    I LOVE the Amos and Andy Show. I remember watching with my Grandaddy when I was a little girl. He wouldn't miss the Kingfish for anything. Great actors, all of them. They just don't make good entertainment like this anymore. I loved Lightenin, he cracked me up!! Love them all, thank you so very much for posting sir.

    I think it is wonderful that Redd Foxx spoke out against the official later narrative that deemed Amos+Andy to be 'racist'.
    Mr. Foxx correctly pointed out that Amos+Andy was a great tv show that paved the way for many later black actors and actresses in Hollywood.
    He went as far to say that he himself would likely never have had his success in show-biz were it not for Amos + Andy.
    I bet they all had a ball making the Amos+Andy show,it sure is fun to watch !

    Priceless! Really, much more than adequate for theatrical release! All the elements seemed to have coalesced to produce these masterpieces. I always like the O'Henry ending many episodes seem to have.

    These old shows were priceless. Too bad they're considered demeaning to African Americans. There are many shows making fun of the quirks, predicaments, and idiosyncrasies of other groups of people (green, orange, purple, and white). So, who gives a rat's butt? I in no way use this humor to generalize about anyone. It's comedy for cryin' out loud! I just remember with great fondness hearing the intro music and singing to each of these episodes. Reminds me of good times. Amos 'N Andy forever!

    Wow, I never saw this one! The whole crew should be elected into the hall of fame.
    What now on TV can not to begin to come close so I don't watch modern junk. Fact is,
    I like most of their filming was done in real sets not cardboard staging. I think this is
    the first thing i saw. we got a tv( forget) maybe 1949 only one channel.

      There was nothing racist about this show. The people that attacked it were going after it cause of the radio show. The TV show was different cause they were black actors and no racial humor. It was straight comedy with the most talented black comedic actors of the day

      Because it portrays black people in a bad light. The creators, Gosden and Correll, were not black, but white, and apparently both thought it was totally ok to portray black people as either confidence men always ready to scam someone (Kingfish and Calhoun, the latter masquerading as a lawyer but always helping Kingfish carry out his crooked schemes), extremely ignorant, unaware, and uneducated, (Andy, Lightnin'), and black women as loud battleaxes, ready to yell, scream and fight at the drop of a dime (Sapphire and her Momma). This show pretty much started the wild, unruly, nagging black woman stereotype, which still unfortunately exists today. The only truly upright character in the show (Amos) had the smallest role and many times wasn't even seen being the voice of reason, but was simply behind the scenes telling the story. The NAACP moved to ban it and eventually it was. Yes, I know the reality shows today are 100x worse, yet and still, the success of Amos and Andy so long ago, though it was a funny show, helped to create a lot of negative stereotypes about blacks in other communities, and creators of later shows took and ran with these same stereotypes when they would create roles for people of color, and it's still happening, even today.

      @Brian Watson
      You can find all of this history on the web by googling it. Many factors and pressures and groups were involved. You'll also learn who was controlling the NAACP at that time.
      Money is the root of all kinds of evil. The creators received two and a half million dollars. Tim Moore's last residual payment in January of 1958 was $65.00.
      The original films are locked away in the CBS vaults never to be brought out again--ever!!! So sad.

    When the kingfish was checking out of the hotel, it was then that I was like Andy and Kingfish couldn't possibly be that stupid. I sense why The NAACP was after to get this off the air It sometimes put blacks as real ignorant. However! There are shows today that really put blacks in a real low ignorant light.
