  • Absolutely terrible calls made by home plate umpires including Laz Díaz, Ángel Hernández, and C.B. Bucknor. These are some of the worst strike calls ever, and players like Shohei Ohtani, Kyle Schwarber, and Bo Bichette had the bat taken out of their hands.

It’s simple. See ball hit ball.
You’re only going to get one good pitch per AB. When a hitter has 2 on ‘em, you have to shorten up and protect. Don’t leave strike 3 up to ‘Blue’.
Most, but not all, of the called 3rd strike looking, were close enough for the hitter to make an attempt.
And, a lot of nobody’s begging for calls. As a hitter and pitcher, you’d better have proven you deserve the corners. Unless Angel Hernandez is behind the plate.
    Then, protect your ass.

Any video with this title that does not include Livan Hernandez in the 1997 world series is misnamed. He was getting calls that were half a foot off the plate.

What are the official MLB protocols for reviewing particular calls and/or the performance of particular umpires who have made multiple calls which are clearly incorrect?

Notice how 9 times out of 10, the HOME team gets the crappy calls in THEIR FAVOR?

Umpires are human, but computer balls & strikes cannot get here soon enough....

It's a good guess that the Umpire has a gambling habit.

So many of these the umpire's head starts nowhere near the center of the plate. You'd think they should all have to so that they're looking at it dead on

No doubt MLB needs a computer calling balls and strikes. The human eyes are just too inadequate.
