This paved the way for a Rodecaster Streamer Ultra (or something like that). Basically a Rodecaster Pro 2 with 3-4 4K HDMI ports built in. I’d dump my RCP2 and my ATEM Mini Pro in a heartbeat for that!

My only issue with these reviews with any product reviewer is they rarely go back and tell their viewers how well they have held up. We talk about the build and try to get some idea how well they will hold up in the field. But how often does anyone come back and say it started malfunctioning or components started to fail. You did recently have a video where you said a product wasn't operating at peek performance or was no longer supported by current operating systems. However, that is proving to be very rare in product reviews on other channels. Again I'm singling you out as being different in this regard.

@@GeorgeTheTech I think that I would like that. Or people who review products could double back from time to time and tell us if their initial review holds up and if the product proved to be reliable long term or just throw away fashion.

@@seanwebb605 It's a brand new product. Literally ordered mine the day it was announced and it just got in today. There's no way to know how this will hold up unless you reach back out in 3, 6 or 12 months and ask but I think that's what is so great about the RUclips comment system. If you want to wait for the long term, you can come back here and ask how it held up or see if they recommend something different. It's silly to make a whole video just to be able to say either a) it held up just fine b) it didn't hold up and this thing broke or c) we found a better solution and it's X, Y, Z. With that said, Rode's products are great but this is HDMI so eventually the ports could fail. They're more likely to have issues with heavy use of plugging and unplugging and won't be as reliable as a locking BNC/SDI connection. But for most people they won't be constantly unplugging things and plugging them back in. If it's a more permanent setup my only concern would be heat dissipation and making sure it doesn't overheat.

    • @seanwebb605
      @seanwebb605 Год назад +2

@@zephanmoses Please tell me that you know that I understand how time works. How many of these review channels go back and amend their comments are discuss which products didn't actually hold up? We're excited about the new toys. And that's great. But it needs to be tempered with realism. We need to go back and remember which exciting new products turned out to be duds or turned out to be disposable. Many of my favourites have at the very least pointed out that their reviews help create the enthusiasm for buying products even if they aren't needed or won't help a content creator improve their content. Since I really like Aiden and his work I'm hoping that he can continue to set a good example.

The only thing i would wish for is have a speaker out, either 2 XLR ports or 6,3mm jacks to run studio speakers. That way i wouldn‘t need an additional interface when I‘m editing.
And when it comes to video, it would be awesome to have very basic color adjustments built into the unit, before it goes to OBS or anything else.

For me this device would massively help for video content creation - easily bring the mic and camera into one source and take one port on my computer. However where I think it falls down is for console streaming. If you need to connect a HDMI to capture the gameplay and another to capture the camera it presents a limitation. Not sure if a firmware update could allow for the through HDMI port to allow capture too in the future but it would really help. Then it's a true all-in-one streaming device.

I suspect we will see some fascinating firmware updates for the latter two products to keep us on our toes. But, with exciting development like this, I can't help wondering what hardware the Rode Elves or working on releasing next.

I'll hold off on this purchase, but based on Rode's R&D I would patiently wait for the next iteration of the StreamerX. I'm thinking RC Duo+Atem Mini ISO function with the RC Duo form factor. @@Nala_1230 by standards do you mean needs for their setups? If so, most streamers need a more robust video capability than the Streamer X offers. Specifically, a video switcher feature. I would suggest a minimal of 3 input sources but if rode will keep to this form factor we could reasonably see a 2 input source ability in the near future. Audio-wise the Streamer X fills a niche that Rode has expertly marketed.

Hmm, I wonder which gives a better feature set, the RØDE Streamer X or the Atomos AtomX Cast with Ninja V? Interestingly both come from Australian companies. The Atomos provides 4 switchable HDMI inputs, whereas the RØDE gives better audio functions. Of course, you could combine them both and feed the AtomX output into the Streamer X video input. So this leaves me with 1 Question: Can we set an audio delay on the Streamer X, to achieve lip sync from a camera?

    - Can the DSP FX run standalone ? without the app launched

    - Can we connect an HDMI source over the 2nd USB-C port ? And then same question as with the USB mic.

Hey Everybody i hav a serious Question which is discussed before but with no Solution at the End.
My SetUP is a MacStudio with a Elgato CamLink and a RodeProdcaster Pro for Webinars, ONline-Meetings and soon a Video-Podcast.
What i am trying to find is a 2 Camera 4K solution or 2 Video Signal Mixer and i thought the RodeStreamer X could be the Device of Choice..Added Value also i can use Pads as some Midi Key Trigger to have a more Space Safing solution and i dont need anymore the elgato Stream deck. For me its about how to find the perfect Solution for my Streaming Ideas.
    1. Question: Is it worth to think about Streamer X ? is there a way to connect a second 4K Camera or another Video-Signal?
--> The Disadvantages if the Computer is the Videomixer with Software like eCamm or MimoLive is the Synchronisation between Sound and Video. Thats a Advantage i see in a All-In-One Solution of the Streamer X.
    2. Question: Maybe Elgato CamLink and RodePodcaster Pro is already a good Solution? Maybe i want to optimize smth. which works fine so far.

The video capture sets this thing apart in every way.
That said I don't know much about the latest goxlr offerings.
But until they release one with video capture...there is no choice.
Also...Aphex is unchallenged in the market hands down

I decided to get one. The Streamer X doesn't want to update via Macbook with Rode Central and Unify software isn't even out for Mac. I tried it on a windows laptop as well. Same issue. I am heavily disappointed with this experience. Especially since I have their go 2 mic and podmic. The way I see it, I didn't spend 400 bucks to be a beta tester, It should work right out the box and update without issues with all the software available for all OS users. It seems to me they rushed this product out and I"m sending mine back. I guess I'm stuck with other solutions for now.

This would be perfect if it had an output for desktop speakers. Doesn't have to be special, just something other than the headphone outputs. It is tiny, so I doubt there's room, but that is the only thing stopping me from getting it. Other than that it would be the perfect unit. I am not exaggerating, that is the one thing stopping me from getting it. I now have to consider the Rodecastor Duo for $100 more which sucks, because I am on a fixed income. I also don't think the Duo acts as a capture card so I might be forced into a situation where I have to wait for the next iteration of the StreamerX.

Can you ask Rode what is the Bitrate that the Streamer X can output from the device to software like OBS? Im curious. I asked them this but i got crickets, i really hate that about rode. Unless i complain about something on my main youtube channel that has less than 1.5k subscribers, then i get answers but then i also have all the rode Fanboys attacking me just for asking. I wouldn't have to ask anything if they would give technical info on their website for the products they sell lol! I'm a newbie solo creator/videographer and so so tech savvy so I don't want equipment that is complicated to set up or use. I don't mind spending the bucks for gear that does a "quality" job. My gear so far, Shure sm7b, Beyerdynamic DT 700 Pro X headphones, Audioengine Desktop Speakers, Sony A7S III Camera, Fast PC. Use: Talking Head, Voice Over, Podcast, Zoom Calls. Editing in Premiere Pro. The RODE STREAMER X sounds ideal would you agree or suggest an alternative? Thank you in advance for your response.
