"I didn't sign up for this, but it's been a good ride."
"The best."
Thank you mass effect...for everything.
Right mass effect has taken us to some very interesting places and a long the way we have met some very interesting people
And it’s now back
Everything.... except the ending LOL
"We had a great run, didn't we?"
*wistfully* "The best."
I legitimately cry every time.
The goofiness and humour of the DLC was fun while it lasted now it's back to the real Mass Effect story. That's what this song says.
Agreed. ;~;
Nah, I always play this DLC after beating the main story. It is just better that way.
Flashback, headcanon, whatever it takes.... this is the true ending to Mass Effect.
@@OneLastScholar Thanks for replying to my six year old comment. You made me re-listen to the song.
@@OneLastScholar I went through this DLC during the main story for the first time in Legendary Edition, right after Rannoch. I've played it twice before, always after the ending. I don't see any other point in the story where this DLC would fit, morale after Rannoch might be at the highest level, after Thessia everything turns more serious and desperate. The downside is Miranda's not there.
I think I prefer it after the main story. Everyone's available and you don't have to worry about breaking the game's dark tone. And it works as a headcanon, like you said. Or an alternate universe or something. All about farewell
One way or the other it's a great ending for the trilogy
There's a mod for both the original and legendary editions where the Citadel DLC takes place a year after the Reaper War. Ideally, you'll want to have Audemus' Happy Ending Mod alongside it.
In this case, this is song means "happily ever after" and "farewell" to Shepard, the Normandy and the crew.
I love the last note, how it ends while making the song feel... Unfinished. It says that sometimes there just isn't enough time to say all the things that need to be said, and really all that's left is Goodbye.
This is definitely the best franchise send off ever
Yes, it is. Avengers: Endgame is like this but it is a movie... in game world none stands near.
@@illusiveman3325 Maybe the Final Fantasy saga! The 7,8,9, 10, 10-2, 12, 13 and 15 are as emotional and enthralling!
We will remember you all forever
Tali: We've had a good ride
Shepard: The best...
I love you Tali and I will always remember you.
Keelah Se'lai
My stepdad is a geek for Star Wars, my mother is crazy for Star Trek, and as for me, Mass Effect is mine.
Can I join your family?
Assuming control of this family
I'm all three lol.
Why choose just one...?
I love all three.
Sorry to say this but Im kidnapping your Parents
They say "don't cry because it's over - smile because it happened" but... I do both. Thank you Bioware for this game. It is THE best game ever.
im crying right now. and man, this is so true
"It was a good fight."
"A great fight."
"The best."
that moment when Thanes spirit appears next to Shepard.
Thane pulled an Obi Wan
@@GenshinLover283 I hope Obi Wan didn't call Luke Siha lol.
The best ride I ever had in a game... Thank you BioWare !
So I think we can all agree that this is the actual ending to Mass Effect 3
Yup, I like to think that it is...
I save Citadel until after I've done the main game. Citadel then becomes the 'other story' of Shepard the kid asks Stargazer for.
ActionSackGames agreed.
If they fuck up mass effect 4 there are gonna be a lot of pissed off fans
My end to mass effect is after Anderson's death, the crucible fires and destroys all the reapers and Shepard and his crew get out alive 😊
This soundtrack always gives me so much feels.
This perfect trilogy sure was a good ride...
The best...
I listened to 2 fucking seconds of this song and I'm already crying.
When this music started playing, i felt so empty. For me this is the real ending of the game, but still I'll miss Shepard and every other squadmate who are in the game. I think i might got too attached to the characters, and now it feels like losing some friends.
We got the Ryder twins now.
That's what happens when you invest too much into fantasy and don't make real friends.
Shit
@@elock1277 I wish we didn't.
@@jarlsamuelvonwolfensteinth3684 I wish we could of romanced our other half, smh missed opportunity. But Andromeda was decent, I just wish they put more heart into it.
Even though the ending sucks, Citadel ending is the true goodbye to the beloved Mass Effect party.
extended cut wasn't to bad, still not near perfect, but a thousand times better than original endings
Nah, I personally found the extended cut bad. I mean, it's ok if Bioware tried to give us an "art" ending, but the whole catalyst thing feels forced, like a Deus-Ex Machina. It's like "Oh I established peace between geth and quarian and now I have to kill the geth". Also, the nature of the "cycle", as catalyst explains, contradicts what Sovereign and Harbinger say about their goals.
Still a lot better than the original ending, but for me, the real ending was, is, and will be, the Citadel DLC.
I remember when I first played the DLC and I literally jumped out of my seat with excitement when Wrex came out of no where and jumped on that car and beat up everyone in it and even more exited that he was a playable character
these games were something else. calling them a game just doesn't feel right the love, loss, pain and pleasure these "games" brought to you it was just something else
it's more of a story of love pain and more
*sniff*
I'm not crying. I swear.
Best. DLC. Ever.
Thane:- "It was a good fight."
Shepard:- "A great fight."
Thane:- "Then go and finish it. And when you go to the sea, I will be waiting for you at the shore."
i don't think i ever heard this line before. when does it happen?
@@Stinger20638 pretty late but u get it when u romance thane has female shep
I have to listen to this song over and over again, and just thinking how the raid was damn good. I have never been fall in love to any game such this. It is deep in my hard forever. Thank you BIO WARE.
Yeah..i cannot stop crying as well man..just..the best.
Seeing the whole your team watching the Normandy to this music makes my heart melt.
The End of an Era.
I cried a bit when I first heard this. It was the end of The Shepard Gang as they rode off into the sunset.
If you asked one thing that makes Bioware great, it's probably their characters and how lifelike they can get them to be...
Ye, it was the characters, not the story, that made mass effect great
It's a shame how far they've fallen...
I’ve had many laughs and shed even more tears because of these games.
Anyone else use the party as an epilogue?
Before the Cerberus base attack, yes.
It's the real ending for me.
the only correct way to play the citadel dlc
save it for the end right before the Cerberus base assault
satisfying af
Best way to play it is after the ending, honestly.
It's not a game, it's art...
Let's just agree that Citadel is the true ending to the mass effect trilogy.
Mass Effect started as an RPG and has since evolved to more of an action game. The Characters, however, have stayed as beacons of excellent design to other games wanting to create their own iconic characters. With the new release of Mass Effect: Andromeda, and the recent excellent games from Bioware, I'm convinced we will see our beloved series return, stronger and shining as brightly as all the blazing suns in the Andromeda galaxy.
+TheIceDragon No, ME has been the same RPG as ever. Why wouldn't it be?
+Kenneth Donnelly Me 1 and Me 3 are very different
TheIceDragon Can you elaborate? In all ME titles you can play various roles through moral decision-making process. Hence the "role playing game". If you find yourself heavily involved into the plot-changing choices your game character makes, than you are playing a role playing game. It's simple really.
Kenneth Donnelly The focus from characters to combat is from ME1 to ME3 is definitely there-- ME1 had much more thought put in as to how new characters and lore was introduced, whereas in ME3 it's far less unique. Also, the implementation of the "LT / RT" renegade / paragon option... that was just badly implemented and was way too in your face compared to ME1
+TheIceDragon The term "rpg" has nothing to do with story writing methods of introducing new characters and lore: it is a game mechanic that lets the player character to be allowed to choice between more than one role in the story. The introductions of another characters just doesn't make a game a RPG, a RTS, racing, action etc etc
i played with all dlcs from the beggining... i played the dlc, got to this part in front of the normandy and thought "shepard will die no matter what" that whole dlc was the perfect ending for all the normady friendship. a long farewell
It's been a good ride.
The best.
One thing I would’ve loved is if Conrad Verner were invited to the party haha.
The best. (shepard's voice)
Tinder Box
Oh, now you made me all tear up :'(
+Tinder Box *emotions intensify*
+Tinder Box It was a damn good ride.
Joey P.
Haha, same. I've done all my playthroughs with the same Shep and story. With minor tweaks. ''This is Commander Shepard. There are many like her. But this one's *mine*''
A sad, yet sweet goodbye, full of the memories of the bad and the good, the end of a long journey... That's the best way to describe this piece.
At least we threw a hell of a party..probably the last one.
I cried so hard when I finished the game for first time, I was so emotionally invested in every second of all three games. I don't care if the ending was bad, I felt like I was part of the Mass Effect universe. I love these games, I will own/play them till I die. I can't wait for the new game. I love you Bioware... sniff sniff...
I love you, Kaidan. it's been the best ride from the first moments on the Normandy to London. I'll miss you.
I finished this game this week, and I ended up loving the music, it always makes my eyes water
In my opinion, Citadel is the true ending to the trilogy
What I do is I complete the game without doing the dlc then after the ending I boot up a save file and play the dlc and make it my ending of the mass effect series where Shepard is alive instead of dead
don't worry guys. Some day remake of the original trilogy will come. And when it comes, we will be ready.
@@pawe1721 multiple devs from bioware, and EA all seem to point to the exact opposite, bioware is at a point In it's history where their next game will make or break their company, sad bit it is, but I don't think we'll be banging anymore asari, lads.
Thank God for the Citadel Epilogue Mod and MEHEM.

I didn't want this DLC to end, and when this played it made the ending perfect.
In memory of everyone. Not just the dead, because those that live on will not be forgotten either.
Those who wrote this series are gods and I'm proud to worship them.
Oh look, It's the tears again. Pass me the hankie, Garrus!
I so loved this DLC. I finally got a chance to say goodbye to thane... his recordings were really sweet.
Goodbye thane
Goodbye mass effect
I will miss you
Thank you Commander Shepard.
I will do my best to carry on your legacy.
"That doesn't sound like my girl. You'll find a way to win. And when this is over, I'll be waiting for you."
Best franchise ever played. It's been a damn good ride.
Anthony Fanchin "The best."
So many feels that the most amazing game I've ever played is now over.
when all this is over... I will be waiting for you.
Instead of buying Mass Effect: Andromeda, I went back and played Mass Effect 3, and I remembered what made the original games so special.
I am not the crying sort but this fucked me up like i didn't think a game could THANK YOU MASS EFFECT THANK YOU!
I cried like a bitch in Mass Effect 3, this is not a game this is an experience.
Rest in pieces Mass Effect.
You will be remembered.
You know what I thought was interesting? In this scene, we say goodbye to Shep and co. but when they leave, we don't follow Shep into the ship. Think about it. We've been with Shep since day one of this adventure...and now Shep has gone into the Normandy and is sailing off into the wailing dark yet again...this time, without us. We are left at the dock watching as Shep leaves us forever. In the words of a wise man, "It is a good end."
I cry like a baby with this DLC like no other. sniff
This wasn’t a game, it was an experience
One of the best trilogies ever!
What I loved about Mass Effect was the story. Even the ending which so many people hated. The characters, the music, the decisions as Commander Shepard, they all affected so many people and so many gaming industries. People say video games corrupt children, Mass Effect is a completely different story. It takes moral high grounds, it shows the consequences of our actions . What makes the game amazing in my opinion, is the warmth and comfort you can get from fictional characters.
Greatest trilogy in gaming history.
***** agreed
I cried like a bitch. Still think this is ME3's true ending.
I have basically convinced about ten or so of my friends to play this game and they loved it without a doubt. Still don't like leaving the Citadel and going to the final battle where I gotta leave Liara T'soni(love choice) to save the galaxy.
I feel for you, I keep on replaying ME 2 so I won't have to move on to ME 3.
ToaKapura Mass Effect 3, in my opinion, is actually really good. I hate the end, and the beginning is a bit rushed, but otherwise it is totally worth it (if you can get over the end, which I still hope someday they'll change personally)
Twisted Jester I can never go back to liara as maleshep, not after experiencing the Tali romance
mass effect has been a journey that i will never forget. These were the first games that i have played where i actually had emotions towards my crew of the normandy and i actually quit mass effect 2 when i had accidentally gotten one of them killed just so i could change it so they could survive. Brilliant work right to the end and make the next mass effect series as epic as this trilogy
That Got me teared up when i just listen to that music... so nostalgic...
Regardless of what was said about ME3, I'll never forget why I loved the franchise in the first place: it was about the characters; it was about being Shepard, and experiencing the galaxy that BioWare created. I'll never forget what an amazing journey Mass Effect was, and I'll never forget the feelings that we were developed along the ride. The controversy of Mass Effect was just a testament to how much fans actually loved the game.
I'm so sad now! Thank you for uploading this, and complements to the composer.
My favorite trilogy.
Im happy CEM exists. Makes this moment feel, happy
Best times of my life were spent on that ship. It was a damn good ride.
“The best...”
It's been a good ride....
The best...
Anyone who was with Mass Effect from the year it released in 2007 up till then, probably shed manly tears.
I was one of them.
I am not ashamed.
To me, after several play throughs, THIS scene is the true ending of ME3. Goodbye Shepard and the crew of the Normandy.
Until next we meet.
mass effect 3 has gone and passed but nothing truly ever ends does it
This was one of the most heart wrenching scenes in the series... unless you romanced Thane. If you romanced Thane and had this scene you just checked out...
If you romanced thane your reward was more pain
The best... 😢
"Tell me another story about the Shepard."
"It's getting late, but okay. One last story."
Play Citadel.
This piece is beautiful.
This has got to be the best game I've ever played in my life. Most say ME3 wasn't amazing because it was too "cinematic." But it doesn't really matter. It's about the characters, the fight, the romances, and the feeling you get with each character. It's these that make the game so amazing. This is one game that will always live within my heart, and the game that will live in the hearts of many others.
That's how I feel as well. I know it's just a video game, but all these characters just felt real.
Mass Effect is all about the journey, not the destination. Whatever your opinion on the ending(s) might be, it's a game like no other.
For those that fought, for those we lost, for all of us who have loved.
After 1:18 its the Thane romance part. It was beautiful
I can't think about it, otherwise I would cry. *sobs*
The soundtrack of this game is top notch
Exactly. It was the greatest ride I've ever taken, w/ trips to amazing alien, foreign landscapes, to people & friends that'll always remain in our hearts & imagination. Not just characters who grew on us but ones so well written & put together that they were unforgettable even upon your first meeting. SPOILER! In the end fight, when the clone says "why you? Why you & not me? What makes you so damned special?" & then your squad-mates grab you...& that's what makes Shepard so special. It's them...
Bioware never made better companions than in Mass Effect
Or Dragon Age Origins. I miss Bioware.
I agree with you completely, this song along with Liara's song both make me pretty sad. Especially the last scene of the Citadel DLC. The best!
It was an awesome journey, I'm just glad that it's in the form of a game so it's not goodbye forever, because whenever we want we can just load the game right up again, and see these awesome companions all over again.
This music's amazing, but at the same time makes me feel sad, feels like the end of a weekend...
I'll start listen to this every sunday evening before goin' to bed. : (
Listening to this, THE ESSENTIAL GUIDE: 1) Curl up on the floor, 2) Try not to cry, 3) CRY A LOT......THE FEELS ON THE BUS GO ROUND AND ROUND
I will always see this dlc as the true ending to ME3.
I cannot wait to see where they take the series from here. I think this DLC was a fitting end for Shepard
I've read that BioWare is making a ME4, but all I really know about it is that:
1) They have some new guys with them to help.
2) One of the guys said that Shepard will most likely not be in the game.
and 3) if two is the case, then they plan on having the player play as one of the secondary characters (to be honest I've always wanted to play as Garrus c: )
I think I'm gonna cry.
ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL
damn, can't even think about this soundtrack without crying :''''(
When a game creates this much emotional. It can be safely said it is one of the games you ever played
INSTANT TEARS..
Wonderful...
