giovanni Moya Don't worry bud, they will also die...
You're getting old
Wait until they start daying
A lot of the players I watched when I was a kid are passing away ONE after another.
Two years later I was in the Bronx seeing Big Papi's final at bat. He got a standing ovation. The greatest rivalry is between siblings.
This comment reminds me of something a Yankees fan said about "Sweet Caroline" being played at Yankee Stadium after the Marathon bombing: "We want to tell the world that we're the only ones allowed to mess with Boston."
I love Girardi from the dugout: "What do you want to do? You want to end there?" And Jeter chooses to end.
#Girardi is pure class,,,,he asked what should happen next'''
man cmon give it a rest
Fransisco M 😭
i think girardi took him out so he could get the theatrical exit
@@hotdogwater7037 Yes, baseball has been doing this for about a century with retiring players. But usually they wait for the retiring player to take the field on defense, then send out a defensive replacement. The retiree gets to walk back to the dugout amidst all the applause. Yastrzemski took a lap around the stadium.
Derek Jeter was the “Light” of that franchise for many years and personally my favorite ball player
Even though I'm a Red Sox fan I still think Derek Jeter is beast mode
Lifelong Dodger's fan, certain players deserve and command the respect of their free players and all fans. Derek Jeter was absolutely one. Props to the Boston fans for showing class to a classy player. Total respect.
"DE-REK JE-TER, DE-REK JE-TER, DE-REK JE-TER"
Gave me chills... thanks Boston for the love shown to Jeet.
No matter where you hail from, you can’t help but respect this man and his accomplishments
I'm a Red Sox fan. Watching this gives me chills. Class act that number 2. And as a sports fan and a fan of baseball, I miss watching Jeter play.
It really shows what type of person you are when you are respected even by your rival team and everyone in the league
As a Boston Faithful, I can remember this day like yesterday. He was one who gave us a run for our money. Respect is always earned and given.
A great player and a class act that will be missed. Thanks for the memories Derek. You will never be forgotten.
Red Sox fans are a class act, beautiful city. Thanks for sending off our cap in a respectable manner
I was there that day. It was bigger than the Red Sox/Yankees rivalry. It was about respect for the game. I'm so glad it happened at Fenway.
Classy move there Boston. Thank you for giving a hall of famer his due. Respect you guys for this. Thank you.
It is not likely in our lifetimes that there will be an equivalent show of respect for a Yankee player at Fenway Park.
No player I’d rather win against, no player I’d rather lose against. Ultimate respect from a Red Sox fan against one of the GOATS Derek Jeter
Also must be awesome to retire at 40! haha
Greg Stephens could retired at 30 lol
yungbleu

God bless Fenway Faithful...
- lifelong Yankees fan.
🤣 I had to. 💗
You did with #bostonstrong
My grandfather told me stories about Babe Ruth, I'll tell my grandchildren stories about Derek Jeter
Joshua Uceta Amen to that
No, just No. Babe Ruth is the greatest player in the history of the game. Derek Jeter is not even the greatest player at his position, greatest player to ever wear Yankee stripes, or his era and was never the best at any given point on his own team.
Damn how old are you or how old is your grandpa?
Quit being a jerk fucktards both people who replied to the first comment not me
Brandon Henderson hate to admit it but its true
Well that made me cry...Yankee fan since age 12...now 72....Boston reds sox...gave Jeter a great send off....my hat off to Boston...
Not a Yankees fan but massive respect for Jeter! Solid man on and off the field
Mets fan here....Derek Jeter in my eyes has always been a class act. For baseball and as a role model. God Bless you Derek....baseball will miss you.
If his final game couldn't be at Yankee stadium, then Fenway would be my next choice simply because of the great history between these two iconic franchises. Perfectly played !
Sox fan and Yankees hater, but Jeter was an absolute epitome of class.
The fact that Derek got a standing ovation from the red Sox who are the Yankees sworn rival shows how great of a player he was
As a lifetime Sox fan I gotta say Jeter is an amazing player and man . He played the game right . Congrats to him on a career full of accomplishments and memories . Class
Much respect to Boston
Born and raised in South Philly but no matter what you always have to give respect where it's due. If I were there you know I'd be cheering for sure.
Talk about good sportsmanship... well done Boston
Boston is the worst and their fans are w em
From a Yankee fan, thank you Boston fans for this moment.
one of the best to ever do it. Thanks for giving me an amazing rivalry to watch growing up. Thank you derek jeter. sincerely, a red sox fan
2:50 "... as Jeter says goodbye to Baseball... and Baseball says goodbye to Him." That line brings a tear to my eyes, and I'm a Dodger Fan.
Not a big baseball fan, but I know about the rivalry here. This stuff gives me legit chills.
The beauty of baseball. It finds a way to bring people together. I've loved the game all my life and I always will.
When Derek Jeter and Ichiro hugged we watched to legends share a special moment
So much respect . Thank you Boston fans . I was able to get a t-shirt that said it was his final series at Fenway .
Fenway park. Standing Ovation to a man who captained the Yankees. Amazing
Respect
In my opinion Giants and dodgers is the best rivalry. But I still agree that but red Sox Yankees is a huge rivalry. go Giants!
One of many proud moments at Fenway. Much respect.
From a Red Sox fan a lot of respect for number 2 been watching him and looking up to him for years thank you jester!!
Dud you spelled Jeter wrong
George Bears Might have been auto correct
George Bears You spelled dude wrong lol
EYEMCANADIAN Might have been auto correct
Ya could be lol
I'm proud to say I live right down the road from the stadium Jeter played AAA baseball.
Columbus Clippers
Don't like Boston fans but this was classy......ima dodger fan and hate the Yankees but out of respect....my hats go off to u Jeter......thank u for everything
Why would you admit to being a dodger fan?
The fuck would Dodger fans have against Boston fans? Red Sox and Dodgers meet each other what...like every 5 years? Get the fuck out of here idiot. Orale esse, call your holmes chewie and that take lowrider out to El monte eh.
