This is the last we ever see of commander shepard for the rest of eternity. It's been a hell of a ride, exploring the galaxy with the Normandy's crew, despite it being just a game, it's an experience I'll never forget. There were laughs, intense moments and tragic ones, no group of game characters have ever been able to make me feel so much for them, and Bioware managed it. Say what you will about the ending, all three games, even the third one, were absolutely amazing.

    • @StarkoftheNorth
      @StarkoftheNorth 10 лет назад +17

I still hope that shepard will live in the fourth part because when you have enough points he breathes at the end so i hope that you can import your character and he lives with tali or whoever he chose to be with, happily because he earned it to end his live in a peace he made after loosing so much i want him to be truly happy

I don't want some cheesy encounter between Shepard and the ME4 protagonist with a "Go get 'em" or anything like that, but I would love it if there were some obscure easter egg where you can find evidence that he/she's retired somewhere with the love interest. Nothing too in your face, but a nice subtle happy ending. :)

Legate Terrik The problem with that is it only carry's over if 2 options in the same play thought is used, IE: Spacer and Renegade end.
So you have a Mom and you destroyed the reapers, witch would mean only importing that 1 play thought would let you get the info your all wanting.
Personally speaking I think we should all let Shepard rest he has done more than enough be it he lived or dies, if anyone a hint like maybe an Easter egg or something that gives a hint as to what became of him/her but nothing major.
I'm quite happy with his end.

Anderson's death was very moving to me. In my playthrough, Shepard was the survivor of a Batarian raid, having seen everyone he cared about die. And then, on that platform on the Citadel, he sits with Anderson, his mentor, his father figure. And before Anderson dies, he tells Shepard how proud of him he is. Something Shepard never asked for, but something he desperately needed to hear.

Sometimes you get lucky in life. I consider myself lucky to have discovered, lived and breathed Mass Effect. I envy those who have yet to discover it for themselves but at the same time I can't wait for them to do so. From the first game when I started a ride and never knew what was coming next to where we find ourselves now. Wondering what is next. Whatever happens I know that the past few years have been a treasured video game experience that I can repeat. As for the fourth installment? I trust that I will not be disappointed. Never again hearing about Liara's Shadow Broker adventures
Never seeing a future for the Krogan's
Never getting to see your love interest again, your friends, hell even your enemies and rivals
A strange feeling, knowing you approach the end. The Citadel DLC grants you that brief repute, a chance to reflect, to kick back and just enjoy this crazy thing called life that you spent 3 games fighting for. It gives you that Eye of the Storm clarity of facing the end. And it works so well because we the player (assuming they saw the ending before this DLC) we know whats coming. Most of the fans hated the endings and they feel angry and betrayed that after such a fun time, they have to face that. Others are just melancholy at knowing many will die. Yet we all have one feeling in common as our Sheppard's watch their crew board the Normandy. We feel happy, be it happy with the experience of the DLC, a particular game, or even the whole trilogy from the first time you set foot on the Citadel to charging that beam for one last push. As a fan, love or hate ME3, we all enjoyed the ride at least ;)

nintendomaster9793 The whole reason behind Shepard breathing in the pile of rubble in the "Destroy" ending even stated by BioWare was to be able to imagine your own ending past that point. You can already assume that Shepard in that ending if he survived was to eventually end up surprising everybody and reuniting with his love interest and retiring along with the rest of the crew.

Honestly; I came close to crying [SPOILERS] when Thane died, when Legion died, and when Mordin died, but quite simply, I didn't cry. Nearly did, but didn't. This scene? This made me cry. Only scene in any game that has genuinely made tears flow, and I'm not ashamed to admit that. I romanced Garrus, and as he talks in this scene, you can see him welling up. That, even more than Legion's sacrifice, broke my heart.

I played the games backwards initially. I got 3 first, and thought it was incredible. Then I played 2 and thought it was amazing. Then I got 1 and had my first play through that went across all 3 games. That's when I realized that games can be as emotional than real life, as I teared up over a bunch of pixels on my screen holding a moment of silence for the end of Shepard. It was probably the best ride of my life.

When Shepard said "The best" and then gone, it shows having fun is just a temporary thing and then we are back to harsh reality, Reapers destroying planets, making life and death decisions etc. This applies to real life too, we often take vacations and forgets all sorts of problems that would keep us awake at night and after having fun we go back to normal routine and make us feel depressed. I just love Mass Effect so much

I downloaded the Happy Ending Mod and far as I'm concerned, my Shepherd's relaxing somewhere in the Cosmos with Liara, a few blue children and of course the occasional reunion party with everyone from the Normandy.
Words can't express how perfect this trilogy was. As silly as it sounds when talking about a video game, this is an experience that will stick with you, forever. Escapism at its finest. My only regret is not being able to play the series again for the first time.

It'd been so long, I'd forgotten 75% of plot points and events. It felt very fresh, despite having seen most of it before. So, want to do it again? Stop playing, put it away. Then come back much later.

The only story I know that's made me cry. I hate admitting to crying, but Mass Effect is just, it's so great. Shepard and his team are so believable. Unlike a lot of games, you feel like you're there, experiencing everything with all of them. You start with the first game, you grow attachments to all of them over the course of the first and second, and then you get hit by the emotional rollercoaster that is the third. You miss them when it's all over. It truly is something unique.

I just feel respect for the team who worked their asses every day having a publisher like that and in the end, managed to still deliver some of the best moments of the triology, a great multiplayer and one of the best downloadable content I've ever played. Many things were wrong in this game, many things could have been improved, yes, the absence of people like Jack Wall, Drew Karpyshyn, Armando Troisi and others was really felt, and having only two years to develop the largest game in the franchise was ridiculously difficult.
But knowing the living hell the developement of this game was, they did a beautiful, and overall epic experience, one I will never forget...

What humanity could find and accomplish, whether it would be that we find peace, war, immortality, etc. If we could have such deep friendships with other species like what Commander Shepard had. People see games as fictional rubbish which exploits children etc...

Mass Effect will always have a special place in my heart. It doesn't seem to matter how many times i play through, i laugh at the jokes, smile at the happy moments and cry. Oh boy there are a few times that earn the tears. This song, this scene is easily in the top two. You just feel everything leading to this point, the characters you've come to know so well, every fight, every choice and it is all about to end. Even though my head cannon is that Shepard survives and retires with Kaiden to some small colony this song still makes me cry, My hat is forever off to the composer and devs for bringing this to life.

If it takes place after ME3, then it'll probably provide us with some worthy cameos or references.
Also, Liara is an Asari. Asari can become a 1000 years old.

***** i doubt it's gonna be after ME3 look at how different the world is based on the ending you chose

kucharz508 I think they will chose only 1 ME3 ending for ME4. Destroy probably, because other 2 is too "ideal", and Refuse means that our cycle is ended. Also Destroy is only ending with Shepard's survive probability. Hint maybe?

It's highly unlikely to be a sequel... Especially since they've stated it will most likely have NOTHING to do with anything Shepard. Not him, his friends, his actions, or even the world he did it in... So yeah...
See it as freestanding restart of the franchise...
Like Deus Ex:Revolution was to Deus Ex... Set before Deus Ex and more or less having nothing to do with anything that happened in previous games.
But keeping the world and feel of the universe...
Making a prequel or even a universe reboot is MUCH easier than a sequel (And since they've repeatedly stated Shepard's story ends in ME3 no matter what) because you never have to chose a canon choice, giving you MUCH more freedom.

Zathaghil Hmm... I don't agree, How does playing through a story where the ending is already detemined, give you any more freedom? Lets say... The Rachni wars. No matter what choices are made, they wouldn't matter since the outcome has already been written. Even if they go way back and write a story about a previous cycle, everyone would still die in the end. Its like reading the last chapter of a book. What is the point of reading the rest of it, if you already know what will happen in the end?

Just the name, Farewell and into the inevitable, makes me cry. I don't want to say Farewell to Mass Effect, and if they mess up Remastering this trilogy, it will absolutely break my heart.
