I wish they would have made one with the buttons/pads, but without the capture card, so it would have those extra features from the basic one, but costs less than this one.
Cannot play game over 60Hz in any resolution while capturing or streaming. I bought it, tested it during 6 hours. A real pain so set it to work the firs time while the HDMI setting are set to "INTERNAL DEFAULT" and signal is not accepted by the monitor over. You must use USB-C cable to change settings. Also sounds are limited to 5 seconds. Last thing, while updating it sys to replug USB cables as they are already plugged. In fact you must unplug power to reboot the Bridge Cast X. Really decieved , very poor capture specifications, i sent it back.
The sounds being limited to 5 seconds was pointed out by another commenter and I passed that on to Roland already; the representive assure me he went over it with the development team to find a solution and they are working on it as we speak. It's indeed true that you need to unplug all USB cables when updating the software, as I mentioned in the video this might be a problem you run into if you don't realise this is the case. I asked Roland about the 60Hz resolution and they told me this about it: as the USB-C has to deal with the Bridge Cast X output and the HDMI (the capture card) outout at the same time you start to hit the limits of the cables. You can find the list of supported formats here: www.roland.com/global/products/bridge_cast_x/specifications/ Here is a quote "As I understand it, this is a limitation in the bandwidth of USB-C. Higher specs could be achieved using Thunderbolt 4 for example but this would have made the product significantly more expensive. For example, have a look at the price of some Thunderbolt 4 USB docks compared to normal USB-C ones. This is only really an issue if the customer is using the HDMI input to capture their game. If they are using a single PC set-up to game and stream, the game would be captured locally on the computer and monitored on the same computer. " I hope this clears a bit of your confusion about the specification of the Bridge Cast X for you and why it works the way it works. Normally I reply a bit quicker to comments, but I wanted to make sure I helped you with a comment backed by Roland. So sorry for the delay!
I check periodically for new reviews on these devices I've had the Bridgecast for about a year now, and I just realized today that you don't need the 5V USB cable plugged in if you're only doing headphone output and XLR connections. The PC USB cable is powering everything just fine. I was using both USB cables for a while, but now I have one less to deal with, the 5V removed.
Oh, really? I like the direct feedback on the headphones myself quite a lot, and I don't mind an extra cable (I just have a power socket box with lots of sockets under my desk).
It looks like it's built really well. How easy is the software to use? I have a Rodecaster Pro 2. so I'm looking for a way to have the two units work together.
Great review Trui! I love how you guide us through every feature. The capture card built into the sound mixer looks like a perfect solution for new streamers. ❤
I want to get one of these, I'm hopefully going to get back to streaming but I would majority use this device for casual gaming. Would you recommend it?
I don't cover devices I won't recommend. However if you want my full option I think the Elgato Stream Deck + and XLR dock together are a stronger combo: ruclips.net/video/ywr_mc-WTY8/видео.htmlsi=av_JHcBbKyLQUUwt
I don’t have the option to change the Roland Bridge cast x video capture device resolution to 1080p in OBS, why is that. This thing is a real pain to set up honestly might return it.
Im getting drops of audio and a bit of crackling noises on the bridgecast x , tried changing the bitrate even reinstalled the drivers but still the same . Any help on how to sort it ?
Got a new mixer I see. I recently got the Bridge Cast X and didn’t like the noise suppression and the control pads, being they only allow wav files and only 5 seconds long, so I returned it
I only ran default sounds and the ones you could download from Roland's audio library, so I cannot really speak to the specifics of that, but if you want I can ask Roland about the wav file restriction and their maximum length.
I spoke with my contact at Roland, they are talking to their development team right now to get this sorted and taking this very seriously! Thank you for bringing this up so they can improve their device.
@@trui If you have a contact, you should tell them to make another version, potentially with one more dial, well... Or at the very least, come up with a different way to "label" the dials.. yes, I know you can have mic on the chat dial and so forth, but it would be nice to have a screen or maybe just small "edges" where you could yourself, take a piece of paper and write on and insert it under the dial... or something that would allow for that to change. In any case, I was the first to ever suggest them on the first Bridge Cast, to add the Pads, so I am glad they did that.. but I do not need a capture card and at the price point of this, I just don't see myself upgrading from the normal Bridge Cast to this, despite I would really like those pads, but the Capture/video ability would not be used at all. I'd rather have 2 extra pads and no capture feature.

The software for it looks decent! I'll have a look into it.
BTW, I thought they were using 🍌's for scaling purposes instead of hands nowadays?!
If you're allergic to bananas, you have to be creative 🤣

That's a fair point! The Roland Bridge Cast < (That's like have an X lol)
@@trui hah, well.. it could also just be Bridge Cast P (P for Pads), simple :p

I don’t have the option to change the Roland Bridge cast x video capture device resolution to 1080p in OBS, why is that. This thing is a real pain to set up honestly might return it.
Also my audio for everything is super quiet and idk why. I adjusted the audio buffer size to max in the driver settings program and it did nothing
Make sure to select custom in resolution type first. If it doesn't appear try typing 1920x1080 in the bar.
@@trui I did both and it doesn’t work. I type 1920x1080 in the custom resolution and it’s just a black screen
Thanks so much for showcasing, and the clear explanation!

Elgato HD60 X or the last one Elgato 4K X
