On my ME 1 playthrough recently, I noticed that a lot of renegade dialogue options go like this; an NPC tells you they've been hearing about your mission and want to give you a sidequest and Shepard goes "So you've been SPYING on me, you bastard? I don't like people following me!" I guess renegade Shepard is just really paranoid about his/her privacy.

Legion dying seemed the cruelest to me. He completely trusted Shepard and in his mind the Geth were defending themselves and made a wrong decision. He says that he never wanted wars between Geth and their creators and just wants his people to be alive and fully realized creatures.
And when you tell him that you are willing to let his people die at the hands of an aggressive enemy during an unprovoked attack, he begs you to reconsider, saying that they would help retake earth and build the crucible.
He tries to save his people and gets stabbed and then shot multiple times staring up at you with the blank expression that is weirdly one of the most human things I've seen in the game. You can see him shaking slightly more after each shot. Both of which can easily be attributed to him being a damaged machine, but I can't help but feel he's scared and hurt by what what you're doing to him. He looked up to you and trusted you.
You were the person who vouched for him in ME2, you were the one who freed his people from Reaper control. You were his first friend and he's more than ready to stand with you to take back your planet and save the galaxy and you're shooting him over and over and over. He's never been betrayed and the one person he thought could trust to make the right decision is throwing him and his people away in favour of a race that attacked and tried to destroy him.
It's the worst for me because it's like betraying and killing someone who has no reason to have anything but respect and admiration for you, all because you think that they're not worth saving. He doesn't understand why it's happening because to him it doesn't make sense but it's happening anyway. He doesn't understand why his friend would let his people die and he's scared that his friend is about to kill him. All of his self actualization says the opposite would happen and now everything he had learned, bringing him close to being an individual is being flipped and he die sad and confused.

Many people think it’s Tali or Legion, but in reality it’s an irresponsible and violent race against an innocent machine one. Thank god I was never posed with that question, but if I had to choose, I would choose Legion. Tali may love her people, and she does commit suicide, but the Quarian race does not deserve to steal what they lost to their creation. They should never have constantly tried annihilate the Geth, they should have helped them build a new world, but due to the close-sightedness of hotheaded scientists and bloodthirsty killers, war was inevitable. I could never stand with Tali nor romance her for that reason; everything she loved was completely against my moral compass.

I see some people complain about renegade options in ME3, but in my opinion - it's one of the best things in this game. Every one gets a reality that he deserves. When you go full paragon - there's a ton of compromises to be made, but in the end - entire galaxy come to aid you in your war. Renegade always was easy, enjoyable, fun and most profitable way to play. Because you killed or saw die anyone who could redeem those species, and you have more War Asset points to show for it.
If you play Renegade PERFECTLY, you Intimidated Tali and Legion into making up, and brought quarian and geth peace. The stupid krogan can burn, though.

@@KopperNeoman If you killed Wrex in ME1, and destroyed Maelon´s data in ME2 (which means Eve dies), you can actually convince Mordin to let the cure fail. Wreav is stupid enough not to figure it out. And even if he did, his own people would rip him to shreds, because he took personal credit for the cure, and would get blamed if it didn´t work. That lets you get both the salarians and the krogan on your side, although the krogan are significantly weaker, so you don´t get that much in the end.

Easily. I shot him in ME1. He is nothing but a thug just like the rest of them when they don’t get their way. Curing them dooms the universe after the reapers. Even if u think wrex would stop it, he isnt immortal. Next generation would overpopulate and kill everyone. Wreave is more ruthless and is more needed against the reapers

One thing I’ll always appreciate is how in some of them you can see Shepherd is visually annoyed or angry with himself, almost like he didn’t want to make the choice he did but had to for the sake of the universe, and he damns the fact he had to be the one to make that decision.

You might be coldblooded "ends justify the means" renegade, but here..there is no other motive here than being evil. I remember that during my first play through of ME2 with my Renegade Femshep, I lost Tali because I chose her to lead the second assault team at the end. I also lost Jack when the swarm attacked her on the Collector ship (Jacob was holding the shield bubble around the squad). And I don't remember how, but I also lost Mordin.
Her romance option was Liara through all three games, and I had her soften up a bit in ME3. For example: My Femshep was a lot of things, but she wasn't a genocidal mass murderer. So she helped Wrex save the Krogan species. And when the tabloid reporter (Kaleesh al...something?) broke down during our third interview, I just couldn't punch her again. I chose the Paragon dialogue options for that conversation, and I wish I could have apologised on camera for punching her the first two times.
I also couldn't bring myself to shoot Kaiden (Ashley died in ME1 during that play through). Even though Tali was gone I also managed to broker a truce between the Quarians and the Geth. And I chose Paragon options for the conversation with Liara's Mother on the Citadel. Future in-law if everyone survives, so play nice. Lol..

I played Paragon on my first playthrough of the trilogy. I played Renegade for the first two game. Never bothered renegade on the 3rd game because I got really lazy.
Watching ME3 Renegade is by far the most brutal out of the trilogy. The Geth Upload moment without the ME2 save is definitely by far the most tragic of the paragon choices.

Ethan Hunt made that decision in Fallout, where he saved the one life over the millions. He was the ultimate paragon. I think that move was just too morally grey to be marked as good/bad.
On another note, I find it funny that the makers said ‘you can’t be the bad guy in ME3’
I call rock-hard bullshit. Shepard kills innocents and commits genocide twice. I’d say he’s as bad, if not worse than Jack Harper/The Illusive Man.

The Geth/Quarian situation has been the most pivotal moment for me. It was what made me realise that actions in the previous games can have a major impact on the final game. If you succeed at getting Tali made an Admiral, and both Legion and Tali live till this moment, you can save Tali, AND get both the Quarians and the Geth fleets!
